Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. Hands down the best red and green Chili Burros in the Southwest. I have driven to Miami from my home in the valley just to get food.
(5)Esteban B.
It actually started as a camping trip to the desert. I would leave early Saturday morning, after the storms washed through the valley. I woke at two am to check the satellite view and still looked pretty ugly. I knew the area I would be camping would likely be riddled with flooded washes. That, and the last gasps of the nasty cold I was fighting convinced me to bag a trip I'd been looking forward to for weeks. I rarely bag. I went back to bed. The next morning, the wife and I decided on plan B. Road Trip! The idea was to drive up the Apache Trail to Fish Creek, take some pictures and then head back to Tortilla Flat for lunch. Plan C strikes! Instead, we drove on. At the 188, we had a choice, Jakes Corner or Globe, both about the same distance. We chose Globe. Then, at the 60, we had another choice, left or right, we chose right (again). The gps showed a Mexican food place off the highway in downtown Miami. We drove right there and noticed absolutely nobody there. That felt weird. Not knowing what to do, we drove up the next block to get back to the 60, and right there on the corner, was the Burger House. We were starving. The parking lot was half-full at 2:00 on a Saturday. Plus, they had outside seating, so the pugs could join us. This was a good sign. We strolled in and were promptly met with a friendly greeting. Perusing the menu, I spied lots of things to try while the gentleman ahead of us was grabbing his lunch. He had a double-cheeseburger slathered with Green Chile. I am in heaven. This was exactly what I wanted. The wife had a bean tostada, and we rounded it out with a cheese crisp, all for less than $20. The burger was awesome, two patties with cheese layered between, mayo, lettuce onion and pickle with a big ladle of Green Chile smothering it. This is a perfect meal for a blustery day. I'll be back for this. The cheese crisp was clearly homemade, a nice thick flour tortilla crisped up nicely on the bottom with a thick layer of melted cheddar on top. The wife raved about her tostada and the hot sauce. There is a reason this place has been around for almost 40 years in a mining town that is half-dying. I will be visiting again.
(5)Sarah Y.
From the looks of the place and it's name you would never guess, but hands down Burger House serves the best food in the Globe/Miami area and the best bean burrito I have ever had! LOVE IT! I hear their burgers are great, too, but I don't eat meat so I do not have first hand experience with this.
(5)William D.
I remember when my dad used to work in Tucson (15+ years ago) and every friday when he'd come home to northern AZ, he'd stop by the Burger House and pick up a couple green chili burros, and we'd eat them right up and wish there was more. It wasn't until recently that I made a trip out (from Scottsdale) with a friend of mine to have the same burros. They tasted exactly as I remember. We absolutely loved it. Plan on coming back again soon.
(5)Bekah S.
This little hole in the wall horribly named has the best green Chile (pork) burritos. They are so soupy you should ask for a straw . My husband tries to think of reasons to drive through Globe and I'm on to him, it's for this burrito.
(4)Adam H.
Absolutely the best New Mexico style burritos around. The Green Mix Burro is fantastic and combines saucy pinto beans with green chiles in a wonderful flour tortilla for a savory delight. A friend referred me here and claimed that the Green Mix Burros were the best burritos in Arizona. Every time I pass through Miami I stop for one and take one for the road.
(5)Ricardo L.
Probably my second favorite place in town. Everything I have had from here has been great! The only issue would be the dining area. It's pretty small. This place gets very busy so you are a lot better off getting your order to go. The staff is great and the food, wether it be breakfast burros or dinner, is always fresh and hot. They have pretty good burgers too!
(5)Will C.
Very friendly staff with excellent food. Family had cheeseburgers, red chile burger and tacos. It was all really good for a very reasonable price. If you are in Globe I suggest you stop and give it a try.
(5)Kieren C.
I grew up in Globe and my family still lives there. We've eaten at every Mexican food place in the area. Burger House is the BEST. Every time I come back to town, I have to eat a bean burro enchilada style. No one does enchilada style like BH! So good! My husband (an out-of-towner) was a skeptic of Globe Mexican food at first, but now he is hooked on Tony's Special breakfast burros (yum!), as well as the regular and red burros.
(5)C R.
Fantastic burrito with green chili and red salsa. Just awesome. Worth the drive from Phoenix.
(5)Diane G.
Expected a much better place from the reviews. It changed names so there must be new owners. The burgers were small. Even though we ordered cheeseburgers there was no cheese. And the buns were huge. The only good thing was the guy behind the counter was nice.
(1)Clint F.
Just like Chasen H., I too hit this place up on each trip to Show Low. Everything on the menu is great. Love all their burros, green chile, mixed (red and green) and the bean and cheese is good as well. I have even had the fish and chips and they were great also. I have had their burgers as well and they were good, but I would stick to the mexican food for a guaranteed home run each time.
(5)John B.
Oh my goodness this is the BEST place in town! We discovered this little joint a few dozen years ago, and when we pass through Miami we have to stop by! They make THE BEST green chili burritos EVER. Period! Test it! They are so juicy and big and yummy. I could eat there every day! Their burgers are super good too, as are their breakfast burritos. I just always get the green chili burritos because there is NO other Mexican restaurant that even comes CLOSE to this perfection! And that's coming from someone who has lived in Arizona his whole life! The cooks are friendly and they even recognize us (slightly embarrassing - we probably go there too much). It's a tiny place, and you'll miss it if you blink, but you'll never regret stopping there!
(5)Chasen H.
I come here every single time I head up to show low and their red and green burros are absolutely amazing! The meat and sauce ooze out as you stuff your face. The service was a little slow but worth the wait! And when I say slow...it isn't Taco Bell fast. This gem is hidden in globe on the left hand side if you are heading east bound. No lie, I might ask the owner to franchise this puppy cuz I bet it would be the next filibertos hit.
(5)Wendy L.
In an area saturated by great Mexican food, it's hard for a small, family owned joint to really stand out. The Burger House meets the challenge with simple, delicious fare at totally reasonable prices. I'm from Tucson and my standards are impossibly high. However, I'll gladly drive miles out of my way for their red chili or Chile relleno burrito any day of the week!
(4)sandra m.
Had the green Chile burger. The ground beef was from the bulk packs of hamburger patties you get at the grocery store. Very little green Chili and it was sauce not strips. The chunks of beef were the best part. I don't know what the other food tastes like but I will not be coming back here again.
(2)Rebecca H.
This place is awful for service they take forever! The customer service is awful too. It literally took them 30 mins to cook 2 pieces of grilled chicken and put it on a bed of lettuce with tomato! There was no apology either, they served a group of 7+ people before my order even when I ordered 15 mins before them!
(1)Jon G.
Growing up in Miami, one of my fondest memories was after practice visits to my favorite Mexican food place on earth. I would eat here 2-3 times a week usually ordering the same thing, the half and half. A mix of beans, cheese and red chili meat with enchilada sauce cooked and placed inside a warm, buttery, homemade tortilla. It was gooey and flavorful and made a mess but thats what the fries were for. Use them to scoop up the sauce and insides that fall out and your meal is complete. Sunrise, sunset, happy fucking day!
(5)Shi'Ann C.
My favorite place to go! (: tony special it the bean and cheese with bacon burrito yum
(5)perris f.
Pretty good but not great. I judge all Mexican restaurants by the rice and refried beans. How close do they come to my grandmother's. Both the rice and beans (on the dinner plates) at this place were so watery I needed a spoon. The taste was there but the rice was like slimy grits. Very very disappointing. Maybe the cooks were having an off Monday. Too bad. Next time it's Chalos or Guayo's.
(2)Henry W.
I've been eating here for over 4 years they have the best Burritos in town definitely worth the stop.
(5)Kimmy W.
This was our second trip to Burger House. I didn't review it the first time because we were all sick with a bit of the flu so I didn't think it would have been fair. This time we were all fit as a fiddle and I am sorry to report that it was terrible. We drive through the Globe/Miami are a few times a year. Burger House had such good reviews that we wanted to try it out. I called ahead and placed an order to go for 4 green chili burros and 4 red chili burros. I was traveling with kids, two of them being teenage boys. Did you know that teenage boys will eat almost anything? Well, they wouldn't eat these burritos. They were wet, drippy, flavorless mess. The boys wrapped them back up and asked if we could stop at McDonald's and get some McNuggets instead. Seriously. Maybe we got them on a bad day...we threw away the remaining burros and won't go back again.
(1)Brock E.
Food is fan-freaking-tastic. We drive here from Queen Creek. Only issue is that the girls up front are either great or terrible. There seems to be NO happy medium. Really, I do not care, I have to see them for a few seconds, but it drives my wife nuts. If you are from out of town and in the area, stop. If you are from the Miami area, you already know.
(5)John C.
The breakfast burritos are ok, the burgers are great and the green/red chili burros are CRAZY GOOD, by far the best I've had in the area. The place is always busy so either be patient or call ahead. I've been about eight times already and I only found this place two weeks ago. I would give them five stars but the breakfast burritos are kind of a bummer.
(4)Elias A.
I have a friend in Globe who can't stop talking about this place. It feels like a lot like watching a cult classic type movie that a friend of yours really likes and when you finally get to see it you're thinking, "huh?" My friend recommended the green chilli burrito. He says this is the best burrito (make sure to call them burros or they will know you're not a local hahaha) west of the Mississippi. So I try it and all I could think was "huh?" The green chilli had more of a New Mexico feel to it than Old Mexico. They put a ton a cheese on it so if you're getting it make sure to ask for easy cheese to get a regular amount. You can order it enchilada style which means they cover it with enchilada sauce and put MORE CHEESE on top. I will say there is not much else to eat out there so if for whatever reason you're passing through it's worth stopping by.
(3)Elyse P.
At some point I will be driving across states for that relleno burrito. So good. The people that work there are super nice too.
(5)Philip C.
Ate dinner here on Oct. 8 when I came into town for my class reunion. I had read so much about the place that I had to try it. I was not disappointed! I had the green chili dinner which was composed of pork chunks cooked with green chili, accompanied by Spanish rice, refried beans and hot buttered tortillas. It was exquisite - just like my mom and grandma made when I lived here. Despite the name, this is one of the best places to go for delicious Mexican food in Arizona. I finished every bite!
(5)Mike F.
Very, very, very good Mexican fare. Great to hit up both going to and coming back from any sort of Eastern Arizona hunting trip. Very friendly staff.
(4)Matt S.
Oh my freaking Goodness!!!!! The BEST burritos in southeast AZ!!! Hands down!!! Red and green chili burritos are worth the wait. And wait u will because this place is ALWAYS packed and there is NEVER any parking. It takes a little time, but fresh and worth the wait. Everything I have had here is good. I just wish I didn't like their burritos so much because I would try one of their hamburgers ... LOL I have had the breakfast burritos too here and they are amazing as well. People in Globe/Miami area are lucky to have this gem...if anyone is cruising through its a MUST STOP. You will not be let down!!
(5)Zachary L.
Very good. Had the Ole burger. Very good. Will absolutely return
(4)James A.
Love this place great food and bargain for the price, Sammy the cook knows me by name and always says hello no matter how busy he is.
(5)Sammy P.
I had a chili relleno burro (ask for it) here a few months ago that I'm still dreaming about. If your just passing through town, as we were, make sure to come here, and get a few for the road. It's really easy to miss, keep your eyes peeled and/or ask the locals.
(5)Abe M.
Good food. always a place to stop when driving to the white mountains. There can be a long wait.
(4)Cameron V.
Seriously best green chili in the globe Miami area!!! Can't believe it took me so long to go there.
(4)Tina H.
This place is the BOMB, baby! We just moved to Miami, AZ, and we eat here every chance we get. Try the Burger Olay... double patty burger with Green Chile all over it! The picture is on yelp's page. GREAT food!
(5)Elizabeth R.
Seriously? Everyone who thinks these are great burritos needs to take a trip to Chicago. EVERY corner Taqueria does a better job than this place. Unless you'd like a big ladle of soupy beans, american cheese and floating chunks of semi tough beef in your burrito. They do get an extra star for their low prices and friendly, very cute staff.
(2)James L.
I drive from Prescott's Downtown to Miami/Globe 's Downtown (3.5 hour drive) just to order twelve Green chile and Greenchile-Combo Burros... To Go, two burrittos and two cheeseburgers to eat at a table ...........and a coke.
(5)CARRIE G.
The green burrito is awesome if you can take the heat. The red burrito would be my second choice.
(4)Nicole H.
I was a little suspicious of a Mexican food restaurant named the Burger House but now I will always stop here when passing through Globe/Miami. This comes firefighter recommended (always a plus, because they know food!!). I had the green chili burro. Super messy, but oh so worth it.
(5)Mark M.
This gem in the rough little town of Miami is also known as La Cocina de Casillas and it's right on U.S. 60. You could easily mistake it for a gas station, except there are too many cars looking for a parking spot. They say they specialize in hamburgers, but this place has some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. I was heading back to the valley after a work related conference in Globe and had to try this place after somebody at the conference recommended it. My co-worker and I stopped based on that recommendation, and we saw 6 other conference attendees at this place. It seemed everyone but us knew about the Burger House. If you find yourself in Miami (not the same Miami near Coral Gables), you HAVE to stop at the Burger House!!
(5)Dan T.
Breakfast burritos are awesome. Green Chili is my favorite. A Miami / Globe must stop.
(5)
