I have eaten here well over a hundred times over the years. All I can say is the food is excellent. Never once have I had a bad meal. I have had APE burgers that weren't my cup of tea, but the quality is unmatched. My one complaint is that burgers at most other restaurants just taste boring and unsatisfying. The bar has been set unreasonably high. Damn you Chef Adam, Damn you too heck!

Food was amazing and service was fast and friendly. The menu did not have a kids menu but they had kids entree, which the kids loved. Great place to eat when you are in the area.

What a great place! My buddy and I skipped The Steak Out down the road with their notoriously mediocre food and faux cowboy ambiance in favor of The Cafe for one of best burgers you will find anywhere, great specials (see my picture) and spot-on service. This place reminded me of a place I might find in the San Francisco Bay Area but with the strong Arizona accent that we all love. Well done!

Very tasty and reasonably priced. We stopped by here on the way back from Patagonia Lake. Hamburger was nice and juicy and had a great chicken tortilla soup! Definitely would recommend coming again.

I am completely overriding my entire review of The Cafe and adding a star because of how great Adam's business model is turning out to be. I admit, I was not 100% impressed with this place because of the food and some of the service, but it also turns out there was a little bit of an issue with my memory and interpretation of that night. Just goes to show you how important it is to not only communicate directly with the restaurant but also write your review in a timely manner. So, shame on me and I am at 100% fault. That being said, I have been in communication with the restaurant directly and I have to say the level of professionalism and care for their passion is amazing! I started with a salad and a tomato soup. The tomato soup was to die for and we literally licked that bowl clean. I had the chicken marsala for dinner and this was where I had issues with the food. I don't even want to tell you them anymore because I feel ashamed of not speaking with someone before exiting the restaurant. From here on out, let me just focus on how great Adam is and the people he has working with him. I cannot wait to go back and give this place a second try because I now have even more respect for a small business owner trying to do his own thing in his own way and have a staff that is just as excited about everything as he is. I hope everyone takes my falter as an education point and really thinks about the backgrounds of these small businesses and what drives them and really thinks twice about doing what I did. I cannot wait to go back and try the food again and maybe meet more of the staff.

Love this place! Every time I eat here, it's great! Reasonable prices, interesting menu and daily specials. Good beer and wine selection too. The desserts are all homemade too! Great views of the mountains and grasslands. Patio dining also available. The staff is super friendly as well.

I selected the surprise burger, the menu claimed that no two burgers where the same and the chef would create something special. After telling the waiter that I wanted a party to my mouth. I got a burger that represented who I was. It was like the chef had known me all my life and made the perfect burger: kalmata olives, cooked spinach, caramelized onions, and hearts of artichokes. Spectacular! I drove 1.15 hours from Tuscon and it was worth it!

Nice sceneries out window while waiting for meal. Cheeseburgers were delicious and gluten free bread/buns are available, as well as dedicated fryer for French fries. We got lucky and arrived during happy hour. 3 cheeseburgers, sides appetizer, two cokes, and a margarita came to under $25! Great deal!

Way out in Sonoita, who knew they could cook. Had the loaded onion burger...**** Loved a half of the steak and blue salad. Delicious delicious delicious Good brownie to boot!

Absolutely fabulous dinner. On my sons advice I had the burger, which was incredible advice. My parents live here and we went to dinner tonight with the baby. She had the chicken strips and french fries and three of us had burgers and one had fish and chips. All were wonderful and the service is always top notch.

My Fiancé and I decided to go to The Cafe for our Valentine's Dinner to celebrate the occasion while she was in town (Sierra Vista). We have been out to Sonoita several times doing wine tours, however, we had never been to The Cafe. The Cafe was offering a great Valentines Day menu with reservations being recommended. So, I did make a reservation online via their website. When we showed up our reservation had fell between the cracks and we were not on this list. I completely understand this happens sometimes. We sat down at the ver nice bar area and ate off of the regular menu. I had the 16oz Prime Rib (medium rare - excellent) and my fiancé had the Bacon Alfredo with Chicken, which was also excellent. The staff at The Cafe were very kind and apologetic at the mistake that had been made. At the end of dinner, they took care of our drinks, salad and dessert for us. I am not the kind of person to look for a free dinner, but I feel as if they "made it right" by taking care of some of the bill and insisting that I take a box of dessert home. I will not hesitate to go back to this wonderful restaurant and it is worth stopping in at if you are traveling through the area or live in Sierra Vista or any other near by towns for that matter.

Went on a Friday night for two salads to go. Southwest chicken and Greek. Got the three berry pie as well for my wife. Great! My wife went back the next day for two more slices of pie. We will be back.

Excellent place to stop for a bite! Staff was very friendly and service was great. Burger was prepared perfectly medium-well!

I must admit, I was expecting The Cafe to be quite mediocre. Everything else was closed after we finished some wine tastings in the area, so we ended up here, and we were not disappointed. The $5 happy hour menu was great. Everyone's burgers were excellent, the quesadilla was terrific, and both the sweet potato and zucchini fries were very well done. In a very remote place, but if you're in the area, this is a good stop to make.

What a great place! Stopped in at this Cafe rolling through town as it was the first place we saw. Good wine and good service rather than waiting quite some time to get our check after we finished desert. My girlfriend and I both ordered the APE Burger which is there signature item on the menu. You basically tell them what you don't want on the burger and whether or not you like spicy, and the cook creates! Both of our burgers were outstanding with premium ingredients. Her burger even had apples on it which actually made for an interesting mixture with it being spicy as well. We were both open to the idea that these may have been the best burgers we've ever tasted. We had key lime pie for desert and it was most definitely a 5 star desert. While this little town has few options for lunch, there's no questions this place is a must! I'd drive out of my way to eat there again.

We just happened to drive by and saw the parking lot was packed, so it must be good. We were pleasantly surprised and had a great lunch. Service was great, chicken salads were yummy! Very clean and nice. A great place to stop!
(5)Denise M.
Great burgers. Large juicy and tasty! Good salads. Only complaint there was no outdoor seating and a staff member started to give us a hard time about bringing in our service dog stating "No dogs allowed even service dogs" Then a manager came by and told her it was ok.
(4)Pelita M.
The food was out of this world amazing! Classic ingredients but somehow they make it a very unique experience! 100% would go again!
(5)Dom L.
Very tasty food and a good value. The staff is friendly and attentive. We were too full for dessert. Love they offer local wines.
(5)Trudie B.
Stopped for lunch before doing the local wineries. It was hot, tasty and filling. I had the 3 cheese sandwich with green chilies and the chardonnay chicken soup. We shared their key lime pie for dessert. Best we ever had! Would definitely come here from Tucson again!

It's impressive, and surprising, coming to Sonoita these days. So many great restaurants, such variety, such high quality fare for such a small little country town. And The Cafe is right up there with the best. No question, the best burger anywhere in the county, if not the state. Big, thick, juicy, delicious - cooked precisely as ordered. And the fries were perfectly done - crispy, flavorful, not too salty. But don't get the wrong impression, this isn't a bikers' diner. They have a really diverse, somewhat upscale menu - salads and appetizers, good main dishes of all kinds, excellent wines. Very pleasant atmosphere, comfy seating - good for families, good for couples, good for bikers too! And - the prices are surprisingly reasonable, considering the value.

The green chili cheese burger is the bomb burger .. I was surprised as we are in Timbuk 50!
(4)Jenni L.
This little cafe is just about the only place in Sonoita to grab a bite to eat and I must say their quality is quite good. It seems like a nice little family run joint with lots of windows to overlook the Sonoita wine country. I ate here recently after a wine tasting and was impressed the Eggplant parm was a well cooked eggplant (not mushy) and a good amount of quality parmesan cheese. I will definitely be back the next time I'm tasting wine!
(4)Mark S.
This unassuming cafe is worth your stop. Chef Adam is a local boy with a dream. The BBQ fried chicken sandwich was outstanding. I highly recommend this place if you ever find yourself in Sonoita,AZ hungry.
(4)Debbie C.
Having passed this restaurant many times on motorcycle trips we finally stopped and tried The Cafe. It was amazing! Service was excellent, food was generous and very good quality and the prices were reasonable. About $7.00 for a great burger. I had the Tuna Melt. It was delicious. Fries are hot and crispy. Another couple in our group had the Sunday Brunch and they said it was excellent. The restaurant decor is wonderful, cozy and clean. Highly recommend The Cafe.

So delicious! We went here on the suggestion of a local. I'm vegan and my omnivore husband is super picky, so it was a treat to find a place that #1 had something he wanted on the menu and #2 was completely unphased by my dietary restrictions. I ordered the APE burger (no two are alike!), and ended up with the most delicious, inspired portabello burger. It was definitely a hit with both of us. We will be coming back next time we're in Sonoita. :)

OMGoodness! We went here at the suggestion of a local. We were in town for wine tasting and needed a power lunch to keep going. This place has great service and fantastic food! They mostly serve sandwiches and a few salads. I had a half pound burger - smothered in cheese, chile and deliciousness. I was salavating as I was eating this thing! It was shared among the group and had a similar reaction thru-out. I also tasted the potato salad which was about as to die for! This place was so amazing, I will probably just drive out to Sonoita for a fun lunch!

We have been to The Cafe several times and our meals have been consistently excellent. The hamburgers are perhaps the best in Arizona: hand formed, tender, cooked to a perfect doneness and if you wish, a great assortment of toppings. The lightly smoked salmon that I had for dinner last week was superb. The restaurant is worth the drive, and the drive from Tucson is one of Arizona's scenic drives. We love The Cafe for lunch or dinner

After visiting Dos Cabezas winery tasting room, a bit past noon, I asked for a recommendation for lunch. Kelly said I should try The Cafe. Glad I asked. There was wonderful service, a nicely limited and excellent menu, clean and well lit space. I really could not have asked for more. Except maybe an upgrade on the coffee.......but then I come from Seattle a long time ago.

The best food in Cochise county! Adam Puckel and his staff have made this a destination for great food, superb wines and a good time. This locale also hosts food pairings with local wineries, music nights and other events that fill the cafe with a great mix of local cowboys, Tucson hipsters, Patagonia foodies, Sierra Vista retirees and Ft Huachuca soldiers that make for a eclectic mix of humanity. Bigfoot is known to frequent, with his Chupacabra, (it is pet friendly) and space aliens, grays in particular from Beta Reticuli, land in the back pasture, behind the building, and come into enjoy the black and blue salad, a fine selection of craft beers (both local and national) and lovingly strummed covers of classic Hank Williams and Lefty Frizzell. Zeke, a local prospector adds color to the location with Chester the Beer drinking mule, who gladly guzzles beer and wine on command, after a hard day of eking out a living from the nearby whetstone mountains. Celebrities like Lionel Richey, Ru Paul, the guy who wasn't Tom Hanks in Bosom Buddies all stop by, when they're in town to enjoy the Smothered Chicken, great wine and spin yarns about Hollyweird. But, the best is for last: the apple pie!! Truly the best apple pie I've ever eaten anywhere, anytime, any day! This explains all the extraterrestrial, crypto-zoological and celebrity sightings at the cafe! Don't walk, run to the Cafe!!!

We ate lunch here on our wine tour. LARGE chili burger that was truly delicious. We split the burger and both had plenty. Friendly staff, nice outside seating and good food. Would definitely go there again. A great stop on your wine tasting tour.

We were headed to Sierra Vista from Tucson and decided to take the scenic route through Sonoita. I haven't been there in a few years and wasn't sure what our lunch options might be. And of course I didn't think to check Yelp until we were driving through an area with no cell service. We pulled into The Cafe and thought we'd walk the dogs first, then go in. Unfortunately it was about 40 degrees and windy and the dogs were having none of it. The door to the restaurant opens and the gal who ended up being our server stuck her head out and offered to seat us on the patio so the dogs could be with us. Nice! Such customer service. We said no because the dogs were shivering too much and figured they'd be happier in the warm car. And because we didn't see any heaters on the patio. Still it was great that the staff was looking out for us. In we go and are seated quickly and also by a portable heater, which I much appreciated. The menu is small but everything sounded delicious. There were also three specials and I decided to have the fried chicken breast on a croissant. It had some spicy mayo and was just wonderful. The chicken breast was juicy and obviously had just been fried and the croissant was toasted just enough to have some crunch and not get soggy. My husband ordered the chioptle burger and loved it. I had a bite and it was very, very good. Not terribly spicy hot. Here's hoping The Cafe is still around the next time we're in Sonoita. I wish we could have stayed longer and maybe had some local wine but we had to get to Sierra Vista for an appointment.

Great food and fantastic service. I totally recommend this restaurant.

Now simply called 'the cafe' and under new management since December. Adam is new owner and cook. Clean and nice comfortable atmosphere. Fries were crisp and tasty. Coleslaw is homemade and tasty. Burgers were great. Juicy and cooked as ordered. Dinners range 10 to 16 dollars. Adam came out to make sure all was well. Great view of plains and mountains. Stopped here after going to Kartchner Caverns and visiting local wineries

Delightful place! We stopped in for lunch on our way to visit the local wineries. The spicy tomato bisque was tasty. The grilled cheese sandwiches with pesto were made with a hearty bread. Good variety of options on the menu.

Glad we stopped by the Cafe in Sonoita for a quick lunch while passing through. I'm a burger guy and loved the fresh handcrafted burger and my wife enjoyed the special, a chicken and Brie croissant sandwich. Nice find south of Tucson on a relaxing drive on a sunny day.

Went to Sonoita/Patagonia 1/21/13. Toured Patagonia twice looking for a place to have lunch but there was nowhere open which looked like it would offer anything edible. Headed back to Sonoita but no restaurants were open til we stumbled on the Cafe. By then I didn't expect much but we were delightfully surprised. The black 'n blu salad was perfect. All of the greens, including on side salads, were crisp and fresh. Homemade burgers were quite tasty although medium was a trifle medium rare. Grilled cheese sandwich with pesto was wonderful. I will be back next time I am in Sonoita. Very attractive decor as well.
