Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Fast and friendly service. Great breakfast burritos. Clean place. The tortillas were fresh. The salsa was good to average. Nice place with an open kitchen and small eating area. Located in the corner of the strip mall.

Delicious! The tortillas are made the way tortillas are supposed to be made. Reminds me of making/eating them as a kid with my Nana and Tia. And their jalapeño tortillas add a great spice to the traditional flavor, while not being so spicy as to overpower the flavors of your food. They also have a whole wheat tortilla, but I've never tried it. Their green chile and egg breakfast burrito is great. Not a combination I'd tried before but now it has become my regular order. If you're not sure which meat sounds best, ask for a sample... they're always good about offering too. And if you're there when they have their fresh made empanadas, grab a bag! I had the pumpkin and it was SO much better than the ones I'd gotten use to eating at the University. Next time I'll be giving the pineapple a try. Extremely friendly staff/owners. I can't recommend La Mesa enough!

Some would call it a home in the wall, I call it the best hidden gem. With homemade flour tortillas, the best refried beans ever (no lard! no shortening), and the kindest and most entertaining chef/host, La Mesa is a local favorite. There are just a few tables- this is also a great place for lunch or dinner to go. Within our party we had the red chili combo, chicken tacos and regular quesadilla. All were fantastic!

We had breakfast here and it was delicious. My husband ordered a green chile beef burrito and loved it and I ordered the green chile burrito with egg and it was amazing. The service made our experience even better. We will definitely come back to this cute little restaurant!

Beans beans the magical fruit. I'm not usually a fan of beans because some of them are really good and some of them are just bloody awful. Most of the beans I have eaten are the latter, so I try to avoid beans whenever I go to a restaurant that offers rice and beans. At La Mesa, I will always be asking for both rice and beans. I don't know how they do it, but all of their food is just fantastically delicious! Their menu isn't that large, but it would take way more than that to knock it down a star. One of my coworkers eats there practically everyday for lunch not just because of the great food, but because the two employees running the shop treat him really good. They appreciate the service of each and every customer and get to know them well enough that some of the customers (like my coworker) will just order "the usual." I'm not that type of person though, so even though I've eaten at La Mesa several times, they will never know what I'm going to order next (just that I would never order the same meal twice in a row). The rice and beans at La Mesa are just simply out of this world. They taste so divine that you wonder how they make it that way. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being delicious, the rice and beans there are a 14. No that's not a typo. I really did mean 14. Yes I could go up a mile on Thornydale to get cheaper food at Taco Bell, but I'm choosing La Mesa over Taco Bell any time any day (as long as La Mesa is open).

Two words: Jalapeño Tortillas. Let that sink in for a moment. Tortillas... With a hint of jalapeño flavor. Floury yummy goodness, and close on the heels of that first delicious bite, the slight heat of jalapeño. That's brilliant, and dying to be turned into a quesadilla. Bought a package of those, and 1/2 dozen tomales... I'm excited to try them! Also, their tres leches cake is divine!

Went there @ 9:30 ordered breakfast burrito, Left @ 9:47 no burrito. After setting and waiting for 15 minutes the guy from behind the counter informed me it would be a little bit longer. I waited 2 minutes and left empty handed. I don't have the free time that they have I guess.

This is the first time I have been here and we will be going back. We came for the tortillas but we loved that they had food options. I want to go back and try the food because if it is even half as good as the tortillas it has to be amazing!!

The establishment is clean and the employees are friendly. The prices are affordable and well worth it. I am not sure what they do to their beans but I love them and I am usually not a fan. Their menu is not expansive but every single item is delicious. I came for tortillas and left with more than I bargained for. This place is great for a quick homemade lunch.

Yay! I've got my hands on my all-time favorite food. La Mesa has a new additional location. They have the best tortillas you can buy. They have an inexpensive menu of hot food along with their extensive menu of take home tortillas and tamales.
