Sorry, Seis, we were not impressed and we won't be back. We ordered a steak burrito and a pork burrito and while they were large in size, they had too much beans and very little meat. AND the temperature of the burritos were barely warm. We got our food to go so we couldn't send it back. Another problem was all the food was under seasoned especially the $2 side of calabasitas! The calabasitas were dry and there wasn't corn, tomatoes, onions, nothing just squash. Good luck, Seis. You'll need it.

It was alright....took 30 minutes for my quesadilla to arrive filled with YELLOW cheese (?!) And the patio was fly-infested. Beans were not bad. The huarache was decent flavor but not stiff enough.

  • Kelly L.

the shrimp tacos were just lovely! the fried avocado would have been amazing too if they had a little more spice but they were a little bland. the calabicitas weren't great and the black beans on the side were cold. so I would definitely stick with tacos if I go back. on the positive side, the staff were really friendly, got everyone's order correctly, and served us as soon as the food was ready. However, since we paid separately, the food came out individually and there was at least 5 minutes in between one person getting dinner and the other getting theirs which wasn't awesome.

Wow where do I start! Their delicious hand made tortillas, their house chipotle sauce, their perfectly seasoned meats or their refreshing horchata... Everything was savoring! Perfect place to relax and enjoy food. RECOMMEND 100%

Located in San Augustine's Mercado how can you go wrong with the Birria tacos and lunch specials?

Seis catered our wedding two summers ago and it was fantastic - I can not say enough about this place. They were great to work with wedding-wise (very low drama, super helpful and friendly staff, wonderful presentation, very vegetarian/GF/everyone-friendly, AWEsome guac, and food truck was really classy and fun for our wedding. People are still telling us how much they enjoyed the food at our wedding - it was well worth the money. If we got married again, we'd order TWO of these trucks and make them give us one truck worth of leftovers so we could still be eating the food now! :)

  • Nancy Z.

We tried twice. Guac was black, like sitting around, SOGGY hot chips sucked! Using leftovers from day of the dead.( as relayed by the waitress) We were given one fork for two people, Nickeled & dimed for an ice tea refill. Who likes this place? We threw away most of the food. UNEATABLE REALLY, how does it stay open. We will never return. Same thing for the street taco, dried out & hard, Fresh is not part of the program. Fine for tourists, they don't know the difference. Our previous experience was worse

Visited Mercado for the first time this past weekend. Loved the feel of the whole place with all the little shops and food places. We decided to eat at Seis and I and my daughter were very happy. Food was fresh and fabulous and the drinks were so good. We will be coming back for sure.

Poc Chuc salad is delicious and my go-to healthy option in the Mercado! The staff is friendly, warm and efficient. A great asset to the Mercado and a great business to support.

Best fish tacos and breakfast tortas ever!

  • Karissa G.

Great atmosphere with decent street tacos at $2 each. I had the Birrria but preferred my husband's al pastor.

  • Michael R.

Great, acceptably priced Mexican food with delicious salsa. I personally recommend trying the breakfast burrito (any of them, really) with salsa verde. The courtyard is a plus as well.

    (4)
  • Yolanda C.

Excellent tacos and Aguas Frescas. I am very picky about mexican food because I cook it at home and I grew up with family that owned mexican restaurants, shall I say Tex-mex. This place has the best tacos in town and made my belly very happy. So glad I live close by. I plan on using their catering service sometime in the future too. Looking forward to trying their Tortas.

  • Travel P.

Flat out the best Corn Tortillas I've had. Everything I've tried has been great. Taquitos are very good, red and green salsa both amazing. Fairly priced especially considering the quality of ingredients.

Tasty addition to the Mercado. We've become Sunday breakfast regulars. Full flavored burros and excellent service. Outdoor seating in the old convent quad. Coffee shop located here too. Great way to spend a weekend morning!

  • Leslie H.

First, I must say, I'm a bit skeptical about ordering chorizo burros for breakfast anywhere. They tend to ooze grease out of the tortilla as you eat them which is not particularly appealing to me! So I asked if they were really greasy and they assured me that they were not and that they made their own chorizo. Well, let me tell you, the chorizo mild, tasty and not greasy! As far as breakfast burritos go, this is the tastiest one I've had to date! Mom votes for this too- I shared half with her since they are a generous portion size. This is a definite repeat, hopefully they will open at 7:00 am instead of 8:00 so I can make it to work on time spoiled with good food and excellent coffee from Stella's!

  • Jonathan K.

Tried the sit-down restaurant version of Seis, and glad to say still reasonably priced and just as good.

  • Meghan b.

The Crispy Avocado Tacos were fantastic! Their salsa is very fresh and tasty as well. I had a side of calabacitas which were good, but I think I am going to go for the black beans next time instead. I wish the entrees came with a handful of tortilla chips as well, those would have been wonderful with my meal.

  • Deedra M.

My family and I went here for lunch last weekend. The tacos are excellent. We all tried different tacos, some with chicken, pork, shredded beef, and different toppings. The pickled veggies are excellent. The black beans and salss are superb. We also got the taquitos as an appetizer. They tortillas were perfectly crispy, the sauce on top was addicting. The only complaint I had was the smashed beans my dad and I got had absolutely no seasoning. We had to go up and ask for salt, but even that didn't help. We will definitely be visiting again.

  • Jenny N.

This place was great ! We went prior to the hard open because we know the owners. I had eaten at their food truck and had them cater an event previously. I had the salad with chicken, it was great. My husband had tacos which were also tasty. The calabacitas were excellent. We enjoyed the chips and the variety of salsas they provided. The atmosphere is great, the mercado overall is a great place.

  • Jim N.

I love this place! My GF and I eat here about every other week and are never disappointed. The pibil torta is the bomb. The Poc Chuc salad is a great salad that actually tastes good. Breakfast is very tasty too. I often stop in here for lunch after a hard mountain bike ride at Starr Pass as the the food really hits the spot. My only complaint - Please get a liquor license!!! The only thing better than a pibil torta would be a pibil torta with a cold Bohemia!

    (5)
  • Lauren A.

Got the birria, calabacitas, and chicken tacos here. The birria and calabacitas were amazing!! The seating on the patio in the mercado is really wonderful. Great price, super yummy, lovely location.

Good breakfast burritos....excellent green salsa. The salsa gave it that punch. Will have to try this place, right across from new Trolley stp....again.

  • Rebecca G.

Complex layers of incredible flavors ...this place really gets it right. Try any of the award winning tacos, you will be blown away. I've already been here three times this week! My new favorite place for tacos in Tucson.

    (5)
  • Michael N.

I have eaten many times excellent but today ordered a side of black beans 2dollars and 16 cents to go I opened the container when I got home and I could count the beans chinzy is not the word will never go back. Michael.

I liked this place! They were parked outside of Borderlands Brewing Company, and it was sure nice to have a couple of tacos after quenching my thirst. They have a selection of tacos, nachos, and some tasty-looking sliders. If you don't like/eat red meat, however, they did not have any chicken options. We tried the pork tacos and the beef tacos, both of which had cilantro-heavy salsa accompanying them (in a good way). Yum! I would have to say the beef tacos were my favorite, and had a kick of spice to 'em. The man working the truck was also extremely friendly and personable.

Not too shabby! I hit up Seis for the first time at the Tucson Food Truck Roundup and I enjoyed it enough to try it again next time I'm at the roundup or if I see them around town. The chicken as it was described on the menu was supposed to be marinated in citrus juice, and you could have fooled me, I didn't quite get that. I had a decent flavor, nothing as wowy powy as was described though. I did hoever enjoy that the cabbage, cilantro, onion and jalepeno tasted fresh, and the dish overall was lite, a perfect afternoon snack. I asked that they hold the tortillas that were supposed to come with my tacos (paleo) and they accommodated me nicely. It ended up sort of like a food truck burrito bowl!

  • Rachel S.

    Cochinita Pibil, I love you.

  • Ryan N.

We had Seis cater our wedding and we couldn't have asked for more. The food was great, the presentation was exceptional, and the owner (Jake) was more than helpful with the planning and arrangements.

Even though I live in Phoenix - about 1.5 hours from Tucson, I've already eaten here four times over the last 6 weeks. The crispy shrimp torta is fantastic and the horchata has just the right amount of cinnamon!! I hooked my son and husband on this place during our many visits to Ft. Huachuca where my son was temporarily stationed. What I really loved about the torta was that it was seasoned well without trying to burn my mouth will excessive amounts of hot peppers. I appreciate flavor NOT heat from spiced foods. It's much easier for people who love spicy food to add tabasco, japalenos or other spicy additions to their dining selections. Other reviewers need to keep in mind that not everyone loves mouth-burning food. I would love for Seis to open a Phoenix restaurant, since the quality of Mexican food in the Phoenix area leaves a lot to be desired. The mercado where Seis is located is quite charming and directly across from a trolley stop, super convenient!

So delicious!!! I love that they make Paleo options too! Great prices & friendly service! 5 stars... I can't wait to go back for more!

We came here for a late lunch and to just bum around for awhile in the Mercado. You order at the window, choose a table in the courtyard and they bring it out to you. Really enjoyed my poc chuc tacos. The courtyard is nice. Sauces were fresh and tasty. My favorite part was my drink. Usually I get a beer, however today the Cochata drink caught my eye. Horchata with cold pressed coffee. Oh yes, and it was soooo good!

    (4)
  • Shannon M.

The flies were a little intrusive but it is monsoon in an outdoor courtyard. Mostly tasty. Smaller portion sizes We split nachos and the adobo steak and pic chuc taco platter.

    (3)
  • Tessie K.

What a delicious find! Had the refreshing watermelon/cucumber frescas with 3 street tacos (carnitas) served with their green salsa. Elegant & filling. Will bring out of town guests to the Mercado San Augustin for this great place.

    (5)
  • Alyse H.

I love the atmosphere of the Mercado. We were lucky to go on a night when the weather was pleasant so we could really enjoy it. My hubby and I ordered a plate of nachos to split and a burrito to split. I absolutely loved the salsas they came with on the side. Every bite of the nachos were filled with toppings. The food was fresh and delicious. Tip: they don't sell alcohol, but you can get some from a bar in the Mercado and eat it with your yummy food from Seis!

    (5)
  • Mariah S.

My only complaint for this place is that I ate too much and got too full. The prices were a little high for my preference...probably the most expensive dinner date we had been on in a couple months (probably because the horchata with cold brew was $5) ...the tacos were pretty worth it though I must say. I had a fried avocado taco, shrimp and another one which I forgot. The shrimp was so good and so was the avocado! I have heard their breakfast burritos are DELICIOUS and I hope we get around to trying them out! The whole patio is cute and fun. There are always things going on at the Marcado--if you haven't been--you simply must.

    (5)
  • Angela H.

The atmosphere is what I love. It is convenient for me to go between classes. The food is delicious

  • Amanda S.

FRESH, wonderful food. I love the crispy avocado tacos and the beans with bacon. The agua frescas are good too, and of course, the atmosphere of the Mercado just adds that great character.

Seis Kitchen is great, a wonderful place to enjoy an informal meal of delicious Mexican food, sitting outside surrounded by families enjoying each other on a beautiful, late Tucson afternoon. We shared chips & guacamole, a single taco, and a bowl of Pozole. The Pozole was the big hit. It's a humongous bowl of tomato-based broth, just slightly (to my taste) spicy, chock full of hominy and beans. There was also quite a lot of tender pieces of shredded beef, some in almost every spoonful. We loved it but even with both of us eating our share,we couldn't finish it. It's served with a hot tortilla. We also had delicious watermelon cucumber drink. You wait at the counter and then pleasant staff deliver your meal to nice wooden tables. The chairs are the folding type but they're both stylish and comfortable.

I had never heard of Seis until a friend suggested that we meet there for lunch. The title reflects offerings from six (seis) different regions of Mexico. I ordered the Mexico City Style Quesadilla with Poc Chuc filling. My side order was tortilla chips, though I could have chose from several variations of beans. I was offered two varieties of salsa, and chose red. The quesadilla was nicely presented and delivered to me at my courtyard table. The filling was flavorful, and contained lots of cheese and green chiles in addition to the Poc Chuc. Service was fast, and our server was pleasant and upbeat. I will definitely be returning for lunch in the near future.

I really wanted to love this place. Read about it on Tucson Foodie, so had high hopes. First, the Mercado is kind of meh. I was expecting something like Oxbow in Napa. This is not it. Everything is outside, open-air...and it's hot out. Comprised of half-dozen restaurants/food places - all had doors open, so no AC, and were empty at lunchtime. Never a good sign. I couldn't figure out where to enter/order for Seis so I waited by the door that said No Admittance and asked the waitress where the entrance was. She actually rolled her eyes at me and said "We're a window", gesturing around the corner. I'm sorry! Stupid me. Everyone else had actual doors. I said I'd never been here before and she just walked away. Wow. Placed order, paid, and was prompted to pre-tip a minimum of 15%. For a "window" with crappy service so far? Um...no. I said I'd like to tip 10% now and leave cash if warranted. The guy couldn't figure out how I could tip less than 15%. I gave up and just gave them the money. Crappy customer experience #2. And reason enough to never go there again. Despite being empty and having at least three visible employees, most of the tables hadn't been bussed and were covered in food. The food...it was okay. Not amazing. I had the Al Pastor and Cochinita Pibil street tacos and a side of charro beans (lunch special $9 and includes a drink). The Al Pastor was tasty, if a bit greasy. The Cochinita was just okay. A bit too sweet for my taste. The corn tortillas were fresh and seemed not-factory made. The Charro beans had no sign of either the bacon or onion that were promised on the menu. Bland. The kiddo had the Taquitos, which he seemed to enjoy. Generous serving (5 pcs) for $6. He also had the smashed (refried) beans, which were okay but nothing special, and the Watermelon/Cucumber Agua Fresca, which was tasty but a bit thick and overpriced at almost $4 for a small glass. Honestly, I left annoyed. The food was okay, but not exceptional. Not even what I'd qualify as very good. It was okay. And I could have forgiven that if the service wasn't so horrid. Cranky waitresses and forced pre-tipping are two things this place needs to get rid of immediately. Don't live here, but visit often and wouldn't return.

I actually tried Seis when it was a food truck at a friend's wedding. I thought their street tacos were awesome then, and I'm so glad to see them set up shop in Mercado San Agustin! I stopped in for a late lunch yesterday and appreciated the small menu -- it's better to do a few things really well than have a million menu items you can't pull off. I went for a combination: two birria tacos, a steak taco and calabasitas. Everything was supremely delicious and fresh (even though I took it back to my office to enjoy). The staff was super nice and I didn't have to wait long at all! I will definitely be back to Seis next time I hop on the streetcar :)

I finally made my way to Mercado San Agustín Marketplace where I was delighted to find some amazing eateries and shops. Seis Kitchen and Catering is one of the best Mexican food joints in town. The service is top notch; always friendly and polite. They bring fresh, flavorful food to the Old Pueblo and I am a fan. I really enjoy the Pac Chuc Salad and the street tacos. Salads tend to be ho-hum, but Seis is able to make a stand out salad that's delicious and doesn't make me feel like I'm being good even though I am. The Birria and Al Pastor tacos melted in my mouth. The meats were juicy and full of flavor.

It's almost hard for me to write a 5 star review for Seis because I want it to stay a hidden gem, but I'd be doing a disservice to the people of Tucson to not share. I've been getting weekend breakfast as Seis for a couple of months now on as its one of the few passable restaurants on the west side and it has quickly become my go-to. I've avoided my usual rut of finding one thing I like and ordering it every time because the menu is all so enticing! The crispy green chile torta is amazing and the Birria Plato is perfect for the morning after a rough night.

  • Andrew H.

The food and service were good. Not the cheese and sauce smothered Mexican you normally expect. It's cleaner, fresher it seems. I got the tacos and they were tasty but difficult to eat. But they were fully loaded so that's a plus. The guac and chips were average. I felt the guac could have used more flavor, but if you like guac that is mild then it will be perfect. THE HORCHATA COFFEE ("COCHATA") is to die for. The location of the restaurant is wonderful. Nice little courtyard with lighted trees and music.

  • Jenny S.

street tacos at the San Agustin Mercado. you order at the window & enjoy your meal in the outdoor seating the taco platters didn't seem worth it since street tacos were just $2 each & that way you can try a variety of meat ---poc chuc chicken: my FAV of the ones i tried ---al pastor: okay but i've had better ---pibil: not bad but a bit bland we didn't try any of the drinks but they do offer that as well!

We decided to finally come and check this place out on Sunday morning after our walk with the pups. The courtyard was nice and inviting and we loved that the dogs could sit with us. I had the chiliquiles, and my husband had a burritto. Nice big portion, tasty food, served quickly. The Horchata was excellent, and I can't wait to go back and try the cold brew horchata! Do to our ordering mistake, we ended up with regular horchata, but totally our fault, and still worth it. We will be back!

  • Connor U.

This place was pretty great. The outdoor seating was a really unique experience; you walk up and order from a drive thru-esque window before walking into an atrium that Seis shares with a handful of other establishments. Some of my friends walked over to get coffee in the atrium while we waited for our food, and you could see diners from other establishments enjoying their nice Sunday morning brunches. My friend recommended the chilaquiles and I was definitely satisfied with the experience. I had never had them before and I heard that they weren't the most traditional, but all I know is that my tastebuds were happy with my choice! The portions were huge and most people in my group didn't end up finishing their plates. Extra points for the pumpkin spice horchata. I can't say that I'm a huge fan of the pumpkin-flavored-everything movement, but this was a perfect fusion.

This morning I went to Mercado San Agustin for the 1st time and loved it. From Seis I ordered the Tocino Burrito (bacon, potatoes, eggs and cheese) and a watermelon/lime Agua Fresca. The burrito was huge and very delicious and my agua fresca was very tasty and refreshing. My partner ordered the Grande Burrito (ham, bacon, green chiles, potatoes, eggs, beans and cheese) and an iced tea (free refills). His burrito was just as huge, he said it was the best breakfast burrito he's ever had. Their burritos come with choice of red or green fresh salsa. We wanted to try their Al Pastor Tacos but they don't start serving those until 11:00 (lunch). From Stella's I ordered an iced mocha coffee, it was just ok. My partner ordered an iced chai tea, he did not like it at all (sorry Stella's). To take home From Estrella's Bakery We got us some empanadas and hot fresh Spinach Tortillas, I've never heard of such a thing (can't wait to try them). We walked through all the stores and can I just say every single person that works their are super friendly. I love this place!!! Next visit to MSA will be dinner at Agustin Kitchen.

Two bites in and wife says "these are the best tacos I have had in years." I did not disagree one bit. Figured that whole scenario warranted a 5-star rating, and that's all I'm gonna say about this place.

  • John W.

Another fabulous breakfast at the Mercado's Seis. I've now had breakfast burritos, chilaquiles, and tacos here. All great. Go now farther - Get your coffee at Stella, and walk directly to Seis for a delicious breakfast, lunch, snack, etc etc.

Great service and the food has an authentic taste. Tacos and tortas are awesome.

    (4)
  • Jeff G.

Seis uses high quality ingredients to make some of the best tacos, burritos and tortas in town. The price point is higher than your typical taco stand, but food and courtyard ambiance are deserving. The food comes out very quickly. The people who run the place are very nice.

    (5)
  • Natasha C.

I have been pleasantly satisfied everytime I eat here which has been at least 7 times. Definitely worth trying if you are near the San Agustin area. The meat they put in the tacos and quesodillas is well seasoned and full of flavor and never greasy.

Best breakfast burritos in town! Their salsa is what I love, ask for one of each kind.

  • Steven G.

I wouldn't normally give a place 5 stars when they forget about my order, but Seis deserves it. I haven't been back to Tucson in a long long time, and was pleasantly surprised about how much it has developed. Not chain restaurant/strip mall developed, but community oriented independent venue developed. Seis is one of those places that fits this description. After riding the train, we got off at the mercado and decided we could stave off hunger no longer. Since I live in CO now, where good Mexican food is almost impossible to find, this place seemed to fit the bill. I ordered a torta and my date got the fish tacos and we waited... And waited, and waited. I was in no hurry since we had drinks from Augustin, but finally the manager or owner came over and started profusely apologizing. What really impressed me was that she said I have no excuses as to why we forgot your order. I love that, excuses keep people from truly admitting fault. She gave us a free order of chips and absolutely amazing guacamole and refunded our money. Truly impressive. Our food was out within minutes of that, and again, I was impressed. My torta was nothing shy of perfect, and my dates fish tacos were some of the best I've ever had. The fish was fried to perfection and they came with handmade tortillas. A good tortilla is my kryptonite, considering they are impossible to find where I live in Durango. If the owners are reading this, I know of a quaint little town in SW Colorado that has a severe lack of places like this and would be a fantastic opportunity to expand the business.

If you live in or are driving thru Tucson, you need to come to the MSA (Mercado San Augustine)! It is a small open air market with quaint little shops and restaurants. We were on our way to San Diego and needed some fresh air, sunshine and some delicious tacos. Seis seriously hit the spot. Handmade corn tortillas and the most flavorful tacos. We had the Cochinita Pibil and Poc Chuc tacos and loved every bite. This will be a repeat next time we are in town.

Food was great service was good. Only thing I can complain about is that's it's a bit pricy for what it is that's why I gave it 4 stars. Overall really good authentic Mexican food.

  • Kim L.

I've gone to Seis the last two Sunday mornings for breakfast, and it's been a great experience both times. The breakfast torta's are the best!! It's so much food. The beans and salsa and so flavorful and spiced perfectly! The roasted potatoes are perfectly crisped. I love the Mercado setting, it's relaxing and energizing at the same seeing the cyclists and walkers, stop in for something to eat. The service is good, and the server gave us good advice on what we should order. I was skeptical because I really love the last Mexican restaurant that was located here, but it was perfect!!

  • Donn A.

I like the crispy avocado taco and birria taco/burrito. I tried the cilantro rice without reading the description. I imagined it to be some kind of green colored rice like peruvian type rice, but it was just plain rice with a sprinkle of chopped cilantro.

  • Dan B.

Great lunch today at Seis. We enjoyed the crispy fish tacos, the chicken burrito and the chicken tacos. Everything was super delicious and the service was prompt. Looking forward to coming again.

This place rocks. Fantastic tacos and a really nice atmosphere for eating in the covered outdoor courtyard. And they have the best horchata I've had! Great spot for breakfast as well.

Wow. What a gem! Seis is exactly the reason great food needs to be shared. What started out as a Food Truck here in Tucson expanded to a brick and mortar based on sheet demand. Located on the perimeter of a quaint Public Market, this amazing eatery adjoins a number of other establishments which offer a similar uniquely intimate Arizonan experience. There is a common open-air courtyard in the center of the Market, and plenty of tables and chairs to accommodate casual diners who have made this a destination. 80% of ingredients used in Seis's menu are locally produced, and the freshness shines through in everything from the salsas to the flavor-packed grilled meats. The Al Pastor tacos are a perfect unison of salty and sweet and fresh crispness. You are actually transported to a Mexican village while admiring and devouring these authentic tacos in such a cool, artsy setting. You absolutely MUST make a special trip to Seis, not just to support local business, but more importantly to experience culinary magic and a marvelous meal!

  • Jared L.

Just had the fish tacos. I have had my fair share of fish tacos, some good and some really really horrible... The ones here were FANTASTIC. The chefs did an awesome job of not over doing the battering process (this is no easy feat). The tacos seemed to melt in my mouth like butter. I would suggesting adding some avocado as well. Damn I'm getting hungry writing this review haha. Anyways if you're in the area I 120% suggest stopping by. -Jared

The outdoor, rustic atmosphere is charming and the chile cheese quesadilla in a corn tortilla that I had was fresh and phenomenal. Loved the green salsa.

  • Lorena G.

Yeah, they are tremendously delicious and satisfying! I had the Al Pastor and the hubby had the Birria! I am sooo picky when it comes to "street" tacos and have finally found THE place! Amazing complex flavors! Salsas are great! Tried the tomatillo and the red, both great and tasty, not hot at all. I was soooo full I had to give my hubby a taco! Will defiantly go back! Can't wait!

  • Kris C.

You order at the window and eat in the courtyard. The food is absolutely delicious! Probably the best corn tortillas I've eaten in Tucson. Definitely worth standing in line if you show up at lunchtime or on the weekend.

Seis is such a vibrant addition to the scene at the Mercado San Agustin. The folks at Seis ALWAYS greet you with all kinds of warmth and smiles. I love that! I also love that their wild success as a food truck led them to open up a brick and mortar location. The menu is fresh with plenty of options from salads to tacos, burritos, side dishes and even a fried avocado dish! The food draws from six regions in Mexico- since I haven't been to all those regions myself, I can't speak to the authenticity. I can say portions are generous and ingredients are very fresh! So, this comes with a higher price point that most other Mexican restaurants in the area, but I totally welcome it. You'll never question the quality here. I adore their breakfast burritos and carne asada salad. The chicken burrito is a great choice too!

Today was my lucky day! Although I had been to the Mercado San Agustin a few times for other events and Seis always caught my eye. They always seemed to be busy which is a good sign. When I visited early in the afternoon and it was a very nice spring day. The dining area at the Mercado is a very pleasant outdoor environment. The tables were nicely shaded, clean and inviting. I tend to not want to eat outdoors in Tucson due to the elements but I found it very comfortable there. I had the Tacos Grande Barrila which is (from their menu) "Red chile braised shredded beef, shredded cabbage, guacamole, cilantro, red onion, queso fresco." It was very well prepared and so good! I wishes I had eaten there sooner! Having lived in Tucson for over a decade it was one of the best Mexican food experiences I've had. There is plenty of easily accessible parking. For those that enjoy great food and a nice but relaxed open air, community vibe I think the charm of the experience will lead you back over and over.

Eh... for some reason I was not impressed with my shrimp mojo de ajo tacos. $11 for 3 tacos seemed a little steep for what I got. The shrimp was nice and tender.. but for some reason this dish didn't pack any punch for me. I actually ended up dousing my tacos in sriracha sauce at the office to give it more flavor. There was really no wow factor.. I think I am going to have to come back and maybe try something else like their breakfast burritos or their tortas, and perhaps that might change my mind about this place. I also was still left feeling hungry after my 3 "Grande" tacos.. I could have easily finished another 3 no problem.

Seis sure does an excellent job with their pozole soup! Total comfort food on a lovely winter evening. I took a trip to the Mercado last night and treated myself to a lovely dinner of pozole! It was perfection! I had thought that I would get the avocado tacos (which I love) but when I saw the pozole (pork and hominy stew) description, there was no turning back. It was a flavorful huge dish of soup! So much so that I had enough for my lunch today. It was equally delicious as leftovers. I shared a few bites with my significant other when I arrived home last night. He had never had pozole and was an instant fan. The service is awesome at Seis. The beverages are super nice. They have horchata, which is always challenging for me to resist. However, I opted for something a bit lighter to drink and selected the watermelon+ cucumber+lime drink. YUM! Highly recommend a visit to the welcoming Mercado which houses Seis Kitchen!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
