I have traveled the US and the world quite a bit. As the son of a Frenchman, I can safely say that the greatest croissants in the world are in France. After dining at Ollie Vaughn's I'm happy to report to the yelp world that I can tell you where the best croissants outside of France can be consumed. I really really like their French toast. It's excellent. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a homemade French toast. But, Holy crap that breakfast sandwich is amazing. It is an elite piece of art that belongs in a museum of breakfast sandwiches (which I assume would be in France) This place is a small location that makes food from fresh ingredients, to order. So understand when you come to eat here that this isn't Denny's where your food is almost ready to eat before you order it from their crappy corporate food-o-matic machine. I hesitate to post this review, as I don't want to have to wait in a line around the building to eat here....but they do such amazing work, that they deserve to be that busy. Eat here, your tummy and your heart will be happy and thank you for it.

Love love love! The owner is so awesome! I'm a picky eater and always requesting a few changes on the menu and they never turn me down! Baked items are fantastic! All handmade soups and baked goods. They uses top notch ingredients and the actual inside is set up so cute and clean! Huge back patio with fresh herbs and citrus tress. So cozy! Only thing they need is a espresso machine, but the tea and coffee they do have is pretty good.

Awesome little find in Central Phoenix! Adorable interior and a very relaxed vibe, both with the employees and patrons. Looked like they have a nice outdoor patio but I didn't check it out. Ordered the biscuits and gravy and was slightly disappointed by how milky the gravy was but I am guessing they had to quickly make more gravy or extend the little bit of gravy they had left. Other than being too milky it had really good flavor and the biscuits were friggin fantastic! It was a good amount of food too! Took a bite of my daughters croissant and it was delish! Real croissant flaky numminess, not the crap you get from grocery stores. Had lots of other yummy looking sandwiches and treats and I will definitely be back!

Nice, hip, calm atmosphere w some plant life and covered patio out back. Was in the area (not my part of town) and stopped to get a coffee before work. Great place!

Outstanding place for lunch! Every sandwich I've tried has been delicious. Great ingredients, creative food, and well made. You also can't go wrong with the pastries and desserts. I especially love their lemon bars, which have a creative twist with an ever so slightly rose flavored shortbread crust. Great place and something this neighborhood really needed.

Adorable ambiance & quality food. Lemonade is made from actual lemons, is really tart... and addictive! Their pastries are wonderful & the ingredients are legit. I'd love longer hours & espresso... but, I know that may change what they are going for. And what they are is great!

After attempting to visit Ollie Vaughn's a couple times (but showing up when they were closed, boo!) the husband and I finally got to try this hidden gem out. The people who work here are lovely, friendly, and helpful people. We came at breakfast time during the week, so they weren't busy. Their egg sandwich is a 'build your own' egg sandwich, which I love! You can chose between a croissant or a biscuit (I got a biscuit), chose your cheese, how you want the egg, what meat you want, and veg. I had an over medium egg on biscuit with roasted tomatoes, gruyere cheese, and bacon.... it wasn't as good as my fave breakfast sandwich (when that one is good), but it was a close second. Very tasty and fresh. The husband had the biscuits and gravy... he loved it. The gravy was exceptional, they really let the quality of the ingredients shine... and it tasted good on the egg sandwich (new creation? I think so...). Their coffee was also good, they get it from a local roaster in Glendale. We also tried their cinnamon buns later that night, and they were soft and tasty... not overly sweet like some cinnamon buns can be. Needless to say, I will definitely be back! PS Their decor is SO cute and their patio looks amazing if it weren't a thousand degrees outside PPS 950, woohoo!

Ordered Togo this morning.... Best decaf americano ever, without the judgey 'ew decaf' looks. (I'm pregnant so decaf is temporarily acceptable). Ordered the delicious ricotta pancakes. Pancakes came with whipped butter and syrup plus a tart mixed fruit compote. Excellent way to start my Saturday.

Great little breakfast/lunch spot downtown. Friendly service and nice atmosphere. Good quality good prepared well. Nice outdoor patio/herb garden to relax and eat in...a quaint little dinner with a nice vibe to it

My brother and I stopped through here on a cross country road trip, desperately seeking out alternatives to fast food on the road. Ollie Vaughn's did not disappoint. We had the egg salad sandwich and the tuna sandwich, and both were delicious. Friendly staff, and a nice vibe. Would definitely stop through again next time we're in Phoenix.

Now, I'm not a violent person, but let's just say I would step on my beloved boyfriend's neck to get to their desserts. Lemon bars? Oh yeah...pie????? Oh heeeeeeells yeah!! Fresh, perfectly sweet and simply delightful. Besides the yummy tasty treats, we also enjoyed a couple of their breakfast items. Their French toast with a berry compote is two little slices of heaven. Do not get me started on their bacon...bacon dot YEAH!!!! I can't wait to go here again to sample many more of their dishes. We'll probably go so often it will be like Cheers up in that piece...NORM!!!

Would give it a 5 for the awesome food, but giving the restaurant a 3 for customer service. I live down the street and have tried their joint multiple times. Each time I strike up conversation with the owner on the visit, it's like pulling teeth. You opened a cute restaurant. Be excited about it!! Your food is amazing and I want to come back, but I'll admit I probably will not due to the customer service. You may not even notice you're not very friendly, but thought you should know. I want to support local restaurants, but not ones that don't give customers the time of day.

So good! I wish I had the veggie biscuit. The cawliflowe and arugula salad was the best!

  • Eric J.

What to drink: the iced toddy -- it's one of the best I've ever had What to eat: the breakfast sandwich, it's completely customizable but I got a biscuit with bacon, Gruyere cheese, avocado and an over medium egg.The biscuit is what sets it a part from over breakfast sandwiches I've had, probably because they specialize in their pastries. I only stopped by for a bit on my way to work, but they have an awesome playlist and some nice seating (inside and outside). If you're looking for an escape from some of the overcrowded coffee shops like Giant Coffee or Lux, I would definitely try working out of Ollie Vaugh's.

  • Cherry J.

Everytime I eat here, usually once a week or every other week, I am never disappointed. The crew here are super nice. The food is absolutely delicious! I usually go for the breakfast sandwich and switch back and forth from the croissant to biscuit. I am obsessed with their oatmeal cream pie. The prices for all the food is very reasonable too. Also, if you don't have time to wait for food, you can order ahead online. This place is just great! Support this business! You can't go wrong!

  • Cindy F.

Tucked away in an assuming location, Ollie Vaughn's is a delight. Fresh flowers on the table make me smile. A view into the clean and organized prep area keeps me intrigued and engaged. Everything is hand-crafted and flavorful. I recommend the quiche and cookies. I am excited about their upcoming cooking classes!

  • Jennifer S.

Love this place! The decor is simple and so shabby chic. The staff is amazingly friendly and welcoming. And, the food was just incredible - quality, fresh ingredients mixed together to be so flavorful and tasty. The sandwiches were so good - meatloaf and ham and next time I'll try one of the side salads too. The bakery case looked incredible, but we showed some restraint this time, but maybe not next time!

This revives ones inner hippie with coffee, tea, and food for attitude adjustment. Nice variety and prompt counter service.

This place rocks!! The pastries are amazing!! The cinnamon roll is the best one I've ever had (I've had my fair share). The breakfast menu is all amazing, the sandwiches are delicious with ingredients that I would never have thought to combine but work so well together. All around great place to eat.

Great place to take a manic-pixie-girlfriend to make her think you are totally with it. They are kinda slow at making Coffee though (but it is good)

Decided to deviate from my usual lunch places after seeing all the reviews. The interior decor is very industrial with concrete floors and those giant tubular air vents. There's a big outside shaded patio that is the complete opposite with wooden furniture and a small garden. I really liked the outside, not so much the sterile-looking inside. I got the large chicken salad which was good, not amazing though. It also took a long time to come out considering there was no one else at the place. The staff I thought was pretty aloof, almost as if they were doing me a favor by letting me eat there. All in all: food, good, decor, good, staff, weird.

  • Bryan M.

I love this place. Inside is modern, and really well-done, and the back patio is a great place to hang out on my computer with a pastry and a cup of coffee. There's an herb garden back there and it's a great atmosphere. The staff is always friendly, too. I normally get the green tea (so good), and a sandwich - they're seasonal, and currently they have a veggie sandwich with asparagus, artichoke, and ricotta cheese on it. I ask for it toasted, too, and it's awesome. Their breakfast sandwiches are super-good, too. I ask for mine to be covered in sausage gravy - because it's awesome, that's why. Great place to check out - their pastries are super good. Most times I'm in there and I can see them making it fresh. The mixer is going and they're rolling out dough for stuff. If I'm on my way home I sometimes grab one to go.

I'm giving this place 5 stars because I like the place, the owner, and I want to see this side of McDowell revitalized. The food is homemade and high-quality. Suggestion to owner: put down candles and be open for dinner. I would come here all the time (walking distance). Or least stay open later (7pm).

  • Melodie H.

What a sweet little place. I work during their Monday through Friday hours, so I was finally able to check it out this last Saturday...the atmosphere is so refreshing and cheery, fresh flowers at every table and a lovely patio with garden in back. I was in the mood for a light lunch: ordered the small quinoa salad and yogurt parfait. Fresh, tasty and simple, just what I was craving. Next time I would like to try their coffee while sitting down to some writing, as the place just makes you want to stay awhile.

Great spot to find in my new neighborhood. The croissant breakfast sandwich is so darn delish and cheap! I almost wish she would have charged me more so that I can help ensure this spot doesn't go away! Support this place! Great food and awesome space and service!

    (5)
  • Maria K.

GO HERE! Biscuits and gravy are divine. The gravy was not thick and the biscuits were fluffy pillows of buttery goodness. Not tough at all! They make everything to order so it may take a few extra mins, but it is worth it. As all good things are. Great back patio with misters, greenery, and plenty of seating. One of my new favorite spots!

    (5)
  • Jason H.

This is a true diamond in the rough. You wouldn't expect such a great spot from the outside, but it's all quality on the inside. Exceptional food and great atmosphere make this spot a clear win for the Coronado community.

I was in for breakfast, and would have given 5 stars but menu was small. Come for lunch it has more options. Server was good, coffee was good. I will be coming back.

  • Tanya W.

What a neat little place. Sandwiches, salads, desserts, and breakfast items. I had the ham on marbled rye and my husband had ham on sourdough. My kids had bacon, eggs and sourdough toast. We would visit again if we were in the area and needing lunch.

  • Aja C.

Love it! Best little lunch spot. Not a huge selection, but it will be your favorite sandwich so you want to go back every week for another! The tuna and the meatloaf are my favorites. It has a lovely atmosphere with a fabulous owner. The only issue is that she makes too many delicious treats and you can't pick which one to get!

  • Rebecca J.

Finally stopped in to this adorable new place. Central Phoenix has another great coffeehouse, yay! I particularly enjoyed the cinnamon roll, which was a buttery, flaky, croissant-like masterpiece. The interior is bright and comfortable. Lots of outlets if needed. There is a cute patio in back. Support these guys!

  • Renae R.

What a cute little local place! Everything I have tried has been wonderful, but the corn salad is my very favorite followed by the peanut butter kiss cookies (to die for) . The service is a little slow sometimes due to only one or 2 people cooking, but if you are in a rush, call it in or order on line.

I've been here a few time for breakfast and once for lunch. Excellent every time. But my new thing is I discovered their Ham and Cheese Croissants. So now I have their phone number on my speed dial. Call it it every morning and I am in and out in a few mins. Love this place.

Word on the street is that Ollie Vaughn's is a keeper. Word on the street is RIGHT! I've never been to Lux myself, but have heard all the praise and was intrigued when I heard their former baker opened a lunch shop in the Coronado 'hood. Always skeptical of salads and sandwich fare, I decided to give it try. The hubby decided to work from home on my birthday so that we could spend the day together, even if he spent his time on calls or the computer (which is just better because we share a car and I didn't have to drive him to and from work!). So, I asked to go to Ollie Vaughn's for birthday lunch. Away we went. Grilled cheese for him (on brioche), ham sandwich for me (marbled rye) and split a large spinach salad. Lavender green teas for both. Ham sandwich was ridiculously good. I think I still regret handing over my other half to my husband. I got his grilled cheese in exchange. It was very good and grilled to perfection (crunchy on the outside, oh yes), but I couldn't get past the mushrooms. He loved it, but it wasn't quite the grilled cheese for me. Which is fine, I loved the ham and want to try ALL the other sandwiches. Now I sit at home sipping tea and enjoying some of a chocolate chip cookie and pumpkin spice tea bread. The tea bread is so yummy (moist, flavorful, out of this world good). The cookie is ok, but I'm a choc chip cookie snob. It's way better than your average choc chip cookie. I wanted to eat all the baked goods in the case. The strawberry cheesecake, apple pie, raspberry chocolate scone, almond croissant, etc. I will certainly be back. AND the service is wonderful! They have cookbooks out too to browse which I loved. An avid cook and baker, those are my preferred reading material.

Ollie's has the best sandwiches and baked goods in town! Friendly service and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere! They use the freshest local ingredients and the result is creative and inspiring food that tastes amazing!

Wow, loved everything about this cute little spot! The outside garden seating was wonderful! Butternut salad was to die for, I would highly recommend trying it while it's still in season. Service was ok. Would really love to see more options for a vegetarian sandwich. I know anything they would make would be awesome! I will definitely be back next time I'm in PHX!

  • Lizabeth T.

Ordered the breakfast sandwich on a biscuit. Asked for cheddar, they gave me gruyere. Which I hate. Also no veggies like it said on the menu. The biscuit fell apart, but it was good and I'm sure they would have fixed the sandwich but we were in a hurry to go to work. Lemon bar a little too tart, quiche was good, good crust.

One of the best steak sandwiches on marble rye I have ever consumed. A delight to eat in or take out.

  • Brees D.

This place deserves every bit of its 5-Star Reviews. The service is friendly and updated, the ambience is quaint and cozy, and the food is quite possibly some of the best lunch-time fare I've had in Phoenix, especially in the area. I got the chicken-salad sandwich on Brioche, and it was evenly proportioned and prepared perfectly. My favorite little touch was the powdered sugar-dusted no-bake cookie that they included. My only regret is that I didn't find it sooner...

Finally, a cool place for an up and coming neighborhood. I was lucky to stumble on OV's, and was pleasantly surprised since. The deserts are some of the best, although I never seem to be able to get in on the days they make cheesecake (I guess it disappears quickly). The sandwiches are pretty good, and it seems like they change them up regularly. They have nice outdoor seating in back, and a really cool open kitchen inside. An actual sense of community because of all the regulars - the day I was there a group of people were having a weekly book club meeting. I didn't know books still existed...

AH-MAZING! Ambience is great but the food is even better!! We got the breakfast sandwich and the grilled cheese and I'm officially in love. Another great addition to the Coronado Historic District. Check it out!

Awesome place! Just ate there and got the ham sandwich. The apple butter added to it is so delicious. The atmosphere is great - really cool and cute inside. If you're in Phoenix and in that area but don't want a sketchy taco place to eat at, then definitely come here!

  • Jordan C.

Bravo, Ollie! I ate here for lunch twice this week, and will be coming back for more. Tried the meatloaf and turkey sandwiches, paired nicely with a spring salad. Sandwich proportions were perfect, and taste was superb. I especially liked the dressing on the turkey sandwich. This neighborhood is on the rise, and Ollie's seems to fit perfectly. As to reviews by Winston R. and Meh M., typical Yelp passive aggressive haters. Believe the hype, this place is for real. Yummy!

A most AMAZING find! Delicious homemade food an pastries! Lindsay and Debbie are fabulous and the atmosphere is crisp, clean and airy. Had a breakfast sandwich and yummy coffee; even picked up an oatmeal pie for my room mate!

I've been here handfuls of times since, and the place is not only consistent, but getting better and better. Breakfast sandwich and lemon ricotta pancakes are our favorites. Bourbon pecan pie is outstanding (not too crunchy, not too mushy).

Fantastic sandwiches! We shared the meatloaf and the ham sandwich. The meatloaf was DIVINE. The sauce was perfect and there was a bit of cole slaw on it that had a super lovely thai flavor. It was delicious. The ham was great too - yummy cheese and I loved the arugala on it. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. Super sweet girl behind the counter and overall a very inviting atmosphere that was lovely to hang out in.

Im out in Phoenix for the holidays and fell in love! Hard to believe it was with a magnificent pie! An icebox pumpkin pie to be exact! I don't even eat pie so this was a unique love affair. If I were to ever cheat on my usual desserts...I would be flying this mistress out to Austin, TX.

The service is not very good. You have to get your own utensils and napkin which are located at the back of the store. When I asked for a napkin I was rudely told they were located at the back of the restaurant. Like I was supposed to know this already. Then I watched this rough looking guy come in and he was looking at the pastries. I think they thought he was homeless and they waited 3-4 minutes to even acknowledging him. Very rude. We ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks for $23!! The meatloaf sandwich was ok. It was smothered with this sweet glaze. The other sandwich was tuna fish which was way too sweet for my liking. I agree with another reviewer that the staff is a little rude and dismissive. I am not sure why they changed the menu. They used to serve this AWESOME grilled cheese sandwich and a great roast beef sandwich. The first time I visited this place was great. Now, it's not that great. Won't be going back.

Was in the neighborhood last weekend and I finally got to have lunch at Ollie Vaughn's. Greeted with friendly service in a restaurant with a charming interior. On this lovely day in Phoenix, we chose to dine outside. The patio had the perfect balance of sun and shade, along with fruit trees and a selection of vegetables and herbs growing in the back. The perfect place to dine and enjoy a beautiful sunny day. I opted for the chard grilled cheese sandwich with mushrooms on a toasted brioche, with a tasty bowl of soup, which made for the perfect lunch paring. I also sampled the kale salad- the dressing was delicious, citrusy and crisp. There were also many tempting deserts in the bakery case, unfortunately at this point I was stuffed. I can't wait to come back and sample some more of the sandwiches, soup, and salads- next time I'll save room for desert!

This is the kind of place that Phoenix needs more of. Great local independent cafe with a simple menu full of very well designed and prepared food. Nice, friendly environment. Reasonable prices. Unique flavors. Its a winner in my book.

This is a quaint little sandwich shop with super yummy baked goods and home made sandwiches. I had the turkey and dressing sandwich on whole grain. It's a plate of Thanksgiving dinner on bread. It comes with a homemade cookie that's amazingly decadent. It's a MUST try!

Totally unexpected awesome coffee/breakfast/lunch spot in the ghetto. Stumbled across Ollie's while working across the street at the homeless youth drop-in center, and I was totally surprised to find that gentrification was happening even here. I mean, I understand that hipsters are into gentrification. It's what they do. And generally speaking I'm totally in favor of gentrification. But this is a truly decrepit part of the ghetto. Strip joints, homeless shelters, etc. Lots of hipster joints move onto the border of the ghetto, or into an area that's already been hipsterized. Ollie's has nerve to move onto McDowell and Food City, so props to them. In the spirit of Ollie Vaughn's, here's my theory on the beautiful process of gentrification in the urban ecosystem: 1) A city starts 2) Everybody lives together 3) Industry springs up in the downtown area 4) Rich people don't want to live next to industry/poor people 5) --} suburbs 6) Downtown becomes "ghetto" 7) Low housing prices attract hipsters 8) Hipsters start Ollie Vaughn's 9) Poor people/hipsters coexist 10) Area becomes "trendy" thanks to Ollie Vaughn's 11) More hipsters 12) More trendy 13) MORE HIPSTERS 14) Hipster critical mass reached, housing prices skyrocket 15) Rich millennials move in from suburbs 16) ^ housing prices even more 17) Poor people can't afford housing 18) Poor people move to X suburb, where rich people used to live 19) Full gentrification achieved, hipsters mourn mecca 20) Repeat cycle in new poor neighborhood, starting at #7 The way I see it hipsters are like the gastrointestinal process. You start with something totally useless, like a $7 breakfast sandwich, after yelp check in, loaded with carmelized onions, arugula, tomatoes and bacon. An Ollie Vaughn breakfast sandwich. You're body doesn't know what to do with the sandwich. So you put it in your mouth and eat it. And like hipsters in the ghetto, your digestive process starts breaking down this delicious meal into things it can use. Bacon turns into a new protein molecule, maybe a gym in an abandoned warehouse. The croissant turns into a trendy new carbohydrate, maybe an upscale loft converted from a brick and mortar department store. The arugula turns into fiber, which, like the hipsters themselves, helps push all the poor byproduct out of this newly re-energized system so that it can go stink up some other neighborhood, ultimately serving as fertilizer for the next arugula plant to grow. And they really do have good coffee, and their breakfast sandwiches are bomb, and occasionally they play rare old-timey Western tunes. So come here and eat, and maybe give a dime to the homeless dude in the parking lot while you can. He'll be gone soon enough, and this neighborhood will be bland once again, with only Ollie Vaughn's here to remind us of what was. Pros: Delicious food, gentrification Cons: Poverty: coming to a neighborhood near you

Quiet. Cute. Friendly. Delicious. Lemon bars for days! I'm reviewing late, since I went for the first time about a year ago, but I have been jonsin' for another lemon bar since. Could a person ask for anything more? No. The answer you're looking for is no.

I am in this area a lot and have been wanting to check out Ollie Vaughn's, but always seem to around when it is closed, but one Sat I was just on time and happy to see it was opened! This is such a cute shop, everyone is friendly and helpful, I love the outside patio seating area. The sweets on display looked amazing, next time I have to come back hungry. They even serve breakfast all day. I ordered an iced coffee, and it delsih! Perfect for my Saturday adventures, since my son moved in this area, I know I will become a regular in no time!

Came in for breakfast...ordered iced coffee and quiche. No one addressed us when we came in and we stood at the counter waiting to order for quite some time, despite there being no one else in line and only one table with customers that already had their food. My quiche was heated up but very cold on the inside. Delicious quiche! Wish it was properly heated and that the customer service was more on point. First time coming here...but will probably give it another try. Could have been a bad morning there. We all deserve a second chance :)

Found Ollie Vaughns by accident and have been incredibly surprised. The atmosphere is really great. Music and the set up of an incredible local cafe. Service was incredible. I had a breakfast sandwich with turkey, Gruyere, green chilis, over medium egg on a biscuit. It was cooked absolutely perfectly as were the pancakes my wife got. Couldn't think of anything I would change or like to see done differently.

I almost don't want to write this review. Seriously, I love this place so much I want it to stay under the radar so it doesn't get crazy busy. The food is consistently amazing (the bacon biscuit breakfast sandwich and biscuits and gravy are my favorite). It's got a really cute vibe inside, and all of the staff are wonderful. Personally, their desserts aren't really my favorite, but that's ok with me. I really really wish they were open on Sundays. It's not "in the ghetto" as another reviewer mentioned - just in an urban area.

  • Jordan R.

Inside: cute and has a nice flow. Food quality: pretty decent. I felt that they just clumped everything in my salad. Food quantity: not great. I mean, I get that these salads are supposed to be unique and small but I mean, for $8.00 and no meat I wasn't necessarily impressed. Speed: bad. It took them 50 minutes to 1 hour to get 2 salads, 2 sandwiches and 1 soup. I get it, they might have been rushed before hand but there was ZERO communication about it. I truly found the food to be up to par but not necessarily good for the price. I don't know that I'll come back. I will say the pastries/desserts looked pretty delicious though!

I visited last week for the first time. Found it here on yelp when I was looking for a nearby spot for some breakfast. It had very good reviews, so I tried it out. I prefer independent, mom and pop type places over the big chains. I like the look and feel of the place--very hipster. I ordered the chili pork over a biscuit, topped with egg sunnyside up... I sat down and waited while they prepared my food. First thing I noticed was that everyone was involved in the kitchen area, as it was a small setup.. Only one person working there was wearing any kind of hair restraint. The main person doing most of the cooking was not wearing a cap or hairnet.. And, to top it off, no one was wearing gloves or washing their hands. I noticed the main cook go up to the cash register to wait on a customer, handle the person's money, then go right back to cooking without washing his hands. And he was directly handing raw food at the time. To make matters worse, when my food arrived, the egg I had ordered sunnyside up had the yolk 3/4 cooked and it was sealed up tight like the egg was basted instead of sunnyside up.. The purpose of ordering a sunnyside up egg on a dish like this is to have the velvety yolk make a sauce of sorts on the dish. I sent the store an online message thru their websites "contact us" link, but after one week, have heard nothing back. I believe everyone deserves a chance. No place is perfect and everyone has a bad day. But for them to have some GLARING health department issues and some basic cooking issues and not respond to a sincere guest letter with honest feedback says alot about the place.. I say Stay away if you value your safety

this place was my first spot upon my first visit in Arizona! it was around the corner of my hotel & had good yelp reviews. I decided to come here with my husband & we ordered their famous breakfast sandwiches. it was as good as the locals described. however, they misplaced my order & charged me for a piece of cake when I didn't order any pastry & cooked my husbands egg over easy when he requested medium cooked. so, that was upsetting. I informed them I was charged extra & they never came back around to refund me or apologize. that was even more upsetting. Also, the portion of the breakfast sandwich was small. it did not fill up my stomach. overall, besides the confusion & extra charge, it's still a place to stop by.

Came here for an early lunch. Got a charred grilled cheese and a kale salad, and I must say IT WAS FREAKIN DELICIOUS! We split the two and it was the perfect amount of food, and at 11 bucks you can't beat it. The staff here is super awesome, always helpful and friendly, and the space is great. I would rank the patio as one of my favorites in town. The pastries also look delectable. All in all, if you want a good breakfast or lunch, GO TO OLLIE VAUGHN'S!

Wonderful lunch place we found today. I had a delish turkey club (with the best bacon, ever) and my companion had ricotta pancakes. Yum! The prices were fair, service great and we even had a nice chat with the owner (?) who was busy baking a lot of the goodies to be had. My only complaint is that the menu offers few selections, especially in the salad department. That's a personal preference thing, and no real reflection on the restaurant. Will definitely be going back for the lemon bars!

This place is amazing. It's an out of the box restaurant with the mom and pop feel. The ambience is peaceful and relaxing and the service was wonderful. And the food was out of this world!

My client took me here to eat lunch with 2 other coworkers. 3 of us had the the tuna sandwich and wow it was amazing!!!! It had this jalapeño jelly. It sounds nasty but it was the best tasting jam that I ever had lol. I usually don't like jam at all but this was so good. The tea I got was lavender and I let I didn't like it as much because it was odd bitter taste. My coworker liked it though. The environment was cozy, bright, and comfortable.

Don't even think of stopping at rainbow donuts, not when this place is a block away. So glad I spotted in in a whim (ok, the sign said pie, i couldn't resist). The croissant pudding is yum. Loved the oatmeal pie, its two oatmeal coolies with buttercream in the middle. But the current winner for me is the ricotta pancakes. They have a hint of lemon and poppyseeds. The interior is light and airy. Minimalist but comfy. The staf is friendly, and took the time to chat with me when I came in. Oh and free WiFi!

Right next to my favorite hair salon, Hair Pollution (which is unfortunately closing in a few weeks!). Very cute space, good flow, open area in the back with shade and a small vertical garden is simply delightful. Smelled like bacon the moment I stepped foot inside. Yum. Ordered a lavender green tea, two oatmeal cookies with buttercream frosting in between, and a small corn salad. Real ingredients. The buttercream is to die for. Really delicious and buttery cookie. Fresh and cool corn salad with avocado and peppers. I love that they have a small portion for $3.50 (the portion is just called small, it actually isn't very small and was very filling) Will go again. Looked like a chill spot to study.

Absolutely love this place. It's so cute on the inside and run by this super nice brother and sister duo. And their food is out of this world. We usually go for breakfast and I get the french toast. It's probably the best french toast I've ever had, so if you're a french toast connoisseur, do yourself a favor and head over to this place. They also have really good coffee. They recently got a new coffee machine and that thing is wondrous. They have tons of little pastries and such that are so hard to pass up when it's time to leave, so yes, you should help yourself to a cookie or an oatmeal cream pie. There's also a cute little patio in the back with a garden. This is a wonderful little spot in Phoenix that you should definitely take time to visit. My only complaint is that they aren't open on Sundays! Crossing my fingers that that changes in the future!

I've been coming to Ollie's for a while, but things are really going downhill the last couple of months. They can't seem to get an order right any more. Today I left after receiving half of my order. I literally didn't have the energy or desire to correct them once again. Sorry Ollie's, but we are done. This place has all the red flags of a once was great place that is about to close.

On the good side: super cute store, great prices and yummy food. Nice staff and lots of regulars. The lemon bars are really tasty, too. I plan to replicate the ham sandwich at home. On the not-so-good side: I found a long hair in my sandwich after I took it home. Few things gross me out more. I wish you well, Ollie Vaughn's and may come back but you might want to consider some head coverings to avoid this happening again.

My fiancé and I were looking for a place to grab a quick eat before our drive back down to San Diego so after doing a few Yelp searches for lunch spots we decided on Ollie Vaughn's. Don't be fooled by the exterior appearance of this cafe. I was a bit hesitant considering I am not familiar with the Phoenix area. I thought it looked a bit sketchy but I don't know I'm not from here! I loved the mural on the side of the building in the parking area and the hair cut store next door looked quite trendy! As soon as I stepped foot inside this cafe I was greeted by the friendly staff. Their menu was simple a few sandwich and salad options and yummy baked goods in their glass case. I ordered the chard grilled cheese which had rainbow chard, mushrooms, white cheddar & mozzarella. I added turkey to my sandwich and I had it on a brioche. The fiancé ordered a ham sandwich and a lavender iced tea. It doesn't stop there we also ordered a whoopie pie! Portions were just enough for lunch and the sandwiches came with a little baked powdered sugar dusted cookie treat! I really overindulged here but it was worth it. Everything tasted fresh and delicious! My sandwich was crispy ooooey gooooey!! Yum!!! I loved it and wanted more! Prices were reasonable ranging from 7-8.50 for a sandwich. 10 for a sandwich and soup combo! The ambience inside the cafe was very inviting....very vintage with the mason jars....loving the display of cookbooks which caught my attention Momofuku and Bouchon! The outdoor patio dining area in the back with the herb garden and fruit trees was so cute and very great for the photo ops. I overheard one of the other customers saying that the owner was going to change up the menu to use more ingredients from the garden for the upcoming spring menu. Definitely recommend Ollie Vaughn's!! Wish I lived closer but if I'm back in the Phoenix area I'll come back here for sure!

Sandwiches were really tasty, though for the price, I wanted at least a little flair on presentation. Atmosphere was relaxing and quite unique - made me feel like I was back in Tucson at some hip 4th Ave joint. I'll go back when I have the calories to spare for one of those amazing looking treats in the bakery counter!

Nice place for casual breakfast. Coffee was strong and full bodied. Very good. Ordered the pork verde. It was delicious but a bit dry for my taste. Needed some sour cream or Verde gravy to enhance flavor. The biscuit that came with it was delicious. Service was quick and friendly.

I absolutely love this place! Lindsey is the sweetest and I am never dissapointed! I ordered Mexican tea cookies and cheescake bites for my wedding and my guests absolutely loved them!! Her pastries are legit and you can tell she uses quality ingredients. Lately I've been obsessed with the turkey club on a croissant! It has avocado in it and the croissant is so flavorful and buttery! I can't say enough great things about the owner and the food. Definitely a great spot in Phoenix and make sure you get a pastry! cookies, pie, cheesecake and so much more. This place is awesome and I'm so glad they opened near my neighborhood!

My partner and I had that certain hankering from breakfast fare and we found ourselves at Ollie Vaughn's. The location is central and a beautiful addition to an otherwise run down strip mall. The interior design is smart, a mix of industrial and farmhouse-chic. Overall the space is sunny and welcoming. As we waited in line to order we began to drool over the luscious pastries on display. They have a nice selection of fresh baked specialities including moon pies, lemon tarts, giant turtle brownies and almond croissants. To share we ordered a colossal slice of carrot cake, a mini oatmeal moon pie, earl grey tea and lemon poppyseed ricotta pancakes (on the special board). The gentlemen who assisted us was very polite and attentive. We were promptly served the tea and carrot cake. The tea was superbly spicy and paired well with the fluffy, creamy super sweet goodness of the carrot cake. Even though it was by no means busy there was quite a wait for the pancakes. When they were finally delivered it was well worth the wait! We got three giant pancakes covered with fresh fruit and butter. The flavor was out of this world! Very lemony and tangy. Definitely crave worthy! Also, we had to remind them about the the oatmeal moon pie we ordered as it appears it was forgotten. They made up for the delay/faux pas by offering up a delicious chocolate and peanut butter moon pie, a new recipe they were trying out, which was like a crunchy yet whipped peanut butter orgasm for the mouth. Overall everything was super delicious and our experience was memorable. However, it all was only one note in a symphony of flavor potential. The pancakes would have been elevated with a savory, meaty side dish. Perfectly crispy side of bacon, anyone? I hope they expand their menu to include more items. Also, what's with the hours? Please stay open later so we can enjoy you more!

Ollie Vaughn's is a great Coronado neighborhood spot that provides a salad when you want it, a pastry when you need it, a kick-butt toddy when you crave it, and a darling back patio. Add to this Lindsey Magee's signature on the fresh and inventive kitchen, and you've got a hit. On Thanksgiving morning, Lindsey opened for two hours to make sure those of us who forgot to order pies could gobble up some of her extras. The apple cinnamon was delicious, but the chocolate/walnut/fernet pie was the winner that night.

My favorite spot for a quick breakfast croissant sandwich! Tasty; made to order, eggs, bacon, avocado, gruyere cheese, caramelized onions, arugula, roasted tomatoes!! Need I say more?? Delicious baked goods as well!!

Everything was excellent! My dad was in town from Chicago for the SOMA Lifetime Tri this past weekend. Needing a place for us to meet in the middle for brunch and something that wouldn't be so heavy since they were prepping for their race the next morning, I took to yelp to help guide me. Thank you yelpers for this great find! The location is right off I10 west of 16th street on McDowell, and a little seedy but you can tell it's up and coming... maybe! Don't let the neighborhood deter you from trying out this great spot. The store is very bright and welcoming and so are all of the employees. We chose to sit outside on the back patio. They have an herb garden and nice patio tables. It was a great spot for brunch. You order from the front and they bring the food to you. My dad's girlfriend ordered 3 of the small salads $2.50 each but all worth so much more. She ordered the arugula, the butternut squash, and one more I can't quite remember. My favorite was the butternut squash salad. I ordered the breakfast sandwich on a croissant and it was delish, no complaints. My dad ordered the grilled cheese, I tried it because he was raving about it and again very good. I love the mushroom and the cheese. I will order that when I come back. Kids had the French Toast which were eaten up quickly. There was not a delay in receiving our food, it came out quickly and the guys working here were super friendly and helpful. The green tea was also very good. The ingredients were fresh, this was a satisfying meal and I can't say enough good things, prices were very low as well especially for the quality of food you will get. We will be back for brunch!

Nice little place. The tuna sandwich and the club are both very tasty! I walked in very hungry and after the tuna and the salad it was just right. Will definitely go back again!

I was so excited to see this cute place open up SO close to my house! It is definitely improving the neighborhood. Super cute inside, and a nice back patio, with vegetable gardens! The salads are super healthy and contain all a vegetable lovers favorite ingredients- kale, brussel sprouts, watermelon radishes, quinoa, etc. Sandwiches and soups are also healthy and really delicious, and every meal comes with a free little cookie or other sweet for dessert! Can't wait to try everything on the menu. My only recommendation for the owners would be to get an espresso machine. Then I'll never have to go anywhere else.

Gosh I hate to be the one to do this but, this was not even near 5 star caliber to me (especially comparing to other cafés in the area like Lux). I had some errands to run in Cen Pho and I really didn't want to totally derail my diet for lunch. So I did a yelp search for salads and this popped up. Imagine my delight to find all raving reviews! I headed over immediately. I love the atmosphere. It's really cute and cozy, but a little industrial too with the concrete floors and counters. Love, love the teal chairs, white brick walls and fresh flowers. Anyway, the service, while nice, was pretty aloof. And it wasn't busy so I don't know what the deal was. Perhaps they were busy making call in lunch orders that I was ignored? I got a small spinach salad. For $4 I felt the portion was fair. However, my salad was supposed to come with Pomagranate and it didn't have it on there. I initially wanted to try the soup but they had run out (by noon?). I got a Belgian waffle for my son. My salad came out (which took awhile), I finished it and we were still waiting on the waffle. I was trying to catch the eye of one of the employees because my son was really hungry, and he's 4 so he was about to go postal. Finally a young girl asked of there was anything else, and I reminded her of the waffle and cookie we ordered. Her response was oh sorry that wasn't on the ticket (she was being polite not snarky - never know how that might come across in a review). But she was the one who took my order so I was confused as to how those items were left off the ticket. Anyway, the waffle and cookie finally came out. They were really good. In fact, the food is really good and fresh. No doubt about that. But my overall experience was just weird. In fact on the way out, a gentleman asked how was everything and I was like ok, food was good but it took a long time and the Pomagranate was left off my salad. His response, were there pomagranates supposed to be on your salad? I was like yeah all the ingredients of the salad are right here on the menu. He just shrugged his shoulders and said yeah it happens sometimes. He wasn't rude, but dismissive. Didn't apologize or anything. As I walked out, one of the ladies was rolling out dough to make cinnamon rolls. They are probably delicious. They seem like super nice people who serve good food. But they could use improvement on the customer service and efficiency.

I have thoroughly enjoyed EVERYTHING I've had on their menu. Their menu is simple and the food is creative. ANYTHING you try will impress your tastebuds! My favorite? Biscuits and Gravy with a fried egg on top. Their cookies are out of this world! The pies are unique and delicious! I love the ginger pear pie served warm with ice cream!!

Omg wow!!! Just moved to the area and used yelp to find a new barber but what i really found was unexpected. The barber mentioned this little cafe likebright next door. Ollie Vs... And it should be called Omie G's cause the food is amazing. I had the pork biscuit off the cashiers recomendation and was astounded by the flavor. The atmosphere and decore fit great and it was like stepping into another world from the rushing traffic outside. The quaint patio is cute and cozzy. The only complaint is the portion size was a little large and since it was so good i couldnt help myself from finishing it i am now a little beyond stuffed. Over all i cant wait to come back.

I absolutely love this place when I'm in phoenix. I love supporting local business and the food is delightful! I had a veggie sandwich and an iced coffee. The iced coffee was honestly the best I've had in a very long time. My sandwich was made with fresh ingredients and incredibly scrumptious. Overall I love this place. I love the vibe when you walk in and how kind the women working there are. I know next time I'm in Phoenix I'll definitely go there again.

Very cute decor, vintage feel, but I hate walking into a place that reeks of bacon. Wanted to leave immediately after I walked in. The guys behind the counter were very nice. I quickly ordered the blue lady iced tea which is a black tea with a hint of blueberry---yum! I took an oatmeal pie (think Little Debbie) to go which was just ok. If I came back I would definitely opt to sit on the back patio which has cute repurposed decorations.

This place is just great. I was driving down McDowell and out of the corner of my eye, I saw this place Ollie Vaughn's. It just was calling out to me. I heard about it from some friends and was in need for a afternoon pick me up. So I pulled over and went in to get a cup of coffee. I got a iced tattie and a Brownie. I drank the Tattie and shot the stuff with the young man at the counter. He was a character and had a great personality. We talked music and he easily up sold me on the brownie. The coffee was no joke, got me good and fired up to go purchase those tires that I was originally set out on the mission to get in the first place. Since I was on my way to get new tires, the vibe of my afternoon was of the chore variety, and not of the kick back one. When I left Ollie Vaughn's , I was in a much better head space and was able to deal with having to perform the rest of my day with a much better outlook. These are the type of experiences I take with me and remember when going to a new spot. Oh yeah ! The Brownie was absolutely insane and gave my girlfriend and I both our chocolate fix for the day, "we ate it later that evening". I would recommend this place to anyone.

This place ROCKS! Lunch date with one of my closest friends last week - and I suggested we go here. So glad she was game! Between the two of us, there were three full meals (I also got a to-go order to have dinner at work.) My lunch was the turkey sandwich on focaccia with stuffing, cranberry and bib lettuce, and a small spinach salad with lemon vinaigrette. Delish! Super fresh, perfect proportions and too much food! (I added the salad to my dinner bag - the sandwich was more than enough!) I also ordered a Mexican tea cookie, not realizing they were going to add a wonderful little chocolate peanut butter no bake cookie. Both were fantastic - and I was happy to have a friend there to share with! Dinner was the flank steak sandwich on sourdough with the baby kale salad. Excellent quality, once again perfectly proportioned. I did eat both salads that night - and they were both absolutely fantastic. I also had the lemon bar on rosewater shortbread. Good thing I got a coworker to share that with me - I think I was already well over my calorie allotment for the day. And it was amazing! Cute place, great back patio, excellent food. Not the cheapest sandwich in town - but given the quality, the value is definitely there. The staff was all friendly, helpful and definitely made us feel welcome and valued. Look forward to my next visit!
