I recently got a position nearby, and I can already tell this will be my top spot for lunch! $2.78 will get you a big slice of cheese pizza, which is delicious, and a soda. Free refills too! The ownership is really nice, and the restaurant is very clean for a cheap pizza joint. Five stars!

Delicious thin pizza that belies the cheap price. Quick and easy slices or whole pizzas, plus sandwiches and loaves of garlic cheese bread with actual olive oil and garlic? What more is there to love? Oh that's right - a smiling character of a man behind the counter that seems to love his job as much as the customers love his pizza. I've been a half dozen times and the pizza is always great. I even brought the three kiddos recently and they raved about it the whole time. I think all of our eyes were bigger than our stomachs - those slices are big! But we ate them all, and some bread, and we managed to waddle out with smiles. I'll definitely be back

I used to insist that NYPD had the best pizza in Tucson (key words: used to). Not anymore. The pizza at Broadway Pizza Cafe is flavorful in sauce/cheese/crust, but they beat out NYPD because of the crust. BPC uses a brick oven, and it makes all the difference. Their price is unbeatable as well ($11 for an 18" cheese pizza!). Now one thing that even Jay (the owner) admits is that NYPD has a certain ambiance and a/c, but I can leave the ambiance and a/c when it comes to good pizza at an unbeatable price. Jay, you've won me over. I'll be back!

Incredible place and incredible pizza. In a way, i'm glad I don't live close otherwise he would be my grocery store. Yes, it's that good. Prices are awesome and food is better.

This place is awesome. The pizza is the best pizza in town and the prices are better the reasonable. The owner is so nice. Def coming here only from now on!!!

Nothing as satisfying as a simple meal that tastes oh so good..Mmmm! And you can't beat a slice and soda for $3! Atmosphere is eh. But food/$ makes up for it. Warning however, in the summer it is HOT in there. They only have fans to help simmer down the outside heat on top of their oven heat.

Awesome! And the best jokes in town are an extra bonus! Can't go wrong here. Jay makes an awesome pizza and the prices can't be beat.

Talk about the price is right! Since moving into an office nearby, I had heard the pizza here is quick and tasty. So I wandered in on a cold (for Tucson) winter's day... and my results supported both those descriptors! For $5 I got two (LARGE) slices of cheese pizza and a fountain drink. They're already made, and they run them through the oven belt again to warm them up. Pizzas are good, but greasy (so heads up, if you're the type to soak all that up with napkins). Inside is about 1/2 kitchen and 1/2 tables and chairs with a counter dividing--nothing fancy, it's all pretty straightforward. Not a romantic date spot, great for lunch or grabbing a pizza to go. It was pretty chilly inside on the day I was there, as they had the door open (but they did eventually close it). I especially appreciate all the U of A decor--BEAR DOWN. Quick, cheap, and tasty. A solid choice for local pizza on the go.

Such a cute, simple, little pizza place! Definitely a Tucson special, a secret little pocket with great food! Gotta try the chopped liver, only available from Thanksgiving - Christmas. And we love the pizza! So many good toppings and specialty pizzas to choose from. Company is family owned, huge U of A fans, and the owner is very personable and social. He loves to talk to all of his customers, and even recommended other pizza places in Tucson. Very cool guy, we will definitely be back to visit because of his great hospitality and amazing pizza, and we will recommend to all family and friends. A must visit, love this cute little pizza place.

I don't plan to ever go back. The owner is extremely rude as I was talking about a food allergy and he said "does it look like I care" ... I ordered a slice and a soda ( not bad for $3) and never answered my question and he went to the next customer. When my number came up he never called me but instead when my co-workers pizza was ready he told him to pick it up. I never ate the pizza and gave it to my coworker.

Excellent pizza made by the owner, who is also a no-nonsense and well humored guy. Ignore the bad reviews by whiners: best pizza in Tucson

Hello Folks. I want to start by saying that I feel the rating would normally be a 4 to 4.5 and since we don't have half stars, Broadway Pizza Cafe gets the fifth one. This is because I rate on Price, Quality, and Service and compare to their peers. Something about me and rating pizza...I absolutely love pizza and was always my favorite food as a kid and will never turn it down as an adult. As far as comparison goes, I will be comparing Broadway Pizza Cafe to other Pizza places I have been to like Brooklyn, New York, Mama's, NYPD, and Upper Crust. Places like Pizza Hut, Little Caesar's, Papa John's etc. are not included in the comparison because all of the places like those are NOT pizza and NOT good and just convenient and in all fairness, consistent and though may be crap, at least it's the same tasting crap every time. I don't consider myself an authority on pizza just because I like it however, I did spend the first 20 years of my life in South Jersey so I "kinda" have an idea on what it is supposed to taste like. The main guy over there is Jay and he is pretty much a solo operation with helpers but he makes ALL the pizza. That means the pizza is consistent which as you know is a problem at the other places. One day you get great customer service and great food and the next it is literally just the opposite. With Broadway Pizza Cafe on Broadway and Swan you at least get the same food and service and the price is too low for what you get. A 18 inch pie is like 10-12 bucks!!! The only problem if any would be no delivery and he closes at 8pm. Doesn't bother me because when I go to the places mentioned above I pick it up anyway. I personally like the feeling of being welcomed as opposed to the lack of service generally received from the other good places and paying less is always great. Hello...I'm paying 40% less for good food and the guy is happy to see you and the eye-roll or sigh isn't there when you order at Broadway Pizza Cafe. If your taste buds are used to corporate chain pizza I honestly don't hold it against you. There are friends of mine who prefer Pizza Hut over real pizza and it's ok because they just don't know any better. If you eat pizza here in Tucson then it won't hurt to try Broadway Pizza Cafe once and see for yourself. You will be happy you did.

Love this place! The pizza is excellent, the prices are great and the owner is friendly and remembers your name. It is the only place we ever go for pizza anymore. The ONLY downside is that they don't deliver.

This place hits it out of the park for me with it's thin and charred crust, fresh delicious toppings and stellar prices to boot! I love a good thin crust pizza with a little char, and this place nailed it. I am used to paying 20 bucks or more for a pie of this level....but a 12 inch pizza was only $ 5.05 and an 18 inch pizza is $10.10 and the 12 inch specialty pizza is only $ 7.33! Seriously my hand-stretched pizza was waaay larger than 12 inches and the box barely shut, talk about a first new world problem. I choose a medium meatball ricotta and a medium pepperoni artichoke. They slice the meatballs just right and the ricotta makes the pizza so creamy, smooth and melt in your mouth. I am not a fan of a ton of sauce and these pizzas had just the perfect amount. I adored the way the finely chopped up the artichoke! I thought my combo of pepperoni/artichoke was a pretty genius perfectly matched pairing. So. what did I pay for 2, 2 gourmet topping pies that were large, not medium in my book? 15 smackers! The specialty pie of the day is where it's at though for $7.33....they had three pies that day ie Italian sausage, peppers and caramelized onion; a Bianca with roasted garlic, ricotta, and prosciutto, and a third one that fails me at the moment. This place is not short on taste but is GREAT on your wallet. FYI it is in the shopping plaza on Broadway (Irish dance studio, Zivaz, the smokeless tobacco place, an military recruiting, barber, etc.) You can also get calzones and slices.

This is a solid New York-style slice with a thin, fairly crisp crust and a light, tangy sauce heavy on the garlic and oregano. Great sauce-to-cheese ratio, really interesting daily specials, and a great atmosphere. Food is a 4/5, but the owner Jay and the prices take the overall experience to a 5. I was raised in Boston and know NYC well--Broadway would be at home in either city. Insider tip: ask Jay about the history of the oven.

  • Steven M.

Jay is great and is a one man pizza making Army!!!! The pizza is ridiculously fantastic and cheap! Where else can you get 2 HUGE slices (with a topping each) and a drink for $5.50? Answer: NO WHERE! He loves what he does and it shows with every pizza you order. It's amazing how many pizza "aficionados" come in there and are SHOCKED to learn he isn't Italian and isn't from New York. Anyone that feels he is rude needs to lighten up. Go visit a New York pizza place and experience real rudeness, especially if you don't have your order straight!

Great neighborhood pizza. Wish they were open more, but when you're a one-man show, you gotta have a break sometime! Quality toppings and super great prices. Pick up, no delivery.

stopped in on Christmas day after the movies and found out the owner was giving out free slices...What a nice thing to do and the pizza was excellent. Definitely the same style of New York style pizza I have been looking for in Tucson and the prices are great....well worth your time

Bumping these guys up two stars. Consistently friendly and tasty, the magherita pizza is delicious, as are the custom pizzas. My first review was just a few days after they opened, and there have been some important things to update y'all on! The topping list appears to have been basically finalized, chicken, sausage, pepperoni, canadian bacon and meatball for the meats, and artichoke, black olive, caramelized onion, green chili, jalapeño, mushroom, pineapple, red onion, roasted garlic and spinach for the veggies. (Note that toppings have gone up to a dollar each, no biggie) More importantly, they are NO LONGER CASH ONLY! Plastic is now accepted. The owner is a great, friendly guy who seems to genuinely enjoy what he does - the foundation of a good restaurant, or any business for that matter. He may extend his hours when things settle down, and if he can find someone he trusts to produce good quality pies when he isn't there, which I totally respect. He also let me know that there was indeed mozzarella in the calzone, but it's a different sort than is normally used in other people's calzones, so it is much creamier and ends up coming across like ricotta. And in case you're wondering, my use of the word "Divey" in my previous review was in no way intended as an insult - it is unpretentious, you see the kitchen, you talk to the owner while he's making food, very chill atmosphere. So come check it out, you'll like it. I expect him to be around for quite a bit longer than the recent predecessors.

NEVER ORDERING FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN!! We just received the RUDEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! and get this it was from the owner, Jay. So we call in a large order and just after the first pizza order he says "i could already tell this is going to be a long phone call". Wow really? So then the very last order he doesnt have the specialty pizza, okay understandable, I asked "which topping do you not have" He replies, "its written on the board, artichokes, can we get this going" So i turn to the other person ordering the same thing and ask can you do without artichokes as the owner is blurting out "you obviously dont have your order together" So i tell him well i didnt know what you dont have when im calling in. So it ends with him saying "great i just lost a customer" so i told him just cancel the entire order. If he was busy he could have put me on hold or even call me back, instead of being so rude and rushing the order.

Pizza is great. It can sometimes take a bit longer when they're busy but well worth the wait!

Hard to spot in the strip mall at Broadway and Swan, but worth finding! HUGE piece of pie and a drink for under $4! Made fresh with quality toppings. Jay is the owner/cook and server, he's quite funny. Ask for the Disney special, ham and GREEN olives with some bell peppers.. YUMMY!

Our scooter club used this place for our Meet & Greet for a recent event. Jay was very accommodating. He has worked in the Tucson pizza biz for many years and really knows his pies. The pizza is very good and prices are amazing. I've been there twice already and I'm looking for an opportunity to go back.

Really glad we decided to stop by this place! The sign outside only reads "Pizza" so I unfortunately didnt notice it for a few years living in Tucson :(. The pizza is delicious and consistent! A Lg. Cheese is 13.00 and the specialty "Fungus Amungus (pesto and double mushrooms) was about 20.00.. quality ingredients, and the owner seems very passionate about his business! That says it all about how the food will be.. I hope this place continues to have success! Definitely worth checking out.

I stumbled upon Broadway Pizza Cafe looking to satisfy my wife's pizza craving one night. I scoured Yelp, Facebook, and the web for a menu, but couldn't find one (more on this later). I called in and ordered a large pepperoni pizza - always a safe bet. The shop is unassuming, but extremely welcoming. The inside reminds me of my neighborhood pizza parlor growing up, local sports paraphernalia on the wall, a boisterous pizza cook, and college kids in the booths. I also learned why the menu wasn't online - it was written on a chalkboard. They listed a few specialty pizzas with delicious ingredients, and that was it. The register girl confirmed my suspicion, but was surprised the menu was off of Yelp. There were a bunch of pizzas on the list I wanted to try though! The pizza was more Mediterranean than Chicago, thin but flavorful. It won us over, and we'll be back to try some more!

I dig this place for sure! The pizza is thin, crispy w just enough grease to make it glorious. If it were twice the price I'd still visit this tiny little join once a month at least. But since it IS cheap as heck and so darned tasty, I'm in there every other week. The food is good, inexpensive and quick. What tops the whole experience off is the owner.....Jay. I don't know if this guy is just playin the part or what but he's exactly the guy you expect to be behind the counter at an awesome pizza parlor. He's loud, funny and has a vast knowledge of sports (particularly UofA). Always have a good time and great food when I hit The BPC!

Biggest large pizza I have seen in a long time! The pizza was awesome and the price was amazing at $13.95! It fed our whole family! This is a small joint run by and pizzas made by the owner. It is a U of A themed hole in the wall, but a great hole in the wall. We enjoy the feel of the place, as locals come and go with everyone sharing a sense of small town familiarity. The pizza man interacts with EVERYONE as he tosses and prepares his homemade pizza masterpieces. Great place with superb pizza pie!! Ask for daily specials as they are ever changing! Best prices in town!!!

There's nothing like Broadway Pizza in Tucson, although Jay insists the best pizza place is somewhere else in Tucson - he's clearly misinformed and far too modest. The Bacio cheese is delivered fresh from heaven, daily, I'm guessing. It's the most fantastic mozzarella cheese in existence. He's nailed the crust, but you have to eat the pie fresh out of the oven so the crust is crispy! Toppings are top notch and the fact I can get a pesto pizza and avoid tomato sauce is another huge difference for me. I've had Grimaldi's, and it doesn't hold a match stick to Broadway Pizza Cafe. Jay, for the love of God and all that is Holy, raise your prices - I feel like turning myself into the police for robbing you every time I leave your place with Full Belly Syndrome (FBS).

Located in a strip mall, this place is really easy to miss. They sell pizza by the slice which is really nice when you want pizza and don't want to have a lot of leftovers. They have a 2 slice with a soda special. Each slice can have 1 topping free of charge and the rest cost additional. The pizza was pretty good, a little more greasy than I would have wanted but it's prepared fresh for you. I would go back if I was in the area and wanted pizza.

Great pizza and low price! They know how to cook pizza here! Crispy on the edges and cooked correctly throughout! In addition to the delicious pizza, they are super nice and helpful! I love this place. Please consider picking up your pizzas here and support local resteraunts! Much better food and the money stays in your community!

So many positive reviews, really? The dude's flat out RUDE. Thought maybe he was having a bad day the first time - we all have them. Turns out that was a good day. Never again. It's a big ZERO for customer service.

This is a great pizza joint. It is my favorite place in Tucson for pizza. We had the Blanco pizza (hand tossed) and it was great. Caramelized onions, roasted garlic, spinach, artichokes and mozzarella cheese on a thin crust that is cooked perfectly. Small informal restaurant with a soda machine and bottled water. Jay is friendly, efficient and the large pizza takes around 15 to 20 minutes. Around 8 or 9 tables but most of the customers get take out. Ciao
