Diabetics must resist their temptations when dining at Applebee's. Most of the items on Applebee's menu is either stuffed with sodium or sugar. You must be extra careful and pick low-sugar and low-sodium diet at Applebee's if you are diabetic.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for Diabetics:
If you are starting your meal with appetizers then make sure you skip the Classic Buffalo sauce, Honey BBQ sauce, and sweet Asian Chile sauce on your wings order. It is highly recommended to skip the appetizers if you are dining alone and instead build your appetizer keeping nutrition in check. Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. Skip the sandwiches, wraps, and tacos as well. Desserts may be tempting but it is recommended to avoid them at Applebee's for their high sugar content. All the beverages except Iced Teas must be avoided as well to control your sugar intake.
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.
Food Suggestions for High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol
If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.
Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's
Great friendly staff and great prices. The food is comfort food and good portion sizes. The service is excellent. This is my favourite lunch spot in Yuma.

Came here at about 10pm on a saturday night and was less than satisfied with my experience. Our server did a sufficient job of meeting our basic needs, with minimal friendliness and attentiveness. The atmosphere was cold and uncomfortable. The food was less than desireable... I ordered something along the lines of a southwest chicken wrap with chipotle seasoning from the "hand held" menu, and was brought room temperature fries on a greasy plate with lettuce wrapped in a tortilla and only two bites of chicken to be found. My boyfriend ordered a turkey club, which seemingly turned out to be a cole-slaw club with two bites of turkey in it. The best part of our order was an Old Fashioned he ordered from the bar- one short bar glass filled to brim with ice, one whole cherry, a whole quarter of an orange, a splash of cherry juice (to supplement the muddling of the cherry), and an ounce of actual burbon. Far from an Old Fashioned and disappointing, even knowing the bartender here was most likely by no means a qualified mixologist. Paying $30 for dinner for two is reasonable and not something I mind doing... when I get what I pay for. I can easily spend the same amount of money for higher quality food, or in this case- could have saved money eating fast food at some place that wouldve delivered the same below average meal. Shame on me for not making a better choice, I suppose.

I'm not a fan of these types of places. I find them annoying. Things like the birthday song are so last century. That aside... Three of us ate three different entries varying in price from 13 to 15 dollars. For those prices at a chain restaurant, I expect my plate to be full of food. Not the child size portions we had. And the nickel and dimeing is annoying as well. 1.50 to "up side" your dinner with lettuce and a teaspoon of ranch? 60 cents for a finger size breadstick? Games to entertain the kids for a buck? Come on! The food was adequate. Not sure of any freshness. It didn't look like the pictures in he menu. (Lol) The noise level. The hurried atmosphere. The rushed service. There are better dining options. Like the McDonald's I hit up right next door after we left this place.

I have found Applebees to be consistant over many years. Sadly that was not the case on a recent visit to their Yuma Az location. My wife's food was improperly prepared (St Louis Ribs) They would have qualified as jerky had it not been for the bones. Our waitress replaced them with more of the same and realizing the poor quality of the food offered another selection. My wife chose the salad with shrimp...only to have wilted lettuce and shrimp the consistency of a rubber eraser. We were charged for the food even though it wasn't fit for human consumption. I left a bad review on Applebee's site. After a week the manager phoned me and offered a coupon to reimburse us for our meal. As of this date (two weeks after the manager's phone call there has been no coupon. My advice is to steer clear of this place.

Only giving 2 stars because manager was really nice and comped my meal. Ordered fish n chips had hair in food and fries tasted like they had already sat out half the day. Fish was terribly oily and icky. Didn't eat more than a few bites. : (

This restaurant has a great staff and great service. However, I have tried several different dishes and they don't taste good enough for such high prices. I do like their appetizers and drinks, but the main entrees should encounter some changes.

It's ok, what you'd expect from an Applebees. I have no complaints, anything I get is really good, appetizers esp. Atmosphere makes me feel comfortable, usually sit in booths, in a corner in a defensive position, maybe that's why. But yes, nice little place.

My son and I had lunch here on Saturday and Sunday while we were traveling to and from a baseball tournament. The bartender Ashley was so great and personable on Saturday that we decided that on our way home to San Diego we'd go see her again. The entire staff was exceptional and made us feel like home. Oh and yeah, the food was really good. But I will have to say we will never forget Ashley, she deserves a HUGE raise. Amy and Patrick MacNabb

Came here recently, for my anniversary. One of the seats of the booth we were seated at, had a huge gash in it. My glass was also dirty, but the waiter apologized and brought me a fresh one. The waiter was very kind and he brought refills without us having to ask. My boyfriend's burger was over done, he had asked for rare. My steak and shrimp were delicious. We had an over all right time. Way better than the last time

Had the fried shrimp and fries. Cost 14 bucks and it looked and tasted like something from the cafeteria I worked at in college. Server didn't know what the green apple icons on the menu were, did not care to just look at it and read it when my friend asked what it was. Overall eh experience, my friends chicken salad was good as well as the Alfredo pasta. There was a water spill in the hall going toward the kitchen that you walk by to the bathroom and I saw the employees walk over it like it's nothing and placed no slippery when wet sign. Not a fan Arizona not a fan

I'm a big fan of Applebee's since they serve some healthy dishes as well! The prices are comparable to other family restaurants and the service we received was outstanding. The food is pretty good and I love their cocktails. There's a happy hour starting at 9.00pm which gives you decent prices on selected drinks and all beers. I guess the only reason why I would not give this place 5 stars is that I think 5-6 TVs is a bit much for a restaurant!! I'm mean you come here for food and not to watch some TV, right!? Over all I'd say I like this Applebee's a lot and I will definitely come back some time soon!!!

I came here for dinner a few nights ago and had the 2 for $20 deal. You get an appetizer and two entrees for that price. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip which was amazing. It had salsa as well and came with tortilla chips (free refills on the chips!). For our main dish we had the salsa and lime chicken with a side of Mexican rice, which was really juicy and yummy, and the bacon burger with fries. They give you a nice portion and it's a great deal.

Life isn't good if you find yourself in Yuma, and perhaps less so if you're in an Applebee's. Proximity to the highway and pre-California gas make this place a worthwhile stop, but don't expect much. Rather ordinary service, average food, and typical prices for the chain here. Only difference is there might be a few drifting sands in the parking lot. If you must stop in Yuma before heading into California, I suppose this isn't too bad.

Ok, I usually like Applebee's in the valley. This Applebees in Yuma is located directly off hwy 8. However, they don't have the same happy hour as in the valley. After driving around looking for some kind of bar to go to, I couldn't find one that wasn't scary or expensive, so I ended up here. They do not have the 1/2 off all drinks during happy hour like they do here in the valley. They only have 1/2 off 4 beers - Budweiser, Bud Light, Coors Light, and Miller Light. First, I don't drink any of them. I ended up drinking Bud Light cause I didn't want to pay full price for Ultra. My Bud Light was $3. The bartenders blew. They weren't friendly and one bartender didn't know how to make drinks. Every beer she poured had tall head on it. The mixed drinks were worse. She was making people daquiris, and literally, half the glass was filled with shaved white ice like a plain snow cone. There was only juice at the very bottom of all the white shaved ice. Remarkably, the people who got these awful drinks didn't send them back. The main bartender was a younger girl who had no personality. She would get irritated when the phone rang and would constantly roll her eyes. I don't know what's going on in Yuma, but their bars suck, their either complete dives or expensive, and the chain bars are more expensive then the valley and really lack service and personality. They at least had 1/2 off select appetizers.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.
Healthy Food Options at Applebee's
When a restaurant serves ribs as their main dish, then you can assume the diet-friendliness of their menu. Well, Applebee's is no different. However, you can dig deeper into their menu and pick some good healthy food options for sure. You can try the salads, light sandwiches, appetizers to ensure you don't order heavy items, etc. If you are really diet conscious, then you got to be careful with their steaks & ribs as well as desserts section.
