Ranch House is not just another roadside breakfast restaurant. Situated about 40 minutes from Wickenburg and about an hour from Presscott this is more of a destination. Very easy to find on any weekend mornings, just follow the motorcycles. This place serves as a meeting place for locals and a local history lesson for visitors. I have taken the family here on many of road trips and it never dissapoints. The food is a throwback to the flintstones with their portions. First time visitors often order a breakfast entre and then order sides. This proves to be a mistake. Every menu item is large enough to share but that would require restraint. Omelettes are massive and sublte flavor is not exercised here. Green chiles and oinions being a staple in most. Their biscuits are hands down the best I have ever had. They have a homemade taste and quality that most restaurants fail to appreciate. The gravey along with everything here is scratch made but somehow is done very quickly. I would challenge anyone to have an empty coffee cup on the table for more than a minute. Service here is excellent with a very seasoned staff that help each other out. Perhaps the only drawback here also doubles as its charm. The restaurant is too far from home to get takeout and the portions are so large that the homemade dessert items get neglected. I keep saying i'm only ordering dessert next time but I just can't follow through with all the great specials that they have. you need to plan to dine here as they only take cash and an ATM machine onsite is often out of order. I have never taken anyone here who hasn't wanted to return right away. This is that restaurant that you treat yourself with right after to get your labs done for cholesterol. The prices can be a little high but once you realize just how out of the way this place is and just how great the food is then it all makes sense. Watching your budget, then go to a chain restaurant but I challenge you to remember two days later what you had.

So, I will write another complete review once I have had a couple of new visits as I haven't been in since the new owners got settled... so expect to see more in a few weeks, I hope to report that things are as great or better than they've ever been and bump this rating up to a '5'...

I'm giving this place 2 stars because the food looked good. But I wouldn't know what it tasted like. I went in just off my motorcycle and hungry like many the others there. I was seated quickly and promptly ordered. No big deal right? A couple over medium, bacon, and wheat toast. Oh, and a big iced tea. So I sat there looking around at all the kitsch. Then noticed no one had food. People there before me had nothing. I started watching the kitchen. Sloooooooooowwwwww, glacial speed slow. I waited for nearly an hour totally jacked on my iced tea caffeine high, I paid for my tea and left. One hour and no food. I guess next time I'll just ride by hungry. At least then I'm riding.

A good breakfast or lunch stop when out for a ride at the top of the hill. Great omelets, hash browns and coffee, all piping hot at fair prices.

Friendly staff, fantastic coffee and according to the kids, phenomenal hot cocoa. Very crowded and it took almost a half hour for our lunch to arrive. We ordered the green chile burrito, ask for extra sauce to pour on top. The burrito was surprisingly bland. Three stars for the wait and the burrito but we will try again as breakfast might be their speciality. Come early though, breakfast only served in the morning. Cash only.

Bring Cash! It's worth it. I stopped here when I was rambling about because it was lunch time and it has that homey, Mom and Pop look. Walking in I saw the "Cash Only" sign and almost left, (I generally carry very little cash) but the smell drew me in. The smiling waitress told me to sit anywhere so I took the closest table. She took my drink order and left the menu for me to peruse. A decent selection for a small diner and I settled on the Farmers Platter, eggs, hash browns, and biscuits with gravy. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say it was great! These folks do a great job and serve great food.

My daughter and I stopped in for lunch on a recent Friday afternoon on our way from Prescott to California. I read a couple of positive reviews on Yelp and decided to stop in for lunch. The restaurant decor is homey, comfortable and welcoming. The menu featured a number of comfort food options. I ordered the Fish and Chips special and my daughter had a cheese crisp. We were both happy with our selections. Food was prepared carefully and the food tasted great. Service was very good too .... the waitress checked in on us a few times to make sure we had what we needed. One thing to note is that they do not take credit cards. I discovered that fact when I went to pay. There is an ATM right outside the door to get cash but iit comes along with a $4 fee. If you do not want to pay a fee, make sure you bring some cash with you.

Stopped here on a road trip. I really enjoyed the burger... big patty, lovely bun, and good green lettuce. Yum!

I thought the breakfast was good , the portion size was large , but they only take cash, and In my opinion this was not a 32.00 breakfast.( 2 omelets and 2 beverages)Some what of a tourist trap.

We've been to the Ranch House a number of times. And I have to say its only mediocre. The ride up from the city probably makes it more special than the food truly is. Plenty of nice bikers frequent this place, myself being one of them. The food however is really nothing special; not to say it's bad- it's not. But there's nothing on the menu truly unique or likely homemade. A very basic menu offing standard breakfast fare. In a way this is kinda sad as the potential for something 'special' exists but the cook needs to be far more creative than what we see now. A further ride up to Prescott's Coffee Pot and you'd find more interesting twists on omelettes, a shorter ride to Wickenburg's Horsehoe Cafe and you'd get homemade biscuits and gravy that's killer. The folks here are all great, the service fairly quick and the pricing is reasonable. I'd give it 5 stars for hospitality and the cozy feel. Sadly the menu falls far short of the potential. We'll go back again I'm sure if not for the food but the mc ride. Hoping someday we can report of a more wonderful menu offering.

We had been on the road for quite a few hours and we were hungry for lunch. We like to eat at "mom and pop" type places so when we spotted this place we thought we would try it out. The place was packed with people so that is always a good sign. The inside is really cool; there are lots of interesting things hanging all over the walls. The server was very nice and we received our food at a very reasonable amount of time. My Beef Enchilada was one of the best tasting ones I ever had (even though it was made with ground beef instead of shredded beef); it was loaded with sauce and cheese..yum. My husband's burger was huge and he really enjoyed it. The downfall about this place for me was that they do not accept credit cards (cash or check only). If we are ever in the area again we would eat here again!

I always love to come out here for breakfast. The food is so good and great bang for your buck serving sizes. The customer service is very good and this place just feels like your at home.

This review is really about what makes America a great place and reminds me why I am very proud to have been born and grown up here. I imagine the traits I appreciate here are not exclusively American ones, but they are ones we, as a country, value deeply and embrace. That this review is about how those traits express themselves in good food and service is why I have chosen to post it here on Yelp. There is this little town in southern part of the county, really not much more than a pretty, wide spot in the road, but like many rural places in the US, a strong and independent community. Most people had never even heard of this little town until June of 2013. After June 30th, there were very few that had not heard about the tragedy and terrible loss of the "Yarnell 19." The Ranch House Yarnell is a sprawled building on the east side of the highway, when we fist visited it, an unremarkable off-white and now a vibrant blue. It is the local breakfast and lunch spot for this town; where the locals and travelers alike gather. Just about any small town worth its salt has one like it. Last June the folks that make this place more than an old, ramshackle, building could see a raw slice of hell bearing down on their homes, businesses and neighbors. There was no fighting it; nineteen of America's best Wildland Firefighters had already succumbed to its unstoppable rampage. They had to turn and run. It was endless days until they knew what had survived. Across the street was desolation; homes had burned to their very foundations, and the earth scorched and barren. But the Ranch House still stood. It was dingy from smoke and every inch of it had to be washed by hand. When power lines fell to flames every perishable food item was lost as the refrigeration failed. It was all replaced and in a few weeks they opened. They picked themselves up and went back to work. They serve darn good food and people like my Husbear and I make it a point to stop here whenever we are in the area. This isn't Michelin three-star cuisine; (in most of the U.S. that is considered an odd affection anyhow.) They offer home-made Biscuits and Gravy, Hash Browns, Pancakes, Steak & Eggs, Bacon, Sausage. In short, the breakfast classics that we all know and love, done just about to perfection. Boy do I like their Breakfast! Lunch likewise is all the old-school diner classics: Burgers and Frys, sandwiches, Tuna, Chili, Enchiladas & Burritos (hey, this is still Arizona after all!) And, just to surprise the complacent, a very tasty Grilled Trout Fillet with Salad and a pretty darn good Philly Cheese Steak for this far from Market Street. Don't drive by; these folks are the real deal. And afterwards, when you are stuffed like I am, take a minute and look across the road and listen. You will hear the sounds of a great little town lifting itself by its bootstraps! boni approbandi

Winner of our pie-off, pecan pie category So, a coworker and I arranged a pie-off to gauge which bakery had the best pies in two categories-- cherry and pecan. Grand Traverse Pie Co won the Cherry Pie category and Ranch House won the Pecan Pie category. Can't vouch for the regular food, but the pecan pie was uber yum. Pecans were flavorful, goo was rich without being too much, and the crust was good.

We were out in Arizona and drove up to Yarnell for breakfast and stopped here based on a recommendation from my brother-in-laws friend. If you are driving through, stop.. I'll say it again IF YOU ARE DRIVING THROUGH, STOP. No idea what lunch might be like but if it's anything like the breakfast it will be damn good. I had the spanish omelet. Excellent omlet, full of cheesy, spanishy goodness. I ordered the hashbrowns crisp and they came out perfectly cooked just the way they should be. They don't use frozen potatoes but they are pre-cooked. But still and excellent hashbrown overall. You can taste that old diner grill flavor in them. Sis-in-law had blueberry pancakes even though they weren't on the menu. Also very good. Brother-in-law had biscuits and gravy. Biscuits were excellent, but gravy not so much. Not alot of sausage in the sausage gravy. My wife had the veggie omelet, also good but she was annoyed that it was packed with cheese even though it did not mention cheese being in the omelet (she doesn't eat cheese). Based on my breakfast I would have rated them 5 stars but the other meals brought them down a star. However, all in all a great great breakfast stop. Next time I'm in Yarnell, I'll be sure and stop for breakfast or lunch. My brother-in-law said he will be a regular. Service was excellent too. Note - for motorcyclists, the road up is a great motorcycle road. Worth the drive for sure.

Friendly service, delicious food, comfy-cozy decor and incredible views on the drive up...it doesn't get any better than that? For us "Valley of the Sun" people, the fact that it was snowing as we were leaving, was just a bonus. Next time we're heading out this way, we'll definitely make a slight detour for a hearty meal. Or, like today, if we just feel like heading out of town for a few hours, this is a wonderful destination. FYI--if you do feel like enjoying this restaurant, make sure to have cash, they don't accept credit cards.

It's a small Diner with a nice atmosphere, and the staff is very friendly, as others have said they do not accept credit/debit cards, so bring cash, they have a ATM, but it charges $4. Ordered the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs, while it was a large portion, the biscuits were bland and the gravy was way to salty. The eggs were not scrambled, seemed like just a egg that had the yoke broke on the griddle and mixed in. Overall, not a bad place, but for the price, I've had better and wouldn't recommended stopping here. If not for the friendly staff, it would have been one star..

This restaurant did not disappoint! While visiting friends in Glendale, Arizona, we decided to take a road-trip to Yarnell to check out the Ranch House. Breakfast diners, drive-ins, and dives are what we do! The four of us ordered different breakfast entrees. The biscuits and gravy were homemade and Grade A! The Farmer's Breakfast, Rancher's Breakfast, and their special of day which consisted of two eggs, beans, and two enchiladas were all on the money! To much for any of us to eat though. As other reviewers have stated the portions are huge. You won't go away hungry by ordering a half order. The inside of the restaurant is small and quite charming. The wait staff were attentive and fun. It was worth the drive and we highly recommend giving it a try! P.S. They only accept cash. There is an ATM on site if you forget.

Late March, 2011: This place was packed with both locals and visitors when I stopped here for lunch today. Service was good, regardless. I ate at the counter and had a burger, medium rare, and water. I bought a cinnamon roll to go, which I haven't eaten yet. Later, the cinnamon roll was good.

2 stars means "I've experienced better" That about sums up our Ranch House experiences. Not bad, but nothing special, except the quantities, which match the hig prices.. Biscuits and gravy........The biscuit is light and fluffy and cake-like, with none of the texture and light browning that we are used to. The gravy is also light and lacks character. As in no sausage or pan scrapings. Tastes like it was made in a hurry or came out of a can. The :Cheese and Onion Enchilada was mostly onion. Didn't taste the cheese at all. I am usually an onion lover, but this was an onion overload. The refried beans are nothing special, and need a better salsa than they serve to pep them up. The BLT is pretty good, but palls in comparison to Zeke's in Prescott. The hash browns are pretty good, well-crisped on both sides. Most of the offerings we have had are just OK, nothing special. The service is good. We eat there only when we are with others who want to go there. That is usually because of its convenient location, not the grub.

"Delightful piece of Americana on a beautiful drive. Service was excellent and the menu should satisfy anyone seeking comfort food along the route. This place, along with its owner has a lot of personality. Great experience!

A nice destination for motorcycles. A real friendly staff, with large sized portions. Good food overall, but certainly not something extraordinary. The main drawback is your bill seems a little high. Nevertheless, high marks for friendliness and location.

At 6am this was a wonderful sight! Then the friendly, service was outstanding, even though the place filled up almost immediately! Drinks were refilled quickly, whether coffee or water or soda, and reading glasses appeared for those squinting at the menu! The veggie omelet was outstanding with large chunks of fresh zucchini, various peppers, onions and excellent home made salsa on the side. Yes, it was huge, which actually made for a great lunch later in the day! All the antiques and crafts and photos on the walls made it fun to learn about the area! Going back soon!
