We had Little Mexico catering for our event at UA College of Medicine. Everything was prepared on time, neatly packaged, and helped us load it into the car. The food was DELICIOUS!! Huge hit for our event. And the prices were great... We ordered everything a la carte. needless to say, we will be using them in the future for events or just for meal! Highly recommend the Chilaquilas. :-)

I will have to agree with most of the people who have already reviewed this restaurant. The food is okay but not that great. The service is neither good nor bad. The portion sizes are slightly below par compared to other Mexican restaurants in Southern Arizona. The best part about eating here was the cream cheese and tomato dip you get with the chips. Prices were pretty fair. There is nothing exceptional nor terrible to say about this place.

We chose to go here one night after seeing their float in the parade. It is in need in some general maintenance repairs. We waited about 10 minutes before someone came up to seat us. Once we were seated, the service was good, food came out quick. We got a variety of items from the menu. The rice and beans were really good, but didn't care for much else.

Solid everything. Food was tasty, but not out-of-this-world. Prices are average. Service is friendly.

They are always super friendly, food comes out fast and doesn't disappoint. Creamy salsa (mexican Ranch) is very good, the toritllas are not bad, but not the best. Good kids menu options, great pricing and authentic food overall.

My chimichanga was good and so was the refried beans. Got it enchilada style and the red chili was spectacular! Comparable to New Mexican red chili in Santa Fe. However the rice was so so and the salsa not all that great. The texture was that of mealy tomatoes. Guadalajara grill has much better salsa. We ordered this for lunch so I did not get to see the restaurant. Seems like everyone loves the chimichanga so must be the best on the menu. It was good, the chicken was all white meat and tasty, only 3 stars because of the salsa.

Delicious food. But I have others have said the very best part of Little Mexico is the creamy salsa. It is addictive! And don't miss out on the cinnamon tea. It is delicious too.

Good food, bad bad service. Went for breakfast with the fam. Everything we ordered was overall good. Good chorizo, good tamales. They even did ok cooking the eggs over medium, which is sometimes hit n miss. Service needs work badly. The waitress forgot some pretty importany parts of our meal and when we asked about it there was no kind of apology or urgency. In fact she left our table after I told her and took orders at 2 other tables without getting the rest of our food. We sat there just looking at our food getting cold. She actually did this a few times. I finally had to get up myself and walk to the front kitchen window and get our stuff myself.... seriously. Once we got the rest of our food we were finally able to start eating. It's really sad because the food was actually really good but that service left an awful taste in our mouth. I have never had to get up myself and get my food at a restaurant. Probably won't be going back.

I've been coming here for years, as I have a few friends that swear by the place and won't go anywhere else. The service last time was distressingly snail-paced, especially since we had a young child with us who was becoming curious about the decor. My tamales were a dichotomy. The green one was tender and lovely, and the red one dry and inedible. The carne asada burrito is gigantic, but bland. The margaritas looked like green Kool-ade, and weren't even flash blended. Meh, I'd keep heading south next time.

Decent Mexican food but not really anything to brag about. Decent prices, full bar and a nice casual spot to grab breakfast, lunch or dinner.

A total hole in the wall... but there is a line here so you know that it's legit. I haven't had such good and cheap Mexican food in a while. Yeah.. I know, Boston's Anna's Taqueria has nothing on this spot. So I thought the carne asada was terrific. The guacamole wasn't bad either.. but the carne asada was fantastic. I can not comment on the other food. Plus, I came back asking for the receipt about a half month later.. and they were able to make one for me and fax it. Best customer service ever.

Little Mexico's namesake just does not live up to the standard in this area of Tucson. With so many selections of restaurants serving delicious, homegrown Mexican food, the restaurant needs to step it up a bit. The downfall on this visit: The too stale chips and bland refried beans were among them. And chicken wings?! Interesting addition - though they were actually pretty good. So, what does Little Mexico have going on? The service is good and the portions are insane here! My plate alone - three fish tacos with a side of beans and rice - could have been shared with at least one other person. Maybe two. No lie! And the nachos my friend ordered were massive. Stacked high in a deep plate teeming with cheeses and grilled meat. But so strange: There were the smallest dollops of sour cream and guacamole for this colossal stack of nachos! One other weird thing: The fish tacos were pretty tasty. But when I ordered them I asked the server what type of fish the chef was using. She literally said, "I don't know. It's fish." *sigh*...goodness people.

Tucked away in a strip mall is a decent spot for lunch. I had the 2 chicken tacos, beans and rice lunch combo for 7.99. The chicken was all white breast meat that was in cut in chunks vs. shredded. It was nice and lean with a refreshing citrus flavor. It was also served with two fresh, not woody, lime wedges. The beans were very tasty. The chips came with a good red salsa and a sour cream salsa blend, that I wish I ate more of, as it was pretty unique. My co-workers loved the birria, the chimi and they both loved the cinnamon iced tea. But you need to specify that you want cinnamon tea. I was not lucky enough to try the tea, no caffeine for my growing fetus.

Very good!! I had the red chile lunch special with beans, rice and tortilla. The red chile had great flavor with very tender meat. I would have liked it spicier but that's just me. Beans are super awesome, nice and creamy just the way I like them. Hubby got the red tamale, shredded beef taco and enchilada combo and he loved it all. Chips are good and one hot sauce/salsa is nice and spicy but we didn't care for the creamy one as it had no flavor or spice except for cream cheese or sour cream base. I wish they offered a pico or chunkier style salsa or even a tomatillo based salsa. Anyway, this was our first visit to Little Mexico and it won't be our last! Muy bueno!!

Came in for breakfast and ordered the $3.50 breakfast special (M-F only. Eggs, Hash-browns or Beans, Tortilla or Toast and Horchata or Cinnamon Iced Tea). It was really delicious and satisfying. It was probably the best breakfast I have had in years. The service was great and the place felt really clean. I would recommend this breakfast to anyone. It was really that good.

This was honestly one of the most satisfying Mexican meals that I've had in a long time. First thing's first, while I'd argue that this place has plenty of atmosphere, it is most definitely not for individuals who are put off by meager decor. Then again, if you're in South Tucson for Mexican food, then design is probably low on your list of priorities. They have all the Mexican food standards here, but I went for the machaca burrito with the standard beans and rice sides. The burrito was enormous, but I managed finish everything on my plate because I simply could not stop eating it. Perhaps I'm just the archetypal fat American, but the food was seriously good. I'm not familiar with Mexican food preparation, so I'll have to speak in general terms, but the meat in the burrito was juicy, spicy, and packed with flavor, and the beans and rice were solid additions. The requisite chips and salsa here are quite delicious as well. Most plates are priced below $10, so you get quite a good value, too. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the market from some classic Mexican.

Been in many times, and still haven't found something that I didn't like. Good classic savory Mexican food. Lucky for me it's close to work, so I can get in a more often. Staff is always very friendly, and if timed just before noon (11:30ish) you can always get a table with minimal wait. But the food is always worth the wait. Chicken enchiladas might be my current favorite........ that is until next week........ Bahama, always somethign different to try.

This place is great for lunch or dinner. Service is fast and your food comes out within 10-15 minutes of ordering it. I have yet to wait for a refill on chips or my drink. The server always has a new one ready for me. Food is pretty standard fair, nothing outstanding. Their guacamole is wonderful because it's fresh made when you order. I tend to stick to a cheese enchilada and shredded beef taco when I go here, and you really can't go wrong. The best feature is their creamy salsa...spicy red salsa mixed in with sour cream. It's delicious! And super cheap!

WHen ever I am back home in Tucson I always make at least one trip to Little Mexico eventhough it is completely across town from my family it is always worththe trip. Tucson, without a doubt, has the best authentic Mexico food! Little Mexico is a great casual laid back family style Mexican restaurant. It is not a special ocassion restaurant more of a place to go for lunch or casual dinner. Prices are super! I have a friend who works nearby this place so we meet for the lunch specials. A whole lotta good food for NOT a whole lotta money. Living in Los Angeles I am not able to find the Tucson traditional "Cheese Crisp" anywhere there. So when I come to Tucson I must have one at least every couple days. Little Mexicos cheese crisp is as yummy as they come! They bring a nice selections of salsa & chips as well! Little Mexico is really worth a try!

Had dinner while in town for business. Ordered the #17, Little Mexico Special. Overall, very good with great flavor. The shredded beef tamale was very good as was the shredded beef taco. The cheese enchilada was good. The chili relleno was just okay, a little bland and somewhat greasy. It was the only part that wasn't on par with the rest of the dinner. The salsa was absolutely great. A very neat place that had a range of customers from couples to families. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area. I'll add this to my list of great Mexican restaurants when traveling. I'll be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
