Food is ok. Feel like I'm going to develop diabetes from eating there though. Everything is covered in a sugary syrup.

Best bang for your buck in downtown. The lunch prices are awesome and portions are pretty good. It's probably not the best Chinese and Thai food but it is great if you're on a budget.

Pang Curry = so good. Don't know what to order? Order the Pang Curry. It's SO good.

As another reviewer said, a very utilitarian space. There's a lunch counter/hot table where you place your lunch order, but you order supper from a menu, and the hot table is closed. This is mediocre Asian food.

The first time I came by, it was about 6:30 in the evening. My dad and I were taking a walk and it looked like they might already be closed. After a brief conversation about that, my dad said, "Let's just go in and I'll show you they're open." I'm so glad we did. First off, I'd like to say that I've only had one dish there the two times I've visited. I sometimes crave Green Curry Chicken and they completely satisfy that craving. Its flavors exceed my imagination in its deliciousness. My friends who went with me this time got the Vegetable Spring Rolls and Sesame Chicken. They were both impressed by how good the food was. We're planning to go again sometime in the near future. Now, here's a tip for those that don't like crowds. Coming here from 6pm to 9pm(closing time) is the best time, because there are very few people there. Also, they're more than happy to make it to go if you prefer eating at home. The serving sizes and price are very reasonable too, especially for the Green Curry. I would have to say that there wasn't much of a mood in the restaurant, although I've only ever been there when it was slow. During those times, you could easily read a book while you eat without any distractions. Perhaps earlier in the day, the other patrons provide more liveliness. On a final note, the lady behind the counter is very friendly and on top of things. Be sure to thank her for the delicious food on your way out!

I don't know why I do this to myself. My only excuse is that I was REALLY craving Chinese food. I ordered orange chicken and pepper steak. I told the woman that the meat did not look like steak, she argued it was. No it is pork. I said the sign for the "orange chicken" says sesame and has sesame seeds on it. Again she said I was wrong. It's disgusting

Today I stopped by this recently opened Thai / Chinese food restaurant. I can't recall what it was before, but it's right next to Cafe Milano. It reminded me of an Asian version of The Taco Shop. Sparse decor, nothing fancy and very utilitarian. As in talk louder than a low voice and you can hear your word reverberate off of the walls. I had the lunch special "Combo 1" at $4.49. Which consisted of white rice and one entree. The rice was not Jasmine. Just your standard cheap white rice. Also it was on the harder side and very dried out. No moisture in it at all. Which meant eating it with chopsticks is impossible. The price is right for downtown and they should enjoy a fair amount of success just from their pricing. But the downtown crowd is quick to form opinions and can either make or break a restaurant. Their menu is pretty extensive. Don't let the menu board above the order area fool you. They actually have a traditional restaurant menu book with about 6 pages of various dishes. Not much care is taken in making the food. Seems like a typical "get in and out" type of place. But they've only been open for 2 weeks. So, I will be back in a month or so for another review.

The best Thai in Tucson for the price.

About a year ago we stopped going to Rice House. The greasy food was geting out of hand and the people working there were clueless and borderline rude at times. But this past week we found ourselves downtown wanting to eat dinner and we thought maybe things have changed and maybe the Rice House was back to the restaurant we first enjoyed. We were wrong! It was a little after 7:00 and no one was in there. We walked up to the counter to give the guy our order. When he saw us he grabbed his pad of paper to take our order and slammed it down on the counter. He rolled his eyes and asked us what we wanted with a nasty attitude. The eye rolling and attitude continued as we tried to give our order until my husband looked at me and said "let's forget it". I told the guy that his attitude was horrible...as we walked towards the door he said "boohoo" in a winey voice. I don't think I've ever felt so unwelcome at a restaurant in my life! We're done with Rice House for good...I guess we'll never find out if their food is still greasy and I can live that!

The appealing lunch special prices brought me to this downtown Thai eatery. I was intrigued by the combo meals ranging between $5.50-6 and containing various entrees and rice, with fresh and hot looking choices. I ordered a $5.99 thai cashew plate that included white rice, an egg roll and soup (I chose egg drop over the spicy). I found it all quite tasty and even a bit hot, not just freshly cooked, but with some spice to it. There was some grease leftover. But I liked it. Re-fillable drinks. Lots of seating and take-out. I'll be back.

For the price ($7.50 with tip) I guess I shouldn't have expected anything better. I got the Tom Kam T12 lunch special. It came with a load of white rice, an egg roll and a choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup. I had the hot and sour. The Tom Kam was thin. The red onions were uncooked, the button mushrooms were under-cooked, the tomatoes came from a can. I found a small slice or two of chicken. It was over-salty and oversweet. The rice was fine and fluffy. The hot and sour soup was extremely salty. I had a few spoonfuls and pushed it aside. The sweet and sour sauce for the egg roll was thin and watery. The egg roll itself was fairly standard.

Meh.. this place used to be better.. I ordered their Tom Yum soup and the taste was just off... I won't be ordering that anymore.... I know their combo plates are pretty good for the price... my only gripe is the cleanliness of that kitchen.... I just have this disgusting feeling that if I peeked back there.. I would never come back.

Loved it the Thai cashew was very tasty spicy but not on fire prices are good but far to many bell peppers for my taste and the cashier's friends came in and just hung around staring at the paying customers it seemed rather unprofessional and rude

DISGUSTING Seriously, no exaggeration, the WORST Low Mein and Pad Thai I have ever tried in my life. (And both dishes are very hard to screw up) My girlfriend and I stopped by Tucson on our way back to California from a road trip. We went to check out downtown Tucson and get some food. We saw this place and despite it being empty, we trusted we could get some descent cheap Chinese food. We first ordered soup. That was fine. But then our main course came out: Low Mein for me, Pad Thai for my girlfriend. The Low Mein had way too much salt and soy sauce; way too salty. The Pad Thai was even worse - Ketchup and peanut sauce, that's what the Pad Thai tasted like. We couldn't even finish our meal. I was close to telling he waitress that I wasn't going to pay for the food because of how terrible it was. Let me repeat: WORST PAD THAI AND LOW MEIN I'VE EVER HAD. Although the waitress was kind enough, I cannot, in good conscience, give this place any more than 1 Star.

I've been a somewhat regular customer at this place since my last review and I must say the meals have been pretty much consistent in taste - excellent for the price. You can taste the freshness of each individual ingredients (including the garlic and onions). The generic Chinese (American) dishes such as Pepper Steak, Mongolian Chicken etc.. are pretty much the best I've tasted. Long lines during lunch hour, btw. And order from the menu instead of straight from their buffet. The food from the buffet is still good but ordered to cook is much better.

Food I ordered was very greasy and bland. I asked the attendant if the teriyaki chicken lunch special was stir-fried or deep fried and he said stir fried. So I ordered it... Bad decision! It must have been breaded, deep fried and then drizzled with a thick, bland, dark sauce with no trace of teriyaki flavor. Not surprisingly it was greasy and highly fattening! I should have stayed away when I noticed nobody was there. Moral of the story? Trust your instincts.

$5.51 for Lunch? Yes Please! This place is not the nicest shop in town, but you cannot beat the value of their combo meals. The service is fast and there are some really good entrees available. If you can, beat the lunch rush, as they will cook your entrees to order.

I came in for lunch during today based on others' Yelp reviews - I was trapped downtown for jury duty and looking to try something new. I am a huge fan of Thai food, having spent 30 years in Portland and Seattle where the Thai lunch carts will make you weep with joy. I wasn't put off by the econo-decor. It's a business lunch spot. Also, there's a lot of great food out there in mom and pop restaurants that aren't too fancy looking. That being said, the food didn't really taste like anything. I ordered Pad See Ew, and it was incredibly bland. No spice, no seasoning, just greasy noodles. Bleh. I actually ate about half and through the rest away. Can't recommend this place, unfortunately.

Lunch specials are great! Food is great for the price. Friendly staff. Would come here again next time in I'm Tuscan.

Came in for lunch. The line was almost out door but it only took about 5 minutes before I was enjoying my general tsos chicken. Lunch ended up being about $7 including drink. All in all, the food was delicious and the price was good. Will be back
