5 days a week I drive by this joint, 4 times a day...at least 20 times a week. Minimum. And as I drive by at 7:30 in the morning on a Monday-Friday commute, I wonder what's going on inside that kinda creepy rectangular dive with curtained double glass doors that front Speedway. What kinda people are there at oh so early in the a.m.? I've been intrigued and repulsed by these questions for twenty years. Well this morning, drum roll please, I can scratch going to the Bambi off my Tucson bucket list. The Bambi is that dark tiny space where the pros go to get the breakfast of champions...booze sweet booze. I sat next to some guys that could have been patriots or mid level cocaine dealers. I really don't want to know. I just listened to snippets of their early morning glabber...SWAT coming and raiding their rental, weapons, homemade explosives and home repair. Whatev. I tried hard to remember the room, the four drafts on tap, the crazy sad Halloween decorations, the Jaeger machine. It was woody- weird- dirty, and I felt completely at home. I gotta agree 100% with Lindsay C's review of the Bambi...I love this bar too. Bonus surreal Bambi induced revelation: Kevin Bacon's solo dance in "Footloose" is the same as Jennifer Beal's crazy welder wet t-shirt dance in "Flashdance". I'm pretty f-ing sure about it.

The Bambi was a bar I frequented often with friends when I arrived in Tucson back in 2006. I may not go as much anymore (because I've moved), but when I visit friends (like I did a two months ago) it is on the list. What can I say? I love dives. True Dives, and The Bambi is just that... A hole in the wall where your locals come to drown the day... What do I mean drown? Celebrate the day. The Bambi along with a few other choice bars can say that it has been around since Tucson was known for it's dirt roads. It is a piece of the city, and I'll go so far as to say Southwest Americana. Anywno, let me get off Ye Olde Soapbox. I've always had good service when I go. I don't go enough to be considered a regular, but good service for A. Rando. I also always, always, ALWAYS, purchase something of the liquor variety. Why? Because they pour, and pour quite well, and I don't think I ever pay more than $5.00 a glass. My tab is never horrendous, et all, and I leave with a very appropriate buzz. I have nothing bad to say about The Bambi Bar whatsoever... I mean it's a classic and true dive, and that my fellow Yelp'rs is why I will always visit The Bambi when I'm back in town.

The Bambi is everything a dive bar should be. Wood panel walls, a couple of regulars at the bar, country music, and a stuffed animal machine. The bartender was sooo nice to us. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves for our short stop there. Cheap drinks, friendly staff... doesn't get much better.

I am very torn when it comes to the Bambi. I absolutely love it, and yet I could list a million reasons why my logical self would hate it? I started making a long Pros and Cons list for everyone but I think the best review is to say if you are in Tucson, you should probably stop by the bambi at some time or another. I stick to my incredibly strong jack and cokes while there, or MAYBE an icy pitcher of cheap beer.. anything else seems warm and scary. It is VERY dark, and can seem frightening at times, but I have never seen any problems or confrontations between the patrons, nor have I ever felt uncomfortable there. The staff is very friendly and sweet, and most of them pour some very good drinks. They have a varying single 2$ food special every day which I gawked at for the first 6 months of visits, but then went for the pulled pork sandwich when I was particularly ravenous and it really hits the spot. I have heard every male friend say that they "hold it until they go home" rather than use the mens bathroom at the Bambi, but the women's restroom is quite acceptable. I have been in Tucson for a little over 2 years, and although I have great company while at the Bambi because of my friends, the place really contributes to the good time as well.

Now this is what I'd consider to be one of the few truly amazing mid-town working man's bars in Tucson. Not only is the place in good shape, but they have maintained a devoted crowd while managing to avoid selling out to the "micro handcrafted raspberry bullshit" themes that seem to be overtaking the country. I recently visited the Bambi after a decade spent in another part of the county in which taverns of this sort still thrive. I bellied up to the bar and found it to be stocked with one of the finer whiskeys available in nearly no other bar in this town. The service is kind and slow. The drinks are stiff and the prices fair. Also the staff (all of them) are well trained in the art of not over-serving. Each bartender I've encountered has had their wits about them and has protected the interest of the bar at every turn. This is a true Tucson gem. Sleazy enough to be listed as a dive but smart enough to remain open long after so many others have disappeared.

Best dive bar in Tucson. They just got Dragoon IPA on-tap and it's a very cheap place to drink. What else can you ask for?

Been a few times, and enjoyed every visit. But then, I'm a fan of dive bars. Reasonably priced drinks. Good service and fun regulars.

The bar was ok but the prices think they are a high class bar. It's stupid expensive. $8.00 for a small pitcher of beer. And almost $5.00 for a Dos XX bottle.... I'd rather go somewhere else if I'm gonna spend that much. With that being said the staff is excellent and very friendly

Okay first off, there is a "Bambi the" business added to Yelp! and I have no idea what this person was drinking when they attempted to add this business, but I'm rescuing the Bambi Bar! You must understand, I'm a fan of dive bars. It's not the sleaze or the karaoke that brings me to my knees (odd choice of words, eek)... it's the camaraderie shown by the "regulars" that is often extended to the most unusual of guests, namely yours truly. I checked in to the Bambi at 11:00am on a Sunday morning... sad, I know, but I was waiting for an oil change. The bar was surprisingly full, with 12+ people sitting around the bar, outside on the cement slab of a patio, or playing pool. The bartender, bless her tattooed heart and crushed velvet soul, was happy-go-lucky, interacting with each and every patron with a one-two punch of jabs and one-liners. A friend and I sat down, ordered two drinks (myself a gin, tonic and bitters, she a vodka/OJ) and WOW were they strong! Heavy handed would be an understatement. We quickly invited 3 of our closest friends to join us. They have pool tables, darts, a jukebox, board and trivia games, as well as plenty of neon signage, caricature portraits and the odd picture of a kitten on the wall. The smell of chili dogs wafted through the air and to be honest, I would have eaten one if I were hungry. Also had chips, beef jerky and peanuts for snacks. Here's the real kicker: I bought 6 drinks for $12. I'm pretty sure the bartender was being cool, but she said that my well drink was only $2.50. And I was buzzed after one! Imagine the possibilities! Grab some friends and hit up the Bambi on a lazy Sunday afternoon (or any other time for that matter), grab the Mind Trap cards from beneath the stack of smoke-infused phone books, and enjoy your company-- you'll probably realize (like I did) that this is one of the coolest dive bars ever. Love you Bambi! xoxo, Me.
