I'll never understand vegans that go to diners and are upset the menu doesn't cater to them. The food here is good. Not great but its exactly what you expect from a diner. The service is always good, even when they are busy. The menu has American and Mexican food and I've never had anything I didn't like.

Now if you don't care about flavor and or health this is the place for you. This menu is not only a random mix of food but offers nothing to, vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free types of people. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito because it was the only think not smothered in meat and cheese and asked for it enchilada style. The cheese is that cheap powdery chemical cheese that McDonald's uses, and the beans are fer sure canned refried beans. Not only was my meal bland, boring, cheap it made me feel like shit afterwards. The atmosphere is mostly fat people that seem uneducated about life. I will never come here again and proudly make sure my friends and family never eat here.

A large 4 item breakfast for $3.99? Hell yes! Service was great, food was super quick. Popular with locals, may be busy! If you want fast good food and plenty of it, check it out!!

Chicken Fried Awesome!!! I love KG's. The Chicken fried steak is the best and they are one of the few restaurants left that can make GOOD hashbrowns. The prices are very reasonable and the staff treats us like family/close friends there.

We live in Green Valley and drive up every Sunday with friends for their GREAT BREAKFASTS. The staff is the best. Friendly and always with a smile on their faces, no matter how busy they are, with is all the time. This is one of those hidden treasures that you cannot stay away from. The hamburgers are awesome, but my favorite lunch is the tuna sandwich. Just love this restaurant.

A simple hello as you enter especially when there is a wait, would go a long way. Food is nothing i'd write home about, the service could make up for it, however it doesn't seem like this is at there core values for this restaurant.

Best place in town .. I love coming and having some good old family cooking . The service is great and the prices are really good for the amount of food served. Best breakfast in town !

Great service, great breakfast and the grits were cooked perfectly. The food came out super fast and a total team effort from the staff as well, which is rarely practiced today. Wish I was local!

Came to have breakfast with my nephew and instead of going to the basic standard breakfast place at ihop we found KGS west side cafe. A small mama pop cafe in a place you might not think a cafe would be. I got the eye opener it came with eggs bacon and sausage with French toast. The French toast was delicious and this place super affordable didn't like my bacon too much because it wasn't crunchy. The service was really friendly and respectful. I gave this place 5 stars not because this place was the best breakfast on earth but because it was a simple breakfast with great service thanks KGS I will be back

Good close to home diner with fresh food and good prices. We stopped this morning and got breakfast burritos, and enjoyed them - they were less than $5.00 and so filling that my husband and I each only ate half. Our bill was wrong, but it happens, and it was happily corrected. The waitress was friendly and we enjoyed good conversation with her.

We were trying to decide where to go for brunch on Saturday morning. My wife said "I have a coupon for KGs". That turned out to be a great decision. She had a club sandwich and I had a roast beef on rye. Excellent sandwich and the best coleslaw in the city of Tucson. I asked the waitress if she would bring a small bowl of menudo. She told me it was the best and wow she was right. The cleanest and tastiest menudo we have had in a long long time. We go to KGs 3-4 times a year and are never dissatisfied. Great food and prompt great service.

Good food, good prices, good service and nice atmosphere. Kids menu was on point. Would recommend chicken fried steak and chorizo burrito.

Good diner breakfast menu, and a surprisingly good burger for lunch! Gone back again and again!

KG's is the best breakfast place in town. I used to go to the east side one. When that one closed, I tried to find something similar. Well, after a dozen tries not one could compare. So, living at Houghton and Irvington, I now drive to the west side one and LOVE IT! My only issue is I wish I could go there more.

Solid comfort-food fare decently priced and in a friendly atmosphere. Nevermind the industrial, assuming storefront, they're just victims of circumstance with that.

This little cafe on the west side of town is pretty amazing! With a 4 star rating and with a one dollar mark this place has to be good! A Co-worker and I stopped in for a quick breakfast just the other day. It's one of those "please seat your self - type of diner". After finding the perfect spot to sit - our lovely waitress came over to great us and take our drink order. By the time she came back with our drinks we were ready to order our meal. I ordered the "Country Fried Steak Plate" which comes with two eggs, your choice of hash-brown or pancakes and a side of toast. Hungry and mouthwatering with anticipation my country fried steak arrives! The country fried steak smother in creamy white gravy had a nice little crunch to it (just the way I like it). Savoring every single bite, like it was my last meal (yeah I was hungry-_-). With-in minutes I had devour my whole plate! Let's just say I wasn't disappointing one bit! Definitely a place I would like to bring my friends and family for breakfast.

I have been coming here for a few months, and we come at least twice a month. I have had the breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich. Today I had an omelette which was alright. Overall, the food tastes pretty good. I have no real complaints. The first time we came here, it was so busy and so confusing. There is no real direction when it comes to whether you wait to be seated or you seat yourself. I bring my two year old son with me and he does well. The wait staff love him and always stop to admire him even though they're super busy.

Wow...$3.99 breakfast with eggs, sausage, and biscuits and gravy. Did I say it was $3.99! A local place I only found by yelp. A true locals dinner.

This is a great little place to have breakfast on a Sunday morning. There is nothing special about the interior except for the food and the staff. Service there is fast and friendly. There seems to always be servers flying around the room, so if you ever need anything, you can always flag one of them down. If you like taking your family to places like Denny's or IHOP for breakfast, I strongly encourage you bringing them here. The food is real and doesn't have the "fake" taste that I feel you get when going to a Denny's or IHOP. And because this place seems to be a well kept secret, there has never been a time where we've gone and we had to wait. I don't know about you, but when I go out for breakfast, I would much rather be seated right away than to sit a lobby full of people for 20-30 minutes to get a table because it's so busy. If you're looking for 17 variations of pancakes, this is not the place for you. However, if you want great tasting pancakes or french toast, this is the place for you. Their standard breakfasts (eggs, bacon, toast, etc...) are good too. They have some awesome breakfast skillets, breakfast burritos, and specialty pancakes and french toast. These seem to change on a daily basis. Which reminds me, always checkout their daily special menu. It's hard not to let you mouth water while reading it. Just as a closing thought, if you're looking for a gluten-free, fat free, paleo, south beach, no/low carb, vegan dish, I promise you that this is not the place for you. This is just plain good home cooking food.

This restaurant has really good food for reasonable prices. The daily specials are great deals and change daily! Service is rather poor, especially on a busy day. Despite the somewhat poor service and the time it takes you to get your food, this place is great!

KGs sits tucked away off Grant in a little non descript building and serves up some good home style cookin'. I've eater here maybe half a dozen times and enjoy it. I mean it's not spectacular and I am not raving over it but it's almost always a guaranteed good meal, huge portions. There are places I like a lot more in town for this kind of food in terms of quality of products and choice in selection. I like the biscuits and gravy here. Tasty. Gravy was a little too milky once, watery. But nice fluffy biscuits. Good amounts of eggs and the specials are worth nothing. I haven't been here for lunch but I think they're open later now, not sure? I did have a Chef Salad once and was impressed although some of the products kind of tasted like they were almost from a can. Service is always quick and courteous. Good prices. Can be very busy here at times, which is a great sign! Lots of families come in.

This place is not fancy but the food tastes pretty good, the portions a huge and the price is right at $4 to $8 depending on which plate of food you order. The staff is nice and friendly. I like this place better than a Denny's or IHOP, it just feels more homey. Stop in and try it for a good breakfast.

Went for breakfast this morning. I had the egg, potato and cheese burrito and my husband had the chicken fried steak breakfast. More food than you can possibly eat. Tasty. I'd go back!

KG's is better than ever with a new menu off the press just two days ago. Spiffy! Best new addition: the freshly made Flour Tortillas sold for only $2.00 per dozen. Made right in KG's kitchen. Muy delicioso! Soft with a buttery like goodness that is so good, all they need is to be warmed and served.

You would think a neighborhood dive would be tasty, not in this case. The service was great. The food was far from the quality of service. We ordered eggs, hash browns, pancakes and sausage. The sausage links tasted like they were spoiled and he pancakes were sad. The toast was good. Not worth it.

I'm not a big breakfast guy but this place can do up breakfast as well as lunch. Typically my wife will order breakfast and I'll grab a lunch item, the patty melt is one of my favorites. Prompt service, polite servers. These folks know how to run a greasy spoon type restaurant.

  • Chris K.

The service wasn't very good. We were seated for 15 minutes before we got menus and were asked what we wanted you drink. My breakfast burrito was good. My son's chocolate chip pancakes had all of the chocolate chips in one spot. The price was good but I was disappointed with the service and the food.

KG's is not for food snobs or people who need to be greeted at the front door or people with special dietary needs, it is a place to meet and eat. There are great people that have worked there for years and know your name . Please, if you dont like family style places, go elsewhere and leave room for the people who love it! I can always find something to eat even while dieting. I do eat meat and that is why I come here. If i wanted glutton free or vegetarian I would go somewhere.

i thought everyone knew what an omelet is, but not the staff here! an omelet is scrambled eggs laid flat cook on both sides, then the ingredients put inside and then folded. here i got and egg pancake basically, with the ingredients cooked right in the egg. there is a name for this dish, but omelet it isnt!

As good as breakfast can get in Tucson! I LOVE KG's! They have everything from biscuits and gravy to chorizo & eggs for breakfast and specialty sandwiches and burgers for lunch with an extensive Mexican food menu as well. It's one of those "down home" type places with grumpy waitresses walking around carrying 7 plates of food down one arm and tossing them to you across the table. I eat at KG's when I can (I'm not a big breakfast eater)! The food is ALWAYS good, the portions feed 2 and the price is cheap!!! A must do breakfast joint!

We bought a coupon on Entertainment Deals for K.G's. I had been holding onto it for about 6 months, and it is literally right around the corner from my home. Well, we finally made it today and it did not disappoint. The pancakes were fluffy, the breakfast burrito was scrumptious and the regular breakfast, eggs and hashbrowns (done crispy!) were superb. This little known gem has a down home feel with happy wait staff and fair prices. This is a must do for our weekend breakfasts now!

For a local greasy spoon, this place is really good. It's our go-to place for a quick inexpensive full breakfast. The staff is always really friendly and prompt with our orders. It's not fancy or gourmet, but it's actually really good.

Went a few days later and got a daily special- chicken fingers, mashed potatoes, grilled veggies and a piece of chocolate cake. A most excellent lunch for around 8 bucks. It was almost like eating in my Mom's kitchen having a homemade lunch. Can't beat that!

Another place I miss in Tucson. Used to frequent KG's at least once a month. It's you typical cafe with good food & friendly staff. Definitely a place to check out & try.

I used my Yelp app to find an inexpensive place to go for lunch last minute on a weekday. I chose KG's based on its reviews and it did not disappoint. Starting off the service was fantastic. But the food was amazing! My husband and I both ordered specials, which were a mere $6.50 and came with a dessert. He had a burger, which he loved, with homemade onion rings (we BOTH loved!). I had a steak salad. I expected the steak not to be great because of the price, but this steak was SO flavorful, perfectly cooked medium-rare and tender. We finished with some homemade lemon cake that was like something my grandmother would make. We will definitely visit again!!!

Clean, clean, clean. Finally a clean place with a basic good breakfast! The staff was nice, not over the top at all. This was a down to earth place with good basic food. I will be going back. There are things on the menu I want to try now that I have found decent hash browns and a clean place.

Live nearby, and this is definitely our regular weekend breakfast joint, although i've also had their lunch items and they are equally tasty. Not a greasy spoon, but more like a friend's kitchen. Delicious huevos rancheros, menudo, and regular eggs and bacon breakfasts. easy on the wallet, too.

The breakfast burritos rock. The only issue I had was that the takeout takes a long time - around 20 minutes or longer to get your food on a weekday. The servers are always extremely busy, making coffee, grabbing your order, filling condiments, and ringing you up. To be honest, as I was waiting for my breakfast burrito, I was a little bothered by the sanitation. Overall, the place reminds me of camp, but I was kinda grossed out by some of the condiments' condition in the fridge and wish that there was more hand washing going on. It's a good solid place for the west side though! Lots of people hanging out reading the news with a cup of coffee.
