Delicious, fresh food, and attentive, friendly service! A great new restaurant on the mountain. The sushi was truly great- we had the W&Z Roll, Lakeside Roll, Sweet Potato Roll, and Philadelphia Roll. The Lakeside was our favorite! We also loved the General Tso's Chicken, tempura appetizer, and edamame. We will definitely be back!

We are lucky to have 3 great Asian places in town, this being the newest. My wife and I frequent the Bistro a few times a month. The wait staff is friendly and food comes out quickly. The clear soup is incredible and my favorite dish is the Japanese Eggplant. I'm not a huge Sushi lover, but whenever people or it with me they are very pleased.

Wow What a surprise up here in nowhere land :) everything we had was delicious and we are picky eaters, we travel as much as we can and love to try different restaurants. Sweet and sour soup was as good as I ve had anywhere, Malayasian flat rice noodles were excellent, and the sesame chicken was delicious, not something we would normally get but my 3 year old daughter saw it on another table so she said she wants the "chicken with sparkles", of course she had one bite and that was it. Great place and great service :)

Decor was very pleasant, menu could be a little more descriptive on dishes but staff was super helpful. For being in a smaller area I was very surprised of the quality and presentation. Would definitely come back.

I have been here for couple times , it is always good. I wrote this review because I saw something on the web said the sushi is over price . This is small town , the only restaurant we can find the good sushi is HERE!!!!!!!!!! When you trying to go out to eat that means it doesn't matter how much you gonna be spend, if somebody really care about the price , the better way is : stay at home , cook it for yourself. For me the sushi here is the top of the mountain here!

No liquor license so they have no beer, wine, or liquor at all. So don't one here if you want more than a Coke with your dinner. Food meh. Service meh. Was going to order another sushi roll but our waitress didn't come back to the table until everyone was all finished. Kind of lame.

Visiting the area for the first time and went here due to sushi cravings and high reviews. Some definite pros and cons: Pros: -Nice atmosphere -The deluxe general tso's (with shrimp) is the best we have ever had! The sauce was To die for and the shrimp was Huge and the true star of the dish. White meat chicken with only a few inedible pieces due to gristle. Cons: -Some of the least friendly and attentive service we have had in quite some time. No smile, walked away (more than once) while we were finishing order or asking a question -fried rice was fried in butter, not Asian oil. Ordered veggie version and hardly any veggies aside from a few stray peas and onion chunks. -the sushi was the biggest disappointment. Sweet potato tempura roll not cooked all the way through and was very hard and not all of our shrimp was cooked on the shrimp California roll. We will not be back, unless we desperately want general tso's.

Because we didn't want to eat Mexican or American bar food while we were staying in Show Low -- we took a little drive over to lakeside for some asian food. It was a bit pricier than normal -- a small bowl of simply boiled edamame was $5 but maybe that's the price for getting food to that small town -- logistics and all. We ordered Chinese food since the kitchen and waitress spoke Mandarin to one another: a plate of beef with black bean sauce that came with a tiny bowl of white rice and chicken lo mein. Those dishes were good. Oh I forgot, husband ordered a spicy tuna hand roll -- it wasn't all that great, but wasn't bad. The decor was modern, not Asian. It seems to be a nice date place if you live there :). The restaurant is clean.

This is a new Japanese sushi restaurant located in Pinetop/Lakeside. The restaurant is very clean, including the bathrooms. My husband ordered the sushi, the Tuna Lovers. Even though he said it was very well made and tasty, but this normally $9 roll was $12. The sushi is expensive. He says this restaurant is made more for the tourists, more of a high-end place, not really for the local folk. (We are local). I ordered the Cashew Chicken, which was delicious! It had a LOT of mushrooms in it, and I'm not a fan of mushrooms...but my hubby and bro-in-law ate then for me. It had sauce on it, and I was pleased it was the perfect amount...not too much or too little. Our son got the Sesame Chicken, which I would order when we go back. It was my favorite! It came with broccoli. The Coconut Rice was great! That is one of my favorites, and I am happy they have it here! You have to pay extra for that, but that's okay. Bro-In-Law got an Eggplant dinner. He said it was undercooked and bitter. He was also was surprised it was Italian eggplant and not Japanese eggplant . I didn't try it, since I do not like eggplant. We all talked afterwards and would go back here. The service was excellent, the staff very friendly. We give 4 stars, since the prices are higher than other Asian restaurants up here. The edamame was $5, which is crazy. I need to add that we ate during dinner. I'm sure the lunch menu is much cheaper. I loved what I ordered and would be happy to come back!

Stopped here for lunch on Sunday. The sign said they don't serve off the lunch menu? About the music...too loud and it was really strange...elevator cover songs..."Let It Go," and a song by Eminem! Not for a restaurant! The menu is very large and covers a huge variety of types of Asian foods and I think that may be where the problems starts. I ordered Malaysia flat rice noodles with shrimp. What I got were regular thin noodles. Shrimp was good...overall not much flavor. My son ordered on ordered Curry with beef. No flavor. Simply too many choices for the lichen to do well. Just wanted to mention because yelped brought me here! Come on yelpers! Bring me to great resaurants, not just great for the town it resides in!

Very good Japanese in the Mountains. Menu has a Nice blend of Habachi, tempura, bento boxes, sushi and sashimi.

They have come to the point where they no longer have the original staff and the quality has seriously depreciated. The wait staff is no longer attentive and courteous. They are abrupt and rude. I called in an order to go and the new hostess speaks very little English and I was not sure she got my order correct. When I got there to pick it up, I had asked a waiter to help verify that the order was right and he was very rude and degrading to me. Sad. I once got excited to come here. Now I don't know if I will ever return.

We love sushi and heard about this place from a guy who had never had sushi. He said he thought it was pricy. We thought it was but not to pricy. The place is really cool and the service was GREAT. The food was pretty good also but not sure if it was close to some of the sushi I get when I'm in San Diego. All in all, I woulod go again and try other delights.
(3)Ron B.
Great sushi. Very attentive wait staff. Real Japanese food. Very good authentic highly recommend. Boom chacka lacka pow!
(5)Jeff I.
I will say that the sushi dishes were quickly prepared. However, overall it was just average food for over average prices and the waitstaff was below average. They just seemed to be doing a lot of walking around doing nothing.

I can't say enough good stuff about this restaurant. My husband and I are regulars here - in fact he never wants to eat anywhere else! - based on the quality of the sushi, the fabulous sushi chef who always recognizes us and goes above and beyond to provide us tasty treats, the service and the ambience. Hands down the best on the Mountain but honestly, it's hard to find sushi in Phoenix that compares with this. It is a bit on the pricey side, but then again, if you are looking for cheap sushi, you can get several days' old stuff from the grocery store. Love, love, love it!
(5)Jeffrey H.
The ambiance and decor at W & Z is nice. The food came out quickly. The menu is clearly an Asian fusion restaurant. I found my Szechuan Peppercorn Crispy Chicken to be okay. I found my friend's Hibachi Chicken to be good. The lack of lunch menu on Sunday was a bit disappointing.
(3)Toni K.
Excellent! Great service and really good food! Great place to eat on the mountain. We had cashew chicken. Beef curry. Mango chicken. Hibachi chicken and several sushi rolls. All were great!!
(5)Shannon D.
First off, we didn't have the service problem of which other people complained. That was the only positive though. The "sushi" was mediocre and very overpriced, especially for what it was. We ordered the chicken satay but we're told they were out of it, so at least that menu item isn't made in house. The water tasted like charcoal. It was so off-putting. My husband had the general tsos chicken which he said wasn't bad. But again it seemed like it was frozen chicken. I'm guessing anything that is not sushi they order premade from Cisco. We definitely will not be back.

This location opened only a few days ago, and with great anticipation, I just had lunch at their establishment. In a word: WOW! Where to start? What a beautiful restaurant inside. I ordered the Japanese Lunch Box with Teriyaki steak- cooked to your desired temp! That lunch included Miso Soup (light and fresh), Salad, California Roll, Pot Stickers and Rice. I'll be attaching the pictures as well. The roll was delicious, the steak cooked perfectly, the freshly steamed vegetables were amazing and the pot stickers quite possibly the best I've ever had. My wife had the white meat Sesame Chicken, and it was equally delicious, and on par with our favorite haunt in Colorado Springs (China Village). The service was likewise impeccable! I can't wait to work my way through their entire menu. I sincerely hope this establishment is embraced by the locals - because such a gem of a Asian restaurant is hard to find, anywhere, anymore and has been impossible on the mountain. Quite literally, better than any I've tried in the Phoenix area! Reasonably priced and considering the quality of ingredients, amazingly priced lunches. They have a gorgeous bar area, but I was told they are waiting on their liquor license. I haven't been this excited about a restaurant on the mountain since moving back here! Congrats W&Z, awesome job! To those complaining about the prices, you get what you pay for... Just because this area is "rural" doesn't mean we should expect everything ridiculously cheap. Those quality ingredients don't come cheap, especially up here on the mountain. I'll gladly pay a few dollars more per entree and enjoy my meal!

very good good, has variety of food, from Thai, Japanese, Chinese. They are authentic.plus the price is reasonable for the amount of food. Will come back again. don't froget the desert.
(4)Ross L.
The Thai crab cakes were very good. Large selection of Asian cuisine. We'll be back.
(4)Patty B.
Love this place. They have some sushi, hibachi, thai, chinese, and so far everything has been delicious!
(5)Leezalin M.
Awesome place N awesome food . Easy to order n quick delivery by these guys. Definitely recommend while you are at Showlow AZ or white mountain area.
(5)Stephanie C.
These guys were very patient with our larger group, that's for sure. The waiter was friendly. The pad thai didn't seem authentic. It was a watered down version of the typically bold-flavored dish. The thai curry bowl: same thing. Everything seemed on the bland side and watered down.
(2)Mike M.
Susi prepared quickly and very tasty very clean restaurant with good wait staff. Only negative is no alcohol license yet which is limiting. Being a very specific restaurant it's odd not to be able to have saki.
(4)Heather S.
My husband and I came here for lunch. Very clean restaurant, with a friendly and courteous staff, but they could have come to check on us a little more often. The tempura shrimp and accompanying sauce were terrific, the crispy chicken spring roll was also outstanding! I had the chicken lo mein while my husband had the general tso's delight. We were both extremely happy with our meals: they both had excellent flavor, a generous portion and elegant presentation. We have been looking for a really good Asian/Chinese restaurant since we moved from Phoenix a year and a half ago, and we've finally found it! We will definitely be coming back to enjoy more meals here.
(5)Katie F.
This place has a large variety of Asain food in addition to sushi. My husband and I ordered the pork dumplings which were hot and delicious. We also ordered several sushi rolls which included a crunchy tuna roll, Phoenix roll, and one with sweet potato (I forget the name). They were all very tasty. This place has the best sushi on the mountain. Do be aware that prices are what you would excpect to pay for sushi in a metropolitan area. We will be back to try the other non-sushi items as well.

YES! A GREAT restaurant! My family have tried many of the local eateries on the mountain since moving here in April. This ones the best. First, it's very, very clean, with a hip feel. Bathrooms are spotless, the service couldn't be better, and the food is spot on. We really wanted to get a good feel for the menu, so we ordered ALOT of food. And the menu is extensive, offering great lunch options, Chinese, Japanese, Thai food and sushi! Many rolls can be had for under 6-7$, they offer a nice variety of 2 for 9.95 options and the signature rolls are about 14$. We had chicken fried rice, dynamite roll (yumm), tuna avocado roll, and spicy crabmeat roll (nice), schezuan shredded beef (awesome) and two of their 9$ lunch boxes. The lunch boxes are phenomenal, offering an entree, white rice, salad AND a half California roll! Drinks, food, and tax came to just under 80$ and we could have ordered half the food. This is our go to spot for Asian food, we love it and you will to! Try it and see for yourself! We're from Las Vegas, we've seen a lot of sushi spots and this is among the best anywhere!

Amazing food, as good if not better than you can get in the Valley. Great sushi and wonderful Thai crab cakes
(5)Rolland E.
Great new restaurant. Large menu of tasty Japanese, Chinese, and Thai options. Clean. Lunch offerings remarkable for the price.
(5)Beth B.
The whole family (10) of us ate here and everyone was happy. Sushi was delicious especially the mango one. Vegetable tempura perfect. Soups were very tasty. I had the wok basil chicken, also very tasty. The servings were generous and the service was good. We had green tea tempura ice cream to celebrate 2 family birthdays. Will definitely return.
(5)Brian S.
The sushi was average. We also ordered hibachi, and the steak was fairly tough, but the fried rice was excellent.
