Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics

Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Avoid Soup bowls and opt for cups instead at Village Inn.

I came in to village inn on speedway and columbis tonight. I was greeted by a huge smile from the manager, she then sat me and told me Josh would be my server. Josh was funny and attentive. When my food arrived it was beautifuly presented and tasted even better. I found out that the cook on duties name was Jesse. Every time I come in now I'll have my fingers crossed in hope that he's going to be the cook on duty. Perfect service and excellent food. This staff completely put a smile on my face. Who knew just stopping in for a bite could be THAT satisfying. Recommend this place to everyone!!!!

What are you going to do? It's Christmas morning, no breakfast in the house and places to go and people to see. But what's open on Christmas? Village Inn on Speedway, that's what! Well, the place was busy, busy. And, by the time we left, mobbed with a crowd waiting. But, you wouldn't know it from the good efficient service we got not only from waitstaff but also the kitchen (that had to have been going crazy!). We both had the 2+2+2. Eggs and sausage were standard, but the pancakes were just great, 2 small ones, a perfect size. Wife's pancake was badly overdone on the bottom--but no big deal all things considered.

Food was good, slightly high priced for the quality but good. My crepe was huge though and more than I could eat. My grand daughter wanted the chocolate chip pancakes but didn't eat them after she got them. Not sure why. She's a picky eater at times but she loves chocolate. Maybe it's not a good flavor for pancakes.

This location has gone downhill! Ordered a Denver omelet and it was not that good. Ordered coffee and it was lukewarm and when asked waitress to take the coffee back she just took pot and left the cup of cold coffee. I added a 10% tip but she changed it to 22%! This is an illegal and poorly run business.

This place is like a local Ihop or Denny's. But it is a flashback to the 70's. It reminds me of the Jetsons for some reason. Anyhow, the food is fabulous!!!! I love this place. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnndddd who wouldn't love Free Pie Wednesdays. Order a meal and get a free pie. I think think this place is better known for its pies rather than its food. Come check it out!!!!!

Wow, Village Inn has gone downhill. Talk about your average run of the mill type diner. The olive oil containers looked dirty and one was chipped badly. And the foods and prices are just nothing to jump for. A cup of soup felt like it came from a can (three bucks?) and the side salad was so average and plain. The service was so-so. I think you only come to Village Inn for the pie and maybe specials, but otherwise, eat somewhere distinctive and local for a meal.

Triple Berry Pie. Triple Berry Pie. Triple Berry Pie. How have I been going this long in life without knowing about the Triple Berry Pie at Village Inn?!?! Thanks to my fellow Yelpers, I have found myself in Village In. More times than I care to admit over the last few months chasing just one more slice of Triple Berry Pie. I'd love to be able to review anything else from this establishment, but this is all I've had! And it NEVER disappoints. About $3 per slice or $10 for an entire pie.

It was Pi Day and we couldn't find pie in downtown Tucson. What the heck?! So I hit up Yelp and we drove down Speedway to get us some Village Inn. We had a little wait to be seated, as they needed to clean a lot of tables first, but once we sat our server was as sweet as could be. The pie selection was low because apparently everyone had gone there for Pi Day, but they still had some of our top choices. I ordered Chocolate Caramel Delight and my husband ordered Lemon Meringue and coffee. Our pie slices were set before us. Angels sang. Our Pi Day was made right.

A mixed bag, yet enough positives to warrant a recommendation. I went for breakfast, enjoyed a Country Music Star Omelet. Mammoth omelet with bacon, ham, sausage filling, cheese and country gravy on top. Very tasty. The hash browns were not the greasy kind, but moist inside and crispy on top. More healthful, and to me, better tasting. I substituted toast for the pancakes, I like that they allow that. Nice thick slides of bread. The menu is expansive, and you can go greasy huge if you want to or fresh and modest portion, or any combination thereof. Coffee is on the better side of diner quality, which is to say okay not great. My waitress was attentive but not overbearing. Nice people all the way around. The restaurant has a worn aging exterior. The interior is mixed. Old ceiling, but the carpet and tables/chairs have been updated. It's pleasant. The restrooms were kind of dirty, and not just that-day-dirty but we're talking hard-core urine salt deposits beneath the urinals. This was my first time ever to a Village Inn and I would certainly go again.

Went out to get pancakes on National Pancake Day (2/5). Drove by IHOP which was giving away a free short stack, but it was packed, so we drove on to Village Inn. No wait to get in and our waitress was very friendly. Mom and I decided to stay with pancakes. I got blueberry ones. Hubby got some kind of skillette. Our food came quickly and was delicious. This was such a nice change after the other VI we ate at. I suppose it all depends on the manager, doesn't it!

Village Inn was pretty much what I expected it to be. This location has a nice diner atmosphere with good service. I was pleased with my breakfast for dinner dish, especially for the low prices. However, only one thing on their menu sounded appealing, so unless I want eggs, I won't be coming here. Another reason this restaurant gets 3 stars is that I brought home left overs and everything was brown by the next day. That doesn't make me think highly of their food quality.

The cheese soup was very good and the peanut butter cup pie was awesome but the grilled tuna sandwich was less than desireable. It tasted like they spread oil on the bread to grill it and the tuna tasted like they took it out of the can and added nothing but celery to it. It had no flavor at all, overall not good. Maybe if they added Mayo or more mayo if they did add it to the tuna, it would have been better. And use butter or something with flavor to grill the bread.

Crossing the threshold of village inn was comparable to stepping through a portal to some foreign land, like New Mexico. Our waiter was aggressively nice and the waitstaff was above average attractiveness. No women working, so gender inequality. Would eat pie again

This place makes me wish that YELP could give half stars. I would give this place 3.5 starts if I could. I do have to say this place is better than your regular IHOP or Dennys. You can get a good filling meal for two people for just around $20 and that's a great selling point for me. No, the food won't blow your mind as the most amazing thing that ever happened but for $20, you will be satisfied. A lot of people do come here, but my friend and I only waited about 10 minutes for a table. The place is fairly clean and has a similar feel to Dennys/IHOP. The coffee was good and they leave you with a pot so you can refill yourself. Service was swift and our server was friendly. My friend had an issue with the bathroom not working. She told the people at the front desk and they acknowledged it, though they didn't say "sorry" or "thanks" for informing them. Overall, not bad, decent, but not fantastic. You get what you pay for which isn't a bad thing.

This was one of my favorite places to eat in college after a night of libations and activities of questionable legality. Frankly, I wasn't sure if my memory of the quality of the food was accurate or not but Katemonster (girlfriend of Nickzilla) wanted to try it out. The staff was super friendly but not creepy, theme-restaurant friendly and greeted all the regulars by name. The table was operating room clean and the food was served piping hot. I would probably give this place five stars if their coffee was better or if the kitchen could make a proper poached egg. Never the less, try the V.I.B. menu, more tasty breakfast than you should be able to eat for $6.49. Two (big) breakfasts, orange juice and coffee: less than $20.00

I still really like the ambiance, service, and food at Village Inn but, as with many food chains, looking at the on line nutrition info will cause you to be shocked or horrified but the amount of fat, calories, carbs, and cholesterol you are consuming. (Ohhhhh....my! I will have to pay dearly for my dinner.)

We were looking for a breakfast place nearby and this place had good reviews on yelp. Inside, it looked like a crappy IHOP. However, the servers were truly genuinely friendly. The food options were quite varied and prices very reasonable. I liked how the portions were a nice size (not too much food, I don't like being wasteful). Also, the food wasn't drenched in oil either, like some other breakfast places. I feel bad not giving them a 4 star like most of the other reviewers... our server and the greeters were really nice! Good service buys you lots of points in my book ... but the facilities were in disrepair. Inside is a bit dingy and then... the kicker was that the bathroom didn't work. :-( There are only 2 toilet stalls and the one I went in had some junk floating in the toilet bowl. Luckily, because of that, I flushed before using it. And that made me see that it didn't work at all. I tried waiting for the stall next door but there was someone sitting in there forever. =[ Finally I gave up and left. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day... but that experience ended on a negative note.

Interesting. This place actually looked better than the seedier Denny's with gangbangers outside just a few blocks away. So we roll into here at about 1 AM. Only one other father/son team was finishing dinner at that hour. The staff was hanging out in the back booth where the "chef" gave me the once-over, and not in a good way. We sit down, order our food. I didn't get sick so he didn't poison it. Then again it was fried cheese. Waitress was extremely friendly. It was interesting as after we were served she went over to the booths where you wait to be seated and in came her crackhead boyfriend. They shared some times together, he scrounged a free soda off her, and then she came back to check on our food! Bonus points for her. She dropped off the check and went back to the crackhead boyfriend. As we left he was working the payphone. I never got to see how that drama ended. Annoyance: The ATM swiper is programmed to ask you for a tip and the only way to avoid it (if you leave it on the table) is to say Yes and then enter 0. Annoyance: This is Tucson. It is hot even at night. Please A/C your restrooms! The restrooms were seriously in the upper 90s. Tucson, you can sure show this Californian a good time! Overall, a solid 3 * performer.

I love this place because it is open after hrs, the server is just great, she knows what like, always makes me feel welcome, although it is a lot similar to other restaurants that serve pan cakes, it is all about the service and the lady who serves me every time I go there makes me feel welcome, never rushes me, even if I am the only and last one, she has even gone out of her way to bring me the type so hot salsa that I like even if they do not carry it . I have being there so many times you would think I should know her name, but I do not, shame on me. but any how, I think the best time to go is late at night when there are just a few patron dining. I am a loner and the like to enjoy a quiet place.
