A little farewell lunch was held amongst my peers at work today and the person bidding us adieu loves her pizza so naturally that is what we feasted on. Jimmy's Pizzeria had the honor of providing our pig out today. Walking in to the boardroom, a beautiful array of pies sat before us. I opened each box but only one pizza was calling my name. Actually, it was screaming at me, "Hey yous! Get over here! What, I gotta put it in your mouth for you?!?" That bad boy was the sinfully good Jimmy the Greek pizza. Described on their menu as a sauceless crust (who needs it when everything else tastes this good?) filled with fresh leaf spinach, diced tomatoes, feta, Greek peppers and black olives. I'm not HUGE on pizza but this one is delicious and different. The crust was the perfect combination of chewy and soft where you can rip it apart with a slight tug and twist. The ingredients were fresh and plentiful. New favorite pizza. 2 slices in my belly, it's just like that. Baddabing Baddaboom!

Pizza fingers. Garlic Knots. Baked Ziti. My holy trinity of Jimmys. Even better is I can never finish it all, and it all heats up to perfection in my oven to feed me for a couple days. Staff is always really nice, and helpful. Even the cook has a tendency to pop his head out of the kitchen to check the score of the game on one of the flat screens and I have to resist the urge of dropping to my knees and thanking him as I weep happily over my meal.

I haven't eaten here in quite some time but I still taste the garlic knots. This place is great and the owner is a great guy as well. It's a nice little hole in the wall place to get some great food. My favorite pizza is a signature pie called "Whitey Ford" and it's just delicious! :) Give this place a try.

I decided to give this place a second try after many years. Garlic knots should really be called greasy dough knots. The pizza was ok. The sauce was what truly ruined it. It tasted as if it comes straight from a can. And is so completely bland. I think that's what you can say about this restaurant, bland. For how much everything costs it's just a huge disappointment. Cheesecake was good. All around not going to order here again. I regret spending the money.

Great pizza and calzone. I would recommend this place except for the gal taking my order. She's very pushy with her trying to recommend extra toppings. The extra toppings quickly run up the cost. Try Rocco's (on Broadway) for Chicago style or Brooklyn's (on Fifth) for New York style. For more gourmet style pizza go to Scordados, Vera Amore, Grimaldi's or Zona 78.

I went here with my mom and it was just OK. The salad seemed like it was from the pre-mixed/washed bags at the grocery store. Some of the leaves were brown and I feel like it could have been freshened up a bit by washing it with cold water. The ranch was not good. Tasted like old refrigerated stuff in a jar. The actual food was just ok, nothing special. The garlic knots are what they are "known for" and I could hardly taste any garlic. It seemed like there was only one person working there and at lunch hour running a restaurant is more than a one person job. He did actually give great service though. Oh, and I don't like that they don't have beer on tap, just bottles.

I don't quite know why this place came to me so highly recommended... I thought the best part was the service - the server was tremendously kind, attentive, anticipated perfectly, and I can't say enough nice things about him this afternoon. Bravo. The pizza itself is ok. And that's it - ok. Not great, not bad, it's palatable and passable, maybe a B - or so. The menu says a "Big" slice for $2.50 - no way. This was a regular slice, same size as Brooklyn Pizza - not a big slice like NYPD or Mama's. The pizza crust is ok, the sauce has a strong tomato taste which overpowers any additional seasonings they may have slipped in. The garlic knots are ok too. Lumps of bread (albeit high quality bread) doused in garlic butter with a side of marinara. The marinara is flat - but at least they serve it in an actual ramekin and not to-go plastic garbage. The place, although clean, is dark and gloomy, like a backroom of a speak easy. Gaudy chairs that were early 1980's rejects. Dimly lit. I do like that they have many TV's, well located, tuned to relative sports channels. Price was reasonable - 3 iced teas, 4 slices of pizza, and 1 order of garlic knots, with tax, $22. I would recommend them 3rd in line behind NYPD and Brooklyn I suppose. Perfect 3 star (except the service which was 5 star).

Jimmy's (formerly Canal Street) is solidly good food. It's not the most authentic Italian food, and it isn't really NY-style pizza except for in shape, but it still tastes pretty good. My husband has liked every pizza he's ordered. He always gets the small size (10in.) and that's way more than enough for one person. They don't skimp on toppings or cheese, so each slice is pretty hefty. The veggies all taste pretty fresh. The meats are decent. The cheese is decent. The red sauce is pretty good. It is a little sweet, like a good tomato sauce, and fairly well-seasoned. The crust can be a little thick, which is what really makes me say it's not "real" NY-style pizza. However, it tastes just fine. We've also tried the buffalo chicken specialty pizza. Their buffalo sauce is actually really good! It's pretty hot, too, which is a huge plus! And the hot doesn't overpower it, so it's still plenty flavorful. The chicken has always been tender and good quality. Overall, it's a very tasty pizza, and a nice change from the more traditional pie. I always order the baked ziti, but without the sausage. (I just don't like sausage, it has nothing to do with theirs in particular.) The sauce, again, is very seasoned and pretty good. Not the best I've ever had, but it ranks high amongst the sauces I've had in Tucson. They clearly put oregano and basil in it, which are the base of a good Italian sauce. They also put plenty of ricotta cheese mixed into the ziti. One thing I've noticed -- and I'm not sure they do it on purpose -- the pasta doesn't end up soupy, so it seems like they're draining the ricotta, which is exactly how it should be done. Lots of mozzarella is layered on top and then baked until the cheese is melty but a little browned. The baked ziti is served with a few of their amazing garlic knots. If you go to Jimmy's, you MUST try the garlic knots! They're garlicy. They're buttery. They're so bad for you, but they're so good for you, too! They certainly make me very happy! The service since they changed to Jimmy's has been really good and very friendly. They're always on top of drink refills and any other request. The prices are reasonable and the portions are large. The dining room has TV's tuned onto sports most of the time. The dining room itself isn't fancy or anything, but I find it to be kinda cozy. The bathroom has always been clean whenever I've been in there. Overall, I'll be returning to Jimmy's. It's not the most authentic, but it is still tasty and I enjoy it.

We stopped by and we were pleasantly surprised! What a hidden gem! Kenny was our server and he was attentive and friendly. We had a classic pepperoni pie, the Chicken Rancher specialty pie, and the Pork Sammy, and shared a cheesecake. The food is excellent and served in a timely manner. The pricing is more than fair for the quality and quantity of food served. We are from out of town, and really glad we stopped in and tried this place. We will come back again. If you like a small, informal, but GREAT food experience, this is the place for you!

I reviewed this venue a while ago, but thought I'd let you know that this is, by far, my favorite pizza place these days. The dough has a really pleasant, somewhat-firm, 'chew' to it, the sauce is perfectly tomato-y with a good amount of spices. A huge plus is that the sauce is NOT sweet - I hate sweet pizza sauce. My absolute FAVORITE pizza to get here is a simple ham and cheese pizza. The ham they use is better than any other I've had on a pizza anywhere else. It has a substantial flavor profile even though it is thin sliced ham pieces. It is a wee bit oily, but experts say that dabbing pizza with a napkin CAN actually help lessen the side effects of the oiliness, so give it a shot if you feel you must. My husband and I still love their cinni knots. I must admit that I rarely stray from my two staples there, so I can't comment on much else foodwise. In all the years we've ordered pizza here for friends and family, everyone has always thought it was delicious. I've never actually eaten IN the restaurant since we get our food to go, but the wait staff behind the counter and on the phone have always been very courteous and happy, which we all can agree is a lovely thing. I recommend trying this place out. They sell pizza by the slice, as well. I haven't tried that yet since I need at least 3 pieces to feel appropriately American. If you go and experience poor service or you don't like the food for whatever reason (you're probably crazy...) don't come running to me complaining! This entire review is based entirely on my opinion, which is always right... in my opinion.

So, let's start first by saying I love small businesses and HATE, HATE to have to leave a low rating like this. Although, you have to be given the hard honest truth. I asked the waiter a few questions about the menu and I kid you not his response was I'm not sure I'm not the chef. (No shit?) So, my fiancee had the lasagna and he thought it was just so, so. I had the tortellini in a pesto and it came with mushrooms, artichokes, olives, tomatoes. Well, I subbed mine for no olives and extra mushrooms. The plates all come with a" house salad" and garlic knots. Well, let's start with the salad it's just a huge pile of lettuce and 3 small cherry tomatoes. The salad was wilted. The house dressing was a Italian and it was fine. Well, when my food came out the first thing I notice is how watered down the sauce looks. I try my first bite and it's clear they're NOT fresh. So, I figured they made them in house and froze them. I decided to ask the waiter and come to find out its store bought or pre-ordered. I also didn't have a single artichoke and I ask about it. He walked into the kitchen and I guess ask the chef and he came back and said" he put artchokes" in it. That's funny because I didn't have a single one. The only other table in the place was complaining to the waiter about the lasagna. Which my fiancee is more the suffer in silence type. So, he didn't say much about his but it was the same complaint (bland and not warm). Now, here's some pros garlic knots were so good! The business was clean and very warming. The iced tea taste fresh. That's about it on the pros.

The baked ziti was fantastic and well blended with Italian sausage and all the cheeses. The caesar salad was fresh, crisp, and well chilled, but skimpy on the dressing. Garlic knots were average and not a good substitute for traditional garlic bread. Jimmy's would have received 5 stars from me except they nickel and dimed by charging me $2.00 more for substituting a house garden salad for a caesar salad. I will definitely be back for the pasta though.

Tucson must really be hurting for pizza places if this warrants such high reviews. Evidently this used to be Canal Street Pizza, which is what we were looking for. Our service was very good, but the food was unremarkable. The salads were not fresh, and the pizza and pasta were only OK. It's not a bad place, but there was nothing about it that stood out as noteworthy. And frankly they have no business calling it a "New York" pizzeria, because it's definitely not New York style. Personally I would not go back. I'm sure there are better pizza places in town.

The whitey ford pizza was good. The price of $23 for a 16 inch is crazy. The pizza is not worth more than 16 even with the fresh ingredients.

I have been a regular here at Jimmy's for nearly two years. I have also worked in the pizza business for some time. The staff here are downright friendly and courteous and they make it a point the customers receive the best experience possible. The food is a mixture of unique and common, and the portions are generous. As an added bonus, they have a selection of wines, spirits, and beers one could enjoy. To anyone who enjoys Italian food or pizza, I highly recommend this casual, hole-in-the-wall eating establishment.

For the money the lunch specials are a good deal. Waiter was efficient even though every table was full, bathroom was clean even though there is leak from the ceiling that drips into the sink (there is a hole cut out of the ceiling). The line cook delivered our food, as the server was slammed. Food was passable but not unique or special. If you are hungry and don't have a lot to spend for lunch than this is the place for you.

Jimmy's pizza is my top spot for a good pie/Italian cuisine in Tucson. The ingredients are always fresh and you get what you pay for. Great lunch menu and great service every time I go. Every pizza place whether you're in New York or Tucson, AZ has it's own style; as a native New Yorker, this place definitely gets the job done. Highly recommended.

Delivery was prompt, customer service both on the phone, and in person, was good. The Pizza: Good sauce, and ingredients - but the crust . . . not so much. Not sure why, as I'm not a pizza maker . . . Even though it's a 'thin' crust (about 1/4"-3/8" thick, which to me, is a bit thick for a thin crust), it's too 'bready' for a 'thin' crust.

I have been ordering pizza from Jimmy's since it was Canal Street Pizza. I have never been disappointed. After about 10 years, I finally ate IN the restaurant with two friends. The service was excellent and we were comfortable and had a wonderful time. And, as always, the pizza was excellent. We had one Whitey Ford. And the other was to order: garlic, basil, sun dried tomatoes, and mushrooms; with no tomatoes sauce. So good!

The food was great; service was a little slow. We were a party of 10, but place was sort of empty, so it shouldn't have been a problem. Maybe a fluke, but again food was all around top notch. One of the best pizzas I've had.

Wonderful little spot for a cheap & filling lunch, happy hour drinks at the bar, or a delicious dinner. I had a superb server named Kenny and left feeling as though I made a new best friend! This is definitely some of the best pizza I have found in Tucson. They have a seafood pizza which sounds most bizarre, but is actually very yummy! The garlic knots and parmesan potatoes may wreak havoc on your well planned diet, yet they somehow always leave you in the happiest of food hazes!! Delivery is prompt as well and the driver, Timmy, was quite congenial. I will certainly return to this restaurant due to the amicable staff & tasty food:)

Odd it's taken me this long to do a Yelp review, but here's to the beginning of a dynasty. I think. I went to Jimmy's tonight after the suggestion of a friend who was in attendance with both myself and my girlfriend. We had originally intended to stop by and visit Whole Foods but the sign that simply read "PIZZA" served as a beacon in the night. These days, it isn't that often I get into a place without a preface, but such was the case with Jimmy's. What felt like familiar LA-being-NYC decor and a chalk menu suggested myriad pizza and pasta options along with some salads, beers, and other specialty drinks. The pizza all sounded amazing but I settled for something I haven't had in years -- baked ziti. My girlfriend and her friend selected the Treehugger (vegetarian) pizza. Their pie arrived piping hot with an ample crust, plenty of toppings and a good balanced of cheese. My ziti was prefaced by a simple salad with a few cherry tomatoes and a side of decent Italian dressing -- nothing to write home about. But the main course -- fantastic! I've always had an aversion to tomatoes but have struggled in the last few years to decimate such a ridiculous problem for a boy of Sicilian heritage. The marinara used here was outstanding, balanced ever so perfectly with a blend of ricotta and mozzarella, creamy in the dish and bubbling brown on the outside, additionally topped with sausage for that nice kick of salty, caraway-ey kick. Furthermore, I was also given four garlic knots, which was a perfect way to sop up leftover sauce (which proved problematic since I wasn't leaving very much behind...). I was really impressed, and for about $40 with tax and tip, we got out with a pretty decent amount of food. Definitely planning to go back soon.

Jimmy's Pizzeria has always been amazing. The quality of food is fantastic, the service is exceptional, and the drink specials are right on the money! I'm very fond of the baked ziti, Philly cheese sandwich, and of course their garlic knots. Even my husband who is picky about his pizza will always be very happy with Jimmy's!

I'm from New York so when a place puts "New York" in its name it better live up to it. Jimmy's falls way short. I tried some pizza by the slice. The crust tasted like a pre-made crust (I don't think it was but that was the consistency) and the sauce tasted like it came from a jar with the acrid taste of dry oregano overpowering the tomatoes. The cheese was so-so. Afterwards I suffered from agida.

We moved in to our apartment not knowing it was a pizza delivery dead zone. We refuse to eat pizza from any of the generic chain restaurants because we think they're garage so I almost cried when I thought we would have to leave our apartment when we were feeling lazy to get good pizza. We called this place and we were ecstatic when they said they would deliver to our apartment. Not to mention the pizza is great! Their garlic knots are also really good. Now Jimmy's is our go to pizza place and we always order from them!

This place is awesome!! I came here with my mother, son and great grandma today for lunch. Kenny was the only one running the front of the house, and he is very good at what he does. Very attentive and sweet as can be! And what amazed me even more where the amount of regulars in the place, and Kenny's ability to remember our ENTIRE order without writing it down, which was a feat in itself because we ordered $60+ worth of food. The Garden salad was awesome, we also had those amazing garlic knots and some pizza fingers. I also ordered a Stromboli and could only take two bites of it, because I was already so full!! Everything was so good and the marinara sauce was sweet and tangy yummy. We got a lot of boxes to go, and I'm pretty sure I have enough food to last me a week and a half now. Jimmy's is my new pizza joint, hands down!

The best pizza I've ever had was from a little shop in East Syracuse N.Y. called Alessandro's. Since then I have been trying to find a pizza that even comes close. These guys come VERY close!! They call it New York style pizza and it is! Real cheese and a very tasty crust make this my new favorite pizza joint in Tucson! The prices are reasonable and the service is excellent! Give it a try!!
