So, I heard about this place from a coworker. I love Diners so I was game. Took the family there for brunch the first time of many and we were very pleased. Any place that has a mandatory waitress requirement of heavy lipstick and no less than 30 years of smoking unfiltered Camels is tops on my list. I asked "Flo" how she was doing after she came by to take our drink order and she responded, "I'm crabby today!". I told her that I loved her for being honest; and I'll take an Iced Tea! The kids each got a $2 pancake made like a famous Disney mouse. The wifey got the Chicken Fried Steak and eggs breakfast with all the trimmings for about $11, and I ordered my true Diner test sandwich...The Ruben($8). You wouldn't think that a joint could screw up a Ruben since the ingredients are pretty dang specific...but I've"ve seen it done. Omar's hit it out of the park! All of the food was great. The CFS was crispy and tender, the Ruben had the perfect balance of Corned Beef, Sauerkraut, Swiss, Thousand Island and marbled rye bread. (The lettuce, onion, tomato and pickle on the plate was a bit odd...but I guess they needed to fill in the blanks). The fries are kind of weak, so I recommend substituting the House Potatoes. They are little deep fried squares of perfectly seasoned, crispy bits of heaven. We have been regulars for months now. Not everything on the menu is phenomenal, however, you will find the dishes that tickle your fancy. My absolute favorite is "Omar's Favorite Breakfast". Cheese Enchiladas, shredded Mexican beef, 3 eggs any style, re-fried beans, potatoes, tortillas and salsa. It's a massive gut buster, but a wonderful mix of flavors and textures. The long of the short of it is...Eat at Omar's.

Had both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner here with my elderly parents. We had the same server who appeared a little grouchy but it may have just been her personality. We decided to dine here because we did not have dinner reservations and were too late to make them on both occasions. Food was good and very plentiful, and were seated immedietly, just as we were wishing.

As good as it gets in this restaurant, if there was something missing from the menu I couldn't find it. The deserts are enormous, I ordered two eggs over easy with toast, I've never seen eggs that big. Truck, bus and RV parking, with a great gift shop, and book store.

Iconic truck stop food. Beats most other truck stop food I've eaten anywhere, but in the end, it is still truck stop food. Huge selection for every meal that gets bigger with every visit. Some of the newest additions are the healthiest choices such as grilled Tilapia, Trout and a couple Chicken Breast options. A pleasant and welcome surprise. The lower calorie choices are especially important when you have the Deep Dish Fruit Cobblers: Apple, Cherry or Peach piled high with Vanilla Ice Cream. A MUST for every visit to Omar's.

And you wonder why most truckers are...."meaty"!? If Omar's is anything like every other truck stop on the planet, that right there explains it. To me the TTT is a Tucson icon; the one business you look for driving in or out of Tucson. Once you get there, you know it's close. And what native can't close their eyes and envision the Hot Deep Dish Apple Pie sign on the outside of the building? After a long morning building in the area for Habitat for Humanity, a group of us all gathered at the TTT for a well deserved meal. Well if this place is iconic #1 for it's pie, it's #2 claim-to-fame is the size of their meals. HOLY COW BATMAN! My meal could have served 3 people. I was eating leftovers for days! The breakfast was just amazing and I could have settled there, but you can't walk out without a serving of their famous deep dish apple pie. Now mind you, I'm not a dessert "orderer", so I took advantage of my friend that was. He said he never leaves the place without an order of pie and thank goodness he did. That was by-far the most amazing dessert I've ever tasted. The pie was absolute perfection. Next time I may just order the crust! I felt like I was back at my grandmother's house... and the serious mound of vanilla ice cream on top, just melting over the top of the hot pie....HEAVEN! (sung in a Zooey Deschanel voice). Oh...I would be remiss if I didn't mention the perfect service by our Flo-like "kiss my grits" waitress. Spectacular! I would highly highly recommend heading east on I-10 and experiencing the hot deep dish apple pie and the TTT in all of it's iconic Tucson glory!

We came here at about 1 am this morning because we were hungry and couldn't sleep. The staff was super friendly, and the food was great! I got the two eggs with bacon, grits and biscuit and gravy. The gravy was pretty sweet, and I think it could have had a little more pepper in it. But the bacon was AMAZING! Thick cut pieces that went deliciously with syrup. And dear God, the chili was yummy. Super thick, meaty, a little spicy, great with the cheese and onions. I will be back for sure. I had never been to a truck stop of any kind before, but I am glad that this was my first one.

The five stars are for the coconut cream pie! I think it is the best in Tucson. The breakfast is ok and we usually eat somewhere else and go there for pie. The restaurant was full on our two visits so the food has to be good. It was mostly locals with their families and not just truckers. I think we will go for lunch (and pie!) and I'll provide an update. Also, the Mexican food didn't seem authentic so you might want to skip it.

Yesterday I tried the Deep Dish Apple Pie again. It was really good. I have to warn you, if you aren't a combo of Shaq, Bill Walton and maybe Andre the Giant...you won't be able to eat it all by yourself. The waitress was the best! Actually, she was the nicest waitress that I've had the pleasure of meeting in Tucson.

Omars @ the TTT Truck stop, what can I say but Wanda, Yes Wanda one of my favorite waitress names of all times, I am sure there are few Wanda's working here, and I know they are the best at what they do. From the pink pepto, 80's coyote howling decor to that sweet smell of bleach, tells me every time I a m in truck stop heaven. Water on the table, coffee flowing and food flying out on time, these Wanda's are filling my need to remember the Old Jenks Cafe where I ate sometimes 3 times a day ( I know it was just a slice of life so different from mine I had to do it, like taking a picture of a dead squirrel on the road). I got the I-10 Belt buster this last time and I could not even eat a quarter of it, mostly I just wanted the pancakes and eggs, but I could not resist the temptation. So the next time you are truckin' down the road looking for breakfast go see one of my Wanda's at Omar's, get a whiff of bleach and you will be with me "Truck stop Nirvana".

I found this on the Yelp listings, prior to driving to Tucson for the gem shows. Boy am I glad I found this place! Hubby ordered Omar's Favorite, and could BARELY finish it! (& he is 6' 5" tall, and can eat tons!). I ordered the Triple T burrito, which was humongous too! It was like 3-4" in diameter, and was stuffed full of scrambled eggs, cheese, bits of bacon and sausage, potatoes, and it came with a side of shredded lettuce and sour cream. OMG my tummy hurt when we left! Not used to eating huge meals like that, but boy it was really tasty! Their coffee was really good too, and we both had several cups. Our waitress (Joyce?) was a doll and a kick! We will definitely be back next year!

  • Arnold M.

I think I picked the wrong thing to eat. I took the waitresses advice instead of trusting my instinct. My chicken sandwich was okay but I should have had the breakfast burrito. I will definately go back though because everything was good and the wait staff was great!!

The best of the best in regards to truck stops. If I were writing this review soley based on the food I'd go to four stars; however, it just so happens to have some of the greatest service you can find. The staff was very tenative and came around filling coffee and water often. I ordered chicken fried steak my first visit here (heck what's a trucker stop if it doesn't have decent chicken fried steak?) and I'll never regret it. The food was great, it's what you'd expect it to be. I wouldn't go five stars with the food simply because nothing about it really jumped out. I enjoyed the varity of the food served. I orded a pasta dish with mushrooms and alfredo sauce recently and it was more than I hoped for. I'll admit I didn't have much hope considering I was ordering Italian at a truck stop. If you've never been go now.

FAST Review: Food (4/5) - Many options. Roast beef sandwich comes with green chile but is a bit bland. Anything with the chorizo is good, but you may be hurting after. And when a meal says it comes with cheese, it means it comes with A LOT of cheese. They also have a couple low-cal plates which I have heard are good (but I've never tried). The deep dish apple pie is not as good as I remember it many years ago. If you get it a la mode, be prepared for a heaping of soft serve. They don't skimp on portions here. Ambiance (4/5) - Has an atmosphere of a truck stop diner. Wait.... Service (5/5) - No complaints. Staff always friendly and prompt. They also tolerate the noise our table makes at lunch. Total Impression (4/5) - Come here for lunch often with co-workers. Nice place for larger groups, and if you are in the mood for some breakfast at lunch. Afterwards, you can window shop in the little souvenir store that is adjacent to the restaurant.

I think truck stops rock. This truck stop as a whole is pretty cool. Gift shop, Trucker shop, they even advertise that they have motel rooms, not that I'd stay in one, but I guess that's pretty cool. The restaurant had a friendly and unfriendly vibe at the same time. Ok, so my hair and makeup is a little "unique" but you know in movies where someone walks into a room and everyone stops what they're doing to stare at you? yeah, it was kinda like that. Our waitress was that kinda catty but nice older bright red haired lady you'd expect in a place like this. The epitome of diner staff. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich was quite tasty but small. Potato salad was from a big gallon container, not bad but not good. I had the bacon cheeseburger with fries and a cherry coke. again, the epitome of diner classics. Nothing spectacular. Decent burger, decent fries, refreshing cherry coke. So if I was basing this review on food alone, it would only get 2-3 stars but the whole truck stop overall gets 4!

We (myself, wifey and kid) are convinced that Omar's is a sure bet for a great breakfast or lunch! The portions are more than adequate and the service is second to none. Don't be afraid, give Omar's a try today! My only wish is that we pulled the trigger a lot sooner than later to pay this TTT truck stop a visit. I had the Omar's Favorite Breakfast (leftovers galore) and wifey had the French dip... both outstanding! We will definitely be back soon to try the apple pie and other breakfast, lunch and/or dinner options!

  • Cristina L.

Maybe the key to going by here is to not go somewhat late in the evening. I had a late breakfast here and it wasn't bad-much better than my last experience. I had quite a lot of food for a reasonable price. Service was really good and there are a million selections on the menu-so yeah, a little better than my first experience.

I've been to this restaurant a couple of times & have been disappointed on both occasions. A friend suggested we try the Apple Pie. Disgusting is the best description I can muster. It looked & tasted like the cook opened a can of apples & dumped them in a raw pie crust. To add to the disaster they piled on 8" of cheap, awful tasting, soft serve ice cream. I knew there was a problem when the waitress brought us empty bowls prior to this monstrosity being served so we would have a place to dump the ice cream. On my second visit I tried a waffle and it was just as bad. Tasted undercooked and was served with syrup in a little package. Don't waste your hard earned money here.

I love this place. We've gone there for Christmas some years when we didn't have plans. They have great breakfast, great green chile burgers, and even Mexican food that is pretty good. Lots of homestyle comfort food, too. I was pretty disappointed the one time recently that I tried one of their pies - canned peaches, boo.

We don't live in Tucson but this truck stop is located on our way home so it's a convenient place for us to stop and grab a bite on our way out of the City. We've eaten here a few times before - really late at night on our way home from a James Taylor concert, early one morning for breakfast on our way to Phoenix and most recently yesterday for lunch. The food is always predictable. That means I can order a BLT late at night and and it'll be exactly like the BLT I ordered yesterday for lunch. I like that in a restaurant. Omar's knows I don't appreciate surprises in my food. Our waitress was pretty laid back and although she didn't seem in a hurry to do anything, whatever she did she did it well. The restaurant is clean, the staff is friendly and the portions are generous.

Been going here for nearly 3 decades. Food is fresh and surprisingly good. Excellent selection... Don't miss this way more than a typical diner's food.

I have been hearing about Omar's and the TripleT Truck stop for year bt never ventured inside. Boy was I missing out. Amazing deep dish pie ala mode. Friendly service and solid diner food. Don't let the truck stop scare you away. Come on in to Omar's.

I moved to the Kolb and I-10 area about 6 months ago and I've been lamenting the lack of anything commercial in the vicinity. Taking a cue from Yelp, I jumped on the freeway and made the 5 minute trip to the Triple T. I am so glad I did. First impression of Omar's: the establishment is exceptionally well-run. It is clean, comfortable, attractive, and every member of the staff was friendly, attentive, and personable. I felt very much at home in this place as soon as I came in. The menu is huge and while I was looking it over my waitress gave me some cards with specials and featured dishes. I chose a grilled chicken breast special with chicken noodle soup, fries and green beans. Supposedly this dish was a "smaller portions" special, but the waitress warned me not to dawdle with my soup because I had a lot of food coming. She wasn't kidding. The food was solid and quite good. I'm not going to make it out to be something it's not. It's all diner food. But it's really good, well-executed diner food, and it's a bargain. I got the deep-dish apple pie for dessert and as earlier reviewers had warned it came with a massive topping of vanilla soft-serve which eventually started melting and incorporating itself into the bowl to create a warm vanilla-apple soup (Mmmmmmm). I was back again the other night and saw another server bring one out and the mound of soft-serve was easily twice as big as the one I got. I don't think I would want that much, but consider yourself warned. Finally - they are open 24 hours. That is awesome!

What's better than getting breakfast and brake fluid in one trip. The Omar staff is friendly, the food a step up from Denny's. A good breakfast stop prior to going North through Tucson.

As diners go, this one is a keeper. Good food, not a greasy spoon. Reuben was good, French dip was good, fries piping hot, good pancakes and Bacon. It was a hit with the whole family.

Ah-Maaaa-Zing! Great Breakfast, Great Service, Cool Truck Stop Vibe! Even got to meet Omar while paying our bill. I'm not a local, but If I was, I would make this a regular breakfast stop! My only complaint was the visit to the bathroom with is shared with a truck stop, and lets just say I am glad I went their after I ate....

I love the service it's the best and its a clean place to stop... the only down side is the smoking in the building and a lot of it.. never had time to eat here just fuel & bathroom brake, and coffee, but I have to say something always smells so good, maybe nest time,I'll have some of that pie I keep hearing about to go with the coffee.... and they have fenton art glass in the gift shop,I see it in the window and keep meaning to go look!

WINNER: Best 24 Hour Dining, Best Diner in Tucson The lack of decent 24 hour dining options inside the city limits is made up for by the glorious TTT. (Actually, the name is Omar's Highway Chef, but everyone knows it as the Triple-T truck stop.) I have to note that the TTT is home to many treasured memories for me, particularly with my dear friend T.: it was the location for an hour-long fit of nonstop laughter/delirium prompted by meat; it is the answer to the cultural touchstone question of our generation: "Where were you when you found out William Rehnquist died?"; and it wins the award for Most Likely Place to Share a Smoke with a Truckstop Whore Who Will Have Very Insightful Things to Share. Foodwise, I admit, I usually stick to my diner-cravings order (i.e., grilled cheese, hashbrowns, and a chocolate shake) so I haven't frolicked much on the menu, but fellow diners have had nothing but good things to say about everything but the cakes (obviously not homemade or even home-mixed, rather hacked off a Costco slab). You will not be disappointed, however, by their most prominently featured dish, a mountainous vanilla soft serve on a bowl of apple pie. (I am not kidding about the mountainousness, either: sometimes it seems as if the servers have an ongoing competition about who can pile it higher.) Service is always friendly, but relaxed (read: slow) in the depths of night, which should suit you just fine. Chat up your server--often you will get a good story about a recent customer or eventful evening in the parking lot (or, just make friends in the parking lot.) I also recommend the alternate forms of entertainment: a gift shop filled with craptastic souvenirs and a display of touching brochures near the restaurant entrance about the Almighty Jesus Who Loves You But Is Sending You to the Fiery Depths of Hell for Your Wicked Ways.

Chose this restaurant based on reviews from Yelp. It did not dissappoint. Clean, friendly truck stop with good food at reasonable prices. Lots of choices on the menu, and food was served promptly and hot. If you're in the area and looking for American diner fare, I fully recommend this spot. Did not see a lot of healthy choices but hey....it's a truck stop. If you want healthy find someplace else!!

this place is ridiculously, ridiculously awesome! Diners don't get better than this. everything else has been said. Too full to try the world famous pie (had the chicken fried steak and eggs, hash browns, toast and grits), but will reserve room next time.

Take a doggie bag with you. You won't be able to finish this home style, gut bustin, killer meal by yourself. The Wife, myself and my son and his wife went there tonight. Man, the food was awsome! I can really put it away, but I found my match! The I-10 gut buster did it! 3 eggs,3bacon, 2 sausage pattys, ham, hash browns, and 2 platter size pancakes. Then the question... toast or biscuts and gravy! All was great, (The gravy was a little sweet) I had to take home half of those fluffy pancakes just so I could order desert. The peach cobbler ala mode really kicks! I was soooo stuffed by the time I left, I could hardly keep my eyes open!

Debra, aka Princess, was the best waitress ever! She anticipated what we would need and brought it to us before we asked. The food was delicious and plentiful. The prices are very good too! We haven't been there in many years, but we will be back soon. :D

  • Melissa S.

Disappointed. I read the reviews and was excited to try some home style cooking. However....frozen is a better word. I ordered the catfish....still cold in the middle. Breading was overpowering and I could not get the horrible taste out of my mouth. The server clearly new I did not like it. She said not one word. The only reason I gave two stars was because the kids loved the pancakes and my coffee was always full.

I was not too thrilled with the food. Typical truck stop food. Don't know what the hype is about Chef Omar. I mean, who is he? The first time me and my fiancé ate there we had to leave cause the place smelled like cigarette smoke. Disgusting! The good thing about this place is the apple pie with ice cream. Other than that I wouldn't eat at this place even if you paid me. Funny thing is I live near this restaurant

As a child, we ate here often including taking out-of-town guests here. I come from a family of long-haul truckers so I know truck stops and their food and atmosphere. I hadn't been here in years due to living on the other side of town so when I found myself and my kids returning from Vail, I was excited to go there with them for dinner and share the history - that's where it all turned downhill. The restaurant was not busy and we were instructed to seat ourselves, we went into the back dining area (usually where families, travelers, and locals go) and the room was a mess - most tables had plates on them still and hadn't appeared to be cleaned in quite awhile. The floor had tons of food spilled on it. I brushed it off thinking maybe we had just missed a large rush and they hadn't had time to clean yet. My son ordered a burger, my daughter ordered a salad, and I ordered the Mexican combination plate. Our teas were all refilled timely and eventually the dining area was cleaned. While waiting for our food, a large cockroach climbed over our booth and began running along the wall. I called the waitress over and showed her, she shrugged at me and said "it happens" and took her shoe off and smashed it. The body fell onto the floor and she walked away and didn't even pick it up. I gathered our belongings and started to walk out, this obviously wasn't a place to eat anymore for us. When we were walking out a man at the register asked for our bill to pay, I told him what happened and his only reponse was "Are you going to pay for the teas or what?" Not returning, ever! Sorry TTT, you are not the same!

I had a salad and it was just okay. It came with three huge carrots instead of carrot sticks :-/ I wish it had been made with better lettuce and not iceberg. My 4 year old had the spaghetti with meat sauce, I had a taste be thought it was yummy!

  • Catie D.

Food was ok except for the greasy hash browns. When I told the waitress they didn't taste well she offered to have new ones made. The prices seemed over priced, 2.50 for coffee seemed super high to me.

  • Steve C.

A lot of variety on the menu. A lot of truckers too. My father-in-law had the hot roast beef sandwich. It was enormous, and he loved it. My wife didn't even want to go to the place, but she had to admit that the chicken tacos were very good.

Omar's has that certain something. Was it built on a vortex? Or maybe it just brings feelings of America, roadside nostalgia while you're there. We stopped for dessert here one evening and over the snack we reminisced about Pee-Wee's Big Adventure (Large Marge, the big dinosaur & "au revoir Pee-Wee" specifically). This place is super busy and the dessert portions are huge. I had a deep-dish apple pie which was piled high with soft serve. I moved it aside to get to the crust which was like a Christmas sugar cookie and I ate it first. My son had the Brownie sundae and he love it. The brownies were soft and irresistible. The baby got the basket of chicken nuggets and fries and loved them, too. Don't forget to stop into the gift shop nearby and check out all the great Tucson collectibles, shirts and hot sauces you could want. The also offer a huge selection of children's books with Southwest themes.

Don't believe the sign on the highway - Best breakfast. Service was slow and food was average at best. As my husband said we would of had a better breakfast at Subway a crossed the road. Keep driving.

Omar's was open late, had great service, and the food was tasty with trucker-sized portions. I wish I'd of had a bigger appetite, as I wanted to sample more of this diner's hearty truck stop cuisine.

Now the food is not great, but it is good home cooked food with large portions. The wait staff is very friendly and works well together. I have been here several times with groups of people and the service has always been pretty quick. If you do not want large portions the do have smaller portions available and some of their servings come in 1/2 sizes.

This is a great place to have breakfast anytime of the day. Went recently to meet some family driving from Texas to California and this made their quick stop easier. Plus it has everything you need for travel as a truck stop, including showers if necessary. Enjoy this landmark while it lasts. It used to be in the middle of nowhere... the first thing you would see as you entered Tucson from the east, but the neighborhood is changing fast. P.S. Get the apple pie... just one though as it is big enough to share with many!

  • Rocky C.

this place is an old school truck stop so the decor and seating is old and worn but not uncomfortable. Most of the waitresses were really old and cranky but also seemed nice once you start to talk to them, I had no problem with them is seemwd like to be part of the place. The food came out fast and hot and the place was pretty busy. The potatoes we had instead of hasbrowns were ok nothing special the gravy and chicken fried steak was really good. Marina the lady cleaning the tables and getting our drink was super nice and quick to always refill the cups. This place is not fantastic but it is good enough to come here every so often. Some items are a bit pricey but if its what you want its worth it. There is a gift shop next to the restraunt that has the typical truckstop fares. The wifi here is strong and fast.

Seriously I feel bad for everyone who deems this a 4 star restaraunt. Am I missing something, did the owners change? Maybe because I don't eat that many frozen meals I did not find this appetizing. Before I even start on the food maybe I should mention the groaning waitress when we first walked in that had her feet on the counter complaining how she was supposed to be off an hour ago to someone across the counter (not a customer). No greeting, just an annoyed look that more people were coming in. Fast forward to ordering time the server who came over was almost as friendly as the one who greeted us. We kept asking how different meals were, to which she replied I really don't know and I don't even know which meals you are talking about, I've never heard of that, really cause its on your menu. My husband's eggs were both under done as well as over done. The hash browns had freezerburn. The chicken fried steak was still frozen in the middle. My daughter ordered a burger that our waitress forgot to put on the ticket. The sandwiches are pretty basic, not bad but not memorable, the bread is probably the only thing they don't freeze here. I don't buy that this place is ranked #2 unless there has been some huge management change, it was gross and the service was absolutely terrible.

If you have a hankerin' for eating at an iconic American trucker's diner with its generous portions, friendly service, and relaxing atmosphere, come to Omar's. Especially if you love breakfast! A huge menu with many delicious choices. They're well-known up and down I-10 for their deep dish Apple Pie with ice cream so if you don't want a meal, you could stop by for this famous dessert. They say they're the best little diner stuck in a truck stop. And you know what? That might be absolutely true.

Not sure if I've left a review already but I absolutely love this place. Great service and good food! I've been driving here from Phoenix pretty much every month since last year. Eva is an amazing server with a great personality. Everyone here is nice and always greets with a smile. The food is amazing and very cheap for what you get. Love love love this place! I highly recommend :)

I have been here a few times. If you are ever traveling on I-10, be sure to stop by TTT Truck Stop and eat at Omar's. Excellent breakfast and the strawberry shortcake is wonderful. You will not leave here hungry. Some items a a bit overpriced, however you will receive

Was a little disappointed with their biscuits, not very flavorful the last few times i've been in. I used to get the biscuit and gravy but now I think i'll stick to coming in at dinner time. I'm never disappointed by dinner here. Monster portions and great taste. Especially their chicken alfredo. This is definitely a place you try at least once.

Annie, our waitress has easily got to be in her 70's and doing this her whole life..she is the perfect combination of "don't take shit" and "wise enough to understand" and i left feeling very happy to have been in her company.

Very good portions and very good food, wouldn't think it by driving by but you do need to STOP and try!

Growing up in the Midwest, I am used to the proverbial "greasy spoon" style truck stops. Omar's not only has the amazing food and atmosphere that I expect from a truck stop, they have fantastic staffers and a menu that should suit just about any appetite. If you're looking for good food at a great price, pop in. I highly recommend their deep dish apple pie! But, if you have dessert, eat that first; save the "dinner" for later.

I decided to come here with my wife, because I was looking for a little slice of Americana. It's nice to see that restaurants like this still exist. There are two sections of the restaurant. The waitresses tell you to sit wherever you want. We chose a little red booth. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. The cheeseburger was smaller than I had expected, but it was delicious. The onion rings were really good, too. My wife and I split a deep dish of hot apple pie (D.D.H.A.P.).

Do not stop at Triple TTT truck stop and eat at Omar's. Worst service I have in years, when our eggs came they were cold, it took over 20 minutes for my with to get a refill of coffee. My pancakes tasted very cold. But my hot chocolate was good. My wife gives two thumbs down on the bathroom also.

This place is the best when your on ur way home from the bar or when u need or want a big breakfast. The waitresses are friendly and very helpful! I recommend this place to everyone.

Awesome and huge!!! Best breakfast ive had in a long time. The strawberry waffle was delicious and the coffee was strong and fresh. This will definately be on the must stop list from now on.

Love this place. My favorite dishes are the club sandwich. Make sure to ask for ranch dressing for your fries and sandwich. It's amazing. I also love their pecan pie warmed with ice cream on top. Soooo good.

Good solid diner menu, crazy people watching, even weirder staff that sometimes is a bit short with you. On par for a truck stop I'd say. Wish I would have tried the amazing deserts I've heard about but instead opted for again an on par tuna salad sandwich. Oh FYI some people in my group ordered a salad and it came with a soup bowl of dressing. I heart me some ranch!

Service was quick and very friendly, although the lady did smell like really bad body odor. I ordered a lemonade and was quickly informed absolutely NO FREE refills on my lemonade. I was totally cool with it, but for some reason she kept telling me, almost like I didn't understand the first time she told me. When we first walked on I read about being #2 on the Food Network for 18 wheelers, or something like that. I figured this was because of the huge quantity of food they give. Usually at diners I go with a burger because I feel it's usually the safest to go with and lately I had been trying new things so I went back to my comfort food. I ordered a bacon burger with fries. The bacon was really chewy and not crisp like it says it is. It wasn't the best burger I've had, but not the worst. The fries were steak fries, which I love, but these were cold, stale and way over done. Hubby had the corn beef and hash and it was canned. He said the scrambled eggs weren't cooked enough, but the has browns were pretty good. He drives through Tucson weekly, I asked if he would stop again and he said he wouldn't bother. It's a typical truck stop diner, where quantity is more then quality. We prefer quality!

What's good about Omar's is the options. Hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, fish, salads and soups, classics home style items and even a lil Mexican tastes as well. Oh and the deserts too!! Stop in open 24hrs! Full menu anytime.

Friendliest service I have received in a diner in Tucson thus far! The waitresses always top off my coffee (or refill my iced tea) and they have such a wonderful attitude. Every meal I have eaten there was delicious and cooked to order. I absolutely love this diner.

  • Mrs. Rittenhous e.

At Omar's, you pay for the service, not the food. The food is unappetizing at best. They do not know the definition of an egg with a "hard yolk." "Crispy" hash browns consist of the burnt, greasy bits from the grill placed in a neat pile on a plate. The coffee does not taste good at all; it helps if you drink it while it is piping hot. The service, in contrast, is wonderful!

I'm not sure what has happened, but the food has really gone downhill lately. I live nearby but have stopped going there. The last time I went the food tasted like it was cooked in old butter or old grease. My neighbor has also stopped eating there. Too bad...it used to be good.

My husband grew up eating here and sometimes he mentions going. I always complain and groan but then when we get there and I get my food I am a happy girl. Really, this is a truck stop. Expect truck stop ambiance and waitresses. But they have always been polite and have always kept our drinks filled food moving. The food here is actually ridiculously big. I have loved everything I have gotten except the sausage gravy. It was thick, really thick. My husband loved it though. If you want some diner food done well come here and get your fav. I have had bacon, eggs and hash browns, chicken fried steak, liver and onions and a few others and it was all very good. The deserts are as crazy as it shows in the pictures. My son got once once and the ice cream was as big as his head. The whole family ate on it and could not finish it. It's not fancy, its not upscale. Its just good food.

Friendly service all the time! Love sitting at the counter and chatting w/ the waitress! It's one of those places where you instantly feel like a regular even if it is your first time! :) Clearly not everything is homemade from scratch, but if you are craving good ol' American comfort food...this is the place. Very nostalgic....a step back in time to the simpler days. :)

My sister and I were meeting for dinner and wanted to try something local. She lives locally but had never tried this place. This is not your usual truck stop...even the exterior is iconic. I had to take a picture. The dining area was big, not busy, and we seated ourselves. Our waitress was classic...loud, sarcastic, tattooed, and sweet as sugar. (She was almost too attentive, constantly checking on us during the meal.) She gave us several helpful suggestions to narrow down our choices on the huge three-sided menu. My sister chose the chicken Alfredo. I went for the breakfast and had the baby O...the 1/3-sized version of Omar's breakfast plate. Basically it's a cheese enchilada, topped with shredded beef, and then topped again with an egg (I had over-easy). It also comes with beans, cheese, and either hash browns or rice. Oh. Wait. And two tortillas. AND...two biscuits and homemade gravy. Now remember, this is the BABY-sized version!!! My sister found out that her pasta dish also came with soup or salad (a huge "side" salad) and garlic bread. And another side (she was worn out with ordering by then but chose whipped potatoes). The platters of food were massive. MASSIVE. My sister remarked, truthfully, that she could eat for a week on the leftovers. Let me just say that my baby O was heavenly. I tried my best and managed to make a serious dent in that plate. But I was too full to touch the biscuits. Our waitress showed us the DDHAP (apple pie a la mode) as she carried it to another table. I'm guessing it would easily serve four. Our bill was only $23 including the two refillable sodas. I'm still full!! This is a must-visit. I will definitely visit whenever I'm in town.

Great place to eat. Good service and good size potions if hungry. Just as a caution.... ask for al a mode on dessert beware of a giant size helping of soft serve. Very reasonably priced and great atmosphere too.

Awesome! Great food, huge portions at decent price. One of my favorites. Been coming here for a while. Had the burgers, the salads, the "dinners" and a lot more. All great. My family does miss our favorite waitress, "Grandma Judy". We miss ya :( She was the best.

Can I say bad service, dirty table and bad food. Nothing was good I got the fried stake and it was nasty it tasted frozen and the mash potatoes were cold. My friend got the club with fries and the lettuce had brown spots and the fries were not cook all the way. We didn't get that good of service because we chose to drink water and I guess because we had our own water the server never came to check on us until the end to give us the check. Nope never going back there

This place is awesome, if your looking for huge portions! The have everything from breakfast to dinner. The only downside to this place is the decor and service. After midnight there's a very elderly women serving by herself... Other than that food and portions are great!!

    (4)
  • Brian D.

I'll give 2 on service and 5 for the quality of the food! These older women need to retire if they do not like serving. 2 different times I visited this place and had two different servers. Rude and short is the only way I could describe. The food is amazing!! The service is not!

I ate here alot when I lived around there. Service is always so sweet and the food is great. The country fried steak is oh so yummy. The portions are pretty large so you need to eat like a trucker.

  • Lorrin C.

Brightly lit facility with friendly, attentive staff. Generous portions to all involved. My son had a bowl of soup the size of a tureen. John had pork roast and reported it over done institutional food. I had a large country fried steak with mashed potatoes and beans but not the green kind for some reason. Anyway, we left filled and satisfied. After a long day on the road it would be something to look forward to.

I've been eating at Triple T since I was a little kid and remember the restaurant before it was Omar's. There was a big change when it changed owners, but that was years ago and I've grown up, too. Omar's is truck stop food. Large portions for hungry truckers. My brother is an owner/operator of a 10-car carrier (or a parking lot if you like their jargon). I like truckers and truck stops and truck stop food. Omar's is pretty good food. I've had lots of different meals here. The fried fish is always a winner. The brown gravy is a little too salty for me. I tried a Mexican platter the other day and the chimichanga was tasty, but the tortilla chips were way too salty. Now the dessert is a topic all its own! DDHAP - deep dish hot apple pie or cherry pie if you're like me. The pie is baked in its own single serving bowl and served with at least 4 inches of ice cream on top. It is incredible and Omar's is well known for it. So the next time you're passing through Tucson and are looking for a place to grab a bite to eat, or are in town and want something different for dessert, head out to Omar's and try it. Don't be surprised if you return or wish you could.

Love the friendly service here! I tried the chicken fried steak because of all the reviews, but I think three white gravy is too sweet for my liking.. But how is the actual steak part still so crispy under the pool of gravy is beyond me. The flavor is great and the portion is huge. I can't wait to go back and try more things!

No offense to the other reviewers, but an average 4 stars for the TTT? Perhaps there are other, secret, hidden specialities of the TTT that is code for backroom whatevers that the other reviewers fancy... Without asking questions, I'll just move right along and say for food... it's about a 2. Maybe 2.5. I do a training at a facility down the road from there, it's several times a year and I'm there for a week at a time, so I get plenty of opportunity for chow at the TTT. I prefer to try and avoid it whenever I can (favoring even the dirty, grossness of the A&W usually... at least you can get good rootbeer milkshakes!). However, it one of the only restaurants nearby, so I get trapped into going at least once or twice during these weeks. The slogan for this place should be "the basics". You order a hamburger, you get the frozen hamburger patty grilled on a generic bun with generic sides and generic frozen/fried bulk french fries. You order whatever and you get the generic, frozen to fried/baked/grilled option of that meal plus whatever frozen to fried or out-of-the-can side. I've never had anything there that tasted homemade. And I've never had anything there that's particularly good. Not bad, but definitely not good. It's the place you go in a pinch... when nothing else is close by, or you need to stop also for gas and you happen to be starving. Or you have a life-or-death urge to play Deal or No Deal.

If you like mid-western greasy spoon breakfast joints, then this is the place for you! I had seen it a number of times traveling down the I-10, saw that it was part of the Triple T truck stop and never gave it a second thought until Alana J. and I happened to be discussing our favorite locales of this particular type. She informed me that this was a must-try eatery, and now that I've been, I'm hooked! I suppose the menu is about what you'd expect from these kinds of places (although in reality its much more extensive than the website would imply): omelets, skillets, sandwiches, burgers, and other assorted breakfast and lunch fare, but they also have an entire dinner section which includes Mexican, Italian, Mid-western, and other options. The prices are pretty low, and for what you get extremely reasonable. The ambiance is charming in its own 50's diner sort of way. Alana had a breakfast plate of some sort with eggs, bacon, sausage, a few other things, and ordered a cup of chili on the side. I was informed that this place had some amazing chili, and though I prefer my chili without beans, this was some MIGHTY tasty chili. I was also informed before I came that this place has the best bacon ever, and that is NO lie. Thick cut, cooked to perfection...wait, I need to type this in caps in case people don't read this entire review... THE BEST BACON IN ALL OF TUCSON, AND POSSIBLY THE UNIVERSE!!! ...ok, where was I? Ah yes, so I originally ordered the hot pastrami sandwich, but the chef accidently brought me a Patty Melt. I informed the waitress, and she was very kind and offered to switch it out, but they were basically the same price and I do love me a patty melt, so I decided to keep it. My patty melt was delicious, as were the accompanying fries and ranch dressing. But ultimately, the winner of the day was the bacon. Seriously, if you go here and dont get something with bacon, you're just a fool. So anyway, Ill be back for lots more bacon, and next time Im going to try one of the many homemade pies that they offer. They looked delicious, and if it had not been for the fact that I was full of bacon and shame, I would have tried a slice. Definitely worth the trip!

This is a truck stop folks! You go here for good, quick, basic food. They have a wide variety too! It is a unique place to go. My dad used to bring me here and we ate in the trucker section. I would watch all the truckers on their phones talking, and thought it was neat that they got their food first so they could get back on the road! Go to this place for the experience!

If your toddler is really into big trucks or if people watching is more important to you than food then go ahead and give the triple T a shot. If you're looking for a good roadside breakfast than don't bother. I asked our server what was better, the pancakes or the battered Texas toast. She told me they were basically the same thing. I ordered the battered Texas toast. After two bites I decided that it wasn't worth it to continue eating. The toast was raw in the middle and had an overpowering metallic taste. I went in for a bite of my husbands scrambled eggs and was met with the unpleasant rubberyness that only comes from carton eggs. Game over. I will say that the staff was very friendly and they didn't balk at a table with an infant and a toddler. Fours stars for the super cute teenager who kept my coffee cup full and appreciated that I like to finish the mug before getting a refill so I can maintain the ideal coffee, sugar, cream ratio. The menu was huge so perhaps I just ordered the wrong thing. Unfortunately what I was served was so bad I wont be back to try anything else.

I live down the street from TTT. The food is good sometimes can be greasy or over cooked. The staff is friendly. The only problem I really had was the smell. It has an old moth ball smell which turns you off at first.

Come here if you want THE truck stop diner experience. This is one of the United States best truck stop diners according to the Travel Channel, and they are not lying. The plates are abundant in size and the food portions are ridiculous. If you want a great breakfast, and to take a nice nap from your food coma later, this place is for you. Service is fast. Waitresses talk up a storm. This place is just a good experience and should be experienced at least once, especially if you are a native of Tucson. Don't be surprised if you become a regular though, especially if you live in the area.

Omars has the best truck stop food! This is true authentic truck drivin' eatin here. Real waitresses, real home cooking. Comfortable booths to sit in (some even still have telephones there, harking to a long ago era in truck driving). There is a big carafe of icy cold water with cups waiting at each table. The menu offers up every kind of item imaginable for a truck stop, from 24-hour breakfasts to hearty burgers and fries. This is kind of place to get the "Lumberjack-size" breakfast plate with so much food it is ridiculous. The ice tea keeps getting refilled, the food is massive, and there is fresh baked pies available. If they have a special, consider it. I got a burger and sweet potato fries with a drink and pie for $10 last time. TTT isn't my favorite truck stop, by far, as it lacks a good gift shop. There is plenty here to offer a weary driver and includes a hotel to sleep in, barber, laundry and video games as well as lots of trucker supplies and parts for a rig. There are books and snacks in the gift shop. But come for the eating even if you're a local Tucsonan. They do offer a plate or two for "dieting" eaters, but forget the diet and feast here!
