We stop to eat at Sweet Darlene's every time we're in the area. We like being able to sit with other people and hear their stories. The food is really good. The steaks and hamburgers are our favorites! And also the fish fry on Friday night is delicious!! You'd better get in line early and don't become discouraged. If you're in a hurry, this is not the place to be. Just slow down, enjoy the company and some homemade meals! Wave at Darlene if you see her; she's almost always there!

Typical American food. Nothing amazing, but not bad either. I had heard the Friday Fish Night was good, but I wasn't here on a Friday.

A place to eat, no big deal! Middle of the road, looks like a meeting hall more than a restaurant. Not good, not bad.

Seven of us decided to visit Sweet Darlene's for breakfast. When we order breakfast we aren't particularly fond of being served food that has been precooked and left to sit and get cold and especially breakfast foods. That appeared to be the routine here as food obviously had to have been precooked. The hash browns and toast weren't just warm. They were cold and I do mean cold. Even the omelet had to be put back in the microwave. We weren't sure how long the hash browns, toast and meats were cooked ahead of time but in order to be that cold we knew that they hadn't just been cooked. They had to have been sitting for a mighty long time. The eggs were nice - not cooked as ordered but they had been freshly cooked. Another location we won't be getting our wallets out at in the future. Waitress delivered about 4 of us. Then she went off and took some more orders before she delivered a cinnamon roll to another one at our table. After that the other two got their orders of cold food. The 5 star review from previous reviewer just has to be a farce. All of his reviews are 4 and 5 stars. Do people get paid for posting to Yelp?

We went the other day for lunch, as another reviewer stated "service was horribly slow" and I mean HORRIBLY! I did have a decent Chinese chicken salad and the hubby had a Reuben which he loved. So the food wasn't bad but the atmosphere and service were LESS than pleasant. I had to ask for water about 4 times and the waitress kept walking by and telling me she forgot... The place is one big room filled with long cafeteria type tables that different groups are sitting at. Don't think we'll be back...

Food is cheap.....you get what you pay for. Service is at a snails pace. food taste is below average. Pies are OK.

Weird: my fiance and a friend of ours went to Darlene's yesterday and the food was OK--------at worst. I'd eat there again.

Great slaw. We buy it in bulk. Poor chicken. Service is horribly slow.

I've eaten here twice. No complaints. Sweet Darlene's is Quartzsite distilled. Quartzsite has a world-class gem and mineral show attracting hundreds of thousands of vendors and customers. A healthy percentage of Quartzsite's population is the ubiquitous snowbird. You know them, show up after Labor Day for Arizona's balmy days, out by Memorial Day, running from the heat faster than roadrunners chase snakes and lizards. Darlene's is a snowbird restaurant. A giant steel building with a kitchen on the east side, cavernous dining room loaded with folding and stacking tables covered with checked plastic table cloths, and plastic stacking chairs. The tables and chairs get put away, the kitchen summerized, and Darlene's sleeps sweetly through the snake days of summer. Its unique and weirdly attractive. Like Quartzsite. Like the polka music you may hear played late at night from the local radio station as you drive by on Interstate 10. For me, it's a must. Oh yes, speaking of driving I-10 late at night. At 2:30 AM one early April morn, I encountered a herd of deer crossing the highway. I was on cruise, the deer I thought was a pack of coyotes weren't. My reactions were slow. I clipped the hindquarters of one animal. The Department of Public Safety Officer said the closest deer were 35 miles away. A truck driver of the highest human character followed and protected us with his rig nearly all the way home to Phoenix at our top speed of 45 MPH. The non-existent deer damage repair cost $3,200.00.

This place is much bigger than it looks from the outside. Come in and seat yourself. Everything is homemade and fantastic. Very homey and plenty of food too. Our waitress was phenomenal to watch. Here's this older lady, moving quickly, with a tray laden with 6 individual dinners! Didnt spill a thing. We will definitely come back here next time we're in Quartzsite.

We went there and we had good service but, it took almost an hour to get our food! And my granddaughter is a diabetic so that didn't help at all! But the waitress at least brought her a piece of toast.

The place does not look great from the outside but they make up for it in service and delicious food. All homemade and it's the best. The soup is the best I have had and I am a real soup lover. Also, the deserts are great. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive.

Obviously these critics haven't been to Darlene's for Friday's Fish night. In January people start lining up at 4:00. It's packed! This is part of the Quartzsite experience!

Very casual place, mostly long tables and mixed seating. Food is OK. Get you desserts somewhere else. Pies have a little filling and lots of whipped cream topping.
