Such a good place to get Indian food. The chicken tikka masala is to die for with a plain naan. The service is great and they're all friendly!

It is a divey, hole in the wall, near the university. Consequently, don't go in for the ambiance or in hopes of some transcendental experience. But if you need dependable Indian food kinda fast with flavor- this joint will do. I usually get their yummy Saag Paneer or Baigan Bharta so I can't address the problem some other reviewers have had with their meat dishes.

Love this place, the food is always great! The chicken Korma, tikka masala, Daal and the naan are all amazing. Portions are generous. I rate the food 5, parking can be a little tricky since its off street parking.
(4)Cadence C.
I got a chicken makhani and chicken tikka masala (the safe bets) to go. It took about 15-20 minutes during dinner rush. 1. pick you entree chicken 8.50 lamb 9.50 shrimp 9.50 veggie 8.25 goat 10.99 paneer (cheese) 8.50 Pick your sauce tikka masala biryani curry saag korma balti vindaloo pasanda chili makhani there are chef's specials and kababs, mango lassi, veggie samosas, etc I would like to try at a later. The chicken tikka masala was a bit spicy but I loved it. Comes with rice. Chicken makhani... I had better, but it was still pretty good. I think the total bill after taxes was 18 something. Interior is pretty posh if you care about that. Its a good place to chill after evening lecture. I'd go again.

I've been going here for over six years now. It's gone through changes over the years but almost every time I go I can count on the kitchen to cook up a piping hot container of CTM and fluffy delicious naan. I always order extra extra spicy and the cooks are great at kicking the heat up when you ask them to. I've had rolls and other dishes which are also great, but my favorite by far is the chicken tikka masala.

This places is so amazing!!! The food is so delicious! And the owner is so nice and has amazing off menu recommendation if you ask!!!

A Fellow Diner's Guide To Kababeque Indian Grill: 1. "Mild" is no-sweat gentle (usually) 2. "Medium" is red-faced-with-sweat-on-the-upper-lip spicy (usually) 3. "Spicy" is need-to-gulp-down-two-glasses-of-milk flaming (usually) Kababeque has reliable, solid Indian food so long as there is an understanding of this loose code. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Saag are both especially satisfying while accompanied by a fluffy plain naan (nix the garlic naan). And dining in at Kababeque is fine, but it's nothing special since the location is mostly designed for carry out.
(4)Anand V.
If you're looking for fast indian food that is fairly serviceable considering the portion and the price, Kababeque certainly isn't a bad option.
(4)Michael C.
Suffice it to say that I have fantasies about eating at this place that make my girlfriend jealous. I live four hours away but still consider driving here for lunch. The best Indian food I have ever had. The lamb korma and chicken tikka masala (medium spice) are both to die for. The shrimp curry was good and might be the best dish at another establishment, but didn't live up to the exquisite delight of the previous dishes in our opinion. The decor is nice but out of place--perhaps a previous frozen yogurt or smoothie shop? But who cares, the food is what you go for. We ate there twice. The first time the service was excellent and the recommendations for what to try were perfect (the owner, perhaps?). The second time the service was fine but the cashier didn't have any knowledge of the food. Now who do I have to bribe and/or perform unspeakable acts on to get a location opened in Las Cruces?
(5)NoraZoe W.
Went last night, though my husband and I have been fairly regular customers for years. I love the shrimp korma, medium, with an order of garlic naan. Husband gets chicken curry. Last night, there were 6 in our party--a little large of a group for this place, but they still met our needs, exceeding many expectations. Medium is hot enough for me, and can I just say the Indian rice is fantastic? It really is.
(4)Prusha S.
I been coming here for years. The food hasn't changed. Is perfect and hope it never changes. They did some remodeling. Is totally new and modern. Must try.
(5)Darrien M.
Over the past few years, Kababeque has really become a tasty regular in my diet. After you taste the tikka masala, you will understand why the restaurant deserves 5 stars. Tikka Masala- To die for. A must try. Balti- A less creamy and less tasty tikka masala with more vegetables. Curry- Very delicious. A close second favorite with first being the tikka of course. I really enjoy the vegetables used in the dishes like the balti. Particularly, I appreciate the delicious chunks of green pepper they throw in. Also, their naan is pretty delicious (especially the garlic and the jalapeno)! However, I personally think it should come free with the meal. Overall, this place is amazing. If you didn't catch on by now: Get the tikka masala.
(5)Allison M.
Have the chicken curry, its awesome! Medium spice is just right!
(4)Celestina D.
The changes they made during the renovation made a BIG difference. The atmosphere is so much more welcoming and open. Service is okay, could be a little bit friendlier aside from the owner who always seems to have a positive attitude. As far as food, get the chicken tikka masala!! It is literally to die for. Will be back!
(4)Jackie S.
Someone described the tikka masala tasting like spicy ketchup. I guess I never thought of it like that but I guess I'm not really opposed to the "spicy ketchup" taste hahaha. I LOVE order the tikka masala as hot as they can make it! I give it four stars because the prices are wee high - with an entree and nann, you're looking to spend at least $11.00 before the tip. The staff is OK. Generally, they haven't been too rude to me and I'm alright with that. The new renovation is a little nicer but they need to STOP serving their food in Styrofoam boxes! It's tacky!
(4)Michael K.
Kababeque was the first place we gave Indian food a shot, and we got hooked, exploring and trying more and more places. A big part of what hooked us was the quality of the food, and we would not have given it an opportunity unless we had tasted the home made food of one of the previous owners who also ran the store, from register to ensuring that the cooks knew what they were doing. Well, he has since left the place, and the quality has taken a freefall. Coming back to Tucson, we were ecstatic that Kababeque would be something that would be regularly back into our weekly menu, but the chicken tikka masala seems to be watered down and drained of any flavor. The chicken doesn't taste as fresh as I recall either, and the na'an was burned and relatively flat, instead of being well-cooked and fluffy. The chicken tikka kabob was good, and that is what prevented me from giving them a 2-star rating.
(3)Annie H.
Kababeque has never been disappointing but it also isn't a place to go for authenticity or amazing food quality. The best thing about the place is the convenience due to the location and the fact that they have delivery. Delivery does incur a fee but that is negligible as they often come faster than most places excluding Jimmy John's. The food is good and is flavorful but not to the extent of most other indian restaurants since they have to appeal to the masses. The option to change the spiciness is nice but the levels are not indicative of actual flaming indian food. They do have meat in most of their dishes and lamb is extra. The Vindoloo is probably my go to option because it contains potatoes and is slightly tart. The portions are slightly small for the price. If you get something to go or for delivery the containers are really nice and reusable which makes up for the extra money I suppose. Kababeque is a good fast option if you are on campus and not really craving anything else or if it's a rainy day and you live near campus. They do have seating if you just want to sit down and catch up with someone but it is limited. It's a place that is there but not particularly special.
(3)Cristina R.
This place is the best!! I just discovered it, can't believe how many times I walked past it and thought it was some greasy nasty kebab place but oh was I wrong! The smell of curry lured me in and I ordered to go, the garlic naan is gorgeous and the curry too!!
(5)Brianna M.
I got food poisoning from this restaurant. I was sick for 2 straight days. Be warned.
(1)Brianna T.
. I fell in love with a few Chicken Tikka Masala in Berkeley and found something that can compete!?! I love this place. I usually get chicken tikka masala with a plain na'an and strawberry and mango drink (I don't think it's lassi).
(4)Marina M.
I really like this place. Owned by the same people that own Saffron, and I love Saffron! But, alas, Saffron is a long drive from my place and this is a fine substitute. I like that that their tika masala is a bit more "tomato-ey" than other sauces. And you can't go wrong with their naan. I am a fan of their Q rolls which is basically thin naan with yummy Indian food goodness inside. Think "Indian taco." You get a huge bang for your buck with these Q rolls. A very filling meal and last time I got it on special for super cheap. It's close to the University, making this a great central Tucson Indian food option. This is a more low-key place (in terms of environment as well as the food) making it a great student option.
(4)Luanne S.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! I hate driving to University because of parking and how busy it is down there but this place is worth all the effort. It's definitely my favorite Indian restaurant in town. My favorite has to be the Lamb biryani. I constantly crave food from this place. The staff are nice and the place is clean. I love watching the music videos that they play on their Tvs.
(5)J T.
I've spent way too much money here, but it's like crack. The food is delicious with generous portions. My favorites are the chicken tikka masala and the chicken balti. I get everything made as spicy as possible. The naan is kind of overpriced, but they are fairly large. I've tried almost everything on the menu, and you can't go wrong. Online ordering is icing on the cake, wish more restaurants would enter this day and age.
(5)Aj J.
If you love it spicy... I'd go here. I only go and get it as spicy as possible and I feel like I'm in a sauna the whole time I'm eating it!
(4)Jonna Z.
Three words. Chicken tikka masala. Okay, two more. Garlic naan. That's all you need to know. I've been going to kababeque for about four years now, and was so upset when I started working at a building off campus and couldn't walk there for lunch anymore! Alas, my lunchtime woes ended when kababeque started delivering to the 6th and drachman area. So when I carpooled with my husband and was left carless, I could fret no more and once again have tikka masala at least once or twice a week! Now if they only served Coke products....
(5)Abby N.
My favorite Indian food out there! It's also extremely convenient that it is so close to campus. Great food, friendly staff, and quick service! Definitely a treat :)
(5)Rosie C.
I absolutely love Kababeque. The Pasanda is my favorite dish. It never disappoints. The Tika. Masala is great as well and you have to try the Garlic naan. My family and I have Kabarbeque at least once a month either take home or eat in the newly remodeled dinning area. This is the best Indian food in Tucson. You have to try it. Lrc
(5)L. K.
I'm no connoisseur of Indian food but this place always delivers awesome flavor - and I second the spiciness rankings, mild is spicy! Also, tikka masala. That is all.
(4)Nigel M.
I have been here a few times while up on university and the lamb was always chewy...today I had the chicken balti which was actually pretty good and the wife had the chicken curry and a naan bread which wad real good I never chanced the lamb this time but I'm sure its the same ....mutton in a pressure cooker.....but all in all todays visit was pretty good curry and good naan bread that's why it gets a 4 star today
(4)Mark S.
The restaurant has 44 indoor seats and they do have outside seating. I ordered the lamb kabab with rice, salad and garlic naan. Overall I wasn't impressed with the kabab. Not very flavorful compared to what I had before in Indian food. The garlic naan had great flavor and taste. Plus, it took a lot longer to get my meal compared to those who sat with me who got there meals before me.
(2)Michael M.
My roommate and I tried this place yesterday. One word, amazing. We ordered our food togo so we could eat it in front of the t.v haha. I got the chicken and curry which came with rice. The food was spicy and delicious. I also tried the garlic niam bread which was mouthwatering and hot even though I took it home togo amd waited a while before eating it. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to try some quick Indian food along university.
(4)Anna W.
Everything I've ever eaten here has been fabulous. (today I had the Tikka Masala.) But the reason I decided to write a review today is because I was there for lunch, and a man who looked to be the manager was super helpful and nice. I'm not too familiar with the different sauces they have there, but when I went to the condiments area to get a fork, he suggested I try the sauces. When I told him I'd never had them before, he patiently explained what was in them and what they go well with. No big deal, but just that little gesture really made me feel like I was welcome in the restaurant! Since the food also never disappoints, I totally recommend this place.
(5)Chris W.
This place is just awesome. When they first opened, their name and University Blvd location concerned me. Was this just some goofy doomed-to-fail new joint? No way, man. They are here to stay. Their food is just F'n rad! Every dish I've had there over the years has been brilliant. Really, their stuff tastes like a MENSA master chef from the East recreated long lost family recipes while, in the meantime, winning a Nobel prize for just doing *everything* right.
(5)May P.
Their medium spiced curry is super spicy -- you're warned! I had their lamb curry here. The first time I ordered it, I asked how spicy is spicy? The cashier said, it is spicy. He then said, if you like a little spicy, medium will be fine. So I took his advice since I do like some heat. I took this order to-go because the place was pretty full (it must be a great place, then right?). When I got home and took my first bite, WOAH; my mouth was on fire!!! Two full glass of water couldn't wash down the spice from 2 bites. I didn't even finish it. Then, like a year later, I decided to try this again because I was craving some Nan, Indian flat bread. This time, I decide to try the lamb curry again but with MILD spice. I asked the cashier, who is the owner, if it was spicy or not. I told him about my experience last time and he said, the mild spice only has a hint of spiciness to it. It would be better. So I trusted him. I waited and waited...for about half an hour. I saw the people behind me got their food and I was thinking, did they forget about me...? The owner saw me just sitting there and asked his staff what happened. Apparently, they gave away my order to some drunk guys that didn't order any food and I was not happy. However, the owner told his staff to get my order down right away and they delivered it to my table and apologized. Anyway, I tried the curry again and it wasn't spicy; it was tolerable. I don't know if Indian people have a higher tolerance for spicy food or not, but it was some what spicier than what I have expected. So if you can't tolerate it at all, I highly don't recommend it unless I guess you specify NO SPICE; I'm not sure. Their NAN was yummy; the order comes in two big pieces and there are different flavors like garlic. I just ordered the plain ones. I guess it toned down the curry. The curry comes in little to-go boxes where half of it has rice and half of it was the curry lamb. I totally wish their lamb could've been more tender and not so tough; that would've been better. So overall, this place is a "meh" to me. I would prefer other Indian Restaurants.
(2)Mark A.
I love love love the lamb wrap!!! I eat here as often as I can, the staff can be hit or miss on service though. The guys are usually pretty on top of things the girls seem to be more worried about their nails. The tables outside could use some attention and they could clean up the hallway to the bathroom. It sounds like I am bitching but I am not. I love the food and will go there no matter what. After spending time in India this place is a palace.
(4)Adam L.
Quite frankly, Kababeque is amazing. Phil is the man and always brings his A-game in the kitchen. He's got the tikka marsala to make yo eyes water, pasanda that's hotter than Jane Fonda, and I can go on and on about his garlic naan. A lot of people are turned off by Indian cuisine, or think they wont like it before even trying it, but I promise after one bite you'll be hooked. Just ask for Phil and he'll hook you up!
(5)Naweed S.
I'm giving this place 5 stars because it has gotten a lot better over the years. Just a couple of years ago, I'd have given this place a 2 star rating because it was pretty horrid. The meat was dry and overcooked, the sauces didn't taste like anything and the service was pretty crappy. Now, the meats are soft and tender, the sauces taste how they're supposed to taste and the service is much better. Recently, I got the chicken korma and garlic naan. I usually get the spicy because my palate likes to eat spicy foods. Well, it tasted pretty darn good. I could really taste some of the actual spices used, such as the cumin. The chicken was soft and tender, not dry. They give you fair proportions for what you pay for. Also, remember that the spices they use to cook with isn't exactly cheap. It came with basmati rice, which wasn't the best basmati rice I've had, but the korma flavor definitely makes it better. The naan, this is a must buy with every purchase. I prefer the garlic naan because I'm a garlic enthusiast. I add garlic to EVERYTHING. The naan was hot and fresh. Given that the corners were a little burned, but I just tore those pieces off. All in all, good Indian food for a decent price. I'm definitely coming back here when I don't feel like cooking and wanting Indian food.
(5)Kalyn W.
This was a really nice find, close to the Centennial Hall. It could be my new "go to" place before a show there. After reading the reviews we shared the Chicken Tikka and Garlic Naan and added a side of Yogurt Cucumbers. We ate outside on the patio and watched the people go by. The food was REALLY good, we were relaxed, had good conversation and a great time. When you are looking for good Indian Food near the University, stop in. I might go back JUST for the Naan.
(3)Rich Y.
Quick and friendly service with a decent menu. It seems to be a little expensive for the amount of food you get. Quality is excellent.
(4)Isabella J.
How have I missed this place? I can't speak to the service because I picked up dinner and took it home, and this little place sure surprised me! Kababeque is owned by the same family that runs Saffron Indian Bistro. This location is much smaller with only about 4 tables and large community table inside, but there's plenty of seating out on the patio. For $11 I'd say it was fairly priced. I ordered Chicken Curry to go with a side of naan bread and it was plenty of food. I ordered medium spice and could've probably taken it up a notch, but the meal was flavorful and satisfying, also served with a massive side of basmati and they did not skimp on the chicken. I regretted not taking a few sauces with me from their little sauce bar, but I was starved and just wanted to get home. Next, I plan on dining in and hitting up the sauce bar to see what it's all about.
(4)DL F.
Stopped in for lunch with intentions of eating at Chipotle. Glad I did. Food was very good (chicken tikka and garlic naan) and reasonably priced (although naan was $3 and I couldn't even eat 1/2). Service was very pleasant and man at register was super nice and friendly. I read the reviews about the styrofoam and it didn't strike me while I was eating as weird but now that you mention it... I would certainly go back again if I was I was in the area.
(5)Christina D.
I am giving this place 5 stars for what it is, fast, delicious, well portioned and fairly priced Indian cuisine. I say fairly priced, because for my husband and I, one order is big enough to feed the both of us, so we just share. I saw a quick tip that someone wrote about the Naan being a tortilla... It's definitely Naan, and it is fantastic. So make sure to order it! I recommend the garlic naan. I have had spicy lamb curry, and spicy chicken korma from here. Both of which definitely satisfied my flavor palette. By the way, I am going to reaffirm the other reviews. Spicy is spicy here. They do not mess around. I had a napkin to my nose during the whole meal. The meals I got were also temperature hot, and stayed piping hot. So watch out for that and don't burn yourself! All in all, I am really happy there is an Indian joint designed for people on the go in Tucson especially since the food here has not disappointed yet.
(5)Walter H.
The inside of the establishment doesn't look very atractive but taste of food is excellent. Try the chicken korma and the sampler kabab (chicken, haryali and lamb)
(4)Eric G.
I was pleasantly surprised with this little eatery on University! Stopped in a little before the lunch rush and found myself first in line for ordering. I had the Shahi Kofta while the wife had the chicken Biryani. Both were well made and quite delicious. Both were spiced to "medium", which was adequate for a lunch. Quite spicy but not over the top by any means. Truly a delicious option if looking for some Indian food near campus. Decor certainly felt Indian more than like an American restaurant that serves Indian. By this I mean it felt like somewhere you might find along a street in Delhi (think how a pizza parlor in NYC feels if you know what I mean). Ballywood on the tv, little booths done in a decidedly fun way, ... . Still, it appeared that most of the customers came to order and pickup. Glad I spent the time eating there, watching the wonderful tv show. Just fun! The only real downside, and frankly, it didn't bother me in the slightest, was that it took a bit of time for the food to come out. Whatever, I'm willing to wait if the food is excellent. And excellent it was!
(4)Jessica L.
This place is great when it's cold out (yeah I only go during fall and winter) since it definitely warms you up. I always get the same thing, the chicken curry in either mild or medium. The spiciness varies, which is weird. I've had mild that has made me sweat and mediums that I could eat without water. I never get my own naan but I will occasionally steal some of my friends' potato naan. I don't know anything about Indian food so I can't tell you if it's good in terms of that, all I know is that sometimes I just want it. The Bollywood videos are also entertaining while we wait for our food. The owner is kind of scary but he's never really been rude. Also, if you're a student, be sure to bring your catcard. You usually get something like a little drink.
(4)Cassie P.
I love this place for a take home or quick bite with friends. I also really like the Bollywood videos they show on the television. It has my vote. The food is also good and the staff is pleasant. Although you have to be careful about those containers they use for the food (they tend to spill).
(4)Carianne C.
I ordered chicken tikka masala, potato naan, a small salad, and an ice tea for lunch. It was $19 (before tip!) and served to me in styrofoam (even though I was eating in). The salad was inedible - shredded iceberg lettuce, 2 tomato slices, and a green pepper. The tikka masala sauce tasted like ketchup with hot sauce. The naan was strange and greasy. Pictures will be posted. I will never come back.

Very good. I've had a really bad experience with Indian food, in another state, at a completely different restaurant. That was enough for me to avoid it the best I could for at least 10 years. Every Saturday a group of us go to lunch somewhere, sometimes it's one of our old standbys, sometimes it's a brand new place. Our firefighter friend suggested Kababeque Indian Grill. I was scared, but I didn't want to be a party pooper. So, I went. It's a small restaurant on University. Seats probably 35 people indoors (there is also outside seating, I didn't count). I asked everyone what to get and they all had different recommendations. After some serious thought my fiance and I ordered kabobs because we figured, that's in their name, it's got to be good. What we ordered was the Sampler Kabab (medium for me), which is chicken, haryali and lamb kababs with lettuce & rice we also ordered one garlic naan. The rice. Oh my goodness the rice was outstanding! Very flavorful. I crave that even now writing this. Sorry for the tangent. The naan (which was similar to a piece of Indian bread at a county fair, if you've ever had that) came out first. Very tasty, seasonings galore. The meats in our kabobs were super flavorful and cooked such that they were so soft and tasty. Our other friends had the medium and mild chicken tikka masala, which I tasted and was blown away, so very good, not very hot. I wished I'd gotten that instead for all the flavors it had. By the end of our meal I had to take 1/2 of mine home, which I ate for dinner because it was so good. I would go back. The staff was pleasant (we chatted with the lady at the register about an awesome book she was reading). There were 5 of us and we sat comfortably in a booth, but a larger table sat on the other side of the room, could accommodate more. Now I want to try their other restaurant Saffron (no! not because my cat's named Saffron...). I would absolutely go back.
(5)C B.
A lot of different food options for a pretty cheap price. Tasty!
(4)Stephanie H.
Pretty good. Lots of food for the price. Dining partner got his food "hot" and was sweating from the spiciness. I got mine "mild" because I'm a wuss but it wasn't boring. We were very entertained by the Bollywood movie that was showing and adding our own narration to it. Staff was entertained by us doing that LOL.
(3)Frank N.
This place rocks. I'm NOT an Indian Food lover, before, back then, usedta-wasn't. Whatever. Wasn't excited about eating here either, BUT, I did and I'm GLAD. Their other location is the Saffron on N. Oracle, and they're both incredible. Sure beats just another Subway Sandwich by a mile and I'm signing on to the whole Indian Food thing...
(5)Valarie A.
The location is super convenient for students and the potato naan is delicious. It's a great alternative to the more hum-drum american style restaurants on university :)
(4)Grace T.
In the University area. You can sit outside or inside. The food was pretty good. Just dont use their delivery service. It took em more than 1 hr, and they dont bring change (at least the guy says he has none so it costed 14 for $26 of food).
(2)Rachel W.
I had been meaning to try this place for 2 years now, I love yummy Indian and Middle Eastern food - plus the menu online listed "Q" Rolls for $3.50 - can't beat that price! It's about noon on a Monday, the service at the counter was um, unresponsive to say the least. Basically I stood ignored for a few minutes. Awesome. Whatever. Not the end of the world. I also noticed the prices were higher in person - $3.75 for a roll. Ok. I order two rolls - the chicken Haryali and the Paneer. I'm asked if I want them mild, medium, or spicy. I say "medium" questioningly. No response. Ran my credit card. Total was over $9. Huh? I ask again nicely if their prices had changed from the menu posted at the cash register. The employee says no. When pressed further she finally states that if you order anything other than "mild" it's $.75 extra for each item! WTF. That is the LAMEST thing I have ever heard. And hello - that information would have been useful when I ordered! Ugh. I would have never ordered anything other than mild knowing this. And there was no response whatsoever to reimburse me, or even apologize in any way. Just poor service. The rolls themselves were small - you need two for a full lunch. The bread it was wrapped in is NOT naan, it's like a tortilla. They do serve naan, but it only comes with the entree dishes or ordered extra on the side. Both rolls, oddly enough, tasted EXACTLY the same. Obviously the consistency was different, but the "medium" spice dominated both rolls. Just BTW - the medium is pretty darn hot. Be warned. I highly doubt I would ever return here.

Maybe I'm spoiled from having so much authentic Indian food while traveling in Asia but I thought this place was horrible. Its just overpriced fast food. For the quality of the food at this establishment, you should be paying McDonald's prices; not the exuberant amount they charge here. I dined-in and payed around $8 for chicken tikka masala which was served in a styrofoam container at the cash register. If you like the Americanized Chinese food at Panda Express, then you might be okay eating Americanized Indian food here. Just expect to pay more than you would at Panda.
(1)Nicholas S.
I recommend this Place for anyone who wants to try Indian food. Great customer service and the main chef throws down on the food and so do his assistants...if your in Tucson or visiting he UofA, I say try it. You won't regret it.
(4)Sarah T.
I agree with the previous reviews that describe Kababeque as "underrated." When you're craving delicious ethnic food in a low-key environment on University, this is the place to go. Why stand in line for 20 minutes at Chipotle for the same burrito you had yesterday, when you can have tikka masala with lamb in 5-10 minutes while enjoying a crazy Bollywood movie? I love the lamb tikka masala. It's a generous portion with lots of lamb for an affordable price. "Spicy" means "spicy" at Kababeque... when I want to sweat, this place delivers. Do yourself a favor and order a cold drink in advance to save your mouth.

I'd give the food a solid 4/5. I've never had an issue with the taste or texture of anything, and I'd call it downright yummy. I've had slightly better, yes, but it's good. My problems: 1. Prices on the website have always been off. 2. The service. Not enough bad things to say. The first time I went in, I was ignored for about 20 minutes. The second time, I went to the register while the entire staff was sitting at the tables. After 15 minutes, I asked if I could order. A girl from the staff sighed, had a 5 minute conversation, then felt as if it would be worth her time to take my order. She never said a word to me, never handed me the receipt, and immediately sat back down. 45 minutes later, I got my food... after she remembered that it would be a good idea to tell the kitchen that I ordered. Good food, worst service in Tucson. Will not be returning.

Their food is great! Five stars for price, location, atmosphere, and of course the food.
(5)Angela S.
As a long time Kababeque fan, it pains me to give 4 stars here, but the last time I went the dishes were tweaked slightly and not to my liking. This isn't to say that the food isn't still great, it is just not what I crave from the past. Anyhow, Kababeque gives you quality Indian food fast and gives you a lot of food for your money. My friend and I often go here and order two dishes and garlic naan to split and we have always (even after some pretty long bike rides) gone home stuffed, occasionally with leftovers. The malai kofta is a personal favorite, particularly for the tangy yet creamy tomato sauce the veggie patties are in and the other vegetarian chef's specials are also delicious, each just has a unique flavor depending on the sauce and ingredients. Garlic naan is my personal favorite flavor - I tend to use it to scoop up some of the main dish I am having, so I tend to stay away from the more elaborate naans. Their mango lassis are super delicious - cool, refreshing, and actually make a great accompaniment to the meal (or dessert), so I recommend tagging that on to your order. The chefs here are super friendly and the atmosphere relaxed, stop in for some great food on University!
(4)Jmoney P.
I had the tikka masala and my date had korma. Both dishes can be very hot and were extremely good. The garlic nan is to die for. Will be coming back. I would recommend adding veggies as it adds a different layer of flavor . The chefs name is phil and his very friendly
(4)Amanda K.
i totally dig this place. I have not had a lot of good indian in tucson, and I think this is definitely one of the better places. The chicken saag is great, and then I had something else that was kind of a cross between chicken korma and tikka masala, and it was phenomenal! i only wish i remembered the name. the portion sizes are big, i do wish it was white meat chicken, but whatever, ive never encountered a gross piece of chicken (and i feel like that happens sometimes w/dark meat). the flavors are really good, and if you like a little bit of zing w/o too much spice ask for a combination between mild and medium.
(4)Max R.
We go here way too much. We've had almost every single thing on the menu. My girlfriend goes to the UofA and lives on campus so every time we need a filling, cheap meal, we head over to Kababeque. My girlfriend's favorites include the chana masala and the tikka masala. The mild is perfect for her since she isn't very good at handling spice. My favorites are the korma and the chili chicken. The service has always been good for us and we love how fast it comes out. We reccomend (and bring all of our friends to) this restaurant.
(5)Julia R.
When I was a grad student at UA, I stopped by often for their yummy Q Rolls. Lamb, sauce, and veggies stuffed in bread were cheap and good for eating on the go. Plus, they delivered to my office in the social sciences building! I only ate their "fancier" food once, and was fairly disappointed. For a full meal, I'd rather go hit any of the Indian lunch buffets in town. But for a quick alternative to anything at the student union, a Q roll wasn't a half bad lunch at all.
(3)John M.
Enjoy the food, but won't go back until they stop serving everything in STYROFOAM. I don't want the remnants of my 15' lunch to float around the Pacific whorl for the next several hundred years. Too bad, because I do like the menu.
(2)Abby D.
Love love love the chicken tikka masala and naan
(5)Evan S.
The staff working today were exceptionally helpful and friendly considering the million questions I had. Additionally, the cook, Philip, made my wife's korma to just the right degree of spiciness. Will be back for sure.
(5)R M.
In a word: inconsistent. I've stopped in 1-3 times a year for the past six years and never know what to expect - just that I shouldn't get my hopes up. It is nowhere near the quality of Shere-e-Punjab, Indian Oven, or Gandhi - but it's also practically on campus. Sometimes the rice is properly cooked, and sometimes the entree (I've only had vegetarian dishes) is pretty good. Sometimes the rice is under or overcooked, or the entree kind of bland and filled with whole spices and rough bay leaves, and I think I'd rather have eaten an uncooked "Kitchens of India" foil packet. Sometimes they screw them both up. That's when I don't visit again for a year or more. That said, my last meal (Veggie Pasanda) was one of the good ones.
(3)Kimberly R.
If I could give it no stars I would. The best part of my meal was the mint chutney. I ordered chicken briyani, medium. It was very HOT, and I had to send it back. The rice was mushy, and the chicken was dry at best. My husband ordered lamb curry: all heat - no flavor & dry rice. The naan was crunchy and also dry. To make matters even worse, they serve all meals - even dine in - in styrofoam containers. Terrible waste.

The owner is a total asshole, but that doesn't stop me from coming here about once a week. I always get the chicken tikka masala and it's always good. Indian food is the food I probably know the least about, but it's much better than other tikka masala I've had. They seem to have high turnover in front staff, which is probably to blame for the slow delivery that some others have complained about. It's probably also a result of the owner being an asshole. The kitchen staff has been pretty much the same though for the last four years, so at least the food's consistent. Some people say the prices are high, but the portion is huge. I always eat the tikka masala for dinner for two nights. This place is not fancy but the food is good, fast and reliable. It's my go to when I've had a long day at work and don't want to cook. Tips for Success at Kababeque- DON'T eat there: it's like 10,000 degrees inside, small and uncomfortable DO CALL ahead: food takes 10-15 to come out and I'm impatient DO take your food to go: again really hot and cramped inside DO NOT order delivery: to-go is much, much faster ASK FOR 'EXTRA' VEGGIES: tikka masala already has some veggies in, but with the extra is soooo good mmmm. Just beware if you ask for "half chicken, half veggie" (or half lamb, half veggie or whatever you flavor) they will give you less meat. The key here is "extra."
(4)Taylor H.
This is one of the underrated restaurants on university! I have come here several times and I have consistently gotten fast high quality indian food. The restaurant itself is underwhelming. They don't have very many tables and they tables they do have do not get cleaned off. The bollywood videos on the wall are fun but overall the restaurant caters to a take out crowd. I took my dad her and I got chicken tikki kabob (my usual) while he got chana masala. Both of us really enjoyed what we got and the price was more then reasonable. Overall I would recommend this as a good choice on university. Especially when it's compared with the other less inspired options.
(4)Kathy G.
Love the chicken tikka masala! Get the garlic naan, it's great! Naan is a little pricey, but good. Down sides are that delivery is slow, but if you go in and pick it up, works great every time! If you're a light eater, like me, chicken tikka masala, a little extra rice, and 2 garlic naan will be more than enough to take care of two people.
(4)Marie N.
Kababeque has turned me on to Indian food, especially the chicken Korma and garlic naan. The Korma is thick and savory, and the garlic naan always comes out hot and loaded with garlic. My husband has tried the tikka masala and said it was good, but since then has come back to the Korma as his favorite. Unlike a lot of restaurants, when you order spicy at Kababeque, they actually make it spicy. For you spicy lovers, extra spicy is delicious too! The mango lassi is delicious and will douse that fire in your mouth for a little while. The styrofoam doesn't bother me much since I usually can't finish my dish and it's already in a to-go container for me to take home. The cook and staff are very friendly, and are always willing to guide any newcomers through the menu and recommend a dish based on your preferences. Seating inside is pretty limited, but there are some tables outside you can sit at.
(5)Callie D.
Their delivery is quick and the food is always delicious. I haven't ever had an issue with the man on the phone. He is abrupt, but hasn't been rude to me yet. The food is definitely worth it.
(4)Frank M.
The food and service at Kababeque have been inconsistent and occasionally bizarre for some time. They went through a phase where the food was inedibly salty, which seems to have been corrected. On my most recent visit, our takeout order was wrong, which is not unusual, but when I called to let them know about the error they denied that the order was wrong, insisting that both Chicken Haryali and Chicken Tikka look identical and that both come with a "sweet" sauce on them. Never in the past has either dish had a sauce like this and the Haryali has always looked and tasted quite different from the Tikka. Nevertheless, the person who took my order became belligerent when I called to report the error and I ended up just hanging up on him since he was quite rude.
(2)Aaron S.
Good food, especially chicken tikka, good service.
(3)S. M.
The service was good, but the food was lack-luster and a little over priced for the quality. I would eat here again, but only if I needed something quick and close to UA. Also, the cook was hitting on my friend just a little too much- hovering and lingering around customers is unprofessional and a huge turn off!!
(2)Charlotte E.
Love Kababeque! My BFF and I go here all the time. We always share the chicken tikka masala, the veggie curry, and a plain or garlic naan. The portions are definitely sizable enough for us to share the two dishes with some to take home. I think the prices are very comparable with the other restaurants at Main Gate Square. The food has consistently great flavor every time. Even though Kababeque is more focused on quick service and takeout, the food is really beats some of the other Indian restaurants in town. The owners of Kababeque also own Saffron, a restaurant not to be missed. I like supporting this local business, and if you're a fan of Indian food, you will too.
(5)Veggie F.
This restaurant has one good thing going for it: location. That's it. Everything else is uniformly terrible (at least they're consistent). I've eaten here twice and regretted both times. Maybe their meat is good, I'm a vegetarian, so I wouldn't know. I've had their Aloo Roll, which is basically mashed potatoes in oily dough (even that description makes it sound better than it was). Boring and disgusting (or was it disgustingly boring? I can't remember exactly, just that I didn't like it). The second time I had one of their curries. It was, by far, the worst curry I've ever tasted in my life (and I've had my share). I love spice, to the point where I enjoy the pain, but this curry had so much black pepper in it that it was impossible to taste any other flavors. This was definitely disgusting. I will most likely not give their food a third chance. In terms of service I should mention that the impression I got was that the employees are treated like garbage, and it shows in their sour and unhappy demeanor. The manager (perhaps owner?) seemed like a thoroughly unpleasant man. The space itself is loud and the seating is uncomfortable. Avoid it if you can.
(1)Trianna O.
I love palak paneer! I decided to try it at Kababeque and unfortunately was not impressed. It was soupy and the flavor was very bland. The paneer was chewy and tasted a little burnt. The saving grace was the rice...done to perfection and my reason for 2 stars instead of one.
(2)Ally A.
i am in heart with this place! plus anywhere that i am greeted by ganesh, remover of obstacles, is rockstar in my book. the liz and i got the tikka masala kabab and the haylna (or whatever) kabab. for sure, i recommend the tikka masala...it was ROCKSTAR!!!! the sauces you can get on the side are AMAZING, lovely kick to em...tasty with the DE-LICH rice. the crowning glory of this meal was the naan bread. srsly, next time i go, i am getting the bread and sauce and that's it. it was one of the best things i have ever put in my mouth. and that's saying something.
(5)His T.
I enjoy the food here. I find it easier and less expensive than options like Sher e Punjab. Is it authentic Indian food? Like I would know. Atmosphere? It's down the street from Pita Pit, which isn't exactly providing French restaurant levels of ambiance, either. Service? I've never had a problem with it except for the owner who has an off-putting attitude, particularly toward his staff. All that said, I repeatedly get take-out from here because I find it to be tasty, spicy, and quite filling. I have always been satisfied with the product and with the state of my belly afterward.
(3)Sean M.
Just had a delicious dinner at Kababeque Indian Grill on University. The Executive chef, Phil, was so incredibly nice and helpful with his recommendations. This is definitely going to be a new regular hang out. The portions were generous and the prices were extremely reasonable/
(5)Ahmed S.
i have to say for Tucson, this place isn't bad. It opened up my junior year of college. Sub par desi food at extremely high prices. Rolls are small and pricey. However, on campus, it is your only choice. Only other option is a few restaurants further north, but not ideal choice for a campus lunch. Recommend it, so many people love this place. Cannot blame them either, by Tucson standards this place is pretty decent, almost good. However, when compared to what I've had in the bay area, this place does not compare.
(3)Vince R.
Really good atmosphere but I went close to closing time. The Bollywood videos are pretty interesting and the booths are a little strange but the food was great. The manager came out when we were looking at the menu on the side walk and made some suggestions. Very bold tactic so I gave it a try. I had the lamb tikka masala spicy. It was better than I had planned with some plain and non over cooked naan. The flavors were not very complicated but I was pretty hungry. Free refills are a plus but you have to go behind the counter to get it so it feels a little strange. Also, they need to work on getting some plates. Eating out of styrofoam take out carriers is ok for some but I wanted some plates and silverware. I attribute it to the close proximity to campus. I'll update this when I go back but for now I would definitely recommend this place.
(3)Aaron G.
Tried the jalapeno naan...bomb
(4)Willanne W.
We have eaten here a number of times and usually get a curry and a kebab to share along with a nan. Decided to step out of our norm and ordered a prantha stuffed with potato. Oh my! First it is quite large. Served piping hot and crammed full of soft potato and enhanced with Indian spices. Yummy to the tummy for about $4.50. We shared that with a curry and left stuffed to the gills. Even though I eat high levels of spice, I've learned to go with a 2/5 or a 3/5 on spice level there or it gets too hot to enjoy. They have a small chutney bar to help yourself to several different chutneys to complement your meal. It isn't the cheapest Indian curry around but it is quite tasty. There is usually a Bollywood film or music video running on the TV screen for your dining entertainment. The dining area is very small and definitely not upscale. There are a couple of tables outside as well. They do try to up sell suggesting nan, beverages etc... but they should try... it is a business after all! Sometimes the service can be indifferent so that prevents me from giving it 4 stars. We have never left unhappy and usually have a to go bag as we couldn't finish everything.
(3)Erik R.
Stopped here on my way to CA and I'm glad I did. The food was great and the naan was delicious. Prices seemed high until I got the food because you really get big portions. Everything tastes fresh and homemade. My only qualms: took about 15 min to get the food at about 8:40 on a Friday night when we were the only 2 people in there and the indoor seating is pretty bad. The decor is ok but the actual seats are very uncomfortable and the booths are awkward at best. Overall, a great place and I would def be a regular if I lived in the area.
(4)Kirstin B.
Great curry dishes and fast! Probably my favorite place in the Main Gate area. I love the haryali rolls, the saag, and the korma. Tonight we added an order of the potato nan. Delicious!
(5)Giselle T.
This Indian restaurant has good Indian food. The service is good and they dont take long in getting your order (most of the time). Its a really good choice if you like highly seasoned dishes and you are on a budget. Their prices are really good if you are a student and they have some good deals if you have a Catcard. It is conveniently placed on University Blvd and you can always call in and place your order. My suggestion is to go there order your meal and watch the colorfull bollywood music videos while you wait. They are so entertaining...I never know whats going on but there is dancing, lots of colors and a young dude always trying to get the girl .Love it!
(3)L G.
The food is decent and the location convenient but the service is lacking. I had it delivered and it says that there is free delivery on the website, but I was charged a $2 dollar delivery fee despite the claim. I called to ask about the charge and the owner said it was an oversight on the website and offered no apology or refund. We also only received 3 small pieces of lamb in our dish. Needless to say we were disappointed and will be taking our business elsewhere from now on.
(2)Zach H.
Great Indian food. If you do delivery, though, be prepared to wait.
(4)Jamie B.
First order of business--the photo currently used with the lentil donuts, curry dish, eggs, etc. is not of the Kababeque food for those of you who have not yet frequented the joint. Kababeque offers food in the Indian style, though not true to Indian cuisine. The positives of Kababeque Indian Grill are that it has a good location near the UA campus and is by far the closest Indian restaurant in that part of town. Prices (especially compared to entree prices among Indian restaurants in town) are cheap to on par. Curries are served in hearty portion with rice, and that is hard to beat. Cuisine is a take on Northern style Indian cuisine. I suggest skipping the naan and instead go for the prantha. I'm not sure how they do it, but their naan tastes like super-bleached all-purpose white flour--it is the sliced white bread of naan. Their interpretation of prantha is akin to a large tortilla with Indian spices and it is a better accompaniment to their dishes in my opinion. The curries are not the most complex, which is why I don't consider it to be true Indian. I think it is also good to note that meals are not usually served quickly. I worked on the UA campus near Cherry and University and there would be no way that the brisk walk there, food ordering, food eating, and brisk walk back could ever happen within an hour. I would suggest trying to call ahead to order and either taking the food away or eating after you arrive if you are on a timed lunch break. The location inside is pretty cramped and if you are lucky enough to catch one of the booths, you may be comfortable. Otherwise seating is either heavy metal or wood and leather bar-height chairs. Outside there are tables and chairs to sit if it is nice out.
(3)Bruce C.
I eat here regularly for lunch, and have always enjoyed it. My usual fare is the Chicken Kabab, which is both a really tasty and reasonably priced lunch. I've also had the Chicken Tikka Masala, which also gets high marks. I wish the small sodas were larger, but with free refills, I guess that's not such a big deal.
(4)Daniel M.
I actually give it 4.5. This place is amazing. At least the food is. The food is just what I want. Mild(perfectly mild), Medium(perfectly spicy inbetween mild and spicy) and spicy)(perfectly spicy, not too hot and not too mild) I have a high tolerance for spice though, just a warning. The food is always flavorful and barring what you order, it is usually healthy to boot. I usually get the chiken balti which comes in a flavorful red tomato sauce with green bell peppers, onions and chicken with a side of rice. the naan is also exceptoinal. The only reason I knocked it a .5 star is ebcaue sometimes the staff seems unhappy to work there and thats going a bit far, they're never mean but if I am going to give a restaurant a perfet rating, everything about it better be perfect. Either way, I would recommend this place if you want something healthy and different.
(4)Lisa W.
I really like going to this place for lunch. It's perfect when you're just not feeling the usual pizza/burger/burrito fare. It's very convenient, fast, and I really like the food for a quick service restaurant. The naan is great.
(4)Michelle T.
This is my favorite fast food Curry. I love the chicken tikka masala, so saucy, the naan bread fresh steamy and mouth watering, and rice is always super fluffy. Top it all off with a super size mango lassi.
(5)Sasha S.
Okay, I really want to give this place less stars, but their lamb Que rolls are just so good. I don't know if they're Indian, but they're nice cheap food. Change that, I just gave them two stars now because I remember that even though they're good, they are over priced. They used to serve a good korma, but not since I last had it. The staff is generally always a disappointment. There's an Indian man who seems to be the owner/manager and he generally has the demeanor that we're wasting his time. Maybe it's just the culture. They had some younger American students working there who were the exact opposite - nice and friendly in that over the board American way. Unfortunately, no one had taught them to shut up when they're not talking to customers. They were chatting amongst each other in their loud American voices. Annoying.
(2)Doug W.
Thank Ganesh these guys deliver! Chicken Tikka Masala sent to our front door on a busy night can hit the spot. That said, I really love their location too, with Bollywood Videos going nonstop. They should get some new ones though.
(4)Lindsay L.
Hubski and I dropped in on this quaint place while searching for knishes that no longer existed. I loved the decor. It's a small place, kind of like my mother's Scottsdale walk-in closet, but they have done a lot with it. It does seem more like a snack place, but I was definitely full when we left. The food was ready quickly but was great quality. It was a little greasy, a little spicy, and it really hit the spot. Their chai is authentic and tasty. If I am ever in Tucson again, I will drop by and have another chicken dish. I'd like to try the saag paneer too. Bollywood on TV... what else could I say? This place is great.
(4)kelly r.
So many vegan options and finally something really hot. We loved the vegetable biryani. A little on the expensive side for a university joint but oh so good.
(4)Dan D.
Great fast Indian food. Fresh and decently fast. Free drink with your CatCard
(3)Steven N.
Pretty good food at a pretty good price. Try the lamb Que Roll and make sure to get an order of naan!
(3)Anand P.
I feel bad for non-Indians eating at this place. They dont know how Indian food tastes and they think this is great. It is one of the worst Indian restaurants in Tucson, and absolutely overpriced. Their other restaurant Saffron Bistro is the best in Tucson and well worth it. But Kababeque is horrible. The food is even stale at times and nobody realizes it as they have not tasted stale Indian food before.
(1)Vaibhav B.
I think this place is the worst Indian food in town.... Its not authentic, and they have no idea on how to make Biryani...
(1)Brooke R.
The food is satisfactory. It's small and doesn't provide a good dining experience. The lamb que something is good. It's like a wrappy thing with lamb and spices inside. This is more of a snack place than a dinner place.
(3)Brad F.
the Sag Paneer is great, and the samosas are excellent. Go early if you want to find a place to sit inside. Bollywood features prominently in the decor, and there's usually a Bollywood feature on the television. Recommended.
(4)Camille A.
I have eaten there twice- both times the food was good, but the guy at the counter (the manager perhaps?) was unfriendly. I like the food, but his attitude does not inspire me to eat there again.
(3)Surranna V.
I am so torn about this place. It was recommended to me by a friend whom I consider to have good taste and know I am thinking our tastes may be different. I ordered the lamb wrap, spicy! Hum! The first thing that threw me was that the wrap was nothing to do with Indian food or Middle Eastern even. The wrap was a surprisingly authentic flour tortilla. OK, whatever! Next, I happen to have the gift of cooking lamb so it doesn't taste game-y, well Kababeque didn't have that gift last night. The spicy sauce was hot pinkish which is probably full of food coloring and well mass produced which left me thinking, do they make any of their sauces from scratch? The final detail that made me decide to give this place two starts is the lettuce in the wrap. Maybe rice but lettuce? It was warm and wilty, the texture ruined the food. I hope the other dishes are better, maybe the chicken is a safer bet, but i have a feeling I will never find out!
(2)rubylee r.
Bad bad bad, staff has a bad attitude. Like you are doing them a favor going there. Service is sllllooooowwwwwww. Food is mediocre
(1)Leila L.
Stopped in for lunch to-go around noon today. This is the first time I've been inside since the renovation--they really opened up the space and brought in more seating. I'm really glad they kept the TV showing Bollywood films, I always thought that was a charming, quirky decor element. I am a huge fan of the lamb Q-Roll--think Indian burrito--I like spice, but am cautious, and found the medium level perfect. I also ordered a mango lassi; tart, refreshing, and not too sweet, wonderful complement to our summer temperatures. Even though I was in the middle of the lunch rush the service was very friendly. Maybe not this restaurant's fastest, but the staff were really attentive and gracious. I didn't mind the wait--my lunch was super satisfying.
(4)Christopher B.
We moved and now live right near Main Gate Square. Why not try the closest Indian place? Love some Butter Chicken and Masala. Some naan to scoop it all up. What we got here was nothing to love. It was tough meet, bad suaces, and made the mistake to order delivery which took much longer than promised. I would recommend going to Safeway, buying a breast of chicken, a bottle of butter chicken sauce, and some instant basmati and one would be soooo much better off. Will never eat here again.
(1)Jerry L.
Everything is pretty much okay here except sometimes it's a mess. One time I got vindaloo that was so watery that my rice was just in a soup by the time I got to the end. The spice level is not up to what one should expect from Indian food. I do really like their lamb rolls, the bread is nice and firm without being too dry. Also, if you like green bell peppers as much as I do, their chili option is pretty great. The portion sizes are okay too. You would like to have more food for the higher price you're paying but everything is expensive around the university anyway.
(3)Julie H.
No one eating here and leaving good reviews has eaten at real Indian or even half-done Indian restaurants. Asides from the fact that the manager is rude, the food is consistently watered down. The raita I ordered was watered down, as were the tikka masala and the curry. They cut corners in every order. I would never recommend this place...unless it was to someone whose money I wanted to see being wasted. Don't eat at this place. Watered down food, low quality ingredients, cut corners in every single order, and the manager is rude-after you pay, he won't hear a word you say.
(1)Monica E.
I have been eating here for years upon years. When I cannot get off campus to Shere-E-Punjab, this is my go-to spot. And since the renovation of last year or so, the space and -- somehow -- the service have improved substantially. My favorite about the new space: gorgeous windows that let in natural, bright light, and I've developed quite the affinity for the bright green chairs there. What to know? This is a small, super casual and speedy restaurant. And, after placing your order, you can be sure that your food will be prepped and ready to go within 10 minutes or so. My favorite is the saag. Doesn't matter if you have it with chicken, paneer or whatever else, the dish always carries a lovely flavor, with a hint of mustard seed. Nice. But where are the issues? The place can get crammed very quickly during the lunch rush. That makes for too many awkward situations. Also, the veggie samosas and the tikka masala are strangely flat on the flavor. Just...not interesting at all. I hear the tikka masala is the most popular dish. How?! There is SO MUCH MORE going on with the menu offerings, I cannot believe the tikka is the go-to item here. The tomato sauce flavor is strong with this one. The bonuses? I've had great luck with the curry and korma. The aloo matar and the biryani are also quite nice. And the Q-roll -- brilliant addition! It's yummy, spice-enduced flavor wrapped in a thin bread-like tortilla with crisp lettuce and this glorious sauce. Seriously?! Perfect for lunch. Try the lamb and haryali rolls. Yum-yum. Also important to note: You have the option of mild, medium or spicy. I tend to go with medium, but find that I often wish I had gone a bit more spicy than that. I was raised in Los Angeles. Tobasco sauce is a fun flavor additive. Dave's Insanity offers just an enjoyable rise. ("Give me the habanero, I say, or give me death!") So, for me, the spice often runs mild and dry at Kababeque. What else is important to mention? The favorite and enjoyable naan! You have the option of plain naan, or a whole selection of flavorings, like cheese, japapeno, lamb, aloo and other naans. Seems the garlic naan is pretty popular here. I have not tried anything other than the plain naan. It's pretty amazing. The size of two adult faces for a little more than $2. Nice pricing there. So, yes, highly recommended, especially if you are on campus or visiting campus.

It took OVER AN HOUR to get my food delivered!! I can't understand why it took so long. When you order online, it doesn't give you a time estimate. However, the chicken curry and garlic naan bread were pretty good. I just know that I won't be ordering delivery again. Beware if you're hungry. I'd just go and order it to-go in the restaurant. (I ordered at 7:30 pm, so I didn't think it'd be busy enough to warrant over an hour of delivery, when I'm 5 minutes away.)

Just a little place on the street near the university, so we always get take-out. Not too much reason to eat-in. My favorite is the veggie tikka masala. They have always gotten our orders right, and the food is quite good, according to everyone I eat with. Definitely a must-try for a casual, take-out, delicious meal in Tucson.

Smallish place serving Indian food quickly. The paneer tikka was really tasty and soft. Don't forget to take the raita from the side of the counter! Can skip the green chutney and the red sauce.

Ordered delivery, food arrived in 1 hour. Our order included: -tandoori chicken -aloo saag - raita -garlic naan The serving sizes are generous. Some dishes are spicier than others when served medium, so you might be over/underwhelmed depending on your personal preference for heat. We enjoyed the chicken, which was seasoned well and included cooked onion and bell peppers. The saag aloo is flavorful. We might order either again, even though I assume they both contain lots of sodium. The one bad item we ordered was the raita. It was runny with 15 cubed carrots and cucumbers with an off-putting odor and flavor.

I give this place a solid four stars. I'm not going to say it's the most authentic Indian place around (they seriously have Indian burritos), but the food is good. And when you ask for spicy, they give you spicy. The decor is clearly geared toward the college crowd -- not surprising, given their location, but we old fogeys never feel too weird there. Plus I appreciate the Bolliwood film selection!

The chicken makehani (medium spicy) was delicious. Perfect to dip my garlic & jalapeño naan in. Although the kebabs were a little on the dry side. Portion size is good, not too much & not too little. The man working the cash register was very hospitable.

The food here is better than most Indian restaurants I have been to. We ordered the haryali kabob wrap, small paneer wrap, and chicken tikka masala. We also got a strawberry lassi which tasted more like a milkshake, but it was still delicious. There isn't a ton of seating at this place, but it seemed just enough for a Saturday night. Hands down, my favorite dish was the haryali kabob wrap! The chicken is tender and juicy and has the right amount of flavor and spice. The chicken tikka masala was okay. It was good and flavorful, but I've had better. It might be the best in the Tucson area though. I didn't like the paneer wrap at all! It had a lot of different flavors and they did not taste good together. I'll be back on my next trip to Tucson for the haryali kabob wrap and hopefully try another one of their dishes too.

Kababeque is a through and through a FIVE for me. Even my Indian friends think it is authentic. My husband has cravings for Kababeque on a weekly basis (sometimes those frozen Trader Joe's indian dinners just won't do), and we were so bummed when the place was closed for renovation (my husband almost had tears in his eye when he learned he had to go without Kababeque for such an extended period of time and impulsively checked on the progress of renovation every time he passed University... welcome to our life). Now the renovated space feels very clean and modern. While the dine-in area is still quite small, it is a lot opener than it used to be. Food here is consistently exceptional. I haven't found anything I don't like, but a word of caution, some dishes can be quite spicy. While my husband's favorite is the Tikki Masala, I love the Q Rolls (especially the tandoori chicken, but it seems it's no longer on the menu). The Aloo naan and Q-rolls are yummy, but it can be FIREY! Price is reasonable, and wait can be long. My mouth is watering while writing this review!!! Need to get my Kababeque fix tonight!
