I saw a lot of mixed reviews on here but I am courageous and decided to make my own decision! Yay for courage because my experience was delicious! If you have read any of my reviews you will know that due to my job I like efficient, quick and convenient take out. My experience here was take out so I can not comment on the servers attitude or attentiveness. I do feel compelled to comment on the fact that a yelper was upset he could not have bread before the meal. Most of your upper end establishments do not serve a basket of bread before the meal. I hope we have not become such a glutinous society that we demand all restaurants serve free food before we order our food. I digress....... I had the pasta and it was delicious. It came with meatballs that my vegetarian self get on the side and gave to my dog's. What?!......Meatballs are a great way to give them their pills :)) The pasta was perfectly sauced ( one of my favorite red sauce is from here) and held up on the 10 minute drive home. The order and pick up process was friendly and my meal was actually what I ordered when I got home and opened the bag! That was wonderful because take out is a risky game my friend. The price is more than Olive Garden but the food is waaaaaay better. Bottom line:: Food...what I had was delicious Atmosphere.....didn't experience Value......Price to portion good Price.....reasonable $$

On our second visit I had the pork tenderloin sandwich. It was also amazing. As the weather continues to cool off we plan to eat on the patio some. The food and service here is really good.

Love this place. Service is always great. I've never ordered anything that wasn't amazing. The chef remembers things too. I asked for avocados left off my sandwich once, and then forgot to ask for no avocado the next time I was in. He remembered me, and didn't put them on! Pretty amazing. That makes me feel like I'm really cared for, not just one in a herd of people. If I'm going to spend my money eating out, I want to be treated well too. Always leave the restaurant feeling great.

I decided to try the burger it wasn't worth the hype. It had potential but when I asked for my burger it came out well done. The menu online is also not what is currently served. I won't be back.

Strange odd like going to a wedding back in the 70s, and not a good wedding! This place is weird. I asked for bread and the waitress told me a piece comes with the meal i told her i wanted bread b4 the meal and she seemed to ignore me because she said the owner likes to give it with the meal ??? the food sucks!! Felt like im in my grandparents house.

After shopping at the Foothills Mall we decided to try Café Tremolo and I'm so glad we made this decision. It was absolutely delicious. It is pricy but it was so worth the price. We can't wait to go back.

One of the very, very best restaurants in Tucson, should be at the top of the list for great restaurants. Owners are wonderful people and make you feel like you are special. Just cannot say enough good things about Cafe tremolo
(5)Maureen T.
This is one of my favorite places to eat...have been eating here since it opened and I am glad they have stayed here. The shrimp...any of the shrimp dishes...are to die for. They hand pick their shrimp from someone who brings it up from Mexico and the shrimp are large and sweet. Every dish I have ordered has been great. Once a month I eat out with a group of women friends, this restaurant was my suggestion, but most everyone had eaten here before and loved it. This time was no exception. The owners are always there and love to talk about the musical theme of the restaurant. Great food at great prices...what more could you want?
(5)Joseph H.
Good food. Good service. Nice owner. Pleasant atmosphere. Great menu options. One of my favorites. This is a real undiscovered gem! Joe H.

Went to the cafe last night 7/5/14 with a fairly big group (20) Enjoyed some incredible music and conversation but waited over an hour and half to receive my dinner. I have eaten there a few times before and was pleasantly pleased but alway was in the restaurant when very few others were there. I believe the management must consider hiring some extra help for out front and in the kitchen when entertaining with music or expecting a crowd. By the time we got our salad and entree, we were so hungry. The entree was only warm so I would have to say my satisfaction was only medium. I thought about dessert but did not want to wait a half hour. Attention to our big group was very minimal. Not once did the owner come over and chat with us and thank my friend for organizing the group. The owner was too busy running tables to solidify relationships and encourage the couples to return. A few entrees were returned, and one of the patroons left. I will not be returning.

Very good food! At the mall, and wanted to try it, since I'm not a fan of the other Foothills Mall eateries. Very clean, nice service too! Good music and sound system as well!
(4)Rachel R.
Decent food, good service, and love the location! My husband and I stopped by later one night and the place was fairly empty. We were promptly greeted and seated. The only problem came early in the night, as we tried to decide what to order. We were not impressed with the menu: Pasta as an appetizer? I dunno, we were just hoping for something more. But the food we did get was good: Cheese plate and the burger, and a couple of cocktails. And the service was good! Very comfortable atmosphere as well. At the Foothills Mall, there are plenty of food choices - Give Cafe Tremolo a try!

I'm a midwesterner, raised on breaded or battered pork tenderloin sandwiches. I've searched all over for such a sandwich in Tucson. Many of the restaurants cited via online searches have closed. I visited a nice one today - Tremolo, in the Foothills Mall. I enjoyed the sandwich as well as my conversation with owner Paul, an Indiana native. Paul displays a lot of rock music memorabilia - autographed pictures and guitars. The place is spotless! You even get cloth napkins. There is a nice outdoor dining area as well as spacious indoor seating. Lunchtime service was great. I'll be back again for sure! For midwesterners - The sandwich comes with a choice of potato salad, fruit, or jicama salad. It's served on a Kaiser bun that for my thinking is a bit too much bread for the sandwich, but easily remedied.
(4)Kelli V.
If you guys are ever looking for a restaurant with a great atmosphere and good service I defiantly recommend this place located at the foothill malls. The moment I walked into the place and saw all these guitars hung on the wall signed by all these great guitarist I knew right away that this was the place for me! I had the shrimp scamp and the shrimp tasted so good and fresh! I would so go back to this place!
(5)Mark B.
Good food, very cool decor (I am a music buff in addition to being a food lover) We used to go to the Gavi's in this location and were disappointed when it closed. We hadn't tried Tremelo so when we were at Foothills running errands we decided to give it a try. We enjoyed the food but were puzzled that we appeared to be the only customers all evening. We spent an hour there and had the place to ourselves then spent an hour at the mall and when we left there were still no diners in the place. Even though the food was good, I felt the pricing was a little high for what we got, though private dining rooms tend to come at a price. ----------------- Second outing to Tremolo last night. We again had the place to ourselves. Donna ordered the burger and I had the pork tenderloin sandwich. The tenderloin covered the plate and was amazing in its simple, deliciousness. Sliced tomatos, homemade pickle slices, sliced red onions and lettuce for garnishes, on a split toasted Kaiser roll with a side of fresh fruit. A very nice meal served quickly and supported by excellent waitressing! The place started to get some more customers as we were finishing, but I am amazed that this place isn't always full.

Three of us from our office went to Cafe Tremolo for lunch today. Cafe Tremoio occupies the space Gavi had left in the Foothills Mall. Decor: The layout hasn't changed very much from when it was Gavi, except about 1/4 of the space has been dictated to a stage (a rug of the floor) and band equipment (amps, mixing boards, drums etc). The walls were decorated with guitars in cases. I assume the guitars were owned by famous musicians. During lunch there was no band playing, so I assume they play during dinner. And judging by the amount of equipment, this aint the place for a quiet dinner. Service: Only 1 server and 1 chef working lunch...which was fine since there was only 3 other tables. Menu: Very boring and uninspired. Only 1 kind of salad which you "upgrade" with things like chicken, salmon, chesse, bacon etc. The sandwich selection consisted of typical bar food sandwiches. Prices: Here is the biggest problem I had with this place. The prices were outrageous. A basic salad is $9...and once you add chicken, bacon and cheese its $13. My sandwich...a chicken club was $11 Food: After seeing the menu and prices...frankly I wasn't expecting much. But my Chicken club sandwich with Jicama slaw was delicious. The chicken was hot and juicy, the bacon crisp, and the bread was a nice buttery toasted soughdough. My co-workers salad, looked good. The serving size was about right and had lots of stuff...but come on $13 for a plain salad. Overall: My impression was Cafe Tremolo is a wannabe locals Hard Rock Cafe. The decor and theme might work if the place was more bar then restaurant. While the food was tasty and good, it was just a stepped up bar food with no real thought put into the menu.
(3)Jewell D.
Overpriced. Terrible bread. The tiramisu tasted like the 'fridge.
(2)Stephen G.
The Owner Chef touts his place: "Tucson's own Hard Rock Café but with better food." If you've ever eaten at Hard Rock, who's food is truly mediocre and uninspired, and this Café, who's food is fabulous, you'll know how true his statement is. Chef Blackwell's food is eclectic, inspired and bursting with flavor. So many wonderful choices and flavors and fair prices given the quality of the ingredients and care in preparation. Chicken Marsala that has so much flavor you'll eat the sauce with a spoon, Calamari that melts in your mouth, Dutch Cabbage that tastes like a whole new vegetable and Grass Fed Burger that bursts with so much flavor you'll never want any other kind of burger again. Dijon Shrimp, Pork Apricot and don't even get me started about the desserts. This is just the tip of the iceberg and it certainly isn't "typical bar food sandwiches," as one misguided diner observed. When have you ever had grass fed beef or an open faced grilled salmon and avocado sandwich in any bar? Or anything other that fries or another deep fried sides? Tremolo is fry-less and offers delicious Jicama Slaw, Pepper Slaw, Dilled Potato Salad, Fresh fruit. What bars offer that? This is a wonderful place for those with a palate to appreciate it.
(5)Courtney M.
So since I live around the corner I decided I should try the new Cafe Tremolo where Gavi used to be. The first thing I noticed walking in was a strange chemical smell...maybe the paint is still fresh. The second thing I noticed was the decor. Very different from Gavi but in a good way! There is music paraphernalia all over the walls and a setup for live music along one side. It seems like it might be a great place for a drink at the large bar while listening to live music one evening. I decided to try the thunderburger with the jicama slaw. I asked for my burger medium but it came out well done. At least it was still juicy though. The menu also mentions some kind of spicy sauce on the side which I didn't get...so make sure you ask for it. The jicama slaw was okay but nothing to write home about. For $10 I expect a lot more from a burger and can get much better from lots of other places in Tucson. The woman nearby had the salmon and seemed to really enjoy it. I think I need to go back for some music and to try something else. I won't be getting the burger again.
(3)Knut N.
The pork tenderloin sandwich with potato salad was huge and delicious. Just go try it out.
(5)Linda R.
This evening, I had a wonderful burger made with grass-fed beef. The sauteed mushroom appetizer was a great accompaniment. I like the guitar-oriented decor. Too bad they no longer have live music. Will definitely return for another dinner or lunch.
(5)Bonnie S.
An under appreciated restaurant that should be given a try. The menu seems not to have changed in some time, but they provide good solid meals, which are delicious, as are the nightly specials. We were there for dinner, and it was a little too dark for my preferences, but the decor is fabulous and the background music is just right.
(4)Kelley S.
If you like your food underseasoned and lukewarm (if that) then by all means, show up here and enjoy. Otherwise steer clear. I went at lunch time. My bf and I were the only customers there. I ordered salmon. It had absolutely no seasoning on it, not even regular salt or pepper. Was slightly overcooked and cold. BF ordered the chicken marsala and had the same problems; no seasoning, bland and cold. Terrible. Won't be visiting this restaurant again.

OMG!! I just came back from my NOW favorite restaurant in Tucson. We found it originally on restaurant.com and decided to try it for lunch. They have the same menu for lunch and dinner - fantastic sounding sandwiches and entrees. I had the raspberry chicken and my husband had the apricot pork loin. Each came with your choice of two sides - I got salad (very, very good and different) and broccoli and husband got salad and roasted potatoes. The sauce on each dish was wonderful! I wanted to buy a pint to take home. There was enough to dip the broccoli in and the chef said his wife dips everything - pretzels, whatever. It was a lot of food for lunch which made it even better because now I can add some brown rice and have it for dinner too. On the weekends, at night, they have live music. I just read the 8/12/2010 review and disagree completely which means you have to go judge for yourself. I would say inspired menu NOT uninspired. If you can't tell the difference between this up-style restaurant and Hard Rock Cafe enjoy McDonalds. I just wish I would have been hungry enough to have one of their great desserts. Next time!!
(5)Gooble C.
Good solid food with flair and imagination. The gingered tilapia is very good. Their desserts kick butt - every single one we've had. They do a good job at a modest price, and everything is made to order, even the side dishes. You get two sides with your entree, which is a nice change. They have entertainment about four nights a week.
