I went last night and had the fillet with Gorgonzola and mushroom ravioli. It was very good and well worth it. They also had great beer and wine selection with great service.

We went last night and had a great time. We had Stuffed Mushroom appetizer and the white wine sauce was sooo good, it was perfect with the mushroom or used to dip your bread in. I had the Shrimp Scampi, it was ok but I think the garlic could be cooked a bit longer... the pasta however was cooked perfectly al dente. My hubby had the Pasta Michelangelo and it was really good! The cream sauce was to die for... I had more of his pasta than mine. The service was efficient and our host was very charming. We arrived early at 5:40 and already 4 tables were filled, I'm assuming it gets busy as the night goes on. They did have a good selection of wine and we had a bottle with dinner. I would say the price is on the high side but if you're looking for a sit down dinner place that doesn't involve pizza or wings...it's well worth it. I would recommend this place and would definitely be back.

If I had rated the Pasta House over the last 4 years since we discovered it, my rating would have been much higher. Went last night since we had not been for awhile and it was terrible. The marinara red wine sauce was watery and way over done with garlic, and I love garlic. My wife ordered the chef special filet with mushroom ravioli's and supposedly a light cream sauce... The sauce ultra rich and way too creamy, there were only 3 small ravioli's and the filet was just okay...this special was $32 and not close to worth it. Probably won't go back since it is about a 30 minute drive and the new Italian restaurant in Show Low is pretty good (Kolachi's) and it is 5 minutes away and much less expensive.

Went there 1-14-2012: Wow very pleased with my experience here this year. I had the Salmon Special cooked to perfection. My husband had the Chicken Pamesian, he was very please with it, but compared to the Salmon Special it had no chance. We also had the Butternut Squash Appetizer that was wonderful. The texture and spices were just perfect. Can't wait to go back.

Ok..not great. Went tonight based on a tip from a friend and the food wa just OK. I would say quality similar to Olive Garden with steakhouse prices. Minus the one rude server ( who ended up being the owner) the service was decent, but not worth the trip or price. Go to Venti pizzeria instead. Food is awesome and the staff is friendly. Not to mention much more kid friendly.

The food is on par with higher end Italian restaurants in major metropolitan areas. I had Veal Saltimbucco and my wife had mushroom stuffed ravioli with basil creme sauce. Everything is home made and very yummy.

It took me nearly a year living here before we finally tried The Pasta House. Had heard some unusual things about the owner which sort of kept me away. Had family in for dinner and opted to give it a try and was nicely surprised. Good pasta, good service, clean restaurant.

Yum! Best place in town. They aren't open early in the week. I wish they were. This is my "treat myself" place.

Perhaps this place couldn't live up to its hype. We thought average at best. Off our list for sure. Over use of kraft parmesan cheese in the Caesar salad and ziti pasta. Chicken piccatta was in about 3/4 inch of lemon caper water...yuck. lasagna was good, chicken parm was ok.

  • Chibi C.

The complementary bread that they offer is nice. The food is mediocre; I would compare the quality to a little less than olive garden (and I am no fan of olive garden). The prices where pretty high. Overall, I do not think the food was worth the price.

We were in Pinetop and in the mood for Italian food. We had eaten take-out from the other place down the street and knew the food was good, but as soon as we walked in to that place, we knew we were looking for a little more atmosphere, so we kept looking. A few miles and a few Yelp reviews later, we found the Pasta House. The Pasta House is a small house of a restaurant and can feel a little crowded, however the staff was very attentive (it's hard to ignore customers in such a small space) and the food was great! We were seated at the last two-top in the place which was fantastic because we were starving! Started of with some wine and then moved on to choose our food. That night the were having a fantastic dinner special; fillet with wild mushroom ravioli and your (my) choice of a Gorgonzola cream sauce or Chianti mushroom sauce. I'm a sucker for anything Gorgonzola and for any red wine sauce and I'm a bit obsessed with mushrooms these days, so this sounded perfect! Just hearing the description made my mouth water. I couldn't decide between the sauces, so I asked for the Gorgonzola sauce on the plate and the Chianti sauce on the side. And something about naming the type of wine made it sound even more delicious than just regular "red wine" sauce. Overall, I would rank this as one of my top 5 favorite meals of all time. So rich and delicious, everything tasted perfect and every bite melted in my mouth! The food wasn't cheap, but it was worth every penny. I can't say that I'll go back *every* time I'm in Pinetop, however, I *can* say that if I am in Pinetop and looking for a nice splurge of a meal, Pasta House will be my go-to spot!

Gracious owner and staff, super service, great martinis and wine selection. From the appetizers (we had calamari fritti and stuffed mushrooms) to the salads (Caesars all around) to the entrees (Veal Saltimbocca, Halibut Provencal and Filet with Gorgonzola Sauce) everything was excellent. Too stuffed for dessert! Funny, but for a small town, i was surprised to see this place did not get busy on a Friday night until after 8 pm. Then they were packed!

We always eat at Pasta House for our 'nice dinner' when we visit Pinetop. Food is always great...

Four years ago my husband and enjoyed the Pasta House and couldn't wait to go back this year and try it again. We were sorry that we did. First of all since the restaurant is only open 4 hours per day we were rushed by the numerous servers to make our choices and order. The bread was delicious, so was the garden salad and the wine we ordered. It went downhill after that. My husband had the filet with wild mushroom ravioli and Gorgonzola. The ravioli was cold and tasteless. The filet was cooked well but had too much Gorgonzola so it overpowered the dish. I had the veal and shrimp. There were 2 shrimp and a very thin 4 by 4 inch strip of veal. Covered in way too many garlic slices. I scraped most of them off. The sauce was good. The side was spaghetti with a bland red sauce. Dessert was a banana foster. The bottom consisted of brown sugar that was grainy like it had just been spooned into the glass. It had a few banana slices and ice cream on top. We would have said something to the servers but they were too busy rushing people through their food. What a disappointment. Do not recommend.

The Pasta House is our favorite restaurant. We go at least twice a month. The lobster ravioli is delicious. The baraised beef ravioli is a must. You must have in the White Mountains.

Lovely evening out with my husband. I had a glass of Malbec, he had his favorite beer. Scrumptious food and comfortable atmosphere.

I have eaten at some of the best steak restaurants in Phoenix including maestro's, Dominic's etc. the fillet at pasta house rivals them easily. I love the food. As for the owner, she has been great to me but frankly who cares? I go there for the food.

We went Valentine's night the wait was about 45 minutes, but well worth it. Even though the place was packed the service was on the ball! We didn't have to wait very long to get our drinks. We ordered the Chicken Jerusalem and Combo pasta dinner. All the food tasted great and fresh including the bread. Will definitely return when in the area and recommend this restaurant to others.

Yes, it's expensive. Yes, it's often packed and they don't take reservations. (Go week nights) Yes, the parking is often full. Yes, the food makes it all worthwhile!

I really love the Pasta House! My wife and I try to go there at least once a month. We really love the Owner and feel like she is very personable and remembers you. The food is so great and is reasonably priced! You need to try their pizza as it is so much better than any other pizza that claims they are New York Style! Give this restaurant a chance! It has such a great intimate feel. In fact, we are going there tonight!

I get a kick out of reading other people's reviews and since a couple of them did not have nice things to say about the owner, we all wanted to see what was so bad. Well, in our opinion, there was not. We were smart enough to wait until after the dinner rush because when heading back to the hotel, the place was overflowing with people waiting. A good sign, indeed. We were quickly seated by the hostess when we arrived, as well as quickly greeted once we sat. There were only a few tables still full and the house turned restaurant was another cozy feeling place to enjoy dinner with friends. Although I am not a raving Italian fan (I love it but my jeans do not), I was intrigued by a review of a seasoned Yelper saying that the filet special was in her Top 5 of all time dishes. Needless to say I got the filet and it was as perfect as described and better. The price didn't rattle me like it has others who reviewed it BUT a good filet comes with a price..suck it up, my fellow yelpers. The additional help aside from the server included a busser, and the owner (she was pleasant, I thought) but there was some miscommunication in some instances since they would sometimes ask us, in separate instances, if we needed or received something.....not a bad thing, but noted. All of the dishes were amazing, and the only bottle of Malbec on the menu was perfect for our meal. The bread kept coming, the coffee was fresh, and overall it was more than what we expected which was nice. Unless I am missing something when it comes to expectations of restaurants in this town, then I am all ears for other options. I am willing to bet that there are less than a half dozen solid choices here in Pinetop and am assuming that this place will be at the top.

Had a fabulous dinner at The Pasta House Saturday evening! The Lobster ravioli starter was luscious with a light basil cream sauce, had to use the crunchy garlic bread to sop up every last bit :-) The salads were served on cold plates, and the lettuce was crispy too. Based on a previous review of the Gorgonzola Filet with the wild Mushroom ravioli, we just had to order it, and were we all very happy! Melt in your mouth medium rare filet mignon, creamy sauce with Gorgonzola crumbles on top, decadent! Great service, good wine, Good times!!

I don't even know where to begin... Bad service, bad food, overpriced! We were seated in the rear room next to the kitchen door, it felt like the whole floor was going to collapse when the staff went back and forth through the room, so distracting and loud. We sat for 20 minutes before any one even asked if we were ready to order, no bread, nothing, and there were only two other tables with guests. The food... although the portions were generous the flavor couldn't save them. The minestrone soup tasted like pure black pepper, it was so bad it was almost comical. We ordered the fettucini alfredo (bland and greasy), baked ziti (doable but not great), and the cheese ravioli (bland), also a side of gnocchi that was inedible, it was literally swimming in marinara and tasted stale. The wait staff was friendly, when they acknowledged us. We ordered three entrees and two sides, NO alcohol, and our bill was $98.00. Needless to say, the next time we pass through we will not be eating at Pasta House.

I will not be going back Pasta House. I had the filet which came with 3 ravoli no vegetables and the kicker it was $32. I do not mind paying 32. dollars if the meal is outstanding. The owner took our order screwed up and then tried to plan my husband by the time he got his order I was done with my 3 ravioli . My husband 's sauce was undercooked. How do confuse red wine sauce for clam linguini?

After a poor food experience a year ago, we joined some friends on Sat evening (their choice). We knew that they didn't take reservations but arrived early (6:30pm) and were advised that the wait would be 20-25 minutes (a reasonable wait time and a chance for a glass of wine in their minuscule lobby since they don't have a bar). After a wait of 75 minutes, we headed down the road to Charlie Clarke's. No restaurant is worth standing shoulder-to-shoulder in the lobby for an hour and a quarter. BTW:The owner is rude to the point of being obnoxious. NEVER AGAIN (emphasis is mine) however it matches numerous comments from others re their displeasure with the Pasta House.

the food is ok, the owner is so rude that those that have met her will never dine here

We had a great dinner here with my parents and two young children. They don't offer any kids meals, but they were nice enough to split a plate of spagetti and meatballs for my two kids. All entrees come with a dinner salad, and they bring fresh garlic bread to the table too. The place is small and has a nice setup with glasses on the table when you sit down, which makes it feel a little more formal than regular. Most pasta dishes are $13.95, but they also offer gourmet specials and fish dishes too. The tomato sauce on the pasta was great. The place is very small and I hear that it fills up quickly. Try to get there early.

Had been in Pinetop for a week & wanted a nice dinner for our last night. Didn't know what to expect, but went to Pasta House. Food was excellent from appetizers to dessert. Wait staff helpful, friendly and fun. Just sorry we couldn't have gone more often. Highly recommend this place!

In recent visit to the White Mountain area, visited pasta house twice. Both times both the food and service were great! Ravioli and mushroom apps great! Chicken Marsala and braised beef ravioli were superb! Leave room for desert! Banana's foster and chocolate decadent... YUM!

I'm not a friend of the owner, nor from the area. But have been coming to our family cabin in Pinetop for years and years. Anyway, this place is close by and my wife loves Italian food. We were greeted at the door and seated right away. It's Wednesday. 6pm, Fairly busy, attracts mostly 40-60 year old crowd. 1 server, 1 person running around filling up drinks and free garlic bread. Another person bringing out the food. I ordered the chicken Parmesan. The wife, chicken Alfredo. Chicken parm was a bit soggy.... Came out a little greasy from the red sauce separating from the grease. But, it was really delicious and tasted good. I would just prefer a little more crunch to the breading on the chicken, lighter on the cheese and less sauce. Chicken Alfredo was lacking garlic. But that's cause we are garlic freaks and we make our homemade Alfredo sauce with lots and lots of garlic, but the garlic bread made up for it, so it worked. Still would recommend more garlic in it Huge portions! Don't fill up on free garlic bread. Be patient and wait for the food or you won't finish. Trust me Place is a bit pricey. Place is clean, cute and very comfy Service can get a little behind when busy, but overall we had a great experience, only spent 35 dollars cause we are cheap! We will go back, will recommend.

I'm Italian and have had my fair share of Italian food apart from family cooking. This place is legit. Well executed and fantastic flavors. Perhaps more important, the service was stellar. We came up to Pine Top for the weekend, had just got settled, and was ready for dinner like an hour ago- you know how that goes. We purchased the stuffed mushrooms in white wine sauce, veal parmesan, and baked ziti which came with salad and garlic bread. 15 minutes flat and our order was in my hands. I am not sure I've experienced that before especially when patience is already waning. Pasta House runs a tight ship. I respect that just as much as their delicious food.

Food was average, at best, and for a couple, downright bad. Some plates tasted like microwaved dinners. Additionally, the owner DOES NOT know her wine and was insulting to several of my guests at our table. The irony is that she was smug about her comment about wine....yet as a wine collector myself and my guests all understood that she had no idea what she was talking about. I suspect that he only reason this place stays in business is because of the limited choices in Pinetop and her personal friends writing positive reviews If you want to take your chances on what may likely be a poor experience, then give this restaurant a shot.

Given the decidedly mixed reviews we read here on yelp, we chose pasta house for dinner last night with a bit of trepidation. But really, start to finish we were quite pleased with both the food and the service. Calamari was just ok, a bit greasy and chewy. Salads were all fresh and good and large enough that none of us actually finished them. Two of us had Veal Parma. The Parma on top was abundant and perfectly metered with just a bit of a crunchy top. One person had chicken Jerusalem, large portion and she said it was delicious. Another had chicken florentine, again, she loved it. Banana Foster and cheesecake shared around the table for desert. And a very good limoncello to top off the evening. Would definitely recommend

My boyfriend and I went to the pasta house for dinner and we enjoyed it very much. Great service! The food was excellent. We had the mushrooms for and appetizer and split the chicken Marsala which was fantastic. We had the banana foster which was amazing! I would recommend this place for sure

At first it seemed like it was going to be a pretentious, small restaurant, but it turned out to be a very nice Italian restaurant. Even though we didn't try the wine, it seemed like they had a very nice wine list. The staff was friendly and attentive, The food was delectable. I ordered the special of filet mignon with gorgonzola sauce. It was cooked to perfection. The waitress seemed a little disappointed that I ordered water with my meal, but who wants the extra calories and caffeine (from iced tea) for dinner. I usually save that for dessert! My husband ordered chicken parmigiana that it tasted really good too (we usually try each other's plates). Their sauce tastes like homemade sauce... delicious! For dessert my husband got the white chocolate crème brûlée and I ordered spumoni ice cream. His was really, really good! I highly recommend it! Mine unfortunately tasted like Dreyer's Spumoni ice cream, so I was a little disappointed, since it costs almost $9.00 and for less than that I can buy a whole carton of ice cream. :( I've gotten spumoni from other Italian restaurants that tasted better, and it cost less. I think they could still sell spumoni, but not at $8.50 for a serving. That was my only complaint and the reason for the 4 stars. Also because the waitress that served us was not very personable. I believe that if you are in the service industry you should like people. She didn't seem to like people, but nevertheless she was prompt with bringing things to the table.

Cute place, good service and decent portions. The pasta house makes their own pasta so the noodle texture is a little different than dried pasta. I had the chicken marsala and it was great but thought it was weird the dish was not served over pasta. Also I have never been to an Italian restaurant the did not have bruchetta or caprese salad.

This is the best place in Pinetop. The food is amazing. I have grown up around some very good Italian restaurants, and am Italian myself--- Pasta House is worth the money and ... often the wait!

The food was fabulous, but the service was extraordinary. I wish I would have gotten the waiters name, but he topped any waiter I have ever had. He was a young man with impeccable manners. I would return just to see him...and eat the pasta : )

  • Amanda L.

It's been too long since I had eggplant parmesan as good as this. The atmosphere is classy, the wait is long but completely worth it. The menu items are pricy, but one dish will probably constitute two meals (I just finished my leftovers.) The authenticity makes it entirely worth it. If you're in Pinetop and looking for somewhere to eat Italian food or to take someone on a nice dinner date, definitely come here. Heads up, though. Don't bring your cell phone inside. It's a cultural thing and considered to be very rude if you are on your cell phone at any time during dinner at this restaurant.

Yes Randy, I will meet you at the Pasta House Randy. No, we won't talk about work. The reviews on Pasta House are bi-polar. We had dinner on a good night. Good company makes good meals too. We sat next to a wall-covering wine rack with what looked like lots of variety. Wine was ordered, I didn't partake. I saw on TV that Utzi the 5,000 year old Alpine glacier mummy had plaque and hardening of the arteries. My rational-izing mind said, "Clogged arteries are NOT a modern ailment. I'll have the filet with gorgonzola sauce please." I haven't eaten hugely all week long, so this meal was a big one for me. I haven't eaten steak since???? My rational-izing mind also found many events to celebrate. The bread was a not-too-buttered parsley sprinklrd white roll. The basket would get down a slice or two, then return full again. There were four rounds of bread refills. That was good, because I had some bread with every course but dessert. Ice cream sandwich? Thank you, no. The soup was fine. Veggie-loaded minestrone. Not like Aunt Ida's, but what minestrone is? The house salad was fresh, mixed lettuces with a quarter of ripe, bright red tomato. I don't go too many places you can cut a steak with a fork. I could almost do that here. That little filet was marbled nicely and aged very well. It was the tenderest, best tasting best steak I've eaten for a long time. The gorgonzola sauce made the main course a tarantella dance on my palate. Yes, there were four mushroom-stuffed ravioli, but they were made fresh and very good dredged through the sauce. Spumoni is not a common ice cream these days. The serving, medium large, was fresh, and enjoyable with the medium roast coffee. I don't eat Italian a lot, steak is not on my plate much either. You can do lots worse in many Western Italian eateries. Be advised, you will pay a higher price for food and drink here. I also went a little menu-crazy tonight. If I ever break away from town with Sweet D, I might bring her by for some low lights, good service, and fresh food.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
