I've been coming to this place for almost 10 years now, it was okay in the beginning but as time flew by, food and service have gotten a lot worse. First thing first this place is not as good as people rave about.!!! If you read all 4 stars and above review and think it's good, Don't bother to come, it ain't worth your time or money ( as they have recently sky rocketed their price to reflect new minimum wage increase ) I remember the first time we came to this place about 10 years ago, the sashimi boat was $50, then they have an excuse to jack it up to $65 and said it's a realistic price ( which is total bolony given the thin cuts of sashimi and poor quality of fish they serve ) Last couple of years, it raise another $5 to $70 and their $120 boat for 4 is worst, not only you don't get another $50 worth of sashimi, it almost look the same. So last week we had a craving for sushi and did not feel like driving to Amakara in Dublin, we went there and the price of sashimi boat has sky rocketed to $90. This is where I stop wanting to go there, we asked the server are they serving a bigger portion with $20 extra price ? They server said yes but of course, it's full of BS. Other rolls that were also once good and cheap like crazy horse and crazy monkey on a general got a $2 raise in pricing which then becomes ridiculously high. The restaurant do try to compensate a little bit with more sushi rice on the roll making it bigger but I rather pay regular price for regular size food. Like others have said the sushi here are either over sauce and almost 100% falls apart when it's a roll with sauce. Lion King is absolutely once of the worst roll they can make !!!!!! Always over sauce, always falls apart !!! Salmon on top is always dry and over cooked It's really sad to see this place go down the hill, 10 years ago, this place was okay and sometimes decent now, it's just not worth spending that kind of money, I rather pay Amakara or Yellow Tail $90 for sashimi platter and get a lot more out of it. If they do moderate price raise instead, I might have given them one more star but being too greedy means we no longer wish to go there anymore, it's just not worth my time or money. People who wish to come to this place, just be prepare to be disappointed.

With the exception of about one server I've frequently had, the service here is the worst of any restaurant I've been to. The only reason I would think twice about coming back is because the food is great. Tons of options, and everything I've tried has been delicious. With the amount of people that seem to come here you would think they could afford to upgrade the place a little more considering its waterfront location.

Vegetarian bento is very filling. Rice, blanched spinach salad, iceberg salad (with too much dressing) and something else I cant remember -- this was okay. A really good deal for a bento but nothing memorable Vegetarian roll was good. A little heavy due to the cream cheese, a nice mix of vegetables inside. Instead of nori wrap, they used a thin egg crepe which was a nice surprise. Sushi House is a very good deal for the portions, Americanized Sushi, large restaurant, quick turn-around and a fair option if you are in the area.

This is my favorite Sushi restaurant! This place is always packed with a long waitlist so i order to go. That way i get my favorite food without the wait :) Crunchy Roll, Poki Roll and their Tempora Udon noodle soup is the Best!

Sushi with a view! I'm totally in! Sushi house is quite popular in the Alameda area. Anywhere you sit, you will get a ocean view. How neat is that! According to my friend, he said that Sushi House is one of the few sushi joints that serve big portions or I would say known for making big sushi rolls. Boy, Sushi House did not dissapoint me. Living in LA, I'm fortunate to have all these sushi joints around the area and they're pretty top notch. So being as picky as I may be since I'm spoiled with all those delicious sushi places in la, Sushi House is definitely legit around the Alameda area. Fish was really fresh. Sushi House's specialty rolls are so so good! Great presentations as well. A few memorable specialty rolls that I ordered were... "Orange Blossom" - salmon wrapped outside of the roll. The inside have imitation crab filling (california rolls style) with tuna. I loved the roll. It was super duper huge in a flower blossom shape. Awesome presentation. So pretty! Salmon was really fatty and fresh! Just the way it should be! "Island Roll" - This roll was not impressive compared to the Orange Blossom (presentation wise... it's not a flower!! - sad face). However! The taste of the rolls were very well balanced. I like how the usage of mayonnaise or their house sauce is not too much on the roll that takes over the fresh salmon taste and their crunchy shrimp inside the roll as well. Delicious. Bento box- The portion is unbelievably huge. You can really share a bento box. For 20 something dollars, this is definitely a choice to go if you're not really into eating raw fish or raw fish(es) on rolls. The choices in the bento box includes: Katsu chicken, terriyaki chicken, tempura, and two croquettes. Yum. Ordered this because a friend of mine don't enjoy eating raw fish. Good deal though. It comes with Miso soup and a small salad. Oh! If you're here for someone's birthday (which happens to be one of my friend's birthday..) - you get a huge green tea ice cream with many spoons (so that we can share the ice cream.) Overall I had a great experience. Good, and fresh fishes. Extremely huge specialty rolls and phenomenal service. Peter, our server was awesome. Always running around but at the same time, always making sure we were doing okay. The waiting time might be long, but it's definitely a good dinner if you can wait through the waiting time. Nice view, good company, good rolls. It cannot get any better.

Not to be a prick, but my review is a limerick. Came in to this place not to stuff my face but instead to try it out. The menu is tight with lots of choices but I can't help wonder why so many customer voices. Then I realize after looking around that the problem with this high school cafeteria layout is the lack of sound! No music no ambience no song. Sorry guys but that is just wrong! At this realization my mouth agape, wtf why no mixtape. Awkward like the reddit penguin I am having a hard ass time chilling effing weirdo I look like a villain as I can't help but eavesdrop on all the people around me and the stories they are spillin'. Trying to lay low waiting for my food knocking out this rhyme hoping that it's good. Ika ring just came ... looks like bk onion rings... breaded the same. They taste alright an average night definitely not outta sight. Ordered the oyster euphoria roll, wish it was not soggy now I am bored looking outside weather kind of foggy especially since this sake kinda making me groggy. But I seem to be at the table time and waiters forgot. Good service not. Make direct eye contact 5 times as servers in black pass me buy dissing me mr. Ugly boring avg. Tech guy. I wish I had better things to say as we head into night out of day I don't like to give bad reviews but this place at best mediocre sorry that's the news. Once last try we might turn it around forgive them for lack of ambient sound. I just ordered tempura ice cream it has gotta to be a dream it would seem for me to change this bad review I am now sharing with you. Come on guys my feelings are hurt please let this dessert put my Richard in the dirt. Sorry to say the dessert was sad. Like the rest of the meal not necessarily bad. But in this day and age with metrics to gauge and foodies and shit being all the rage. .. why oh why for this rhyming joker do restaurants like these settle for mediocre?!?? Now I'm out 50 dollars. If you like my review please don't be afraid to holler. Yelp is the shit too legit to quit.

Consistently Great! Every time I go to alameda I make a detour for this place. The rolls are great, pricing reasonable. And service is good. But get there early. There is almost always a wait to get in (sushi bar turns over faster). Popular and great!

Sushi house is yummy take out sushi. I feel like it has been consistently fresh and I have never had a bad oyster here. My boyfriend and I usually order to take home and enjoy it relaxing rather than the hustley, bustley dine-in option. Aesthetics are crucial for me and my dining experience. It doesn't have to be fabulous, but there should be some ambiance and if this place wanted to it has potential for that. Close to southshore for shopping and a stone throw away from the water. A-ok:)

The go-to place for sushi around this area. Can't ever pass up the lion king! The salmon sashimi isn't that great though.

Over the years I've tried them several times. Last time was late night and I was desperate for Sushi. Well, the sushi here was never good, but I think it got worse and worse as the years went by. The service is still rude as ever. One of the item I got last time was scallop sushi. It smelled fishy, and next day I was sick. Should have spit it out. Never going back again. Please don't think the rolls they serve here are real sushi. This isn't sushi, it's crap.

This could've been a 3-4 star review... but my last experiencing here ordering to go was ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, disgusting, and inedible! I ordered some stuff to go before a big job test I had as an afternoon pick me up. I got a white tuna hand roll, orange blossom roll, and bay scallop roll. The hand roll was sloppy and unimpressive. The fish seemed kinda sketch but I was starving and scarfed it down quickly so I could move on to the main rolls. There was not even a piece of avocado that sushi places sometimes throw in. I was glad I didn't put in an order of albacore sashimi!! I've had the orange blossom here before once and it has my two faves, salmon and tuna so I was excited for it.... but it honestly had NO taste and seemed really old. There was a disturbing and unusual consistency and chew to it.... and kept on falling apart. I couldn't even finish it because it tasted that bad and gross, my stomach started to hurt halfway through it so I had to stop myself because I was scared I was going to get food poisoning. The salmon had a freaky radioactive neon orange tint to it like it was super farmed and frozen/not fresh. At this point I was pretty disappointed and pissed off :(! Ain't nobody like splurging on sushi to have a gross and sick time. I could compare it to premade sushi that has been sitting in Safeway for a couple of days. I've never had such bad sushi in my life... I decided over the bay scallop roll over the lion king to switch it up and BOY that was a bad idea. The roll seems appealing on paper and description but it was skimpy AF! 6 pieces of a california roll with what it seemed like 1 sad scallop chopped into 6 itty bitty pieces to go on top of the roll...... and they weren't even good scallops. (wtf $13.95) I honestly didn't even pick up my food that much later than when it was ready, and by the time I was eating my food the roll was cold when its supposed to be all warm and wonderful :(. If you're an indecisive soul like me then definitely choose a different roll where you will get your money's worth or the lion king! I could only eat half of this too because my stomach was really starting to hurt and feel weird by now. For $33 it was indeed one of the biggest and saddest disappointments ever and made me lowkey traumatized from having sushi again for a long longggggg time. Overall, there are many better Japanese and sushi places around... this place is mainly just hype and has a nice assortment of specialty rolls but the quality is booboo and ew. However, I will say that their udon is quite impressive and stacked in comparison to other places that my friend ordered before!!

We came to Sushi House for a friend's birthday around 6:00pm on a Saturday night. The dining room was already filling up and wait list growing. We were offered a table on the patio and since we were a larger group of 8 with a toddler and weren't sure how much longer it would be for a table inside we took it. Given the right conditions I'm sure the patio is a great spot for dining but unfortunately for us timing was bad. First of all it was HOT. I know it doesn't usually get that hot in Alameda but we happen to be there on a warmer evening so those plastic windows were trapping the heat making it warm and stuffy. Next the people on the side facing the sun really had the sun in their eyes. They had to rearrange seats and wear sunglasses. Sushi House might want to invest in some blinds or shades for evenings when the sun is setting and just at that level where its unavoidable. For the most part service was good. We were greeted and water was brought to the table shortly after we sat down. We got our orders in early and salads and soups came out after. We added 2 more rolls to our order a little bit after. I guess the sushi chef got a little backed up so only one of the rolls made it out. After a bento box and 2 sushi rolls later we inquired about the other roll and eventually cancelled since it still wasn't ready and we were full. My husband and I shared a teriyaki steak and katsu bento box, Bay Scallop Roll and Lambada Roll. The bento box came with a soup, salad, tempura, (potato cake), fruit, rice and the two option. I loved that the tempura were fresh, cut in larger pieces and stayed crunchy. The steak and katsu portions were big and had good flavor. There was so much food that even though we shared we still had left overs to take home. I liked the Bay Scallop roll (crab meat & avocado topped with baked scallops and house special sauce) a lot. The scallops were fresh and warm sauces melted with every bite. The Lambada roll (Tuna, Salmon, Tobiko & avocado topped with spicy house sauce) was also good but I like the other one more. We also ordered a bottle of peach sake for $19.00. I forgot what brand it tasted delicious and the bottle was as big as a wine bottle. Looking at the menu you might think Sushi House is pricey but portions are so big its worth it. I know this place gets pretty packed so if you plan on visiting come early.

Our party of 6 came on a Sunday evening for dinner. The owner himself came out to greet all guess. Wonderful friendly service. Beautifully designed restaurant with a full hard liquor bar by the front entrance. Well trained waitress explained the dishes in detail. Food is out of this world. Highly recommended restaurant if one understand good food needs time for preparation. A hint of French influence. We all were truly impressed.

Food is about average, not sure why this place has so many reviews and so popular. About 40 minutes waiting if you come here on Friday night or weekends. It's a great location with SF view but the decoration is below expectation. Tried this place twice and won't come back. The food doesn't worth the waiting.

Delicious sushi at an economical price...mm mmm, now, that is bliss for the wallet. #summerweddingbudget. Essentially, I was captured by how fresh the Uni (sea urchin) Nigiri was. However, the ambrosial quality of Uni was not the only definitive factor, as the rest of the fish from their Nigiri dish were remarkably fresh tasting. Win for the Nigiri dish, but minus 10 brownie points for the rest of the sushi. UGH. Overall, a sufficient sushi dining experience. Per recommendation of a friend who had been raving about this place for over a year, we resorted to having dinner at SH, as a party of three, on a Saturday evening. The sizable venue was swarming with ravenous sushi enthusiasts who were just as frenzied as we were, so it took approximately 45 minutes for us to be seated. It is NOT your archetypical hushed and intimate sushi spot. From their considerably extensive menu selection, we ordered: + NIGIRI DELUXE (12 pieces of house selected Nigiri Sushi): Fresh a** fish for a bargain. The highlight was easily the Uni, as its muted yellow meat was delicate and melted in my mouth. I have had experiences where the Uni was unpleasantly bitter, which meant that it was kept out of the water too long. The Toro (fatty tuna) was also another prized selection from this dish, as its meat had rich, clean flavor and melt in your mouth quality. + SASHIMI DINNER ( 12 pieces of assorted Sashimi): The low grade Chutoro (tuna) Sashimi from this dish was immensely fishy tasting, which was unappealing, and its meat was not tender. BOO. The Sake and the Akami Sashimi were tolerable. + SAKE AND ALASKA TEMAKI (Salmon and Grilled Salmon Skin Hand Roll): Grilled salmon skin was not crispy and savory, as it ought to be. An excessive amount of rice overwhelmed the other contents of the hand rolls. + RAINBOW, SPICY TUNA, and WEBSTER SPECIAL ROLLS: Mundane flavor and dry texture as anticipated. Sloppy construction. I am not a fan of all the supplementary frills of special rolls, as I embrace the charming simplicity of Nigiri and Sahimi. Thus, our rolls were ultimately uninspiring to me. If you just straight up enjoy bulk, then you may appreciate the special rolls, as they have a lot of rice and a redundant surplus of fish to satisfy your appetite. + HAMACHI KAMA (Yellowtail Collar): Meat was strikingly moist and flaky. This dish was lovely. Be sure to squeeze an adequate amount of lemon juice onto the fish for a gratifying experience. The skin ought to have been crispy, as its thickness and chewy texture were unpalatable. We believe that the kitchen may have hooked us up, because we received an abundance of fish for only $15.00. With many other sushi places, we only receive a small portion of Kama, so the magnificent portion that we were served was an impressive surprise. SERVICE We only wish that staff would clear out or empty dishes immediately, so that we could have eaten comfortably, as the tables were not spacious enough, especially since we ordered several dishes. They are not as attentive as they ought to be in such a bustling arena. Imagine all the potential profit they could create by merely rectifying their customer service. Our gracious server was consistent, so no relevant issues. In spite of the shortfalls, we will definitely be back for the mammoth portion of Hamachi Kama and the superb freshness of the Nigiri...all at a bargain. Oh yes, I forgot to mention the splendid view!

I LOVE sushi house!!! This place lacks the quiet, intimate setting of a typical Japanese restaurant, but in return you can get great deals on giant Costco-sized portions, and bring your entire family. Back in college during the dark ages (when I refused to eat raw fish), my friends would get so excited over the sushi house boats and I never understood why. Now that I eat sashimi/nigiri almost exclusively, I feel like this has become a whole new restaurant to me. Sake Don (18.95): 12 big slices of salmon sashimi and 2 giant pieces of tamago (4 normal pieces) over sushi rice. Comes with soup, and salad. The little spicy greens are also a nice touch. Sashimi Moriawase (25.95): 24 pieces of sashimi (6 kinds of fish). We got salmon, tuna, yellowtail, albacore, halibut, and striped bass. Comes with rice, soup, and salad. I really like the spicy mashed ginger piles that come on top of the fish. Sashimi Lunch (18.95) 16 pieces of sashimi (4 kinds of fish). We got salmon, tuna, albacore, and striped bass. Comes with rice, soup, and salad. Fresh Oysters (8.95): 4 oysters on the half shell. They were okay, I never think oysters are worth it unless it's happy hour somewhere and they're all $1, but my sister really wanted them. I would skip these next time and get some cool nigiri or tempura. The perfect amount of food for 2 people is a Sake Don and a Sashimi Lunch -- both items come with rice, soup, and salad. The soup and salad are pretty good, and it's good that both items come with them, otherwise they just give you one set (and then it's awkward to decide which person gets it). You will be full. Once we got a Sake Don and a Sashimi Moriawase, and we were stuffing ourselves until we were dying and finally had to take some fish home because we couldn't finish. A lot of the reviews are bad because of the service, but that can really vary depending on when you go. When we went on a Saturday around 7 PM, we had to wait for a table and it took 45 minutes to get our food. Obviously the staff were more preoccupied. But when we went on a Saturday around 1 PM, the restaurant was half empty, we had the entire beautiful "outdoor" patio area entirely to ourselves, the food came in like 5 minutes, and the wait staff regularly checked on us even though we were so far away from all the other tables. Either way, to me, this place is 5 stars. The fish is always super fresh, and the prices are great. It's wonderful in every single possible way when there's no wait, but definitely still worth it even when there is.

Fantastic sushi, the sushi is great at the place, I been there when they were a little shack of a place. BUT........... The wait was awful, for seating and/or your food. Service is ok. Don't expect anything else. Don't order anything else other then the sushi. (the sushi takes the longest, but worth the wait, other foods, fast, fast, fast, taste not so much)

I have to agree with one of the reviewers below, that this place is not good like it used to be. I was introduced to this restaurant a couple of years ago when it was in a smaller location, and LOVED the lion king roll (baked roll), and would crave it so much that I had to go back every once in a while for some more. There were a couple other rolls I would always order, including the samurai roll and island roll. Most of the rolls were really tasty and low-priced. But the past couple of times I have been back there, it was no good. I kept hoping that it was "just that one time" it was bad, but to my dismay it was not. I will not go back there anymore. I still get a craving for the lion king roll from time to time, but I can't find a place that will satisfy it..

Amazing! This is the roll capital. Just go straight to the back of the menu and look at all the wonderful rolls. This is the first time I've ever had a baked California roll, topped with salmon (Lion King) and it was unforgettable. This is a pretty big restaurant but they have 7 sushi chefs onsite. I can't wait to go back!!

As you can see from my other reviews, I frequent sushi places A LOT so I take my reviews seriously and I loved Sushi House! I had never been to this part of Alameda so I was pleasantly surprised to see that Sushi House had a great location overlooking the water in Alameda. The restaurant was pretty crowded as it was a Saturday night but we were seated within 20 minutes. The customer service wasn't on the high end, but they were quick with the service and food. The portions were huge (you really only need 1 roll) and the prices were good. I don't live near Alameda, but would definitely go back again if I was in the area!

I experienced a drop in quality today, The uni(sea urchin)(rather spendy item) was the lest fresh I've ever had, I spit out 7 dollars worth of food. I suspect the young chef who prepared it wasn't an uni fan, usually the senior guys at sushi restaurants prepare that it seems. I'd rather they said they didn't have any than serve me old oxidized sea urchin. Bleah! The rest of the meal was average, the Chiriashi I ordered was not as interesting, not as complex as this place is capable. Don't sit in front of a young chef!

We went there today after the Art & Wine Festival downtown and noticed they have new menus =) because they raised their prices =( up $2 per roll. We got a samurai and a lambada roll, our favorites, with miso soup and salad. Everything was fresh and delicious! The service was decent considering they were so busy.

Good food, we weren't in a hurry but we didn't have problems with the service that others have had. In fact, our server Andrew was excellent. We recommend the chirashi bowl and the veggie rolls but not the Bay Scallop Roll, it was unexpectedly cheesy. Pay a little extra and get real crab meat on your rolls. Considering this is next to a McDonalds and a mall, the ambiance is pretty good and the views can't be beat along Shore Line Drive.

I freakin' love sushi so much. I don't have much to say except that this place is really good. It is ALWAYS busy, so it'd be a time saver if you called and made a reservation, but I think you would be seated on the outside patio. Their sushi is sliced really big, which I like. My boyfriend and his mom & grandma got the first sushi boat offered along with a Philadelphia roll, fried tempura, seaweed salad, and ika yaki. I can't wait to come back!

Finally got to try the highly talked about Sushi House of Alameda, Ca. Located on the outskirts of the East Bay and conveniently located 7 minutes away from the Oakland Intl airport. As a hopeless romantic, I am very much biased toward anything with a great view, which this has. Location location location, located above a little beach over looking San Francisco. Probably why I have this place at 3 stars. In terms of service, I was not too impressed. They are always super busy which is understandable to not give us your all, but at least tell us your name dude (server). This is some pricey fish. Sushi places are a dime a dozen in the Bay Area. Although, that baked scallop roll is something that I want to take home with me and read a book to. Overall, I'd come here again...probably as a date spot to get to know the other person, but if I'm comfortable with the girl...I'm taking her to the city for some cheap quality sushi.

I've been a customer of this place for about 7 years or so. Coming here for birthday events and special occasions etc. THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD WENT DOWN SO MUCH. Back then it was so mouth watering now it is not how it was. The fish is not that fresh and the customer service has been more worst than ever. I have venture out into other places like kenzo sushi, sushi infinity, etc they offer FANTASTIC SUSHI. I wish the quality was just as it was back then. Still three star will only come back if friends and family want to but not personally.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant! I love love love their lion king, I mean who doesn't?! Some of my favorites are: lion king, rock n' roll, and the A's roll! Their oysters are pretty fresh too. Beautiful view because it's by the beach, it gets super crowded and busy during the weekend (of course) and lunch & dinner time. Great service and I love sitting in the booth. The only thing I would change about it is probably tables being further apart. When there is a party of two, you are most likely being seated very close to another table with a a party of two. You can literally join the other table's conversation! Other than that, everything is great!

[+] Sushi Moriwase is a must get! Generous portions of sashimi! Enough to feed two to three people! Decent price too, I think it's only $25. [+] Lion King Roll is sooo yummy! [-] I'm not a big fan of how the restaurant looks. It looks like a big pho restaurant. There were also many servers, but lacking in attentiveness and service. My gf and I signed our name on the waiting list. We sat waiting for a while. We had to wave someone down to get seated. There were plenty of open tables. I think they should have a hostess to organize the seating and to seat customers. Some of the servers looked annoyed. I'll probably go straight to the sushi bar next time.

Sorry sushi house but you guys have been slipping and I'm not going to be coming here anymore and here's why: -rolls have downsized -less tobiko, ginger, wasabi -dirty floors -the server messed up our order and seemed annoyed when we asked to fixed it (this was on a Wednesday around 5:30 so it was not a super busy night) -toro sashimi was lackluster and tough since I was expecting the fattier cut

Food was fine, but service was awful. I came here with 6 people. Not one of us was served near the same time. We ordered 3 bento boxes and the remainder got sushi. I could have understood the sushi coming out separately as they can be considered shared, but the bento boxes were delivered at different times too. We were there almost 2 hours before everyone had been served and eaten. :(

Oh why does this place have so many reviews??? It's definitely a hype based on its location. The best part about eating here is that after you eat, you can walk across the street and hit the beach. The food is mediocre. The rolls are HUGE. The one I like was the scallop roll. There are just too much rice and each piece of the rolls is cut out really big. I will probably get full eating just 3 pieces.

This review is based solely on their specialty rolls (since we pretty much ordered all of them lol).. The Lion King is the only one worth the drive from SF. I've also heard good things about their udon, but today was too hot of a day for that.. Maybe next time.

The rolls are big. The foods are good, I love The Lion King roll here but the receptionist is not up to standard. I called to make a reservation for last Saturaday lunch for party of 5 on Friday night, I provided my name and my phone # for them. On Saturaday, I called them again to change my reservation an hour before my reservation time because we knew that we will be late. Good for me to call them to change the reservation time, the girl who pick up the call said there is no reservation under my name!! Then she said she can reseve a table me, which is fine. However, when I get there, the receptionist took us out to the patio and gave us the table all the way back to the patio and was under the sun. On that day, it was 70 degree and is lunch time. So I asked her why you bring us to the patio? She said all the reservation during weekend will be arranged outside the patio. First of all, when I made the reservation, the guy didn't tell me, when I called second time, she didn't tell me either. Secondly, there were no one sitting outside the patio and why just gave us the table which is under the sun? There is another table which is next to the patio enterence and is much cooler (at least is not under the sun!) So we asked her whether we can sit there, she said it fine. Then why don't you just give us that table? It doesn't make any sense. For me the receptionist is the worst part, but we did have a good time for the lunch with a very good waiter services.

Always packed and always a wait. If I didn't like the food I would be turned away by the terrible welcome you get by a lot if the host people. Service here is mediocre at best. The only thing this place has going for them is the view, the samurai roll and the lion king. I would of given it a 3 star rating but my kids love the California rolls nowhere else.

The sushi is simply amazing. Add it with some sake bombs and your in for a delicious meal with awesome drinks. They have a good selection of sake. The sushi is super good. My husband is not a fan of sushi but tried the crunchy roll & devoured it. It is busy, but the place is able to accommodate large groups!

Boring sushi that is way too pricey. The baked scallop rolls are the only worthwhile dishes, I'd say. Evidently, this place was much better a few years ago, but I wasn't able to try it then, so I'm just disappointed.

The food is decent and reasonably priced but the service is so absolutely horrible and slow, I will never go back.

pretty good but guarantee a wait anytime of the day you go.

sushi is low quality and the service is pathetic. The raw fish is sub-par! I ordered takeout and was ~8 months pregnant and asked for water while I waited for my food, but was denied! The waitress explained that she couldn't serve me water because I was not dining in the restaurant. They insisted that I had to purchase a bottle of water. How pathetic that they couldn't give water to a pregnant woman with 100 degree weather. What was worse was that the manager was instructing the waitress to deny me the water. Then when I asked for a cup of ice, they said they could only give me ice in a bag. To add to this, I ordered a specialty roll made expensive with by the salmon roe topping without the salmon roe. I work at a nearby large company and have been recommending against any lunched at this place!

Interesting to read the reviews. Ranging from 2 - 5 stars. So I'll write my review with some context. I've only eaten here for lunch and have only gotten sashimi because it's soooo good. The quality of the fish is awesome and nice, large pieces. $16 for lunch may be pricey but for the quality and quantity of the sashimi, it's totally worth it. I would agree, service isn't the best (having just said that, I downgraded my rating from 5 to 4). They took our order promptly, we got our food without a long wait but they never came back to fill our waters or ask if we needed anything else, which i didn't since the portion was more than adequate. I'll go again and based on the other reviews, I'll stick to sashimi. Who cares about rolls anyways...comeone people, it's all about the quality and quantity of the fish!

The sushi is like out of this world. It will be a bit pricier than other places. Like I know rainbow rolls typically go for $10 a pop, but this place would have it for like $13. But those extra few dollars makes your dish taste so much more better. I've been here a few times and recently I was finally able to order the sushi boat. For a $70 value, you get as many sashimi, nigiri, and/or rolls to fit on top of their wooden boat. Of course for the value, go for the sashimi and nigiri. And oh my baby Jesus, the fish tasted like they went outside to fish (since it's next to the water), cleaned it and cut it. I may probably come back just to have the boat again.

I don't get the hype about this place. I been here on several different times and the sushi here is OK. I've had a variety of their rolls, including the Orange Blossom, Lion King, Marine, spicy tuna, and a few other different ones that I don't remember the names of. Portion is huge, but I feel like the quality could be better. All the rolls are kind of bland and taste a lot a like. Also, there is ALWAYS a wait and tables are arranged very closely next to each other, especially at their "party of 2" section. Even though food isn't great, the service is pretty decent - A LOT better than it used to be. Our servers checked on us quite often and I even had my water refilled! I guess, all in all, come here if you want a good view (esp during dinner time!) and good presentation. However, this wouldn't be a place I would "crave" for or my first pick.

If I'm ever in Alameda or coming home from Oakland, I love coming to sushi house. The food is amazing, the rolls are delicious, and the boats are amazing (but should have your own variety of choice). Even so, it can be quite pricey and it's always packed. Sometimes the waiter forgets to come by because it's so busy and cramped inside. Takes quite a while to receive your food but it's definitely worth it.

I come here so often with a few friends. This place is absolutely AMAZING. I tend to get their bento box's a lot because it's delicious and they provide you with a variety of food. Not only that but they provide you with a big portion too. The location is in a nice area. If you go near the time of the sunset, it's a really nice environment, especially if you ask for the patio seats. Which I also recommend if you like a quieter area. They do provide you with heaters if you find your jackets aren't enough. Highly recommended.

Just not a fan of this place. The wait is so long but the sushi isn't even all that I just don't get it. I guess it's more of a place for people to go people watch. And it's big for big parties so the good good part I guess

================ UPDATE 3/30/07 ================ Not impressed, I couldn't believe they managed it, but there was actually more rice in the rolls and less fish than before. The clientle is still hilarious, but the decline in food has em losing a star from

I shared four rolls with my friend. The crispy - I liked the salmon, but the skin was way too tough. only 5 pieces super prawn - This is still my favorite roll. 8 pieces. plenty of tobiko samurai - excellent roll. 8 pieces ichiban - unagi was good, but there was only 6 pieces. This place is a bit pricey, but the quality of sushi hasn't decreased over the years. Make sure to make reservations ahead of time or be prepared for a long wait.

I have been to Sushi House at least 10 times now. When I came here today with some friends, we noticed a big drop in quality. First off, when we got seated and given our menus, the waitress was already asking what we would like to order. We told her that we needed more time, but she came back at least 2 more times within a span of 5 minutes to get our order in. We felt rushed and a little frustrated to get our orders in a hurry. I mean, what part of we need more time to decide do you not understand!? We proceeded to order Island, Caterpillar, Smokey Sail, Cherry Blossom, and Lion King rolls and were told that Lion King will take longer than the others since it requires baking. We actually found it strange that lion king was actually the first roll to arrive to our table. We finished it and proceeded to wait for another 30 minutes gap for the rest of our rolls to come. The quality of the rolls and fish have dropped, if not by a lot. I remembered the first time I had Sushi House a couple years back was great. Now, the lemon was missing from the Island Roll and we all thought there were way too many cucumbers in the rolls and not much imitation crab. The rice was just too soggy and not cooked well at all. The fish quality is not entirely fresh, so i just felt like the rolls were just badly thrown all together. My friend's stomach felt sick after eating here today. I no longer recommend this place to my friends. Since I am writing this review anyways, I might as well sum up my memories of this place. I had my first try of Uni here about a year ago. I almost puked because of how fishy the uni tasted. I had the courage to try uni again at another restaurant and realized that FRESH uni is suppose to be delicious. That obviously did not happen here. Avoid getting uni here at all cause. My friend ate here earlier this year and found a piece of plastic in their sushi.

Love the food but service has got to step it up. They seem to never get the whole order right everytime. It's written down accurately but when it comes down to serving it's never right. We are constantly re-asking for what was initially ordered. They seriously need to get it together.

If you need a sushi fix but don't need anything special (or expensive ) this is a good spot. It's big with lots of seating and the service is pretty fast in my experience.

Sushi house used to be my go to restaurant for sushi but recently it has just been going downhill! I ordered a sashimi lunch today and one of the salmon nigiri taste like it was rotten. I almost throw up after taking a bite because it just taste like it's been sitting on the shelf for days! When I try to tell the server that there is something wrong with the salmon, she kept saying the color looks perfectly fine and walked away. Yes the color looks fine and that's why I put it in my mouth!

We've been going to Sushi House regularly for a long time, but we decided not to go back. When it first opened, the sushi rolls and sashimi were good. The service was good. Recently, the food quality is declining. Sushi rolls and sashimi are not good at all. Tonight, We ordered the 18 pcs sashimi combo and sushi rolls. The sashimi combo tasted so bad. It was not fresh at all. We couldn't eat it and we just threw it into trash.

The Webster Roll and the Lambada Roll for the win! If you like spicy you'll enjoy the Hella Hot Roll. As always there is a wait, but sit, chill and scope out the menu until your turn.

Fresh fish, big rolls, decent prices! Plenty of seating but always fairly packed. Though I've never had a long wait. Rainbow roll ($12.95): for sashimi lovers! there's seven types of fish and they don't skimp out on it. A's roll ($12.95): for spider roll lovers! soft shell crab on the inside, topped with eel and unagi sauce Alaska roll ($4.50): this did not disappoint! salmon skin and veggies were fresh and crunchy, not too oily. Island Roll ($12.95): for those who ALWAYS order sushi rolls! Classic crunchy shrimp tempura in the center, and fresh salmon and thin slices of lemon on top. With a beer, the bill was ~$50-55 + tip. Four rolls was definitely too much for my friend and me. There was about one roll leftover. We arrived very hungry and overestimated what we were able to finish. Doesn't that always happen?? Three special rolls between two average eaters is a good estimate of how much to order. Also!!! There's outdoor seating with an amazing view of the shoreline. But CAUTION: if you're allergic to bug bites (like me) please come prepared with bug repellant :-( The outdoor seating is available at dinner time as well- good for romantic dates. Will be back, and will order smarter next time!

Almost every time when we are to eat dinner and are craving for sushi. We often visit the Sushi House in Alameda. This restaurant does get busy during Friday evenings and in the weekend as well. I suggest to call in advance and make a reservation. We usually order their rolls and their sake goes pretty well together. A great pairing. Last night we ordered a few rolls (Island, Marine Boy, Highwy Roll) and a salmon skin hand roll. All of them tasted very good. I highly recommend this place if you are in Alameda area and want to eat good sushi quality.

The food or the place was nothing special. Most of all the service was incredibly terrible. Our family had to chase the servers around for drinks and more orders. the wait was perplexing considering there was about 10 people in there...

Hello View! I mean... Sushi House! We came on a good day where the wait was only about 15 minutes and the weather was gorgeous. The service was quick and super friendly and food came pretty quickly. We ordered many rolls (which I don't remember the name of... Sorry! Please refer to my photos!) but my favorite would have to be the Cherry Blossom roll. Although my last review I wrote was about Sushi House being overpriced.. Well, that was when I was a poor college student and now I'm just a broke college grad... But EITHER WAY, the rolls come deliciously STUFFED with food and they are very generous with the fish! Again, food is delicious, rolls are fat and jam packed with flavor, try the Cherry Blossom roll if you love salmon! And of course, enjoy your company and the view!

Service is okay. They pay attention to customers. Food, is sort of okay. Not the best Sushi. Saba nigiri: I think fish was marinated too long. Fish need to be removed fro, not m marination after certain hours to have the best flavoring. Over marinated. At least they marinate their own Saba on site. Shari (sushi rice): a bit dry side - either not enough water while rice was cooked or bad timing when then added sushi rice mix (vinegar, sugar, and etc).. Inconsistent size and shapes or nigiri. Even on the same plate, some of the rice chunk below fish was much smaller than the others. I am not complaining the smallness or it, I just don't understand why they don't even try to make them more or less the same or similar size... Some of them were twice as large as the other smaller ones. Very strange. I felt the fish was fresh. It's a little pricy for what you get. I may not mind paying a lot for truly good sushi, but this is not truly good sushi - just a okay sushi.

There just don't seem to be any outstanding local sushi places in Alameda. The atmosphere is casual, the prices are reasonable and the sushi is worth going back for. You can definitely find better sushi in San Fran, but you will pay. Seems to be a very popular place as the majority of times I have been there waiting lines to be seated were common place.

Let me be honest, I've been here more than I can account for and I can order without looking at the menu, unless I feel adventurous for the day to try something new. Lol. Yes I've been here that many times! I love this place, especially for the sushi rolls. The most beloved roll, of course, the Lion King roll. Baked salmon on top of what I wanna say is a california roll with their special sauce. You can never go wrong with it. Really, it's that good. Lol. I love their Crazy Horse roll, only because I'm a huge fan of sashimi and this roll gives you a lot for a good price. It's only four pieces but It's more than enough, but I only recommend this roll to the raw fish lovers. Okay, so those are my two go to rolls, but they have a lot of good sushi rolls. Webster, Golden Gate, Crunch Roll, I can go on! So why the four stars? The service is never consistent. When it's dead, the service is wonderful. You'll never have an empty cup of tea. When it's busy, you'll be lucky to get a cup of tea. Recommendation, if you can, come before 6. You beat the rush, you'll get good service and you'll get to enjoy their food without having the annoyance of flagging down a waitress. But when this place starts to get busy, they get busy!

This palce is hard to book. It is the largest shushi place I have been in the U.S. If you know any shushi place that has more tables, let me know. I like the fish head dish. This plaec has several shushi that are topped with melting cheese. I turely believe that there is no other way to mess with shushi.

The restaurant is located in a beautiful area which has the view of the bay. We were able to enjoy clear weather and sunny skies. We asked for a table close to the window that faces the bay and the host (after checking with the manager) set us there gladly. We ordered different rolled and the albacore nigiri. The nigiri was good and the lion king roll was exceptionally good. It is a little loud during lunch hour but nothing we couldn't leave with. Altogether it was a good sushi with fresh fish and good service .

People think this place is ridiculously good. But, honestly this place is alright. The sushi isn't that good and the service is the best. The only good thing about this place is the view it has and the shopping center is really cute.

Great place for sushi, bento box, or udon. I have been here a whole bunch of times. It used to be a small place and the wait was longgggggggggggggggggggg, but they now are in a much bigger space and usually no waiting now.

Sushi House is located in a pleasant corner by the sea. We celebrated my little sister's 20th birthday here. On Sunday at noon, our family party of seven didn't have to wait and there was plenty of parking. We came just before the rush though and the place quickly filled up -- Now I'll take a star off here on account of my biology, because midway through the delicious meal my stomach started protesting. Also my little sister insisted we dress business casual so my default cookie pants were missing sorely. But it probably also had to do with how much my family orders. Spent a good deal of time practicing this grief in the well-kept restrooms. In order, more or less: * The barley tea was crisp and delicious. It's a good palette resetter. * Fantastic udon noodle soup. My brother ordered the tempura version, and the broth was quite savory. Good house salad with sesame dressing. * A better than average Tameki udon spicy roll -- finished it in a jiffy, bite sized goodness. * An "okay" baked lion king roll. You know what? I'm not sure why I ordered this -- it just isn't sushi to me at all. Made me want to yak despite how pretty it looked. * Several other rolls that passed by unappreciated by me. B+ wasn't in a sushi mode that day. Service and staff were quite attractive ;) seaside views call for special occasions

The first time I dined in here, I went kind of late around 8pm which was a mistake. The fish was old and I could smell the foulness of the old fish in some of the rolls. Very dissatisfying and expensive, I wouldn't come back.

Ohhhhh the food here is good good goooood! The view of the ocean is amazing as well. Most of the rolls are $7-$13 which is okay. Order the baked scallop roll! (I forgot what it's called) However, the service was meh. It wasn't terrible service...it was just... really slow. Like really really slow. It took them a while to get us tea/water once we were seated.

I like this place quite a bit. The service is typically slow, but you should expect to come here to relax. The ambiance in my opinion is perfect for that. The food is good if you like simple sushi and sashimi.

Four stars for the food. This place is as good as it gets when it comes to Americanized sushi. It's fresh a and delicious. I can only speak about their sushi rolls and sashimi. I haven't explored the menu otherwise. I agree with most people regarding their service. It's slow and spotty. But whatever.

So....it's been almost 3 years that I last visited sushi house, and it did not improve but line was still long - how can it be? Portion was still pretty good, but it's still quite sloppy. And price went up?!?! It's no difference to any other sushi places. WIth that price, it's totally not worth it. Bento box was almost $20.......and sashimi was just alright. So long sushi house.

The sushi was very good, although their Lion King was absolutely terrible. It fell apart upon me picking it up. The rice was way too overcooked, and basically I felt like I was eating mush. We also ordered the Super Prawn, Samarai, Island, and Marine Boy (favorite to least favorite; my least favorite was still very good though!). The sushi tasted quite fresh, and they give a very big amount of stuffing inside rather than a bunch of rice outside. It was very good, except for the Lion King. Never again. Our wait was around 30-40 minutes, and our service was acceptable. Our waiter came by a couple of times to refill water and to ask whether everything was okay. We had 3 people order 5 rolls, and we were very stuffed at the end. We probably could have done with 4 rolls among 3 people. Good quality and good quantity!

Came here on a Sunday afternoon around 4-5 for an early dinner since I had a flight to catch. It's located near a little shopping center so there's a good amount of parking. It's also located next to a pier/beach so it's nice since you can take a stroll before or after (the water tide was so low that you can see people just standing in the water waaaaay out there! it was pretty cool) It's very clean and modern looking and it gets pretty busy so you can expect a wait. We had to wait about 10 minutes but probably because we had a party of 6. I'm sure it would have been longer had it been during dinner rush hour. We ordered a sashimi boat for $90 (you can choose between sushi and/or sashimi). There are bigger boats you can order for more. The fist was fresh and it was more than enough for 4 people to share even though menu suggests 2-3 people. However, we did have a roll on the side to share too. I definitely recommend the orange/cherry blossom. DELICIOUS! I think the prices are a bit high though but the quality of fish is pretty fresh. The service here is pretty decent too. I think it's a great place but I think I could probably go for something cheaper.

Johnny L.
I don't know how this place is so packed all the time. I'm not gonna lie the presentation is nice and all... But the grade of the fish is nasty. I ordered the nigiri set and a couple rolls... I wanted to say that the sushi and nigiri set has the fishiest taste ever. Probably won't ever drive back here... Green tea cheesecake was good tho.

Mariko M.
It's never ever my idea or choice to come here. This place is horrible, the service is literally the worst. I've been waiting in a 30 minute gap for my last roll and I just don't understand why there's such a huge gap between our starters and this one roll. Forget it, seriously never coming back here ever again. The owners/servers don't even care enough to amend for their mistakes so this review will more than likely fall on deaf ears. Just want to warn the rest of the community about the ridiculousness and lack of service in this establishment.

There are so many other places with better Sushi in the area. The service is lacking here too. Every time I have tried eating here they have failed to deliver something that I ordered. The sushi is not memorable.

we always come here everytime we crave for some sushi.after or before we go to the beach that is overlooking from the restaurant. i simply like their bento boxes that has big portions compare to other japanese restaurants. I like lion king and san francisco rolls.we tried the sushi boat with fresh sashimi's and maki but i wish they have sushi boat that has different kinds of rolls since im not that a fan of raw sushi..

1.5 hour wait for dinner with 3 hungry men. By the time we got the food I swear we were a pack of ravenous wolves devouring our catch. Despite the wait, that was the first time I experienced the Lion King and Bay Scallops rolls. I am a fan of the baked sushi. YUMMY and HIGHLY recommended! The next time I came here I ordered takeout and didn't have to waste my time waiting. :)

Incomprehensibly popular korean owned Sushi House specializes in American style funky rolls that make sushi purists cringe and offer over several dozen as well as 3 dozen nigiri choices. Also on offer is other typical cooked menu like udon, teriyaki. Pretty ordinary food overall, tho the chicken karaage is a standout with not greasy light garlicky batter and juicy inside that's level above typical fried chicken that others serve. This trip, the bay clam roll was even more overly sauced with mayo. 7765.5

This place is located right across from the beach! YAY! Unfortunately, that beach is probably is the number 1 contender for ghettoist beach I've ever seen.. Booo... :( Now onto the dining experience! Usually I'm scared of oysters just because if they aren't fresh then you meal is pretty much ruined... LUCKILY!! :) :) Their oysters were pretty delicious! YUMMM!!!! Also, their sushi was up to par! NOTE!!: Be weary about sitting outside, that the patio might be a little sunny and hot and may put a damper on your dining experience. Overall, I was a happy camper cause the food was on point. :)

Haven't go there in age......so decided to go again on a special day for me...anyway, I use to LOVE this place, their sushi was soooo good when they are still a little restaurant, but this time wasn't really what I was expected...still taste ok, but not as good as before and the price went up a lot....so maybe I'll try something new next time....
(3)

Food was alrighttttt. Great (& fast) service though. People if you don't like to wait in long lines, I suggest you get reservations, though it's only in the patio area. You get to look out and see a beautiful beach view. Totally amazing.

I used to come to sushi house when it was just a little shop inside southshore center. The food here is good, but not great. The service here is BAD. I usually try to steer clear of here because of the long wait and the bad service, but when I'm in the area and I really want Sushi, then I would come here. If you want good sushi and don't mind a little drive, try Sushi Kai in Milpitas.

My husband really likes this place . He also loves their roles . As for me , not so much. The rolls are ok-I've had better. The waiter Atsuko was a total B! First off the way she speaks is not clear so don't expect me to understand what you're Asking me ! Then she gets annoyed because I told her I didn't know what I wanted to drink. So she never comes back and another lady takes our order and brings our food (30 mins later ) . Atsuko then decided to bring us the check . Mind you, she would ask the two tables around us if they were ok but would roll her eyes with our table. Umm... Take your shitty attitude some where else . I am done with this place !

Descent welcome, didnt wait. The waiter sat us on a table with water spill on it, handed the menu gave us cups of tea. After looking into the menu we were ready, unfortunately the waiter wasnt. The two waiters within our vicinity totally avoided us, helping other tables, even one table that came after us. Feeling unwelcome, we left. Didnt get to try their food, but their service seems to be out of whack. Maybe the waiters were having a bad day but sure did made me feel like an unwelcomed guest.

For the amount of food and quality you get, the price is awesome. My wife and I enjoy their salmon sashimi dinner every time. If we are hungry, we'd get their combo dinner as well, it's just a lot of food! A couple of their rolls are definitely worth mentioning - the lambada roll and the scallop baked roll.
(5)

Service is super slow. They forgot half of our order. When we asked about it, "oh you didn't get your food." The tables edges, table legs, floors were nasty-dirty. The table top was sticky. The entire place needs a good scrubbing. The chairs were grimy. The food was good and they give you plenty. I won't be returning.

There is always a wait there. I like the ocean view, but the food I tried last time was okay. The service was not good either, I waited for 15 mins for my check to come, and they made a mistake there.

Horrible Horrible service!!! Management needs to train their staff on good service!! Just because it's popular place doesn't give a business the excuse to lack customer service!! This feedback should wake up owners to keep good service to keep return customers!!!

Sushi House is great aside from the long wait. The rolls are huge and the prices are fair. Even the cheapest sushi boat (~$75) is a great value. Of course, with such a busy place, you can expect service to be a hit or miss. Some favorite rolls here are island roll and orange blossom. Sashimi is excellent as well!

the nigiri wasnt bad. but as I sat at the counter (which I enjoy) I was a little disappointed and not very hopeful for the rest of my order. first of all, they are so busy that I was never even acknowledged my the sushi chefs. the counter is where I like to get to know the chefs and get their recommendations. second, the servers were not friendly and not at all attentive. third, every roll that was being made was overstuffed and sloppy looking. so large that they were falling apart. they were made very quickly and very sloppily. I ordered a raider roll which wasn't enjoyable. the roll was falling apart and it was thrown together so you couldn't enjoy the crab with the shrimp or avocado bc you had to peace it back together. I don't think the ingredients were anything special and in not sure i would come here. great location. great potential. not my favorite though.

LOVEEE this place. It's my favorite place to get sushi in Alameda. GREAT food, great service, reasonably priced & you definitly get what you pay for. The only downside is it can get really busy certain times & theres a wait sometimes or also when its busy it gets really loud to where its hard to hear the person your with. Just go during non peak hours and your good ! I love to come here whether its a quick lunch or a special dinner. great place for sushi!

THE BEST SUSHI PLACE EVER!! and I've had my share of going to a billion sushi places. I live in Davis right now and surprisingly they don't have this place up in Sacramento, but rather a place called Mikunis (not as great as this). The food at this place is amazing and very fresh. My favorite is the Lion King...hmmmm .. Recommend going here early because the wait takes awhile, but believe me..the food is worthit.

Despite how long it took for us to be seated, it was well worth the wait. The Bay Scallop and Lion King rolls are excellent and are a safe bet for those first timers at the Sushi House. In addition to the the delicious food, we enjoyed the view across the shore as well as the fast and friendly service. As mentioned before the wait can be long, but if your willing to wait for very good sushi then this is the spot for you.

The food here is okay, but none of the dishes were authentic. Usually, Japanese sushi is always delicate and is never greasy, which is the impression I got upon eating 3 different rolls here. The point of having a sushi and not cooking the fish is so that you can notice all of the subtle nuances of texture and protein, and yet dunking the stuff in oil and/or mayonnaise ruins all of that and makes it seem cheap. My belief is that if you want greasy, fried food, go to a restaurant that's supposed to serve greasy food. It almost pains me to see a perfectly good piece of tuna tossed in greasy sauce. The service I guess was good, but the unremarkable creativity and the inauthentic measures put into their food makes me not want to visit the place anymore.

When they first opened in South Shore (the old Alameda Town Center), they were good. I would eat there at least once a week. When they moved to their current location, their services have gotten bad and their quality of food has gone down. Definitely would choose Kai's over Sushi House any day.

There's something about Sushi House that keeps the place jam-packed on a weeknight and keeps me coming back for more! Everyone loves the Lion King roll, so do I, the highway roll is a close second, who can say no to deep fried sushi with some great tuna? They also cater to the Hispanic crowd with added hot sauce to many of the rolls. Good place for large parties, expect a long wait on weekends, but still worth it. Come hungry and you won't be disappointed!

Still good after my 2 year hiatus (I craved it everyday)! They have good food and look pretty clean-except for the floor. When you first walk in, it smells really fishy, but the smell lessens. The waiters can be a little rude/weird and you get waited on by everyone and anyone. The food is good and they have many different kind of food besides sushi.

Do not let the crowds keep for here. The crowds are there for a reason. like duh.... If you go on Friday or Saturday night you will not be happy. Go early on Tuesday and the food will just amaze you. The slices of sashimi are fresh and enormous. In addition to the Lion King and Bay Scallop rolls try the Saly roll. If there is a place that gives you the quality and value for sushi and sashimi in the Bay Area that you get at Sushi House, let me know, otherwise, we eat our Sashimi and Sushi here. If we eat somewhere else we look at each other at the end of the meal and say.... "We could have gone to Sushi House."

The sushi here is pretty good. No rolls to recommend in particular, because they are all fairly typical. There tends to be a waiting list, so be prepared to put your name down on the clipboard and wait.

I live in Santa Clara and I would definitely drive up to Alameda just for the sushi here. It's understandable that there is a long wait for this place - if you can survive that, you're good to go. Went here with 4 people and we got 5 sushi rolls - more than enough to satisfy us. Our teas and waters were refilled promptly and the sushi was pretty incredible. Large, generous slices of fish and sauces to fill us up quickly. Plus, it's reasonably priced for sushi.

One of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been to! The sushi is incredibly fresh and unique, the restaurant is right by the Alameda waterfront, and it is ALWAYS packed (which obviously is a good thing). Never disappointed by my dining experiences here. Some recommendations rolls: -Rainbow -Orange Blossom -Lion King -Marine Boy -Bay Scallop & Soft-shelled crab (fried) Here is the link to the sushi list: e-sushihouse.com/sushi.h…

(5)Courtney G.
A-ok:)
(3)Carmen T.
The go-to place for sushi around this area. Can't ever pass up the lion king! The salmon sashimi isn't that great though.
(4)Yoshika H.

(5)Bobby W.
Fantastic sushi, the sushi is great at the place, I been there when they were a little shack of a place. BUT........... The wait was awful, for seating and/or your food. Service is ok. Don't expect anything else. Don't order anything else other then the sushi. (the sushi takes the longest, but worth the wait, other foods, fast, fast, fast, taste not so much)
(3)Starla L.
(2)Brooke B.
(5)jen b.
this is some of the best sushi, but also some of the worst service. even with horrible service and long waits, i still cross the bay for the food.
(4)Wyman W.
Real sushi in California. Reasonable price. High quality. Many styles.
(4)LuLu M.
(4)Iris W.
their food's quality is going down after years. They were much better before.
(2)Loren R.
(2)Anne W.
We went there today after the Art & Wine Festival downtown and noticed they have new menus =) because they raised their prices =( up $2 per roll. We got a samurai and a lambada roll, our favorites, with miso soup and salad. Everything was fresh and delicious! The service was decent considering they were so busy.
(4)Mary B.
(4)Jarleen V.

(3)Vincent H.
(3)Amy C.
(5)Tammy F.
(3)Jenny H.
(2)Melissa B.

(2)Meesa V.
This review is based solely on their specialty rolls (since we pretty much ordered all of them lol).. The Lion King is the only one worth the drive from SF. I've also heard good things about their udon, but today was too hot of a day for that.. Maybe next time.
(4)Fasil A.
Food is good. Price is high. Quantity is low. Service is bad. Service is what needs the most work. Been waiting for my check for 15 minutes now. Our waitress is taking forever.
(2)Max T.
Good Sushi but it is kinda expensive. Very efficient on service during peak times, but also very crowded. But extremely slow other times.
(3)Stella T.

5 stars for the view...3 for the sushi...averages out to 4 stars. Worth it for the view though.
(4)Joe D.
(4)Robin K.
(5)Ruobin W.
Boring sushi that is way too pricey. The baked scallop rolls are the only worthwhile dishes, I'd say. Evidently, this place was much better a few years ago, but I wasn't able to try it then, so I'm just disappointed.
(3)Elle B.
The food is decent and reasonably priced but the service is so absolutely horrible and slow, I will never go back.
(2)Tasha L.
pretty good but guarantee a wait anytime of the day you go.
(4)D ..
sushi is low quality and the service is pathetic.
(1)Lalaine D.
(4)Tony L.
(5)Sandra H.
(3)Sydney P.
(4)Kevin D.
(5)Lola S.
Just not a fan of this place. The wait is so long but the sushi isn't even all that I just don't get it. I guess it's more of a place for people to go people watch. And it's big for big parties so the good good part I guess
(1)Chris B.
always a line of sight on TVs during playoff games and great sushi, how can you go wrong?
(5)Harsh K.
================ UPDATE 3/30/07 ================ Not impressed, I couldn't believe they managed it, but there was actually more rice in the rolls and less fish than before. The clientle is still hilarious, but the decline in food has em losing a star from
(3)Edward W.
(4)Eileen W.
best sushi i've ever had in my life...within the US =P it was better when they first opened but still good today! everyone that i've brought here has come back on thier own. and i have alot of friends and family. must haves: lion king & bay scallop. whoever thought of putting sushi in the oven, ingenious! fish is ALWAYS fresh. best salmon nigiri ever. i have this at every japanese restaurant and use it as one of my basis for rating sushi places. ocean view seating available plus its near trader joes =)
(5)Hoyan L.
(1)Anna B.
Love the food but service has got to step it up. They seem to never get the whole order right everytime. It's written down accurately but when it comes down to serving it's never right. We are constantly re-asking for what was initially ordered. They seriously need to get it together.
(2)Hillarie M.
If you need a sushi fix but don't need anything special (or expensive ) this is a good spot. It's big with lots of seating and the service is pretty fast in my experience.
(3)Lu S.
(1)Connie L.
(3)Earlene C.
The Webster Roll and the Lambada Roll for the win! If you like spicy you'll enjoy the Hella Hot Roll. As always there is a wait, but sit, chill and scope out the menu until your turn.
(4)Mandy L.

(4)Mia K.
The food or the place was nothing special. Most of all the service was incredibly terrible. Our family had to chase the servers around for drinks and more orders. the wait was perplexing considering there was about 10 people in there...
(2)Linda K.
Hello View!
(4)Momoko S.
(3)Nusala A.
Salad crabs is so good... Spider roll very yummy... I cannot stop eat... Eat eat eat and eat...
(4)Jeff O.
(3)Hepsie C.
(4)Yu W.
This palce is hard to book. It is the largest shushi place I have been in the U.S. If you know any shushi place that has more tables, let me know. I like the fish head dish. This plaec has several shushi that are topped with melting cheese. I turely believe that there is no other way to mess with shushi.
(3)John A.
(4)Tina K.
People think this place is ridiculously good. But, honestly this place is alright. The sushi isn't that good and the service is the best. The only good thing about this place is the view it has and the shopping center is really cute.
(2)Jenn K.
Great place for sushi, bento box, or udon. I have been here a whole bunch of times. It used to be a small place and the wait was longgggggggggggggggggggg, but they now are in a much bigger space and usually no waiting now.
(4)Jonamir Ian C. V.
(4)Briget P.
The first time I dined in here, I went kind of late around 8pm which was a mistake. The fish was old and I could smell the foulness of the old fish in some of the rolls. Very dissatisfying and expensive, I wouldn't come back.
(2)T. B.
delicious food, great location, busy as usual and my 20 month old loves their salmon! Decent service, and reasonable prices. I love it!
(5)Donna C.
(4)Milton L.
Little expensive but not view if you sit at the right place. May be busy at times.
(3)Marianna P.
I like this place quite a bit. The service is typically slow, but you should expect to come here to relax. The ambiance in my opinion is perfect for that. The food is good if you like simple sushi and sashimi.
(4)Karen L.
good!!! yumyyyy~~~ The best sushi place that I have been!!!
(5)Sara P.
(4)Louisa L.
(2)Andrea W.
(4)Kimmy Y.
(3)Johnny L.
(2)Mariko M.
(1)Susan A.
There are so many other places with better Sushi in the area. The service is lacking here too. Every time I have tried eating here they have failed to deliver something that I ordered. The sushi is not memorable.
(2)Anthony E.
Love eating sushi here. Right across for Alameda Bay! Having Philly roll, Lion King Roll, and Spider roll.
(5)Rose S.
I enjoy this place....... But sometime the service is busy or a lone time for take out.
(3)Enah N.
we always come here everytime we crave for some sushi.after or before we go to the beach that is overlooking from the restaurant. i simply like their bento boxes that has big portions compare to other japanese restaurants. I like lion king and san francisco rolls.we tried the sushi boat with fresh sashimi's and maki but i wish they have sushi boat that has different kinds of rolls since im not that a fan of raw sushi..
(4)Jasmine A.
(4)matt k.
(3)Megan W.
Every roll tasted the same. I dont really have anything else to say.
(2)Grace L.
(4)Quincy W.
(3)Mei X.
Food was alrighttttt. Great (& fast) service though. People if you don't like to wait in long lines, I suggest you get reservations, though it's only in the patio area. You get to look out and see a beautiful beach view. Totally amazing.
(3)Kevin L.
(3)Shaina A.
(1)ocho e.
(1)Aleck L.
(5)Patrick L.
(2)Alli Z.

Lion king is the best to get. Love all there special rolls, but Lion king is my favorite and it's simple but yummy.
