I took my wife here for the Teppan Yaki show and it was awesome! Fantastic food and one great show! We will certainly go again!

They used to be great at the old Gurley St. location. Went to the new Iron Springs location and sat at the sushi bar for a half hour. Never saw our server or a menu so we left without eating.

New location on Iron Springs just opened. Sushi still great, service needs improvement. Restaurant is spacious but lacks warmth and character. Salmon sashimi and soft shell crab spider roll well presented and full of flavor. Service at sushi bar poor. Had to ask for ice for weak ice tea and had to ask for more tea. No liquor license yet. Newly occupied old restaurant and noticed cut in vinyl chair. Now go for the food.

Have been to new location twice. The inside is nicely decorated. My sushi eating friends report the sushi is OK, heavy on the rice. However, service is quite slow and unorganized. Sat at the sushi bar and watched as my chicken dish sat in the window for nearly 15 minutes getting cold. Many servers walked up to, looked at it and just STOOD there. They would not bother to seek my server or to walk the 10 feet to bring it to me. Very poor service. Finally, the waitress saw it and brought it over. Cold and gummy. I sent it back and asked for removal from the bill. They did not remove the entire charge! They charged me 30% of the total price for the small salad and small cup of soup I ate that was part of my meal. The appetizer we ordered made its way out after all other food was finished. They need a food runner or expo person. Not impressed, very sad but seems to be typical for Prescott. Too bad, they will miss out on my future business.

Hands down best meal I've had in a while. I had no problems with the service. They were very friendly and quick. I was seated with my girl friend shortly after arriving and my order did not take them long after we decided what to get. The owner was walking from table to table checking to make sure the meals were exactly what the customers ordered (something you won't always see). It was very clean. I was very impressed and astonished to find this "diamond in the rough". Very unexpected to find this level of quality Japanese in a small town like Prescott. I would recommend it to anyone considering to try it out. I read the other reviews shortly after our meal and was very surprised as I didn't have any issues. If you're considering it I highly recommend trying the experience yourself. If I had read the other reviews I probably would have never gone and defiantly missed out on a great meal.

This has got to be one of the worst service experiences I have had in Prescott. The restaurant was very cold and lacked any personality. Although clean, there was a very sterile feel to the area. Outside was a different story... There is overgrown weeds taking over the walk way and porch, as well as a couple different water hoses that were strung out haphazardly on the sidewalk. In efforts to maybe sustain their business they opened prematurely, the tepan grill is not yet open and there is no liquor licence. This could be well overlooked if the staff was trained better. It took 15 minutes after being sat to receive our drinks. Food for my husband came out way later than when mine was served. The sushi rolls we ordered were very basic- Vegas and shrimp tempura, however were good. My husband added a chicken teriyaki plate, which was overly dry and too salty. After both of us stared at the plate for about 15 minutes our server finally asked how it was. He took 70% off the chicken teriyaki plate, however empathy would of gone a long way and maybe more attention from him. We saw way more of the nervous host who kept our drinks refilled than we did our actual server. I can't say that we will be back anytime soon. Overall just an awkward experience.

Well.. I have been to the old location and wasn't very impressed. After hearing about the new location, my wife and I decided to come for dinner. It is still under construction, so there are some things lacking. There isn't a waiting area yet, so patrons have to stand in the hallway while waiting to be seated. Everything is new and clean, which is a plus. We ordered calamari, which was ok.. The sauce was good. Then we ordered salmon and yellowtail nigiri which was ok as well. We tried the rouge roll, gecko roll, and the sunburst roll. The gecko was my favorite. The rouge was ok, and the sunburst wasn't so great... The topping of spicy tuna was almost puréed, giving it a mushy texture. We finished with baked green mussels which could have done without the sweet sauce. The service needs some work but all employees were very polite. Even the owner came over and asked us how things were. We asked that our food not be delivered all at once so that we could enjoy it leisurely. Well.. After the nigiri, all the rolls came within 2 minutes. I think they just need some fine tuning and this could be an outstanding establishment. A OK.

We went to the new Esoji for the first time tonight and were impressed. Prompt service, friendly and helpful wait staff, excellent food. We had planned on a leisurely dinner for my husband's birthday, and we were almost disappointed that the food came so quickly. Of course, part of the reason that we weren't there as long as expected was because they don't have their liquor license yet, so we skipped the warm saki for my husband and glass of wine for me that we would have had. The restaurant is quite nicely decorated Japanese style and has a lovely ambiance (something that is sadly lacking in many Prescott restaurants). I didn't find it cold at all as a previous reviewer had said. There are three areas - the teppanyaki area for what I refer to as Benihana style dinners, the sushi bar, and the main dining room. We ate in the main dining room. We'll be back - would love it if they would open for lunch.

Went to the new location for teppan dinner; note that this review is ONLY for our teppan experience. We were seated quickly but then waited over 30 minutes for a chef to start our meal...we were moments from leaving when the chef finally arrived. The restaurant was not busy so we could not understand the delay. Dinner was mediocre - chicken was okay, tofu was not good (undercooked and cold in the middle). No liquor license yet. Service needs improvement. We waited about 2 months since the new location opened and hoped everything would be in good order...they still need a lot of improvement.

Esoji is a totally delicious restaurant. My father and I go as often as we can and always find the food and the service to be excellent. The new location is pretty far from downtown which is a bummer but it's really nice and clean inside. Awesome sushi!

We are here right now, the four of us. We were seated and ignored for fifteen minutes. Then our waiter approached and asked in a surly manner if we were ready to order. This was a nice experience when it was on Gurley, but the service is abysmal and it's not worth waiting to be treated with no respect or gratitude for patronage.

Waited an hour and a half for dinner, never saw our appetizer in that time. Finally left and went next door.
