Kept hearing great things about Bazil's from my co workers but never went. I walked in yesterday to place an order and the service was fantastic. They were patient while I figured out what to order and offered some suggestions. The turkey sausage is made in the restaurant so I decided to give it a try and it was fabulous! I ate too much and it was definitely worth it! The pizza crust has a thin crust crispiness but a hand tossed crust thickness, very pleased! The only disappointment was they do not accept debit cards or credit cards; cash or check only. I haven't owned a check book in years but thankfully my friend did. Definitely coming back (with cash next time).

CASH ONLY!!!!! Ordered the green Chile chicken pizza (which I would have never ordered without my friends saying its their fav) and LOVED IT. Interesting combo but it works!

Good pizza at this place - especially the sauce which was rich and even a little sweet. Good flavor and a fair amount of cheese to it. Crust was great by me. Cash or checks only - that was a bummer, but overall - decent pizza as Tucson goes. Thumbs up!

I have been a regular customer for 8 years. But as of late the service as well as the food has been been sub par. I ordered this evening and I was told it would be over an hour for PICK UP. Called back and the women who answered the phone could not give a rats ass about why I was canceling my order and was very rude. There is no food worth waiting for (especially these guys) that period of time. Get your crap together over there. Your food is on the down and your service sucks. Maybe you should consider expanding. But I guess when you're making the money who cares about the food quality and the service!!!!!!! Hope you're around next year. What a shame............. I will never refer to my large client base again. Thanks Bazil's

Sub standard fare at high price! My order was incomplete and chicken was overcooked and rubbery!

Went to Bazil's tonight and was quite underwhelmed after reading the other reviews. When we got there, the restaurant was 20% capacity, but we were advised we'd have to wait 10-15 minutes so the servers could catch up. Not sure what they were catching up to. So I rate restaurants on three areas: Service: Poor--took 30 minutes to place an order, another 30 to receive our food. It took me 20 minutes to even get a beer. Food quality: The toppings on the pizza's were excellent!! The crust was horrid. Granted, I'm a pizza snob, but boboli crusts would have been an upgrade. It was the hard cracker crust like you find in Toledo, Ohio. Reminds you of Bisquick. The toppings and sauce were great--I found myself skinning the pizza. I would rate the toppings a 9 and the crust a 1 for a whopping 4 average. 1 hour in the kitchen and I could show them basic pizza crust--at least from NJ. Overall feel--kind of dark, dungeony. Think, torture chamber of the Bastille meets restaurant--initially, we were going to eat there, but elected to leave--darkness of the place gave me the creeps--so we go the pizza to go.

What a wonderful take out with such a great menu!! Everything from appetizers to dessert. Try the antipasto salad. It is amazing. A true explosion of flavor in your mouth. The tiramisu is the best ever. Service was fast, very friendly !! Love this take out when no cooking is in sight!!

After hearing some rave reviews about Bazil's pizza, I found it to be a colossal disappointment. The reviewer who described it as being "pizza on a cracker" is spot on. Bland, tasteless crust, same with the sauce and pepperoni. The facility itself was clean, and the employees were friendly, but I certainly didn't care whatsoever for their pizza. Rocco's Pizza is my favorite in Tucson.

Really good pizza at a decent price. It's really worth a try. I highly recommend the sausage and caramelized onion. They hand make their sausage and it's really good. It's pick up only and last I went, they only accepted cash. Everyone was very friendly and even though it was takeout only it was really worth it.

Bazils totally surprised me and hit the spot tonight! I think the last time I ate Bazils was like 5 years ago, and tonight, I simply did not want to lift a finger and the only place close enougn to deliver was Bazils so I gave them a shot. For a small pizza with cheese and Canadian Bacon, and a small Ceasar Salad, it was only 15.50! Plus delivery was free! The Pizza was super tasty, thin crackerlike crust, but it was quite flavorful. The cheese to sauce ratio was perfect. I'm usually afraid to order salads from delivery pizza joints because its usually browned iceberg lettuce with packaged dressing, but not at Bazils my friends! The romaine lettuce was super fresh and crisp, topped with finely sliced red onion, croutons, and parm. The dressing was totally homemade and more like a Caesar vinaigrette, which I thought was delicious! FYI: Bazils serves southern Chicago style pizza, which explains the thin crust and putting the cheese over all the toppings. It's yummy! Bazils, you're officially back on my radar!

So was talking to someone who said he was not fan of Bazils- when I asked why, he said he really liked the pizza but could not handle the way they are cut into squares and not classic pizza slices. So there you go. To me, it all gets mushed up pretty quick once it gets inside my mouth so the shape going in is not a deal breaker. To each his own.

My favorite pizza is ham and green olives and my husband loves sausage with caramelized onion. At Bazil's we get a half and half and they make it to perfection! They deliver in a timely manner and the drivers are always courteous and the food is piping hot! The anti-pasta salad is to die for! They aren't chintzy with the dressing either, I always have enough so I can make some more salad at home during the week. Love love! By the way, the pasta is also delicious. My husband loves their clam pasta and I love the spaghetti and meatballs. Just like mama used to make!

To bad they don't tell you on the phone before you drive 20min that they only take cash, otherwise I could review their food. Not friendly to new customers.

Great pizza. Fast service. Yum! Wish they would open before 4:00, but the pizza is so good I suppose I can wait!

I used to get Bazils Pizza in Chicago. Bazils has the best pizza in Tucson!!! Max uses the best ingredients, best mozzarella, and it's always perfect. Max Bazil is one of the nicest owners I know. He gives Foothills teens the opportunity to make money, teaches them responsibility, and these kids learn the business. The restaurant is fantastic! Max's mom and His wife Sandy run the dining room. Great Italian food and the newly remodeled bar is awesome. Brazil's is a Tucson tradition, you'll love it!!! Robert Taylor

So I just didn't want to cook tonight and when that feeling occurs we usually call Pizza Hut and get our usual large pizza with sausage and onion which I consider just pretty decent. I live right at Swan and Sunrise and I called ahead to place my usual order and lo and behold the phone no. was disconnected. This can't be. I certainly don't want to cook at 5.00 PM. I frantically called some other Pizza Hut and one of them said that the new Walgreen's has purchased their property for a parking lot. The sheer nerve of them to do this ungodly thing. What to do now, panic sets in and then I briefly remembered about 20 years ago I ordered a pizza from Bazil's and at that time it was so so. Being that I live walking distance from said restaurant I dropped this place out of my radar. That is my stubbornness when it comes to food. I was in a jam now so Bazils was starting to sound good to me. I checked out their take out menu on the web and it really sounded like it just might work for us tonight. We ordered the large half sausage and half onion. OMG it is total Nirvana. You even just go thru a take out window. Now I have enough left over for at least one more meal. Well I guess that Walgreen's really needed that Pizza Hut for a parking lot. So now I really found perfection in one of the best pizzas This is now my favorite Pizza in Tucson hands down.

Although they say they deliver to the foothills and I definitely live in Catalina Foothills#7, they would not deliver to my house. Seriously, I am 5 minutes away from this place. So I guess I'll never know how good or bad the pizza is because if I have to go out, it sure want be for their pizza. Thank goodness for Magpies

We were staying at the Loews and order Pizza to be delivered. It took over 1 hour to be delivered, tasted like cardboard (we ordered 3 different kinds). Overcooked, couldn't even identify the ingredients. Never again.

I was a guest at Loews Ventana Canyon where some pizzas were ordered. Took 50 minutes to get there. The crust was like cardboard, the sauce was sour and overloaded with basil, the toppings few and overcooked to boot. Sure hope I'm not subjected to them again.

No idea who is bringing them business. We live in the Catalina Foothills and decided to try a non-chain for pizza delivery. I called and ordered mozzarella sticks, and a pizza with various toppings, including chicken. When I asked for chicken, I was first told "We don't do that." When I asked why, I was put on hold. Then she came back and told me my pizza was going to be $27. I asked her why and she told me that was what it cost. If you look on the menu, the pizzas are all around $15 or less... finally, I asked to speak to a manager once my conversation with her was clear to be fruitless. The manager was extremely rude to me when I asked why my pizza was suddenly $27. He told me that that was the "final cost." I said that I had calculated it to be around $19 and if he could please tell me exactly what was driving the cost up so much. After cutting me off several times, he finally admitted that he was charging me $7 FOR CHICKEN. When I asked how the f chicken could be a surcharge of $7 when the rest of of the toppings were $1 or $1.50, he told me that it wasn't included in those topping lists. I looked at the menu and realized he was right. First of all, why would I pay $7 for rubbery pebbles of chicken, anyway? Second, why is a standard pizza topping not allowed without extreme hassle at Bazil's? And third, why wouldn't they just tell me in the beginning that the chicken was going to be $7? The whole ordeal it felt like they were pulling prices out of their ass. In the beginning, all they had to say was, "Chicken is not a standard topping, so it will be $7 additional, is that ok?" Instead of giving me the run around and treating me like scum. (Not that I agree with such a ridiculous price in the first place, but whatever.) Despite feeling humiliated by my treatment by the manager, I went ahead and paid the ridiculous cost to try their pizza. It got to me over an hour later, cold. The mozz sticks were the greasiest, nastiest mozz sticks I've ever eaten. Guess Bazil's succeeded in giving me the middle finger they had obviously been dying to give me since the minute I dialed their number. Why did I never call in and tell the business how I felt about their treatment of me? Well, if they employ managers with that attitude, I'm sure the owners don't care about my complaint. And anyway, it's not like I'm ever ordering from them again. If you're looking for non-chain pizza delivery in the Foothills, Shlomo & Vito's is the way to go. Forget this anti-customer service "business."

Our family's favorite pizza in Tucson. We drive way out of our way to get it. I love the thin crust and sauce. I have picky kids and they all love this pizza. Bazil's To Go is great!

  • RJames H.

Bazil's has been my go to pizza/pasta place for years. I make a pretty mean pizza at home on the grill but when I'm running short of time and in the mood for a good pie, I'll call Bazil's. Two favorites include the chicken, cheddar, green chile pizza and the 5 cheese roasted red pepper pizza. Additionally, the rolled eggplant is fantastic with the tomato-onion cheese bread. Salads are always fresh, and the homemade red wine vinaigrette dressing is delicious. This locally owned business is a great asset at the NE corner of Swan and Sunrise.

Once again the choice of Bazils pizza for dinner was excellent. The chicken wings , and home made dressing were great. I recommend the pepperoni & garlic anytime. For any of you that are looking for a good dinner, and are treating yourself to something great try bazils!!! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, and we love that we are supporting a local business . :))

Excellent Pizza! Glad the chain across the street left (not sure we need a walgreen's though, good luck to CVS) so we eat at Bazil's To Go more often. The pizza has a thin but thick enough crust with ample toppings and seasoned with oregano just right! Keep it up Bazil's to go, just make sure the prices don't get too much higher! A nice sized pizza with two toppings for $10 is perfect for this couple:)

I love basil's to go! Great pizza, personally I like it even more when it's cold. Great hard working staff. Best delivery pizza you will find in the swan/sunrise area!

Great pizza for delivery or carryout. There is no eat in. Great staff, and the hardest working pizza shop owner around, plus excellent pizza make this a family favorite. Only suggestion -- order your pizza "well-done."

Best pizza in town and a good contender for other towns. Love the bar, which is a great place to eat the pizza. It's got the perfect ambience for a good fella to be found.

Once again Bazils to go provides the best pizza in town. Fresh toppings including homemade sausage and fresh roasted green chilis. Best Ceasar salad around. I wish I lived within delivery range, I'd eat it twice a week!

First and last time I'm going to Bazil's. Ordered two pizzas for pick up. Went to pick them up and as impressed how busy they were. Got the pizza home and all excitement disappeared. I have two 16inch pizzas sliced up in to 2inch by 2inch squares. It looked ridiculous. The crust of the pizza is that of a saltine cracker. Thin, dry and brittle. They must be so busy because there is no competition around. When you are the only one selling pizza you don't need to provide quality or delight. I did find the people to be nice. The guy with the huge two handle knife in his hands destroying the pizzas was good host. I did feel they appreciated my business. The pizza was just really bad.

Great food! Sometimes a long wait, but it's understandable so be sure to call enough in advance if you're in a rush for your food! I have had their pizza, salads & sandwiches and have always been impressed. The customer service is great. Cash Only!

Bazil's to go is perfect for those nights when you don't feel like cooking, but want something tasty and reasonably priced. If Bazil's to go is in your neighborhood, you are going to be a happy camper! I discovered this place about 9 years ago when I first moved to the foothills. My favorite pizza is the Bazil's special, which has roasted red peppers, sausage, onions, and mushrooms. The choices of pizza toppings is amazing, and their thin crust is their trademark. Try adding spinach to the Bazil's special- delicioso! Sometimes you want something other than pizza, and Bazil's also has a great menu for pasta dishes to go. My three favorites are Ravioli (cheese with red sauce for $8), Rolled Eggplant (filled with ricotta cheese, melted mozzarella, and topped with marinara sauce for $9.50), and the Lasagna, which has lots of cheese and seasoned ground beef ($9.50). These entrees are enough to split, and (if we aren't getting pizza), we'll get 3 of them and share. The Caesar salad ($5.50) and the garlic bread ($4.50) are the perfect complements. Mmmm... Mangia! Be advised, they don't take credit cards. Cash or check only. They do deliver, but since it's close to my house, I usually opt for carry out.

Wow, it looks like Leo here has never experienced the wonder of "thin crust" pizza?! For your information a lot of amazing pizza is thin crust, and Bazil's tops them as one of the best. OK now to the point: Bazil's is delicious. Thin crust pizza cut into squares with sauce that is the best I've had in all of my pizza eating years. I always order extra sauce. This is a cash only take out joint. I don't live in Tucson anymore, but I'm going home for the holidays and I'm planning out when I'll fit in my requisite Bazil's fix. It's that good.

I loved the atmosphere. I like to feel like I could be hanging out with Tony Soprano and this place has private quiet booths and the food is good. The price is a bit spendy.

Good pizza pie, sometime they under cook it though.

  • Sal K.

Best pizza Ever! I love the bazil's special and also the shrimp with artichoke. It's different from the usual pizza and they have peppers underneath the cheese with the sauce. Even leftovers are excellent the next day!

  • Leo B.

OK, I recently had a piece of Bazil's pizza at a friend's house. I was awful. I truly think the crust was made from a cracker. I truly cannot tell you anything else about the pizza. The crust disturbed me to such an extent that I just could not taste anything else. Why would one do that to pizza?

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
