My husband took me here the other night for my birthday dinner. We were so pleased with absolutely everything! Our server, Butch, was so pleasant, courteous and fun and could not have taken better care of us throughout our dinner. The drinks, warm bread, salad, entrees and dessert were superb. My husband ordered the crab and steak and I had the ribs and tempura shrimp. Delicious! The ambiance was nice with soft jazz music playing in the background rather than screaming loud music which so many places have and which precludes having any conversation. It will be our go to place for special occasions, for sure!

They warned us it would take an hour for sushi so probably shouldn't order it, but it took an hour for everything, even to get our dinner salad. I only had water and I didn't get a refill in my 6 ounce glass for over 20 minutes, I was dehydrated. The food was good that's why I give two stars.

We had 5 in our dinner party last night. The food and service I would give 5 stars and now the but comes. It was no fault of the resturant that a party of 7 and 5 out of the 7 were small children. I totally hold the parents or grandparents responsible for the over the top screaming and crying of the children. The noise was so loud we could not carry on a conversation. We will go back and hope the parents or grandparents will be more considerate of other people in the resturant!

I went to The Chalet tonight and had wonderful service from Nicole. She is fabulous. I ordered the Salmon and would highly recommend this dish and restaurant. I also would recommend the calamari as an appetizer. If you visit The Chalet, ask for Nicole.

I received a recommendation from a friend for this restaurant. I was looking forward to a pleasant dinner. From the start it was disappointing and frustrating. We walked in and could smell nothing but a mixture of ammonia and smoke. I appreciate clean tables but it was overwhelming. The smell of old smoke came out of the bar and assailed us while we waited for a host to appear. I did not see anyone smoking, maybe it's the leftover smoke in the carpeting from years gone by. Once seated, we ordered drinks . We had to ask twice about our cocktail. Finally, we ordered dinner and settled in for a forty, yes forty minute wait. We received an explanation, they were busy, yet the restaurant was only half full. The table next to us received their meal five minutes after us even though they were seated but one half an hour after we arrived. Does this compute???? When our meal finally arrived, it was incorrect. I asked for beef stroganoff with rice but received noodles, the salmon was ordered glassy, glassy stressed. Of course it was over cooked and the smallest portion I have ever seen of salmon. Wow! I attempted to locate the limited pieces of beef and sauce within the overwhelming noodles. I was not very successful. Very small portions with the not so small price tag. Do not plan to return. Restaurant has seen better days and the manager couldn't have cared less about our mixed up and delayed orders.y

We had dinner here with friends while visiting our old hometown. The Chalet is upscale by Pinetop-Lakeside standards, and the food was excellent. The two in our group had the salmon dinner, another the cashew encrusted snapper, and I had the country fried steak. Everything was delicious, the service was excellent, and we had no complaints at all. Probably one of the very best places to dine in the area.

Living in Phoenix, I would give this 3 stars, but for Pinetop, it is 4-5 Stars. The Service was phenomenal and the Menu had a lot of choices. We both ordered Sea Food, it was okay- next time I will go with Beef. The Shrimp cocktail was a lot smaller than we anticipated and nothing special, so I would steer clear. The Atmosphere and Service and choices on the menu are why I will be back.

This place is AWESOME! We had the best sushi we have ever had on our lives...get the Jalapeño popper roll it is unbelievable. Then I had the best filet ever! I also really appreciated the salad with all the veggies on top served on a chilled plate. The service was EXCELLENT. And because we were celebrating we got the chocolate cake and the owner suggested adding a blueberry sauce and it was fantastic. I highly recommend this place.

I have to give this place a mixed review. After living in the area for 6 years, my husband and I finally decided it was high time we tried The Chalet. The atmosphere was nice in the restaurant but we ate in the bar, which was nicely appointed. My husband ordered off the early bird menu and got salmon. Although the food was fresh, it was extremely bland and the portion size of the salmon was tiny. I ordered off the menu for Sharky's Sushi Bar and got sashimi along with a California roll and Boston roll. It was FANTASTIC! The portions were huge and incredibly fresh and expertly rolled. Service was great, although my husband got his food way before I did (and I ordered something that doesn't require cooking!!!). I will definitely be back for the delicious and fresh sushi but probably won't try the restaurant food again, especially considering the prices which are some of the highest on the mountain.

We've been here a couple times, had fish or chicken. I liked that I could get "clean" healthy sauceless or butterless food. That is nice. I've had the soup as well, it was pretty good. However quite expensive for the food. Once in a while is OK. Maybe the specials would be a good option, I don't believe we bought those.

Atmosphere, catfish and cake rum. The sushi bar an interesting alcove. I stay on the farmed fresh water fish side of the menu for boring environmental reasons. I ate the best catfish I've tasted in years here. No swampy taste, it was sweet, cooked and seasoned perfectly. The steamed vegetables almost had sharp, crunchy crispness. I also had a California roll with no crab or krab. It was fine. There are finer sushi artists on the planet. There are worse. If it's sushi-only for you, the s-bar is a personality-filled niche loaded with interesting owner's memorabilia. Sharkey, lending the nook his picture and name, hides in the shadows at the entrance to the relaxing, romantic bar. If there was a piano artist playing, it could be seductive. Dining room background music is soothing classical. And finally, the cake rum, I mean the rum cake. I had a taste, since our server insisted we try it. One spark in the vicinity and I might be writing this from the Maricopa County Burn Unit. Chefs world-wide have the sponge cake recipe. When they want to go to war, vast numbers of the mini bundt cakes are baked, drowned in rum, set aflame, and hurled into opponent's kitchens using tiny catapults made of large kitchen spoons wound tight on apron strings by sous chefs. Six were at table. We're talking about a second visit this week. No more desserts please. I'd rather be set afire by Sweet D in the bar drinking a Buckler n/a or Navarro Vineyards Pinot Noir juice while Kevin Mahogany plays "Killer Joe" and other favorites quietly in the background.
