Bread and ButterLESS Cafe!! On a recent visit when i asked the sweet server if i could get butter in place of the margarine that they serve, I was told they dont offer butter!! WTF!otherwise a good place i guess i won't be returning since i don't eat margarine as of principle. I can't believe they wouldn't at least offer butter when requested especially since u named the place bread and BUTTER cafe!!HELLO!

I've been to the Bread & Butter Cafe a few times since they moved into my neighborhood, and this seemed like a good time to update my review from 3 stars to 4. In general, I think their food is decent "breakfast diner" fare. The service, on the other hand, is great. They're friendly, attentive, and they appear to treat their regulars well. They really push the "homemade" pie, and this is the one thing I suggest you avoid. When she offered it to me "heated up", this meant "microwaved", and the pie was half hot and half very cold. The crust wasn't flaky like any homemade pie I've had. The pie I tried was rhubarb, but it lacked any rhubarb tang. It was also so bright red that I wondered if it had food coloring in the filling. Here are the other things I've tried: - Louisiana hot sausage special. Good, but since it came from the specials board, the price included coffee or tea, which are not things I drink. They don't adjust the specials price if you don't want those drinks. - Pancakes and eggs. So far, every egg I've ordered has been cooked perfectly. The pancakes were a little bit rubbery but not awful. - Minced ham with scrambled eggs. Pretty good with Cholula. Perks: Smuckers brand jelly on the tables, not a generic. Quick service. Super-friendly. Biggest downside: I think they cost a little bit more than other comparable Eastside restaurants. I only drink water, so I imagine this is worse for people who also pay for a drink. The price difference between the "specials" on the menu (which don't include a drink) and the specials on the whiteboard (which include coffee or tea) appears to be about $2.

I'm just a basic breakfast eater. You become complacent when ordering eggs. This place made my eggs perfectly and absolutely no brown. 2 eggs over medium no runny whites, it was just like it was made at home on a clean pan. Thank you

Ahhh...breakfast with my mom. So nice. And not just because she pays. Okay it is because she pays. Bread and Butter cafe is a solid breakfast and lunch joint. The restaurant is clean and open with booths, tables and a diner counter top...old timey, not divey. My mom liked that the windows were painted with a cute Halloween theme. Old people. You never know what the selling point is gonna be. I ordered chicken fried steak with country gravy, two eggs over, hash browns and wheat toast. I get the wheat toast because I feel it makes the whole meal healthy, like ordering a diet soda with my super size fries. Magic healthy. My breakfast was legit and I ate every bit. I told our waitress it was horrible though, you know, just to keep her guessing. But she knew. My mom had French toast, bacon, and a glass of tomato juice. She ate everything too. Prices are fair, and service was excellent. Coffee good and refills were on time. I hear the pie is awesome, and the lunch menu looked good too. Bread and Butter, you're a keeper. Good job!

We've been stopping by Bread and Butter for 10 plus years. The one near Columbus... Figured we'd try the new location. The tradition continues: Great service, great food, always consistent. Warning, this is not a fancy high end snooty place to eat. It is warm, welcoming and homey. Love this place! Local treasure!

Who doesn't love an all American breakfast or lunch, I love this place. I was a little hesitant at 1st because I love the original Bread and Butter, but I was not disappointed. The service rocked as always, the food was as close to my Grandmas as it could be (My Mom was and is not a stellar cook). I had the Liver and Onions this last time and a honking piece of rhubarb pie, all scrumptious! so drop on by if your like me at all you will be very pleased.

This is our 5th time here. The staff is great and food is good and fast! Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there is no children's menu.

I came here for lunch not really knowing what I wanted and wasn't really impressed when I left. The menu is American Standards and fairly short, one page for breakfast and one page for lunch/dinner. I had the meatloaf which comes with mashed potatoes and gravy, some corn(just the kernels), and a roll with butter. I ordered Iced tea to drink. It really wasn't much better than a Hungry Man TV dinner. I was still hungry after finishing but the waitress slapped the check down on my table before I could order anything else. The service was pleasant but the cook constantly calling out the waitresses name from the kitchen was annoying, this combined with the bland furniture made for a pretty ho-hum experience. On the plus side the price was ok, the glass of iced tea and meal ran me about $10 before tip.

Best breakfast place in town - at either of their 2 locations. Food is consistently good, service is friendly and the restaurants are locally owned. Best sausage gravy in town. You can't go wrong with anything you choose from the menu. And, to make things even better, you have to try their new steakhouse dinner restaurant next door - Garrett's.

Portion of food is right for the price. Not the best decor inside the restaurant. Service was nice but our server was trying to get us out faster than letting us take our time. Food was ok, not as amazing as Biscuits but good. Over all I would like to give a 3 1/2 stars.

Another Tucson favorite! Good service, Good down home food and just Good people, period. We used to go the this one on 22nd and Alvernon but now go to 22nd and Harrison which is closer to our house. Ask for Laurie, one of the best servers in Tucson and I've followed her to every resturant she's gone to work because I know my order will be correct, timely and pleasant. It's a MUST STOP on a bucket list of things to do and places to eat in Tucson.

Five minutes to get food! Server was great, so was the breakfast. This THE place for breakfast!

I had heard of Bread and Butter Cafe before but had never made it out to their location on 22nd and Alvernon but as soon as I saw they were opening a location on the East side I was very excited. They opened Monday and already seem to have great service and a good customer base. Normally you expect a few kinks that need to be worked out with a new location but we didn't experience any. The staff was great. Very friendly and welcoming. The food is your typical diner breakfast and it isn't a fancy organic farm to table place but all the ingredients were very fresh which I was happy about. I also am pretty content anytime I can order a single pancake along side my breakfast! The coffee was delicious and refills were plentiful. A good tip is that the daily specials also include coffee or tea at no additional cost but at $1.69 I'm not complaining about paying for it along with my omelet. The restaurant is adorable with cute little country breakfast decorations and has lots of roomy booths as well as tables for larger parties. They have a nice breakfast bar to sit at as well. This is such a convenient location for me and I'm thrilled to have another option besides the Village in across the way. Welcome to the East Side Bread and Butter, we're happy to have you!

Love love love local places like this! So tired of Village Inn and IHOP here on east side. Fast service even on Sunday and food is great. Good coffee too, nice and strong and pleanty of it.

Love this place. So glad the new location is practically in our back yard. We will be there frequently. The service is fast, the people are friendly and the food is always good. The hard part is deciding what to have as there are several things on the menu that I really like. You feel welcome there.

Best breakfast place in town. Great staff with several fresh choices. Desserts are all made fresh daily
(5)Christina H.
Excellent value and service. Basic food very tasty. Two hot cakes 3 pieces of bacon and 2 eggs for 6.25. Hubby had a fish sandwich and cole slaw for 5.85. Nothing fancy but good value for breakfast and lunch.

If you want to know what grease, butter, and oil tastes like, I guess this is your place. Otherwise, don't waste your time. You couldn't taste any of the chicken fried steak between being covered in mediocre at best gravy and and being deep fried. Hash browns were as bland as possible and so were the eggs. I guess the good news is that they can manage to scramble some eggs. The sourdough toast tasted like nothing but oil as well. They're only getting two stars because the place was clean and the waitress was friendly. I won't be returning.

Amazing breakfast, speedy service, friendly staff and a comfortable environment. Our favorite breakfast restaurant. Biscuits and gravy ROCK!!!! Chicken fried steak is great, home fries are awesome. I would highly recommend!!!! Have been here several times and never once had an issue. Huge portion sizes, I always feel full!! We love bread and butter cafe!! Keep up the great work. Thanks for an wonderful filling breakfast with great staff!!!

Just a good solid American breakfast. Fast and friendly service, cups were always full, food was well prepared and tasted fresh. Only had breakfast type food, but my gf had the chicken fried steak which was good, but said the mashed potatoes were pretty bland.

Although the name says bread and butter they have no butter pancakes without butter toast without butter what can I say

PROS: Food was all prepared perfectly, price wasn't bad, love that they have daily specials, homemade pies, staff was very attentive and polite. I seen somebody complain about the pie but we tried the peach and banana cream and enjoyed both. CONS: I might have to edit this later after trying them a couple of more times because our first time there we didn't have any. OVERALL: I will be frequenting them again. Nice little stop after a Target trip :)

Very clean, fast service, friendly, has "specials", home baked cinnamon rolls and pies, and good coffee. Today I ordered an egg over easy and it was barely cooked with runny white. Did not eat it. But most of the time everything is good. Guess it depends on whoa is cooking. I can't quite give it 5 stars for that reason. But I will go back as it is a good little café.

Down to earth, old school feel. Great service. Clean. Food is ok. Nothing stands out to be great.

My husband had a day off so we decided to change up the regular routine and go out for breakfast. Bread & Butter Cafe recently opened up in our neighborhood so we headed over. The place was pretty busy when we arrived. We decided to sit at the counter, there was plenty of space there. The wait staff were all hustling and bustling. We we're waited on promptly and served coffee quickly. Our food came out hot and perfectly cooked. We will definitely recommend and return to this convenient little cafe.

Went here for brunch today with my Mom as part of our normal Sunday outting. Place was packed! Was quoted a wait time to be seated of approx 15-20 mins, but it was barely 10 mins before we got our table. Service was awesome! Very friendly waitress & drinks were promptly refilled etc. just a good local restaurant with very good food! Would definitely come here again, U should too :)

These lady severs mean business! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and told to pick my own seat which was nice. We sat down and immediately our server was there prepared to take a drink order. She brought the drinks right away and filled the coffee. Throughout our visit all of the waitresses seemed attentive and filled coffees, even at tables that they weren't serving. The menu had an extensive selection for breakfast and was organized well. The prices were good as well. The food came quickly just the way we ordered it. The potatoes were okay. I must admit that places that serve food that isn't seasoned is my pet peeve. The potatoes were not seasoned but cooked well. If you season french fries you have to season hash browns and home fries. The eggs were a perfect over-medium and the corned beef hash was cooked well and from the can, (the only way to eat it!) Others with me ordered an omelet and pancakes and they were good as well. Overall the experience was great but if you are looking for a cozy place to enjoy an slow breakfast I would make other plans. They definitely pump people in and out to optimize business. I really liked the counter and stools, it gave the place an old-school diner effect. If I were to be picky, the decor didn't match the layout at all. The fake hanging plants and "crafty" signage and chotchkies stifled this unique diner look. I also saw a handwritten sign that said, "No business meetings" which I thought was strange. It was next to another sign that said, "$5 charge for whining." I think they went a little overboard with the signs. A cool spot with the family owned feel and great service. The tables, ketchup containers and menus were clean. I would go back and recommend it to a friend.

My first visit here was quite fun, as I am a big fan of diners that have a small time feel to them. This place was busy but the service was excellent and there's coffee in pots everywhere you look. They make their own pies? Note to self: return for home made pie soon. I ordered up a Huevo's Rancheros and loved it! Runny eggs, a HUGE tortilla, beans, and a very spicy sauce (they have a mild too) and made for such good food. My dad ate up corned beef hash with toast. This is good eatin at a super reasonable price!

We ordered lunch. The mediocre lunch was made up for by a delicious cookie dough pie a la mode. I may come back for breakfast, which hopefully receives more effort than their lunches which tasted like canned green beans, boxed mashed potatoes, canned chicken salad, and all entirely unseasoned. Bland and boring. Why the three stars? Clean, friendly, edible if overly plain, and AMAZING pie. Next time I shall plant myself on a bar stool and eat just pie.

Love this place, definitely quaint and by no means is that a bad thing. Always better than the "chains", nothing like a little local eatery to start off your day.
