Perfect setting in upscale desert surroundings, attentive service from our waiter David, really good breakfast fare with a touch of southwestern accent... Definitely a must if you want to have a taste of the best of the old pueblo.

GOLD is in a beautiful location, in the Westwood Look Resort. Unfortunately, we found the view to be the best part of the restaurant. We arrived at our reserved time of 7:00pm, expecting a fine dining experience. After being seated, we waited 20 minutes for a server to come by, and when she did she apologized and explained that they had just gotten a table of 25 billed and paid and out. Why that kept anybody from coming by our table was not explained. She did offer a 'round' at no charge which was nice. The server was friendly and helpful, and the food, when it came, was well done but wildly overpriced. $32 for four scallops and two, maybe three, tablespoons of a delicious risotto strikes me as too much for too little. My wife's $42 filet was unarguably delicious but nothing spectacular. Plating was very nice on both entrees. For dessert, my wife's "Opera Cake" was spectacular and delicious; my apple gallete was doughy and fairly tasteless. When we finished dessert, by which time the restaurant was empty except for three or four tables, we waited, and waited, and waited for more coffee, or the bill, or any sort of acknowledgement that we were there. When none came, we left what we figured was adequate payment and tip on the table and left. I can't imagine ever going back.

Excellent in season upscale foodie heaven. Service was good. It would be great but, was asked how I was doing on my meal a minimum of 8 times by 2 different waitress which was a bit bothersome. Wonderful views and nice, personal interaction with the Chief regarding the meal.

Went for the New Year's Even dinner. Great seating, no feeling of being "rushed" through our meal. Server had a great sense of humor and was attentive without being intrusive. Food was fabulous. The only thing that was bothersome was the addition of 20% gratuity - - automatically. For a party of two. Their menu clearly stated it would occur for parties of 6 or more, not for two. I "get" that it was a holiday and the servers were working their tails off, but I think they should have informed us that ALL bills would have an automatic 20% added to the bill. We would have tipped 20% anyway, but I just think they should "state" somewhere that it is added automatically for everyone.

3 stars being regular or average, I will give below average, but not awful. My complete hatred and udder (I'm a dairy farmer, sorry) disgust for this place stems solely from the service received and a dash of the prices vs. quantities served. I went to Gold for breakfast yesterday, had to wait 7-10 minutes for anyone to notice me and ask if I'd like coffee. Annoying. After that, things seemed fine, until I ate half my food and found a gnarly hair in my French toast. Was it my hair? I doubt it, I'm bald as crap! This hair was 3-4 inches long, something my dome doesn't produce. So I told the staff and they apologized, removed it from my bill, all was forgiven. Then today I decided to give them a second chance. Whoa nelly, big mistake. I waited what appearently is a customary 10 minutes for someone to ask me if I want coffee. By now, I want Kahlua in my coffee... I get my coffee, I know what I want to order, I wait. I wait. I watch my server take an order for someone else that arrived 5 minutes after I was seated. Awesome. I ask her who is my server, I'd like to order. She says, "oh...I can take your order. You know what you'd like?" I order French toast again, you know, giving it a second try. I ask for mixed berries (which were raspberry, blackberry, & strawberry the day before). I also add blueberry and banana to the mix. Great. Let's rock! My food arrives and I'm let down gently, "I'm sorry sir, but we're out of blueberries." Doh! I eat, and it's good. I had advised my server that I will be placing a to go order for my lovely wife before I leave. She disappears. I mean, literally, never returns. After 20+ minutes, I ask another server if I lost my waitress? They apologized, took my to go order, brought it out. I paid. I left. When I arrive back to my room with the food, what the hell is that I see on top of my wife's yogurt?!?! Blueberries! Oh, awesome guys. Out of blueberries? Her yogurt comes in a 12 oz container, filled about 1/4 of the way up with granola, 1/2 with yogurt, some blueberries sprinkled on top, and the final 1/4 filled with lucious air. Cost: $7. Got a piece of wheat toast too, cost: $3. Gold is over-priced and the service is FAR from Golden. Will never eat there again unless they turn it into a buffet so I can get what I pay for and my self-service is spectacular. Yeah!!

My father and I have been long time members of the Westward Look Resort and I, at least, have found the food in the past wanting. But the last two meals there recently were a mark above previous experiences the last few years and we found out the chef had a new supervisor who now lets him run the kitchen the way he sees fit and the outcome is excellent food. On top of that the servings are large, so the expense is really quite low if you consider you get 2 meals for one. The salmon is always a good choice at dinner time and the desert tacos a real treat, especially if you are in a sharing mode (easy to share with table of 4). I could go on, but the main point is the food quality has gone up a notch to very high quality, the prices have always been good for the portion size and the service is quite good when they aren't swamped or understaffed at the time. The chef has his own garden and I would say he's putting it to good use in increasing the quality of the food that is served. If you've had a bad experience before food wise, give them another try when in the area. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

They just updated the breakfast menu. Looking forward to trying the Tucson omelet. The service is always fantastic and the food is always served in a timely manner. I love there new layout in the Gold room. The booths, tables and chairs are much more comfortable from the old ones. I enjoy sitting on the patio - the views of Tucson are great.

We had dinner at the Gold Room and it was worth every penny. The wait staff was personable, relaxed, and attentive. We started with a scallop appetizer with a mushroom sauce and bacon, it was possibly one of the best things I've ever tasted. I ordered the duck and my husband ordered a steak. Both were amazing, but in my opinion the duck was out of this world. We finished with a chocolate creme brulee, also delicious. If we are ever in Tucson again we will make it a point to visit the Gold Room.

If you want a great view of Tucson, you'll find it here. Located on-site at the Westward Look Resort, it's a great way to start your day. We had a 3-egg omelette and a fresh fruit plate. Both were very good. The prices are what you'd expect at a resort; if you're looking for value, drive down the street to Oracle. The service was very friendly and attentive. It seems like to keep things interesting (probably more for the staff) during the summer, they have destination themes. I came during the "Barbados" themed week. Since I only came for breakfast there wasn't much Barbados that I could tell, but perhaps there were special dishes for lunch and dinner. If I stay at the Westward Look Resort in the future, I will definitely return here.

This place used to be great. It still has great views of Tucson lights and the ambiance is very nice. Food continues to be expensive, but is only average at best now. Service was poor and they changed around the dinning room and I don't like it as much. Found out after we ate here that it was bought by Wyndham.

My best breakfast of 2012 was at Gold. The huevos rancheros with fresh coffee or orange juice. On the four mornings that I ordered these huevos, the high quality of flavor and presentation were consistent. This classic mexican breakfast is served in a large, shallow bowl. I order my eggs over easy so that they're slightly crispy but the yolk can still break all over the corn tortillas and black beans. A mild chorizo is crumbled throughout and grated cheese is melted across the dish. Top with some ranchero salsa for perfection. The ingredients are proportioned so that you can have a little of each in every bite. Not greasy or soggy either, which is often the case with huevos rancheros. Breakfast is the ideal meal to eat at Gold because the sunrise viewing is magnificent and the resort hasn't filled up with other guests yet. They've got indoor seating, in booths or small tables, as well as outdoor seating, if you prefer a breeze in your hair.

If I could give 3.5 stars I would. The overall room was fantastic and would satisfy anyone wanting visually impactful scenery to accompany a dining experience. The architecture of the room was most certainly done in the spirit of the Sonoran desert and the old Southwest. I can't speak for the person that gave the restaurant low stars. I would say that the menu prices should have been 20% lower in my honest opinion however, the prices are perfectly acceptable relative to the fact that Westward Look is such a nice resort. FYI the resort can go head to head with Ritz Carlton chains anyday. And the primary reason for this is the staff at Westward Look seemed to want to make everyone feel comfortable and dispensed with any hint of snobbery. We had the potato-leek soup, portabello mushroom ravioli, caesar salad, a wedge salad and all of it was executed well. So much so that we ordered again the next night and ate in our room. Generally speaking it was a very romantic location and any couple should not have a hard time enjoying themselves in a booth (the staff gave us the center booth overlooking the wall to wall glass view of the exterior) or its outside seating.

OK but not any better than that. My pork loin was available as medium or medium-well. They should be aware that pork no longer needs to be cooked so much. For dessert, my chocolate bomb was divine. A limited by-the-bottle menu. The music was suitable for 80 year old snowbirds - very boring and uninteresting. I guess that tells me the clientèle that they are appealing to. Service was friendly. The room pleasant but didn't have much of a personality. AAA four-stars? really?

We were in Tucson for a wedding, staying at the Westward Look, and had a nice, pre-wedding get together (with the bride-to-be and groom) at Gold. They do have aces on the view of Tucson, which is worth something, but the food was middling. I can't honestly remember what I had (granted, it's been ten days), and if you it runs these prices (about $75 per person wiith drinks and tip) it should be more memorable. The staff was great, the scenery lovely, the food average. I'm torn on the overall rating - I woudn't run any one off from going to Gold, just know what you're getting when you book.

Obviously the view from the Westward Look resort is fantastic! The location of GOLD has a prime view with both a full glass dining room and large wrap around patio. We ate inside next to the window and were pleased with our table as there was a large Bat Mitzvah going on and I'm sure it was pretty loud outside with all the teenage commotion. Either way...spectacular, romantic view! The decor is modern with a large mosaic wall and cool cactus cubes on each table...very simple and nice! The wine list was well rounded with lots of great choices and very fair prices. A pleasant surprise!! The menu has some very creative options and it definitely peaked our interest! The service was very attentive and not obtrusive during our meal. Specifically, our waitress, who informed us that she was normally a breakfast waitress, was very helpful in answering our questions and if she didn't know, she was more than happy to ask on our behalf. One of the best things was, since my BF is gluten free, she had the head chef (James Wallace) come to our table and walk through every dish describing whether or not it was gluten free, how it could be altered along with his favorites! In all of our dining experiences, we have never had a chef do this! So cool and amazingly helpful! We started with the heirloom tomato and beet salad...delicious! There are a number of small gardens on the Westward Look property where the Executive Chef sources many of his vegetable and herbs, and there is no doubt many components of this dish were from the actual property. The balsamic, cotija cheese and veggies were a great combination, especially with a unique and tasty "sunflower" oil. We then had the short stack ( scallop, yellowtail and small filet) with mashed potatoes and the pork tenderloin (sub'd the caraway spaetzle for the lemon risotto). Both the presentations were beautiful, but unfortunately both the yellowtail and requested medium rare filet were a bit overcooked, plus the mashed potatoes were a bit cold. However, the pork was great and I really enjoyed the risotto! For dessert, we had a trio of creme brulee with some added fresh berries. All 3 were wonderful, with the raspberry being my favorite! All in all, this is a great addition to the Tucson dining high end options and I look forward to my next trip down so I can try some more items on the menu!!

It was the night before the day I got married and I was staying at the Westward Look Resort. This restaurant was just up the stars from my room. My friend I initially went just for drinks and ended up having dinner. The Arizona capresé and the portobello mushroom ravioli were very tasy. Their breakfast the next day was delicious as well. The service was great!
