The best fish tacos i have ever had, and i frequent mexico often. Hands down amazing!!

This place is tucked away from the road with a non-descript sign. I drove right past it and had to turn around and drive back to finally find it, but so glad I did! Both the fish and the shrimp tacos here were outstanding. As good as the best I had just eaten down in southern Baja. Portions tip towards the large side, so 2 tacos with 3 tortillas was enough to make myself 3 hearty tacos thanks to the serve-yourself toppings bar. Loved the cole slaw-style shredded cabbage and sauce, and the chipotle sauce was excellent as well. To complete the experience, they also had excellent Limonada with mineral water-- just like being back in Mexico! While most great fish taco places are often food trucks or corner street stands, this particular location offers a nice indoor setting with granite tabletops and comfortable seating. Gourmet fish taco dining at its best!!!

Been here so many times and still loving their food. The fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and marlin tacos are all outstanding. The parking lot can fill up really fast so you might want to get here early to avoid the lunch crowd.

Omg I cannot explain how delicious this place is its puts me in a great mood.i ordered a fish taco with cerviche tostada the fish is amazingly cook with a great flavor. The cerviche great amount of food and very affordable. It looks like a garage or food from a taco truck but the food is great and the area is clean

Excellent cuisine, but the menu sign is inaccurate, and needs updating. Large drinks prices are 4.50, but the only price on the sign is 2 bucks. This caused unnecessary confusion.

This place is tricky to find. I drove right past it and had to flip a U-turn. But it was totally worth it. The interior is charming. It has a covered patio, charming fish decorations, and a hand-washing sink. It reminds me of a San Carlos taqueria. I had the taco de marlin (swordfish taco) and the taco campechano. Boyfriend and I also split the cocktail de cameron (shrimp cocktail). The cameron was mediocre, and probably the lamest thing about our visit. It wasn't priced badly ($8 for about 12 oz), but it was shockingly bland. THOSE TACOS THO. Oh my god. Best fish tacos ever. I loved the marlin taco. Somehow, Taco Fish has perfected battering and frying fish. It was delectable and perfectly crispy without being over-fried or too greasy. I got my tacos all gussied up with some salsa, lime, and coleslaw. Their salsa alone is to-die-for and oh so spicy! The taco campechano was sooo good. I was expecting shrimp and fish served separately, but instead they were shredded and seasoned in an orgasmic blend. Very hearty, for a taco! The only thing that kind of sucks is you have to buy soda by the can... but, whatever. That's a small price to pay for some of Tucson's finest fish tacos. I cannot believe I've lived in Tucson for 8 years and yesterday was my first time eating here. I haven't been living. It's sad. But at least now I know. Check this place out!

  • Olivia B.

Was ok. The best part was the salsa and fixings. The fish was really greasy, I prefer Rubios if I get a fish taco. Was really small and expensive. What is up with expensive fish tacos here?

  • Cassandra S.

I love their shrimp tacos and shrimp tostadas so fresh and full of flavor. Love the assortment of sauces and garnishing too. The place is very well kept, pretty, and clean.

  • Niko G.

The food is good and it can get expensive but otherwise good. I really like the shrimp soup, shrimp tacos, or the chili cheese taco. I like going here but only if I'm ready to spend money.

I loved this place! I was visiting for a short time with my family and I brought my parents to Taco Fish. Finding the place was a little challenging and parking was crowded, but we made it with one wrong turn They'd never had fish tacos before. I love fish tacos and I was thrilled with the food. I loved the different toppings and condiments. My parents tried the shrimp and plain fish and they were also happy with their orders. I would definitely return if I go back to Tucson!

I've been eyeing this place for months and I am so glad we finally went. We had fish taco, shrimp taco, and shared a small shrimp cocktail. Everything was delicious, reminded me of the mariscos back home in Agua Prieta!!

Loved it! The Taco Gordo was great, as was the Shrimp Taco. Great food, and very friendly service. If I lived here, I'd come by every week.

This is really my second review of Taco Fish, but first for this location. Like I said for the truck one on Stone, BEST FISH TACO and BEST SHRIMP in Tucson. Its made so simple and you add the condiments as you please. All the sauces are wonderful. My bf and I make sure we get a fish and shrimp taco each. We share the ceviche and anything else we feel like getting for the day. This place is built really funny. Its like a permanently covered patio dining area. So its like they bought the building and it was only big enough to put a kitchen in it. So they place patio chairs outside and built a huge wall to make it look like they extended the building but once you walk into the restaurant its still open-ish in the back area. I'm really not bothered by it. I think it was a clever way to make use of space. Everything is kept very nice and clean as always. This is the spot Tucsonians!!!!!

The restaurant is near the VA hospital. Its remote and next to the insurance office. It could easily be missed if not pay attention closely. the Shrimp and Fish tacos are $3 each. They come with flour tortillas. There is an salsa bar and sauces that you would have to add to the tacos unless prefer to eat it plain. The fried shrimp and fish tacos are a little greasy. It's a decent place for grabbing a quick lunch, however the tacos are a little pricey.

  • JoseLuis L.

The food had great flavor and was plenty. I had the "taco campechano" fish and shrimp taco. Nice big pieces fish and whole shrimp. We wanted horchata but they were all out. I also liked the way the building was set up its almost like eating outside but everything is covered. Overall the food was tasty and good portions for what you pay.

First I fell in love with Bianka at the register, then, I fell in love with the marlin quesadilla that I ordered from her. Prices were more than reasonable, and it was pretty busy for lunch on a Friday, so be prepared to have no seating. Tortillas on the quesadilla could be a little softer but other than that I can't really complain. Fish was fresh (or seemed fresh at least) and at $3.50 it is hard to be unimpressed with the quality. Whatever you do, don't pick at the fish with your hands. I'm back at work and my fingers smell like I had a really wild night.

  • Jesus M.

Great place to sit down and eat. It used to be a carreta (kind of like a food truck) but they finally opened up a restaurant not too long ago. It is kind of pricy (3 to 3.50 a taco) but depending on which you get they give you 2 tortillas and you can make 2 tacos from one because they stack it. One thing is that there is flies in the seating area so you have to dodge them and swap them away while you eat, just like a traditional Mexican taco stand in Mexico. I love it haha but can do away with the flies.

  • Mike L.

Decor- a little strange...half restaurant and half taco stand. From the front it looks like any brand new block building. Inside there. Is a order counte, granite table tops, a sink in the corner and no back wall. Also parking is limited and tight. Food- simple and amazing. Simply the best fish taco in Tucson. There is only a few items on the menu; fish, shrimp, chili relleno ( not the stuffed, fried kind) and Marlin. You can combine the various items in a taco or a quesadilla. There is also ceviche and shrimp soup. The condiment bar is what makes the taco. There is a cilantro creama, a spicy mayo, regular mayo, pico, cole slaw, limes and pickled onions. I have eaten in many fish taco stands all over Mexico and this one is as good as any of them

    (5)
  • Travis B.

Best fish taco in town! Only $2.50 per taco, and as others have noted, you really get two tacos for that price, since each comes with four pieces of fish and two tortillas. Of course, the condiment bar - pickled onions, dressed or undressed cabbage, limes, pico de gallo, homemade salsas - is what really makes this place. Dress those bad boys up to your heart's content. My rage burns with the intensity of a thousand suns every year when, inevitably, the good folks of this town decide once again that Rubio's deserves the Best Fish Taco award in the Tucson Weekly.

first of all. FLIES EVERYWHERE. i mean, literally the entire place was covered with flies that are large and small. I truly do not understand how people can give this a positive review. best fish tacos? are you kidding me. I got several lumps of overly fried fish on two tortillas. that's as good as it goes. I didn't bother with using any condiments since the serving area was plagued with flies. homeless guy sleeping outside the restaurant. i'm utterly baffled.

Fantastic fish tacos and shrimp tacos. Come plain (tortilla and fish) so the salsa bar is a must. Really fresh tasting, and hot out of the frier. As a note, they advertise WiFi, but I didn't see any connectable networks.

The worst fish/shrimp tacos, shrimp cocktail I've ever had in my life!! Not to mention the restaurant was dirrty. Have not found any good sea food restaurants or Mexican restaurants in Tucson, nothing comparing to California.. very dissapointed! Never going there again .

  • Michael C.

Great food, very tasty. Fair prices which is very nice along with the taste. The reason I dropped 1 star is parking, what a cramped parking space and lack of enough for the customers! Yet very clean is a nice touch, will go again and....

  • Rich R.

Best. Fish. Tacos. Ever. They should have filmed the movie "I Love You Man" here just for the tacos. They should have filmed all movies here.. Pretty sure Jesus came here and said "estos tacos son los mejores tacos del mundo."

  • Andrew B.

The name says it all. If you want something other than fish tacos, look elsewhere. If you're looking for some really tasty fish tacos for shockingly reasonable prices, then this is most definitely the place. This restaurant is associated with the food truck of the same name on Grant and 6th, so if you've had a taco from that truck, then you know what to expect. Prices say $2.50 for one fish taco, but they give you four pieces of fish per "taco" and 2 corn tortillas, so in reality it's $1.25 per fish taco. That's cheaper than the fish taco Tuesday special at Rubio's, and these fish tacos are a hell of a lot tastier, too. Win-win all around. The shrimp taco costs the same ($2.50 for "2"), the marlin is only $3.00, and yes, they are very delicious as well. All tacos come bare (save for a little bit of mayo or cream on the bottom of the taco), but the condiment table has just about everything you could want. The green cilantro sauce is especially refreshing. A dab of that mixed with a bit of the chipotle crema, and I'm in fish taco heaven. The location is interesting, because while it looks like a regular indoor restaurant from the front, there is no back wall in the dining area, and so eating here is kind of like eating at a very sturdy, very large, immobile food truck. They've got a garage air conditioner and a mesh screen to provide some shade for those sitting close to the back, and so the dining area is nice and cool. I liked it. The only flaws against it are the limited parking and the difficult-to-find...ness... It's extremely easy to miss if you're like me and oblivious to signs that aren't made of metal and lights, so remember to look out for the red and blue flag-banner that reads "Taco Fish." After eating here, I honestly can't imagine getting my fish tacos elsewhere. There might be other tacos out there that are marginally better (probably not in the fish department, though), but the incredible deal puts Taco Fish way over the top.

The Marlin tacos and ceviche are the best here and I really like the way it is set up inside......half indoors half outdoors. Reminds me of Rocky Point a little bit. Great place to eat!

  • Greg E.

Taco fish rules! Each Taco you order comes with 2 tortillas and is really 2 tacos. These are best fish tacos around. The "Fish Taco" and the "Marlin Taco" are my favorites. 2-3 tacos is a full meal and will only run you like 6 bucks. Let me say again, this is the best place for fish tacos period. Their lemonade and Jamaica is also really good. The sauces, and cabbage they offer for toppings are also exceptionally good. While I'm writing this, this is only the second review, but don't be fooled this place is GREAT! Note: There is an associated truck that sits at Grant and 6th Mon-Sat 8-4. I haven't been there but if its anything like the restaurant it will be delicious!

  • Brian H.

Taco Fish has come a long way since their taco trailer in the current restaurant's parking lot. They have the best ceviche and shrimp tacos I have had in Tucson. I like the upscale taqueria feel to this place. Soda's are a rip-off($1.80 per can), but food prices are reasonable for the quality of food there. I'm waiting to see a comparison to Mariscos Chihuahua.

  • Charina G.

Delicious! Delicious! I've been meaning to try this place seeing the reviews and finally had a chance to. Went with my husband and we missed the entrance. It really is easy to miss with the building being far back and the parking lot being small. We ordered 2 fish tacos and OMG so good! Pile on all the goodies from the condiment bar and munch away. Another yelper said that the tacos came with two tortillas so I thought it was odd that one fish taco had two, but the other one only had one. I thought maybe it was just a simple mistake and let it go. Later in the day, I raved about the fish tacos to my parents who were here visiting form California, and took them over to get more fish tacos. This time we ordered 6 tacos, having them put 3 per plate. When we got our order, I realize again, only 1 taco had the two tortillas while the rest were only one. I asked them about the missing tortillas and they said that's how they do it. *Shrug* I dunno, but I found that weird because if one taco gets two tortillas, shouldn't all tacos get 2 no matter how many you order? They were kind enough to give me extra tortillas when I asked for more. Other than that, food is awesome. Best fish tacos in Tucson.

  • Kelly D.

Great fish tacos. I'm always bringing my out of town guest(s) her and they love it as well. Easy to miss the store as you're driving down/up 12th and the parking stinks but it's worth the hassle.

THE BEST fish tacos in Tucson. The simple fish taco comes with fresh fish, lightly battered and fried and then you top it with what you want. You have to try the Chili Cheese Taco. Fresh shrimp in a light crispy batter with gooey cheese and roasted chiles! It is fantastic.

Simple, real, delicious Mexican food that feeds my soul. I'm a gringa who grew up in Mexico MANY years ago, and any time I can find "normal" everyday Mexican food is a good day; Taco Fish gave me a very good day!

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize.
