Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.
Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics
Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Avoid Soup bowls and opt for cups instead at Village Inn.
Food Suggestions for Diabetics at Village Inn
2 Egg Low-Cholesterol Egg Substitute Omelette with Part-Skim Mozzarella
If you are concerned about high blood pressure, then you must try food items from the kid's menu at Village Inn as most food items on their regular menu are high in sodium. However, you can always bet on salads for rescue. Instead of dining alone, you can visit the Village Inn in groups to keep the sodium intake in check.
Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Sausage Links & Eggs, Sausage Patties & Eggs, Biscuit & Gravy with Eggs, 6 oz. Top Sirloin Eggs, Ham Steak & Eggs, Egg Benedict, and Country Benedict from Village Inn's breakfast menu. It is also recommended to skip the Skillet options at Village Inn for its high sodium content. Among the omelets, avoid Denver Omelette, Country Music Star Omelette, and French Spinach & Bacon Omelette. You must also skip Sandwiches and All-World Double Cheeseburger every time you visit Village Inn.
Food Suggestions for High Blood Pressure at Village Inn
Most items served at Village are made up of eggs, bacon, chicken, or steak. Hence, these food items are often high in cholesterol. You can try the salad items, juices, or light breakfast items from the menu to keep the cholesterol in check. You can also try food from the kid's menu to ensure that you consume fewer calories than usual.
Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for High Cholesterol
You must skip burgers and sandwiches at the Village Inn as these items are very high in cholesterol. You should also avoid the Garden Salads menu at Village Inn except for Southwest Salad, lunch size. You can order all the soups, but you must avoid Tomato Basil Bowl and Wisconsin Cheese Bowl. Almost everything on the dinner menu is also high in cholesterol and must be avoided. Also, skip shakes at Village Inn.
Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Village Inn
Food fine ...chicken fried steak & pies People seemed nice just seemed like they treated us as we were invisible. Too bad we leave a crazy 30% or more for exceptional service... Not the case tonight.

Best save this place for breakfast only. Sat. night service is weak and woefully understaffed. Once we were seated, it took about 8 minutes before we saw a waitress. My wife directed me to look up, and I saw that directly over our heads there were two ceiling tiles missing. We could see the electrical cables and ductwork. But what was clearly non-descript was the quality of the food they serve for dinner.. We have had several breakfasts here and all were quite good. I ordered a bowl of chili. It was not hot and outside of the bite of the jalepeno peppers, had little taste. (Red Robin's chili is MUCH better). My wife had turkey (hold the cranberry sauce) with mashed potatoes and a biscuit.. She asked for butter for the biscuit which she never got. When I asked her how it was, her response was 'edible'. That ll being said, we will still go there for breakfast, but pass on lunch or dinner.

Let me preface this review by saying that our service was FIVE-STAR (hands down). The food was good...but nothing particularly outstanding. We came here to eat on May 18th after driving in from Los Angeles. There were NINE of us and we were tired and hungry for a decent meal. You can only eat so much Mickey Dees, Burger King and Wendy's. We were seated almost immediately and our server (don't recall her name now) was very funny and friendly. Our food came quickly and we ate, talked, lounged and were not rushed out at all. I had the Cobb Salad, my brother and wife had the pork chops, the kids had burgers (go figure) - and I don't recall what my sister had. The food was good enough and the staff there seemed genuinely happy to have us there. Now THAT is hospitality!!! When we were leaving, our waitress told us that we were "fun"! Hmmm, funny! We were thinking the same thing about her.

So here's the low down, We have eaten here several times and EVERY-TIME, we have gotten Victoria as our waitress. Maybe our restaurant angel's are watching out for us, but either way the service was amazing~ Victoria ROCKS!!!! Fantastic waitress..and from now on, we will ask for her if we do not get her! The food is good, service was fast and the Manager IS FUNNNNNY! I love this location. It's not close to us, we go out of our way to eat here, and Now....I know why! ps....and btw--- if you like sweet things~ I HIGHLY recommend the Caramel Pecan Sauce on your pancakes...((not on the menu, but just ask for it)) M-M-YUMMM! A splurge worth every calorie!

When we are in Tucson we always eat breakfast here. Hubby's eggs arrive over- easy and the French toast is ok. No complaints. Service at times is hit or miss. Restaurant is clean. Coffee cups are kept full, orange juice is served chilled. It's a good way to start the day. We will be back!

Its not the freakin' Ritz Carlton of dining experiences, but it's not a standing health code violation either (I hope, at least)! The food is bland (like Denny's, IHOP, etc.), but the waitress I had the last time I went was friendly. My mom, sister, and I went here on our way home from a shopping excursion. My mom, the pickiest of picky when it comes to dining out, found something wrong with her food (as usual), but my sister and I were happy with our's. Would I make it a regular place to visit when I'm down in Tucson? No. Would I go there if nothing else was open? You betcha!

A must miss....head to Bobo's. We thought it looked interesting, but was not aware it was a chain like Denny's. The cheese omellette was not good, the bacon and sausage tasted like it was cooked yesterday, the service was weak., at best.. And yet, they charge as if it was gourmet. I will never try a Village Inn again. Period.

Quick review to hit a few points: Good when they're properly staffed. Bad when there's one server for the entire restaurant -- and it's 6pm. Good when the cooks are focused on getting the food out. Bad when they're discussing who's sleeping with who's girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse/random guest and talking loud enough to be heard over patrons and in the far corners of the dining room. Indoor voices...and then half of that. Portions can be decent, unless there's a lazy cook busy talking (see above) and they're under the impression that six French fries constitutes a portion. They are horrible with large groups when it comes to said groups wanting separate checks. My last visit here, I waited 30 minutes at the register (no, I'm not kidding) while a manager and a clearly befuddled server tried to get a table of 14 cashed out. There were NINE checks. You don't wait for them to get to the register; you print out the entire bill, hand them a pen and tell them to at least diagram out who's paying for what. (Realistic? Not in the slightest. But proper planning at the start = fewer patrons waiting to pay. At least that's the hope.) I wish they were 24 hours. But you take what you can get. My criticism notwithstanding, the food and pie is pretty good. And free pie on Wednesdays...that's never a bad thing. ;-)

Very friendly servers and staff! Personable and very entertaining and enjoyable to chat with. They go the extra mile and make you feel welcome and appreciated. The food was excellent and even short handed this crew pulled it together to make sure I was satisfied and full. Omg the pies are to die for !!

I've gone here for about 8 years with my mom and grandma and have never had a bad experience. This place gives a nice comfy feeling and the servers are always very polite. The food is pretty decent, and the pie is great. Make sure you go on a Wednesday, you get a free slice of pie!

The pie is great, if you order it to go. When dining in, you'll notice everything is dirty, the service is slow and the employees/managers are rude and a little trashy - especially when you hear their personal (dramatic and inappropriate) conversations from the kitchen.

My husband and I went here after a horrible experience involving one of our favorite restaurants. This place is pretty consistent for having decent comfort food on the cheap, so we figured this was the place to go. We were right; the manager seated us and was quite nice. I'll start out by saying I ordered the huevos rancheros with green chili, and that I am very picky about my huevos rancheros. I was within inches of having to look around to make sure I wasn't back in New Mexico eating at El Camino. The waitress asked me how I wanted my eggs poached, something I have never been asked anywhere. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak dinner with chicken noodle soup, which I know, most of you will say is a no-no when going to a place that is best known for their breakfast food. He said it wasn't half bad and the chicken noodle soup is a major childhood memory for him, but the broccoli that he ordered with the dinner took the cake. He had me try some, and if it wasn't fresh, they are doing some miraculous things in the kitchen to get frozen broccoli to taste fresh and not be soggy. We had a pleasant conversation with the manager when we checked out, which was nice after the bad experience we had earlier. All in all, a good cheap meal for two hungry young adults for under thirty dollars with tip.

I ate here last night, as I was staying at a hotel nearby and didn't feel like driving. As a vegetarian, there were few options although I didn't expect much to begin with. I ordered a breakfast burrito minus the meat and a slice of pie. I substituted avocado for the meat, but when I looked at the bill it seems like I got charged for it because the burrito was $1 more than in the menu. I was getting it to go, so shortly after I ordered the server came out and mentioned the beans had lard. No big deal, she offered to add veggies, which was fantastic and the reason for 2 stars. When I got back to the hotel, the burrito looked pretty meager and when I started eating it, it had no potatoes, which was one of the few ingredients left that it should have had. I paid $9.79 for this burrito and was still hungry after I ate it (it didn't come with any sides). Based on this experience, I would not eat at another Village Inn. The service was really good, though, but that doesn't make up for the crappy food.

It was the only place open at 10pm on a Monday night. I wasn't impressed with the food. I had the philly melt and fries. The philly melt was a little greasy but the fries were good. It was decent and I was hungry. The Banana Cream Pie I had was good. The service was decent also... but she forgot the side of ranch I ordered.

ambiance at night: The only thing I like about this place is the ambiance at night, which is dark, quiet and not crowded with excessive meat heads. The food is overpriced, of the variety found at most "mass audience" eateries, stale, lacking any spice or taste and looks like something zapped in a microwave. Basically it's "disgusting". Don't eat here whatever you do unless you are a sadist or are a trucker. Service is mediocre, staffed by "I'm so tired so I'll be rude to you employees", on a particular evening I enjoyed the agitated look of the seater, who rudely tossed dirty menus at us once seated. It's a corporate chain so you're better off heading to local businesses like: Bobo's Restaurant (2938 E Grant Rd), Wags Sandwiches (4026 E Grant Rd), Broadway Cafe (4330 East Broadway), Grill (100 E Congress St), Gus Balon's Restaurant (6027 E 22nd St), Austin's Ice Cream or other mom & pop joints.
