I have had Jade Garden deliver to my home on numerous occasions. I have always been happy with both service and food. I will say that it is a bit pricy, but one comes to expect that when being too lazy to get dressed and actually go pick food up. For those that are looking for immediate delivery (30 minutes or less), this is not the delivery food for you. For the quality I am happy to wait the 45 or so that it takes.

Horrible Customer Service!!! Ordered food online and saw the food when I walked in. I was told "Food not ready" and the seated 3 other parties. Then When I was able to actually pick up the food, they asked for my credit card. Although I placed the order online with my card!!! When I asked why it was needed again I was told that they don't actually run it through the website. Forget about coming back here!! Pei Wei or GMG will get my business from now on!

This is typical American-Chinese fare. My wife and I stopped in for Friday night dinner. We got a half-order of crab rangoon - which are better than most you can get in Tucson. Also ordered before the entree were soups; I got the won ton soup, which came loaded with wontons, pork strips, and vegetables, and my wife got egg drop soup, which she thought was average. For entrees, I ordered General Tso's Chicken. Sadly, the pieces were more breading than chicken. My wife got the tamarind shrimp, which was a much better choice. It came with lots of shrimp and was lightly breaded witth a nice citrus taste. The service was excellent, with our server making sure our glasses were full and cheerily delivering the food. If it weren't for my disappointing entree this review would be a 4/5. I think I'll give Jade Garden another chance, but for now I'm calling it average. This might just be the kind of place where you have to know what to order...

The food is piping hot and very flavorful. Go here instead of a buffet, you can definitely taste the difference. The place is comfortable and clean, with quick service. The decor may be a little dated, but I'm not going to deduct a star just for that!

I'm quite the "foodie" having experience as a cook and my brothers' a chef, but why others didn't give this a better rating, I have no idea. The only item we tried that really was not good was the egg roll. It had some kind of cinnamon flavor to it that was kinda funky. The frozen ones at the grocery store are better than this. Ok, with that out of the way, the crab Rangoon were fantastic, the hot and sour soup was the best in town. Mr. Ahn does not hold a candle to this soup. The kung pau chicken ROCKED!!!! I love spicy food and this is exactly the way this dish is supposed to be. You'll need a glass of milk. My wife had the pepper steak which was fantastic as well. I can't wait to try other items here!!!!!! We have been searching for a great Chinese restaurant ever since we moved here and now we've found it!!!!!!!!

I'm giving Jade Garden a one because I ordered delivery 4x from them. One time the food arrived in 30 minutes, but 3 times it took OVER an hour. My last and final straw was waiting an hour and thirty minutes for our food!!! Unbelievable... Did I mention we live down the street? I had to call them twice... I thought the guy was walking our food over or something? Regardless... I'm done with Jade Garden. The owner didn't even offer us any form of compensation except for an apology. Bottomline: snails work here....

No way. I ordered take out for a meeting from here. The dining room seemed moderately clean and a sign noted it was Best in Tucson 2013. I put the Chinese food in my car and went back in to use the restroom. That's when I saw the dirty condition of the bathrooms, kitchen and the back of the restaurant. I couldn't eat the food after seeing it. It was that bad. Things don't have to be fancy, but get a bottle of Formula 409 cleaner and empty the overflowing trash. They also gave my order one box of rice for $30 in meals to share?

I ordered delivery on a Thursday. Food arrived way quicker then expected and the delivery person was extremely polite. I wish I had had more cash on hand to tip him more. I ordered the hot and spicy beef, snow pea chicken, pork bbq fried rice, crab puffs, and egg rolls. No complaints, everything tasted excellent. Will definitely order again!

It's your typical Chinese restaurant. Nothing that jumps out for me except their awesomely cheap lunch specials! For just $5.25 you get an entree, rice, egg roll, wonton, & soup! Pretty good deal, huh? I've had this place several times before for take out, delivery, and dine in. All I can say is that the service is a-ok. Food is made pretty fast, so if you're coming for lunch, you're in and out well before your hour is up. I've only been here or ordered take-out during lunch, so here's my experience in dining in...the waitress is hardly in the dining area, but somehow appears when you start to need her. There's probably a two-way mirror looking into the dining area..Lol. Most of the time, she just comes when the meal is served, and when we are ready to go. As for the food, it's alright. Don't get me wrong, I really like the food, but nothing worth raving about, it's just your regular Chinese fare. My go-to favorites are the BBQ Spare Ribs, Curry Chicken, and the Sesame Chicken lunch specials (order them with fried rice!). Yummy! FYI, they charge extra if you are paying with a credit card and your bill is under $10. My friend and I usually put our tab on one bill and pay each other back. Also, if you opt for delivery, your order must be over $11. I'll definitely keep coming back. Jade Garden has good Chinese food for lunch at the right price!

I've never been to a restaurant with staff so rude, and I've been to Dick's Last Resort. Rudeness is a gimmick at Dick's, but not here. They will treat you like garbage, especially if you want your food delivered. Your food will be cold, and if you call to complain, you will be told to just pick it up next time you order. It's a shame, because the food is spectacular.

For the last 3 times I have ate here after 30 minutes I would have to go to the bathroom I believe this place is very dirty looked them up on health department website and find out why. Food is actually not bad but way inconsistent depends on which cook is cooking or how he feels....Thanks but no thanks

I base my reviews on how good their almond/cashew nut chicken is. If they can't do that right then I'm sure the rest of the menu sucks as well. This place was actually pretty good. Their soup, Eggroll and almond chicken had great flavor. The interior is nothing fancy but clean and service was very attentive. My only drawback was the temperature inside was pretty warm and they do not honor their lunch menu on a Monday Labor Day afternoon. Other than that, the food here is good.

I got the fried shrimp and crab puffs and it was awesome ! I ordered carryout and it was hot and ready when I arrived . I was also happy that I was offered different sauces for take out ! Will definitely be coming again .

Sesame chicken, extra spicy please! Best Chinese food around. I have a soft spot for Jade Garden but this five-star rating is well deserved. You see some 17 years ago my then 15 year old daughter got her 1st job at Jade Garden as a hostess. Three years later her little sister followed in her footsteps and took on the same job. This little neighborhood gem was so good and popular. A few years passed and the owner sold the business and it went downhill. But another change of hands occurred along the way and the quality and taste was back! I placed a takeout order of sesame chicken (extra spicy) BBQ pork low mein (with carrots & broccoli added) and half an order of crab puffs. Wow, enough food to feed me for days! Jade Garden's sesame chicken is fantastic but when ordered as extra spicy....holy moly is it good! The low mein is flavorful and packed full of BBQ pork and veggies. I can't stand when low mein leaves that greasy film in your mouth and thankfully Jade Garden's low mein doesn't do that at all. The crab puffs are perfectly fried to a golden brown and so delicious with a slight crab taste. I haven't eaten inside the restaurant in about three years but when I did I enjoyed excellent service and a delicious meal. However on a Sunday evening when I am still wearing grubby house cleaning clothes, take out is perfect!

Always fresh, well worth the price, amazing flavor. Its my favorite Asian food place, they take pride in what they cook there, very family oriented. I order and stop in often. Highly recommend!!!!

I tried Jade Garden for convenience because they deliver to my residence and I did not feel like leaving my home. This was a big contributing factor in me choosing this restaurant for lunch today. I had the Family Dinner C which offered a good amount of variety for the price. I thought this was the best bang for your buck. It offered soups, egg roll, and crab puffs.... yikes! The crab puffs were average- nothing out of the ordinary. The soup I chose was the hot and sour soup--- a little thick in consistency for my liking but otherwise it was good. The egg roll had a different flavor, almost sweet. It had just the right amount of crunch to it. For my meat, I chose the mongolian combo- it had beef, chicken, and shrimp. I will definitely get this again.. the flavor was great! I also tried the house lo mien without shrimp, just chicken and beef...very good. I loved that this place delivers, it was quick and easy. They even allow you to pay with debit card at your front door. They also leave a space for tip...some places tip has to be cash. I will definitely order from this restaurant. I recommend it if you're looking for good Chinese food. Nothing extremely to die for but it was good.

In Tucson Chinese and Asian can be hard to find, let alone a good rendition. This place is my choice for Chinese in Tucson. Prices are amazingly low, portions are large, flavors are bold and the ingredients were quality what more can one ask for. I oped for a spicy dish full of veggies mushrooms and tofu, (this describe 90% of vegetarian dishes) I had it made extra spicy, which meant it came with a few red peppers in it. I also had some chilli oil on the side. I do wish that they had this and sambal on the tables vs needing to ask for it. One unique feature of the dining room is the window to the kitchen, it is a fish tank. A neat tacky concept that I love and expect from this type of place however it may cut down on the seafood orders as having a fish stare you down while you eat his kin is a bit daunting.

Several of the menu items are kind of typical of Asian restaurants in Tucson. Fair. Hit or miss. But there is something amazing here, the soups. The egg drop soup is fantastic, not loaded with salt, great mushrooms. Yum! The hot and sour comes in a close second. Not very spicy, but great flavor. We've taken to ordering the soup to go and it's still great! Cheap and incredible. We are fans!

I visited this establishment last week for the first time in several years. I remembered my past dining experiences as being very positive. This time, NOT so. I ordered the shrimp in lobster sauce. Priced well. Plate piled high with food. The problem, it looked like dog food with a ton of green peas added. I picked through and ate my 5-small shrimp, one tiny egg roll and one cream puff. When the waitress finally came back over to my table and seeing my money laying there, she asked if I wanted a to-go box. I said NOOO, this was pretty bad. She completely ignored me, didn't say a word. Brought back my change and just kept walking. For the first time, honestly, evvvvvver I left a "0" tip!! By-the-way, I walked in shortly after 12-noon. There was exactly one person waiting for a to-go order and one table of two that should have been my first clue. I will never, ever return.

My husband and I have gone here for lunch and dinner several times . Service is friendly, and quick. The amount of food we get is sooo worth it. Not $$, just $ and leave satisfied. Keep this on my list!

Stumbled onto this place after a disappointing meal at another local Chinese restaurant and we were really pleased! Food portions, taste and presentation are very good. This is a family-friendly, no frills restaurant so exactly what we were looking for - we will add this to our list of favorite restaurants in the Tucson area.

I absolutely love this place!! So good!! Always fast on time and taste wonderful. I haven't had a dish I don't like. The lo mein classic but spot on in my opinion. Egg drop soup is very good too. I haven't had the chance to dine in and my review is based on their take out or delivery.

Very good hot n sour soup! And despite coming in while waitress was very busy serving a large family party, I got my food quickly. Tsao chicken was very good.

There are a lot of Asian restaurants in any city and my Tucson preferences have changed over the years. I used to go to Mayflower for a few years, then China A and New Town Buffet for awhile during which I started going here and now almost exclusively dine here especially for lunch. They have two lunch deals for around $6 that just can't be beat. And the sliced BBQ appetizer is another favorite as well as the fried BBQ pork rice. Check it out! I think you will be surprised at the quality of the food.

Not too fond of this place. Some kid was running around screaming at the top of his lungs; I guess the "Mom" or owner was wearing flip flops. Maybe that's her Culture but I don't find it appropriate to be wearing that type of footwear in the food industry. Food was okay. Had a coupon but it had too many restrictions and I felt somewhat offended. I wouldn't come here again. My pot stickers were old and microwaved.

We returned to sample the goods after a renovation. We had to work late a lot this week, so we got to eat out quite a bit as well. We were there around 7:30 pm, the only dine-in customers at that hour. We did see a lot of order-out activity, so the restaurant was quite busy despite the quiet dining room at that late hour. This restaurant is tucked into the corner of a strip shopping center on the NE side of Ina and Thornydale. They just recently reopened. The ambiance seemed nicer than its past decor, complete with two fish tanks. Since we had no idea what this restaurant's specialty might be, we chose off of their large menu. I had a craving for Pad Thai and was curious to see their rendition. Gary loves Mu Shu, so we ordered the "combo" version of the Pad Thai and Mu Shu. That meant both dishes contained chicken, beef and shrimp. They were outstanding! Both dishes had the wok char flavor which we love. The Pad Thai was made with skinny rice noodles instead of the flat wider ones. Besides that, the flavor and ingredients were delicious. The peanut toppings were roasted, adding a great flavor. Gary's Mu Shu was a generous portion and very tasty, as well. If I had to play critic, the only thing that would improve the dishes would be to cook in slightly less oil. We also ordered a large bowl of hot and sour soup, to see how Jade Garden interpreted this dish. To our surprise, it was unique and delicious and a bit on the sweet side compared to other soups of the same name. It had a distinct ginger flavor as well as a nice portion of goodies in it (tofu, pork, seaweed, bamboo, egg, etc.). You could order the large soup as a main course. We had every intention of bringing home leftovers (next day's lunch at work!), and we had plenty for another meal. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and flavor of the food. I will definitely make this restaurant a more regular place to eat on my list. I also took a menu to my nearby office, to share with employees, who were interested in new dining options for lunch!

Second visit to the Jade Garden. I am inpressed with the quality of the food and the service. There are a number of choices in and around NW Tucson but we have not found anyting better that the Jade Garden. Quality is consistant, the menu is extensive, flavors are bold, servings are large. It is everything we look for in a chinese restaraunt. We will be back.

I read the reviews on Yelp and decided to give Jade Garden a try after doing some shopping at Foothills Mall. I ordered a chef's special that had chicken, shrimp, and vegetables. When it came out of the kitchen I was a bit surprised because the dish was all of the aforementioned ingredients in a large bowl-shaped fried wonton. I was worried this was Tucson's spin on Chinese-Mexican fusion, as it looked exactly like a taco salad. Despite its suspect appearance, the food was actually pretty good. The vegetables seemed fresh and the oyster based sauced was quality. The shrimp had a slight fishy taste to it; it might not have been the freshest. Their entrees come with a side of white rice. The service was very fast and friendly. It seems like a family owned/run kind of place. I think my total with tip and tax was about $14 or $15 for just the one entree, which is slightly more than I'd expect to pay for food of that quality, but certainly not outrageous. All and all, it was an enjoyable meal. I'll probably return sometime.

Don't shoot for the authentic Chinese dishes--go straight for the General Tso's chicken. Trust me. It's AMAZING. We also ordered the Beef Hor Fun (beef with wide fried noodles), and the onions were way underdone...yuck. Egg Rolls were so-so. Limitless hot tea is really cheap ($1). Just leave the lid of the teapot open when you'd like more. Perfect on a cool Tucson night. The service was incredibly fast and friendly! For the full experience, sit by the plastic palm tree with plastic bananas. Oh yeah.

  • Shawn O.

Service and atmosphere are just sub-par, but General Tso chicken is the best in Tucson I've had thus far. Now only if they added a bit more sauce, I would give the dish 5 stars cause General Tso is boss.

I have been here before and they are consistent and good. I aways have the chop suey and this time around we tried their appetizer platter with several types of appetizers. Positive: great bbq pork, great egg rolls, the service is nice, the atmosphere is great (they have a huge fish tank with a cool eel), a huge variety on the menu Negative: I wish the chop suey had more bean sprouts, the prices are a little much

I have ordered Chinese delivery from here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The delivery is always faster than expected and the food is hot. I recommend the pad thai and orange chicken, and I usually get the crab puffs even though they're not the best. The egg rolls have an odd spice in them that I dislike, however, I know others who love them. I am giving this four stars based on food quality and delivery service. I have dined in here once and we were the only ones there, so service was great. However, I agree with other reviews that agree it needs a designer upgrade to improve ambiance.

I like this place, my husband doesn't. Therefore it evens out to a 3-star review. We came by on a night when we were the only people dining in-house. All other orders, from what we could tell, were picked up by people who ordered To-Go. That's fine by me! Anyways, I ordered tofu lo mein which I couldn't get enough of, but my husband ordered teriyaki chicken (or something to that effect) and hated it. I noticed the meat looked a little fatty, but he said it tasted "cheap" and was "completely covered in grease." Mine was good so I'd like to go back, but he says he'll never go back. Oh well. The service was great and the lady working that night took good care of us, even my husband agrees with that aspect.

  • Dawn D.

My fiance and I were pretty excited when we found a place that had great reviews that would deliver! However, when we called to place our order we were told that our location was too far away, and they would only deliver to us if we placed an order of at least $35. I didn't think that less than 8 miles was too far for delivery, especially considering how big of a city Tucson is. Their website makes no mention of a delivery radius, only an $11 order minimum. Just wanted to let others know before anyone else wastes their time trying to order from Jade Garden.

I like curling up with something yummy while watching a movie at home. Pizza gets tiresome, but Chinese never does. I always get this to go in a couple of the classic containers. I really like the family run business and give them our business every other week on avg. The father always rings me up and they are FAST. Pot Stickers!!! What is Chinese food without pot stickers? They always prepare these(6) the way I like - still sticky but with a hint of brown for that crispy part too. Take a small tear off the end of one and then drown it in the sauce untill the entire dumpling is swollen. Then jam that sucker in your mouth whole while swirling the juices that come pouring out - So good. The orange chicken is packed full in the container with an entire side of white/fried rice. The texture and taste are perfect. I cheat and use a fork, but dont tell anyone. I always have leftowver for breakfast. Nothing better than orange chicken in the morning - breakfast of champions. Random thing. I have always loved Chinese soup spoons. You know the type - plastic with a large boat and a short handle. Why do we use metal spoons? Metal conducts heat and helps burn the lips. For Xmas, my only request from my wife was a set of these plastic spoons. She got them for me. Exactly what I wanted. They even curl at the very end so they dont fall into your bowl of soup. Heavily recommended. It's the small things in life....

Pork chow mein. The pork was decent but the rest of it was pretty bad - soupy and salty. 1 1/2 rounded up to 2.

I followed someones advice and got the General Tsao's Chicken. BEST ADVICE EVER! The portions are large and came with plenty of broccoli, the sauce was spot-on, not too sweet. I wish I could come here often if I lived around this area, value is great too I think it was pretty affordable.

The order this last time was more like rubber sweet and sour chicken. Terrible like it was hours old, food wasn't hot. We got it for take out but we are only two min away. No more orders from this house.

Food is the best in Tucson, lucky to live close by! Egg Rolls are uneatable though - weird taste you can't get past, so for that and that the inside needs new booths badly, I didn't give 5-star. But beside that, food is AMAZING!!!!!

I don't think I can put into words just how happy I was to find this place. It's taken me close to year to find a decent chinese place here in Tucson since I moved away from TX. Sure, this place doesn't look a 5 star restaurant but it's comfy and I find it's quirkiness endearing. The people there were very kind and I could hear them cooking away in the kitchen on my meal. I got my food nice and hot and FULL OF FLAVOR! Everything we ordered was 100% amazing. I'm moving across town in the summer but I think we'll be making the drive over here just to eat at this restaurant.

This place has a "Grand Opening" sign, so I'm not sure what's going on since this has a lot of reviews from yesteryear. I was impressed with the number of menu choices and all within a nominal price range. The egg rolls were good, as were the dinners we enjoyed. Now the ambiance is nothing great, but clean and bright. The server did not bring us water, and we didn't ask because we weren't far from home or staying long. The only bothersome thing to me is that I am a germaphobe and I notice the waitress was wearing scrubs. I hope she did not come from a day job where she was working as a personal caregiver somewhere, wiping butt. I know, I know, they looked clean, I just thought it was an odd choice.

Their crab puffs are sooooo yummy! Couple that with some shrimp lo mein and you're in a Chinese food coma. Delivery is fast and cheap. Dining in is also pleasant. Decor is a little dated but this isn't some hipster joint. It's just plain ol' great food!

This was a good dining experience, especially for Christmas Day, when not many places are open. Seven of us went to dinner and each ordered something different. It was all good, but the meatless dishes were less flavorful than the ones with seafood or meat. I had my usual Crispy Walnut Shrimp. It was done well -- perhaps a tad over sweet, but not excessively. Other dishes we enjoyed included Sweet and Sour Pork and Broccoli Beef. They were excellent. Service was so-so, but perhaps because the kitchen was geared down for a slow evening. Some of our dinners came promptly, but others took nearly half an hour to prepare, so half the table was finished before the others got their food. I would definately go again.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
