This is tied for first when it comes to the best Mexican food I've ever eatin. This place truly kills it, they have the entire package. I mean Bill Clinton came here!! nuff said. But all chest thumping aside Parilla has the best portions, taste and plate presentations hands down. The portions of the food are incredibly huge and come with so much flavor. Now I lived in Tucson for nearly 20 years and for whatever reason I came far fewer times than I would have liked. I'm still kicking my ass right now. The staff has always been attentive and constantly came by filling up water and seeing if we needed more complimentary chips and salsa. My wife and I ordered the Alambre tacos also known as a number 48 and holy hell are they good. I mean these things are so good that I constantly try to find duplicates and fall short every time. They are similar to Carne Asada tacos but diced up real small and comes with perfectly cooked bacon, peppers and onions....yum. The rice, beans, beef, chicken, you name it they put it on a throne. I'll be back the minute I get back in town.

Decided to stop at La Parilla Suiza for lunch. I've never been to the one on Ina before. We ordered our drinks and were told that they were out of Diet Coke. That seemed sort of unusual. The chips and salsa were great. Especially, the salsa fresca. We ordered our food. Awhile after we ordered our waitress came back to our table and told us that the green corn tamale I had ordered (that was on the menu) was not available. They were out of it. I ordered something else. Everyone else's food came to the table. I got mine just as the others finished their lunch. I had mine boxed up to take with me. I checked in on foursquare and there was a deal that if you spend $10 at La Parilla Suiza, you get $5 off. Our waitress and the manager were not aware of this. The manager gave us the $5 off and $5 off for my late lunch. The staff just seemed either new or not very well informed. I will not go back there again.

No different than any other mexican restaurant. This place boasts Mexico City fares. Aside from slight differences in the rice and accouterments everything is the same.

My husband and I have enjoyed food here for years (and at the other one on Oracle). They have a large parking lot, located on the north side of Ina Rd, west of Thornydale. We had a very friendly and excellent server. After an effort to read the menu in the very subdued light, we ordered the very same thing, the #35 or 36, the popular Enchiladas Suizas, con pollo (I mean with chicken). Just practicing mi espanol. Whilte waiting, we feasted on their thin, yummy totilla chips with the 3-sauce condiment tray: 1) fresh cut up veggie salsa (kind of a pico de gallo?), a hot red salsa and a creamy green salsa. They are terrific. When I first started coming to this restaurant, I could not eat any of the salsas as they were too "hot" for me. Over time, I have conditioned myself. I love the green salsa, which is unlike any other salsa I've had. I love combining it with the pico de gallo on a chip, and then savoring it. I would advise the gringo tastebuds among us that you would not be able to handle any of the salsas too well. But I had to oink out carefully on the chips for diet purposes and to save room for the main event. We enjoyed our enchiladas, looking very festive and inviting on a square white plate, with lettuce, tomato, three enchiladas (you get a choice of a red or green enchilada sauce), some crema whatever you call it sauce on top of the sauce, and a side of either charro or refried beans. My refried beans were delicious. The main dish had very little heat for any paranoid gringo tastebuds. If not sure, ask for a taste sample of the enchilada sauce before you order. We had a yummy dining experience here and look forward to the next visit!

Yum! Everything was delicious and service was great! The chips and salsa were especially good as well as the refried charro beans. We are just passing through on the way to phoenix but if we could we would come back.

I've eaten here 3 times so far and they surpass my high expectations every single time. The food is always delectable. Served hot and the flavors are mouth watering. I've had the same waitress each time I've been here and although I don't remember her name, she is fantastic! Very friendly but not overwhelming. Atmosphere is very warm and inviting. Like I said, the food is delicious. The service is fantastic. It hasn't been crowded at all. Love this restaurant and I will absolutely continue eating here.

Love the chips and salsa!!! Food was wonderful but little pricey for lunch and the waiter never offered to show the lunch special.

Come here if you have family or friends from out-of-town so that they can have some Mariache music and some pretty good authentic Mexican food. Now if you are just wanting a burrito at lunch time, I would stick to a $8 burrito place, which you will find every few blocks in Tucson.

La Parrilla Suiza has several locations in Tucson and Phoenix. The Ina Road location in Tucson is my favorite because of the newer, cleaner atmosphere. Schedule your visit during their live mariachi band!

When I think about Mexican food in Tucson, I think La Parrilla Suiza. The food is excellent: Tortillas are warm and fresh; The meat is flavorful and moist; The beans, charro or refried... well, I could eat them every day. Today I had carne asada con enchilada. The meat was tender, with no need to throw in fancy spices. It spoke for itself! The enchilada was the kind of comfort food I was craving after a hectic week. The drinks are decent: Big house margarita for 6$ - Alright! I've had other drinks here and never been disappointed, especially for the price. Service is good: I've been coming for more than 10 years (including the Speedway location) and had questionable service maybe twice. When they get busy or later in the night, you might have to grab someone, but they are always polite. Atmosphere well..... At this location, I've noticed a rather, er... anesthetic smell when I come in. Not very appetizing. Otherwise, when you look around, you know you are in La Parrilla Suiza - Definite look and feel of its own. Overall, La Parrilla Suiza is comfortable. You know you are getting served good food and drink, and though the menu is updated occasionally, your favorites will be there waiting for your next visit!

My husband and I have actually been here a few times now, and we always enjoy our food. I, a creature of habit, usually go with the shredded beef chimi. DELICIOUS. I absolutely love the pico de gallo before dinner also. It is making me hungry just thinking about it! Highly recommend!

It was just ok. Nothing too great. The crown and coke I ordered was weak. They put limes in all their drinks I find hilarious. its like this place is on a mission to fight scurvy. The service dint really seem happy to see anyone. There's alot of Mexican food places in Tucson so I don't think I'll be back anytime soon.

I've noticed over the years, the price has gone up, & quality has gone down.. what a shame..

Charro beans were tastless. Enchilada sauce tasted canned. Margarita was weak. Staff indifferent. All this and a $36 bill. Don't bother. Very disappointing.

La Parrilla Suiza is synonymous with Mexican food in Tucson (a.k.a The Old Pueblo) and is one of my all time favorite places to break bread. I've been coming here since I was a kid. I have so many fond memories of sharing a meal with many a family and friend at all of the locations. Whenever I'm headed back to Az. This is always one of the first spots I hit. Mandatory! My favorites on the menu are the queso fundido con chorizo(melted cheese w/ chorizo), and the Parrillada de pollo (#37)(breast of chicken diced and sauteed w/ bacon, onions, and bell pepper served on a tableside grill w/ charro beans and fresh handmade tortillas). Those two dishes alone will keep me coming back for life. Although my order has generally stayed the same over the last several years the entire menu from tacos, to seafood enchiladas to you name it is delicious. Margaritas and cerveza's are served up quick and ice cold to wash everything down in those insane desert heatwaves that are all to frequent in the Old Pueblo. I can't wait to get back to the Old Pueblo so I can get me another dose of La Parrilla!!!

I visited yesterday for the first time. Perhaps since I am from another city my expectations were high, since I thought Tucson was known for great Mexican food. I ordered the parillada mixta, and also had a margarita. The margarita was average at best. The parillada mixta was frankly bad. The meat was tasteless. The tortillas were decent, and I didn't get sick from the food, so I gave it 2 stars. We were with a large party, so I looked around at the other dishes and wasn't impressed, nor did I hear any good comments from other folks in our party. Perhaps this place used to be better and has lost its glory. If management reads this, it's time to rethink your approach.

Had dinner last night in a party of eight. Service was good, food took a little time but that is to be expected on a Saturday night. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The chips and salsa were average and we thought our pitcher of cadillac margaritas were watered down. If the drinks had been better we would have given it five stars.

La Parrilla Suiza is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Tucson. The food and service is always great. They have a huge menu and everything I've had from it is excellent. My favorite is the bistek tacos. La Parrilla Suiza has several locations around town, but this one is my favorite because it isn't nearly as crowded as the other ones.

I used to love La Parilla until I realized the food sucks, the service can't keep up the with crowd and I'm tired of wasting my money. Harsh? Yes. I have been eating here for years and once they started to get busier everything went down hill. No me gusta. It's just not worth it, even for that big melted cheese appetizer. Too many bad experiences, not gonna waste my time man. Go eat in South Tucson instead.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
