Food: I am very critical when it comes to pizza places, because so many places like to claim "New York Style Pizza" or claim they have the best pizza in town even though their pizza tastes like the ass of a cardboard box (just choose an end and bite). So when I say this place has awesome pizza, you can take it to the bank and cash it. The pizza is thin crust, but here's the good part, the crust is always perfectly cooked so it's crunchy around the edge AND on the bottom, so many pizza places have not figured out how to get the botttom crunchy and it comes out soft or soggy, Mario's has found the secret and it's delicious. The only minor quibble would be that they do not season their pizzas, they bring pepper flakes and parmasean to the table and let you do that, if they were to add some pepper and some oregano to their pizzas, they would be perfect. Cost: The pizza's are fairly priced, it's not Little Ceasar's $5 pizza, but then again you're getting top quality pizza, so you get what you pay for. Pro-tip: don't buy their drinks, they charge WAY too much for their drinks. I don't mind paying top dollar for their pizza, but not their drinks. My advice, get their pizza to go and buy drinks elsewhere. Dining Area: Their dining area is a bit small and nothing fancy, but I've never been there and had to wait for a seat, so it seems to be appropriate for the business they get. However, in the few times I've been there, I've been approached twice by people trying to get money from me with their sad stories, one while I was eating inside the establishment (not cool) and once outside. Parking: Parking is plenty for this place, no problems here. Service: Service has always been great, profesional and friendly, pizza comes out quickly and the it's always hot and fresh. Summary: Despite the high prices they charge for their drinks, they have the best pizza I've put in my mouth outside of NY and it is for that reason I encourage you to give this place a try, just get it to go and buy your drinks elsewhere.

Mario's gets four stars for being exactly what I hoped it would be. It's not a new take on a classic, it is the classic. A big, thin, foldable New York style slice for around two bucks. Nothing pretentious about this pie, just cheesey goodness. (For toppings on "by the slice" orders they seem to put the toppings on a cooked pie and then give it a brief run through the oven. This is pretty standard in my experience, but if you don't like, say, fresh bell pepper, don't order any toppings that you only enjoy thoughoughly cooked). Also, they will deliver beer with orders. :D

So suffice it to say: I was not thrilled. But to be fair, this is a pizza place, and I didn't have the pizza. I didn't think I could give a pissy review of a locally-owned, generally-appreciated pizza place just on the basis of one inadequate sub (or even a systematically inadequate range of tiny subs, extrapolating from the size of the bread). So today I got a pizza for dinner. Taking advantage of the everyday "special" on their website, I ordered a large (14") green chili pizza ($11.99+tax -- actually 1 cent less than the normal price of a 14" cheese pizza). Like the sub, the pizza was pretty tasty. The crust is a really interesting textural experience, with a thin layer of oily crunch underlying a layer of rather chewy, doughy crust. The sauce is simple and bright, the cheese mixture has a good flavor and a nice springiness, and they didn't skimp on the chopped green chilis (though they used mild ones, which was disappointing). So overall, I'd say the pizza was a pretty decent success, though again, perhaps not particularly remarkable. There's just one thing... Here's a thesis for you: A pizza that I can eat in one sitting by myself without even feeling overstuffed is, as a matter of analytic truth, not a large pizza. And guess what I just did. Yeah. So as far as I can tell from my small-but-hopefully-representative sample, here's the deal: Mario's makes pretty good-tasting food, and if you have no problem dumping a crapload of money into a pizza joint dinner, then you will likely finish your meal relatively happy. The problem is that most people aren't going to be willing to do that and, as a result, if they have anything resembling a large appetite they are going to be famished at the end of one of these meals. With tax included, I just dumped around $13 on pizza just for myself for one meal, and I only got one topping, AND that includes me taking advantage of a special that dropped the pre-tax price by $1.51. That's kind of ridiculous if you ask me, and something I will definitely not do again. As far as my recommendation goes, I'd say to look elsewhere to satisfy your pizza shop cravings.

I like it a lot but it's not the best pizza I've ever had. We ordered half Hawaiian and half Cowboy (cheddar, bacon and green chiles mmm). I liked the Cowboy better and my bf liked the Hawaiian. Also, if you're really hungry or like to have left overs go for the extra large. My bf and I scarfed a large in no time! Delivery time was short and the pizza was still hot, which is to be expected since we live one city block away. I'd def order from here again!

Mario's pizza is the best! My work orders from here every Thursday and I love it so I just ordered a large pizza, soda and wings from them and they had them delivered to me in 18 minutes! I've never had anything delivered so fast in my life! Plus it's all super hot and delicious and it was super cheap $20 plus tip! I would highly highly recommend this place to anyone give them a try if you're in the Tucson area as they are local and family owned!

My first time here which I mentioned and they assured me it wouldn't be my last. My personal size pizza was a disspointment-you needed a microscope to see the toppings and they do not provide parmesan or chili flakes in their take out. The chicken wings were inedible- "hot" sauce was mild at best and hardly coated the meat which tasted old like freezer burn-they included ranch but no celery or carrots for dipping like most places . I like to support local business but for $15, you can do alot better at even the worst chain brand where they don't skimp on ingredients or freshness

We have been ordering from Marios for the past 5 years and have never been disappointed with any of their food. I love the variety of their appetizers including fried shrimp, mozzarella sticks, mushrooms etc. Their wings are tasty and the pizza slices are huge and floppy - so good! Admittedly, I am a picky pizza girl who grew up in northeastern U.S. in the presence of many great pizza joints. (Love you New Haven & New York!) With such an upbringing, I cultivated a particular standard for pizza. Now, just to warn you, Mario's definitely does NOT win the 'prettiest restaurant' prize. It IS a dive. There's a drive-through liquor store right next door! But their pizza brings me a little bit closer back to my northeastern roots. And there are only two pizza joints in Tucson who can live up to that. (f.y.i. the other is Brooklyn Pizza.)

I am truly mystified as to how this place has so many decent reviews. The prices at this place are exorbitant. Especially when you get a wimpy, thin, 14" pizza for nearly $20. I'm not knocking thin pizza, either. Thin pizza is fine if what's on top of the pizza can hold it's own. My dislike of this place comes from that $20 buys you a film of sauce, a few wisps of spinach, and a few chewy bits that might have once sat within the same building as a sausage. Not on the same floor though, to be sure. In fairness, their cheese blend isn't bad. It has the proper pizza consistency that allows stretching when hot but biting through it isn't hindered by it being too rubbery. I say this just to validate not giving the place zero stars. But that's not enough to save it. Not even a little bit worth wasting your time on. I've tried it a few times, and been horribly disappointed each time. I'd open that pizza box each time hoping that this time there'll be something worth eating in there. There never was.

The first time I had their pizza it was great! The crust was crispy, the sauce was flavorfull and there was a perfect amount of toppings to sauce. The second and third times we ordered it was a different story. The crust was limp and soggy and the cheese and toppings tasted like the pizza had been sitting for an hour. I also ordered a dinner salad and it was terrible! The lettuce was mostly "bones" and the italian dressing tasted like just oil and vinegar. There was no flavor. Overall, I have been pretty disappointed.

Terrible servous and rude cook. There is a guy with rainbow hair that just doesn't care about the customer. He just stands there and smiles at you. I think thats just creepy. Never the less the place is a hole in the wall and gives you a dirty feeling. There was also flys buzzing around you and your food. Thats just gross and unsanitary. I would sagest that a health inspector check this place out. Its a great place for a homeless person to loiter around!

This is a great long time favorite of mine and plenty of other people's too. The dining room was remodeled in May 2010. My favorite is the Steak Bomb, a Philly Steak n Cheese style sandwich which comes on a toasted bun that is a light bread, not one of those heavy bread type buns. You can also order your pizza with extra thin crust (not on the menu) and it beats anyones in thinness. Awesome!

This was my second time at Mario's Pizza, the first time was an "ok" experience so I wanted to give it another chance. My first pizza was a large for$14 with coupon, average price. The pizza was alright but barely had any cheese and was extremely thin. My second experience was horrible the medium Pizza was tiny , it was a medium and also barely had any cheese with my topping being extra cheese haha. It gets worse they over charged me for it it was supposed to be 8.99 + tax but when I saw my bank statement I got charged a dollar more. I didnt want to go back and fight over a dollar , but be we warned of getting overcharged if you eat there one-day. Overall, the pizza was well below average and along with my overcharged bill I think they deserve a lonely star. Its sad that a local pizza joint does worse than a franchise Pizzeria.

If you're into greasy pizza this is your Nirvana. I used to go here years ago when I was in High School with one of my buddies at least once a week. We would stuff down a large peperoni and leave the pizza joint with burnt mouths, and loved every second of it. You may recognize this spot by the weird Army tank parked in the parking lot next door. Not sure if it is still there, as I have since moved out of town. If you haven't been yet and need a grease pie, then this is your spot. Totally delicious!

It's a dive and places like this are a dime a dozen in the northeast, but here in the Sonora desert, this is about as close to real New York pizza that you're going to find. Nothing fancy in any respect, but it is what it is and more importantly, they deliver exactly what they are advertising. Miles above the chains. We always eat-in and they bring it hot and sizzling from the oven to the table in about 15 minutes. Ambiance, zero. Staff, surly. Pizza, perfect. $14 for a large pie. Recommended.

Being from Brooklyn New York, I'm ALWAYS looking for New York Pizza. That's a hard item to find in Tucson Arizona. I'm happy to say that Marios is as close as I have gotten to the real thing. Yes, it's more authentic than Brooklyn Pizza or Mamas Pizza. However, they have a 14", a 16" and a 20" whereas the 18" is the authentic size. I don't think anything about driving there to pick up a pie from Green Valley/Sahuarita area. In all the years of searching for New York Pizza in California nad now in Tucson is, when you find the real thing, it costs less than the NON-NEW YORK type pizza. Go on, try it, you'll love it!

I bought a 15.00 pizza that should have been worth 5 dollars. I was so mad at my self for walking out with it without complaining. It was barely a pizza, wimpy like one reviewer said. As I was driving home, trying to think of other things to cook because this was hardly enough for one person, I kept opening the box and looking at it as if it was going to get bigger the more I did it lol! 12" two topping pizza, very greasy, VERY small, skimpy toppings and $13. I'm actually sad to say I prefer Dominos. A Dominos pizza is twice the food for 1/3 less $$, and not so greasy. I went in to Mario's with high hopes. I can't believe they'll stay in business much longer if this economy stays crappy. Their food is just not competitively priced and not good enough (judging by one pizza, granted) to warrant return patronage. Other reviews say the sandwiches are also tiny. If you're going to charge premium prices, at least give decent if not big portions.

THEY WILL STEAL YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER . . . quicker than they deliver their pizza. Pizza is marginally ok. Nothing special. You can do better at a half dozen places nearby, but please, please watch out when giving a credit card number by phone here. I used my card here (gave # over phone and then they used old fashioned machine to swipe imprint at the house) after not using it for more than a month and two days later someone was trying to use my card number in Fresno.

Went here for lunch today. It's a great place if you're just looking for a simple, thin crust pizza. I really enjoy their breadsticks. They're thin enough for a nice crisp when you bite in but also thick enough to have some chewiness to it. We got a 16" for 3 people, and it came with a free order of breadsticks (free breadsticks for 14" or larger pie). We also tried their fried mushrooms, and it hit the spot. And its too bad, cause they have awesome pizza, but i guess now i have to find a new pizza place, back to brooklyn pizza for me.

I have been eating this pizza since I was a little kid and it still tastes the same. I do miss the video games that used to be there but overall the place has kept what has made it great over the years which is great thin crust pizza

My first time here which I mentioned and they assured me it wouldn't be my last. My personal size pizza was a disspointment-you needed a microscope to see the toppings and they do not provide parmesan or chili flakes in their take out. The chicken wings were inedible- "hot" sauce was mild at best and hardly coated the meat which tasted old like freezer burn-they included ranch but no celery or carrots for dipping like most places . I like to support local business but for $15, you can do alot better at even the worst chain brand where they don't skimp on ingredients or freshness

We have been ordering from Marios for the past 5 years and have never been disappointed with any of their food. I love the variety of their appetizers including fried shrimp, mozzarella sticks, mushrooms etc. Their wings are tasty and the pizza slices are huge and floppy - so good! We have yet to try subs here as we always go for the pizza but maybe next time. . . maybe.

Admittedly, I am a picky pizza girl who grew up in northeastern U.S. in the presence of many great pizza joints. (Love you New Haven & New York!) With such an upbringing, I cultivated a particular standard for pizza. Now, just to warn you, Mario's definitely does NOT win the 'prettiest restaurant' prize. It IS a dive. There's a drive-through liquor store right next door! But their pizza brings me a little bit closer back to my northeastern roots. And there are only two pizza joints in Tucson who can live up to that. (f.y.i. the other is Brooklyn Pizza.)

I am truly mystified as to how this place has so many decent reviews. The prices at this place are exorbitant. Especially when you get a wimpy, thin, 14" pizza for nearly $20. I'm not knocking thin pizza, either. Thin pizza is fine if what's on top of the pizza can hold it's own. My dislike of this place comes from that $20 buys you a film of sauce, a few wisps of spinach, and a few chewy bits that might have once sat within the same building as a sausage. Not on the same floor though, to be sure. In fairness, their cheese blend isn't bad. It has the proper pizza consistency that allows stretching when hot but biting through it isn't hindered by it being too rubbery. I say this just to validate not giving the place zero stars. But that's not enough to save it. Not even a little bit worth wasting your time on. I've tried it a few times, and been horribly disappointed each time. I'd open that pizza box each time hoping that this time there'll be something worth eating in there. There never was.

The first time I had their pizza it was great! The crust was crispy, the sauce was flavorfull and there was a perfect amount of toppings to sauce. The second and third times we ordered it was a different story. The crust was limp and soggy and the cheese and toppings tasted like the pizza had been sitting for an hour. I also ordered a dinner salad and it was terrible! The lettuce was mostly "bones" and the italian dressing tasted like just oil and vinegar. There was no flavor. Overall, I have been pretty disappointed.

GREAT NY Pizza. This is the best pizza I've had in Tucson. This is NY/NJ Pizza. Why Cant anyone else figure it out. Maybe a little expensive but wort it to me.

Terrible servous and rude cook. There is a guy with rainbow hair that just doesn't care about the customer. He just stands there and smiles at you. I think thats just creepy. Never the less the place is a hole in the wall and gives you a dirty feeling. There was also flys buzzing around you and your food. Thats just gross and unsanitary. I would sagest that a health inspector check this place out. Its a great place for a homeless person to loiter around!

This is a great long time favorite of mine and plenty of other people's too. The dining room was remodeled in May 2010. My favorite is the Steak Bomb, a Philly Steak n Cheese style sandwich which comes on a toasted bun that is a light bread, not one of those heavy bread type buns. You can also order your pizza with extra thin crust (not on the menu) and it beats anyones in thinness. Awesome!

This was my second time at Mario's Pizza, the first time was an "ok" experience so I wanted to give it another chance. My first pizza was a large for$14 with coupon, average price. The pizza was alright but barely had any cheese and was extremely thin. My second experience was horrible the medium Pizza was tiny , it was a medium and also barely had any cheese with my topping being extra cheese haha. It gets worse they over charged me for it it was supposed to be 8.99 + tax but when I saw my bank statement I got charged a dollar more. I didnt want to go back and fight over a dollar , but be we warned of getting overcharged if you eat there one-day. Overall, the pizza was well below average and along with my overcharged bill I think they deserve a lonely star. Its sad that a local pizza joint does worse than a franchise Pizzeria.

Our neighbor told us about this place over 2 years ago. We finally went there last week, and after some disappointing pizza slices (crazy greasy, lacking flavor, and poor crust quality) and disappointing service (soooo slow for two slices), our words as we left were "Well, at least now we know..."

If you're into greasy pizza this is your Nirvana. I used to go here years ago when I was in High School with one of my buddies at least once a week. We would stuff down a large peperoni and leave the pizza joint with burnt mouths, and loved every second of it. You may recognize this spot by the weird Army tank parked in the parking lot next door. Not sure if it is still there, as I have since moved out of town. If you haven't been yet and need a grease pie, then this is your spot. Totally delicious!

It's a dive and places like this are a dime a dozen in the northeast, but here in the Sonora desert, this is about as close to real New York pizza that you're going to find. Nothing fancy in any respect, but it is what it is and more importantly, they deliver exactly what they are advertising. Miles above the chains. We always eat-in and they bring it hot and sizzling from the oven to the table in about 15 minutes. Ambiance, zero. Staff, surly. Pizza, perfect. $14 for a large pie. Recommended.

Being from Brooklyn New York, I'm ALWAYS looking for New York Pizza. That's a hard item to find in Tucson Arizona. I'm happy to say that Marios is as close as I have gotten to the real thing. Yes, it's more authentic than Brooklyn Pizza or Mamas Pizza. However, they have a 14", a 16" and a 20" whereas the 18" is the authentic size. I don't think anything about driving there to pick up a pie from Green Valley/Sahuarita area. In all the years of searching for New York Pizza in California nad now in Tucson is, when you find the real thing, it costs less than the NON-NEW YORK type pizza. Go on, try it, you'll love it!

I bought a 15.00 pizza that should have been worth 5 dollars. I was so mad at my self for walking out with it without complaining. It was barely a pizza, wimpy like one reviewer said. As I was driving home, trying to think of other things to cook because this was hardly enough for one person, I kept opening the box and looking at it as if it was going to get bigger the more I did it lol! Not worth the money, very expensive for what you get.

Yummy pizza! I even ate the thin crust. I am new to the area so I was driving down 1st ave and saw the place. Glad I decided to call. Good choice. A basic large 14 inch pepperoni pizza was 14+ dollars :)

12" two topping pizza, very greasy, VERY small, skimpy toppings and $13. I'm actually sad to say I prefer Dominos. A Dominos pizza is twice the food for 1/3 less $$, and not so greasy. I went in to Mario's with high hopes. I can't believe they'll stay in business much longer if this economy stays crappy. Their food is just not competitively priced and not good enough (judging by one pizza, granted) to warrant return patronage. Other reviews say the sandwiches are also tiny. If you're going to charge premium prices, at least give decent if not big portions.

THEY WILL STEAL YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER . . . quicker than they deliver their pizza. Pizza is marginally ok. Nothing special. You can do better at a half dozen places nearby, but please, please watch out when giving a credit card number by phone here. I used my card here (gave # over phone and then they used old fashioned machine to swipe imprint at the house) after not using it for more than a month and two days later someone was trying to use my card number in Fresno.

I ordered a delivery large sausage pizza. Delivered in 30 minutes on a Wednesday night. With tip my total was over $16. Pizza was cooked perfectly. Nice texture to the crust, good amount of sausage, sauce, and cheese.

Went here for lunch today. It's a great place if you're just looking for a simple, thin crust pizza. I really enjoy their breadsticks. They're thin enough for a nice crisp when you bite in but also thick enough to have some chewiness to it. We got a 16" for 3 people, and it came with a free order of breadsticks (free breadsticks for 14" or larger pie). We also tried their fried mushrooms, and it hit the spot. It wasn't anything fancy schmancy, but it was just what I was looking for. Great spot if you're just looking for a simple, pizza in a nice, casual atmosphere.
