Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Awesome Pizza! A true Tucson Icon! We love the three foot by three foot family size pizza. We get the cheese and pepperoni extra crispy.. When our grown kids come to town, the first place they want to hit is New York Pizza! Nothing fancy, and completely awesome! The recipe has not changed since they opened up! The sauce is fantastic, and the cheese/sauce/crust ratio is on target for perfection! The service is crazy, the the picnic tables and benches offer no comfort! But the experience is INCREDIBLE! Grab a pitcher of soda or beer, a big honkin' pizza and some family around or a bunch of friends! If you think you got it in ya... order the Family Size NY Special - Oh my gosh! Kitchen Sink Pizza that blows all competion! Delicious.. but honestly, you better come HUNGRY! This is a Diners, Drive-Inns, and Dives or a Man vs. Food kinda place.. Enjoy!!

Good east coast style pizza. As good as I've had out here in the desert. Great lunch special: huge slice of cheese pizza and a soda or beer for $3! Only gripe: they don't deliver, but still worth a drive.

Wow, what a disappointment. I ordered one slice and waited 20 minutes, even though I was the only waiting for food! I went into the bathroom and it was filthy. I don't think they have ever cleaned it. I then noticed that the whole place it dirty! The guys who work there pay no attention to customers. This place has even worst service than pizzerias in NYC. Oh, and the pizza was not very good either.

The pizza is pretty good if you get it hot. The wings are not that great. They kind of taste baked and it leaves them mushy. But a good place to eat overall.

One of the best lunch deals in the city, along with some of the best pizza. I have been visiting NY Pizza for years now. This place and Brooklyn Pizza (4th Ave) are my definitive favorites. Everyday until 3PM. $3 for a cheese slice and any fountain drink/draft or $5 for a double cheese slice and any fountain drink/draft Keep in mind the slices are HUGE, and that they have Amberbock on tap.

Mmmmmm, New York Pizza... I'm in LOVE! 30 minutes until closing and we still had a hot, huge, super delicious pizza. Family 22" Pepperoni and Sausage. Perfect proportion. The sausage was very mild and so yummy. Left overs re-heated well in the oven and microwave. Also, my hubby picked it up and mentioned the crew was chill/polite. New York Pizza is my new go-to pizza place!

I've grown up with this place since 1981...waaaaaaay before Yelp was a thought. I've eaten more lunches here than I can remember, and other than some oddball employees over the years, this is a slice of New York heaven. The place is a bit of a dive. Hasn't changed much since I hit puberty at Sahuaro HS - so don't expect anything shiny. The pizza is good old classic NY style pizza. Hard to screw that up. To their credit, the crust tastes better than most and the portions are huge. Anyone that can eat two slices for lunch deserves respect. That much grease in one person is enough to lube an old Chevy and then some. You won't find a slice like that AND a soda or beer for $3.25 anywhere else. We also get the Family pepperoni from time to time to feed the children. They like it and ask for it. Good thing I drive a Suburban. That thing won't fit in all cars, so leave your tiny little prius at home. There may be better, but not for what you get, and definitely not in our hood.

Ordered two giant pizzas last weekend when my sister was in town, and they were fantastic! Still freakishly huge, super thin & super hot, just like good New York pizza should be. 25 years after my first slice from NY Pizza, and I still love it. Thanks so much!!!
(5)Rich R.
Absolutly great pizza...enough said!!! By far one of the best tasting pizza I've found in Tucson...if you are looking for a pizza for a large party you must order the "family" pizza...22" of delish pizza...
(5)Jen D.
Yes the Employees will not win any Mr/Ms Congeniality contests anytime soon, but if you're looking for white glove table side service then this is not the place for you. Pizza is good and affordable, where else could you pick up 2 slices of pizza and a drink for less than $6? Family size pizzas to go may not fit in your backseat if you drive a small car. You've been warned to bring bungee cords so they can be safely strapped to the top as you drive home with your bounty. Our family favourite is the King Kong, its never failed to impress friends when we order it to go.

New York Pizza went from 'meh' to my favorite pizza place in five words: Double Pepperoni Family Style Pizza. It's SO good, and when they say double pepperoni they mean it... the pizza's absolutely covered in the stuff! I'm getting hungry just writing about it... excuse me.
(4)J C.
Always great pizza the family is huge it easily feeds 8 people when we have guests we get this have and it cut in squares. Will come back again and again.

This has been my favorite pizza place in AZ. As a long time New Yorker I knew it was a rare find. I've recommended it many times to friends and co-workers but I heard they were making their pizza too doughy now. I didn't want to believe it so I came back to check. I'm sad to say they were right. They've lost that great thin crust, fresh cheese, tasty sauce and general great NY pizza quality. I don't know what has caused the change but I hope they go back to how they made them before.
(3)Matthew G.
This is some of the best pizza I have ever eaten. I will say, you love it or hate it. We have been coming for 10+ years, and my family loves it. Yet, some of my friends just do not like it. The sauce is perfect, and sweet. The sausage is what I love. It is crumbled and so spice and good.
(5)Nessa M.
Had their lunch special a slice of pizza and a large drink. I have bought their family size pizza in the past as well. I think they make an excellent pizza and the dough and service is fantastic!

My boyfriend and were enthusiastic about trying this place. Not great, not terrible. The atmosphere is uncomfortable. Why is the tv right in front of the counter where you pay? It was awkward because we were in the way of everyone watching the game. You have to walk in front of everyone, they looked angry. Now the pizza, according to my bf, who actually is from New York, is no where near "New York" pizza. I've never had authentic New York pizza, but the pizza was not great. The Mozerella cheese was basically gummed to the pizza and hard to eat. The sauce, meh, tasted like canned tomato sauce. The crust was pretty good and tasted fresh with good consistency. We got a small pizza, just to try it. Might as well gotten a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut for much less. Not worth the price.
(2)David W.
This is an awesome pizza joint. Great lunch specials. I bring my Wife and kid here and we all eat lunch for less than $9. Plus, they have old school arcade games. Ain't no school like the old school!
(5)Alison H.
I cannot believe that there are not more reviews for this place, it has been around forever and it's absolutely amazing! The size of their family pizza is insane you can barely get it in your car door lol. Definitely the perfect place to order pizza from when throwing a party :-). The dough was fantastic they are thinly sliced pizzas slices, sui the crust is nice and crunchy the cheese is amazing pepperoni is great, the only complaint I have is I think their mushrooms come from a can, ick. They don't deliver but they have a great special everyday up until I think 3:00 pm. You get one slice of pizza and either one draft beer or a soda ( no free refills though) in for you hungry people out there they offer a special with two slices :-)
(5)Bernard S.
Consistent, great tasting pizza. Few pizza joints in Tucson can compete with this venue.
(5)The S.
Went here on Saturday, hoping to get a taste of some really great pizza. good reviews and friends said I would love this place. I wish I could love this place, but the taste is not what I am looking for. The pizza itself was... It was alright at best. A bit too much dough and canned mushrooms on a pizza.....is not very good. The sauce on the pizza also kinda reminds me of the sauce from spaghetti-ohs? You can try and see if you get that taste as well. Best part of the pizza was the cheese.

Stopped in today after church to have lunch with my bride and one of the men serving at Royal Family Kids Camp this year. We've been here several times in the past and always enjoy the pizza. You can buy a slice and drink for a reasonable price. I love the simple layout in the dining area, benches and tables (cafeteria style). I was looking forward to our visit today, which is why it pains me a little to write this review. The first thing that hit me about the place today was the heat, it was hot and muggy in the restaurant providing no relief from the heat outside. In fact, it was a relief to walk out after lunch because we were able to escape the humidity/mugginess. When we place dour order, the guy behind the counter was a little less than enthused to be there. Granted, it is probably because he had to be there without relief from the humidity in the room so please understand this is not an attack on his character. In fact, when I ordered a pitcher of soda he was nice enough to remind us that when buying a slice of pizza we receive a free drink. I think he did his job to the best of his ability. Customer service could use a boost, but I think that issue would be resolved if they provided a cooler or more suitable environment. My bride had a slice with sausage, and each of the men had a slice of pepperoni. The pizza is amazing: great sauce with just enough cheese. The dough is super thin and cooked perfectly, and the flavor and texture are very traditional. It's tough to nail the flavor of New York pizza pie, but these guys take a good run at it. So why the 3 stars? We ordered 3 slices and some garlic cheese bread. The bread was decent, but came out after the slices and I'm a little picky about making multiple trips to the counter for my order. It would have been nice to have everything come out at once. Again, if you've ever read on of my reviews, you know I am a stickler about customer service and even though it is understandable they might be grumpy due to the heat; I'm scoring the store and not the individuals so they get dinged for not providing a comfortable work place as well. I say get your pie to go but be prepared to wait knowing it will be worth it when you grab a slice. 3 out of 5 is not that bad, you have to almost kill somebody to get a lower score. We'll go back when the temperature outside drops a little.

Great lunch special, best slice of pizza I've had in a long time!
(5)Tayton S.
One of my favorite pizza places in town with old school arcade games and great NY pizza with huge slices. A must try for anyone in tucson
(5)Madi L.
Based on other reviews of this place, I had some expectations and unfortunately, they were not met. We ordered a medium pie with pep and pineapple. For starters, the sauce tasted like straight tomato paste. It was, dare I say, too tomato-ey and boy did they pile it on. The cheese was stretchy, which is always a nice touch, but it was just straight mozzarella. It tasted like they just melted a cheese stix snack on top. Maybe throw some provolone and parmesean in the mix, eh? The pep was limp and bland and the pineapple was definitely from a can. It was over saturated in its own juice. I know this may sound kind of harsh, but for a place that has been around so long and apparently has so many loyal customers, it was a disappointing experience. The man who took our order was nice, though. Next time, we will be trying another one of Tucson's 396 pizza joints.

two and a half stars, mostly because of the price for their lunch deal. it's almost unheard of to get a slice of pizza and a soda or draft beer for $3.25 (for two slices and soda/beer, $5.75). i've never been to new york, so i don't know what a real new york pizza is supposed to be like. they basically made a bunch of cheese pizzas before hand and then cut a slice when you order, and add toppings and pop it in the oven to heat it. the inside isn't much to look at. they have a few arcade games on the right wall as you walk in. they could do a better job of keeping the place cleaner, though. dusting every once in a while would go a long way. the other thing that didn't sit well with me was that they don't have free refills. i understand charging (maybe) half the price to refill a drink that i already have a cup for, but to charge me full price for a drink again? ughhh. come on! you already mark up soda 400+%.
(3)Brittany A.
Pizza is great but service ruined the whole experience. This was my first time ordering and if I went based off service, I wouldn't be back. Actually, I probably won't be back because Mama's has great pizza and great customer service every time I go. I called in and was immediately put on hold, which means the phone is put on the counter while they deal with other customers and talk to coworkers. The lady picked up, said "large pepperoni pizza?" which is not what I ordered but surprisingly, is what I wanted, so I said yes. She started talking to someone else for a few minutes, then said "30-35 minutes" and hung up on me. A little customer service would go a long way, especially when there are comparable pizza places around who do better in that area.
(2)Liz M.
We have been coming here for 3 years. Great pizza usually-thin and doughy like back East. Recently, it's been thick and just gross. The service is definitely below average and employees often look like they're on break behind the counter. I am giving 4 stars based on the hope that the thicker crust was the result of an inexperienced employee and that next time I visit I will receive the delicious thin crust I went in for.
(4)Russell F.
After having lunch there a couple of times over the last month I figured we try some takeout. When the order was placed we were told 30 minutes, however it took over an hour. The excuse was an oven was broken. If the broken oven was going to impact the quoted time, they should tell you so one could decide if they wanted to wait or go to Mama's. Pizza is ok, service was poor.
(2)Janae B.
We eat here all.the.time and it's super delish! The only thing I would change is that they would use fresh mushrooms instead of canned! Other than that, it's great!
(4)Shannon J.
The "Family Size" Pizza is fantastic! We have always been completely satisfied with the service and food. If you are looking for quality pizza at a decent price for a group (or delicious leftovers), this is definitely the place to go.
(5)Erin M.
One star seems pretty harsh... but this was some of the worst pizza I have ever had. I mean, the frozen Digiorno I buy at the grocery store is better than this place. We picked it because of all the great reviews, but another reviewer mentioned that they are recently under new management and since then the dough has been thick and just gross--and I will second that. This dough tasted foul and the texture was nasty. The toppings all tasted like they had been canned. We didn't even take home our leftovers...and we LOVE pizza. I think that speaks for itself. Maybe this place used to be good but something has gone horribly wrong.

My fondest memories of here are from childhood. Playing on the old school arcade game machines... hello mortal kombat and pacman. Watching the pizza being made, you can view them tossing the dough. Eating those ginormous pieces of pizza. MMM the PIE: made from scratch dough is hand tossed then layered with just the perfect amount of tomato sauce which is full of flavor yet not overpowering. The pie is covered in cheese, and whatever toppings you choose; most fresh however some are the canned variations of veggies. All oven baked to perfection with cheese melted to a just right consistency and a crust which is light and cooked just right. the DIGS: very very casual place. From the outside to inside, not much to look at. Big slice. Small price. -- that really should be their slogan!
(4)Dan M.
Amazing pizza for a very reasonable price. $3.25 gets you 2 slices of cheese pizza and a drink. The slices are huge and can easily feed two. Every time I'm in the Tucson area I try to stop in for a slice or two.
(4)Steve F.
Been going here sense I was a kid. Have always loved this pizza. The price is fair for good made from scratch pizza. Will always be coming back to this place.
(5)Liz W.
This pizza joint has been around since I could remember. I may not be very old but I remember it being open in the early 90's ;) Large pizza's = delish
(4)Ginger S.
Amazing pizza! Casual atmosphere, lots of seating. Will return the next time I'm in Tucson!
(5)K M.
Could be the best in Tucson. Vibe is old-time pizza shop, you sorta expect Jay and Silent Bob standing around esp. with the head shop down the way. The pizza here is balanced. It is traditional "American" pizza. Thin crust, sausage is dusted on, not chunky. My hoity-toity preference. Pepperoni is not too salty (like Pizza Hut) and they have a Family size which is like 26" or so, great for feeding a buncha kids after a ball game or during a weekend night video-game tourney in your abode. Or good to take your little-league team to celebrate finishing their game. Lunch deals are good - - a couplathree bucks for a slice or two and soda. They're busy so don't expect sparkling conversations from the employees. They work their butts off in here so tip well. Do not touch the tv.
(4)Elsbeth P.
New York Pizza has been around a long time, and there's a reason why: their pizza is GOOD. One of our favorite things to do is place an order to go at the restaurant and have a beer while we wait (they have draught and bottles). They also offer wings and salads (the chef salad is great!). It's a family-friendly dining environment, with picnic table seating and video games (and a TV to watch the U of A game!). It hasn't been updated in years (my fiance has been going here since he was little and says it's still the same), but that's what gives New York Pizza its character. The small MINOR downsides: they use canned mushrooms, not fresh, on their pizza, and sometimes (every 5th trip or so) has some bitter/burnt stuff on the bottom because they need to clean out the oven. Neither of these is enough to deter me- they have great service and the food is consistent.
(4)Leah H.
I had heard great things about this place and we were in the neighborhood so we thought we'd try it out. What a disappointment!! The service was the absolute worst I have ever experienced! The lady taking our order was the rudest person I have ever encountered in the food industry! And I've had better pizza from the frozen section of the grocery store. I will never go back!
(1)Chris K.
Great large thin pizza and not that cracker stuff, but real New York pizza. Not sure what anything else tastes like because I always get the 'family size', it just barely fits in the back seat of my car. It's not a fine dining establishment, think more tattoo than tux, but I've always got great service and good food.
(4)Martinez M.
this is the best pizza Ihave had in tucson in 30 years, and reminded me of New Jersey. the price it right and we loved it.
(5)wendy h.
The night we spent $18 on a large pizza w/2 toppings it was about 8-8:30pm Sunday night. Maybe it was the timing but this was the biggest waste of money. It wasn't a thin or thick crust so it was like a bread. While I don't mind the mushrooms come from a can, some may want fresh. I got pepperoni/mushroom and it was somewhere in between ho-hum to gross. We couldn't stand the taste, so fed some of half of the pizza to our dogs and threw out the other half. It was far from where we live too, but wanted to try this place for a long time. I think we had a good slice of pizza over 6 yrs ago, but it is vague and that may be why we wanted to try a whole pizza. Yuck! We'll never go back there again
(1)Chuck Z.
Always fresh, always great! Reminds me of the place in Poughkeepsie, NY where I grew up!
