This little place cooks simple food well, which is something I have come to appreciate after so many places that cook simple food poorly. All the standard breakfast items and for lunch there are burgers and sandwiches .... nothing on the menu will surprise you but you will be very pleased with the quality of what you order. Seems like a locals place mostly ... it is a mile or so from exit 53 away from all the places where the tourists usually eat. I'm glad such an old fashioned place is still around. Decor and furniture is modest but service very friendly.

I came here looking for some indulgent diner food on my way to Flagstaff, AZ and I found it to be fairly unwelcoming and the menu to be small and overly complicated. The staff are very friendly, although not very attentive. I also found the place to be a little dirty round the edges and very greasy smelling. Which wasn't very nice in the heat. The food was below par, maybe this is a great 'local' place but I feel like tourists will not enjoy the food here. It's cheap and low quality product. I had the French Toast and I could taste that it had been fried in a dirty, used pan. Not pleasant.

I travel frequently for my job and every time I pass by Kingman, AZ, I always make it a point to stop by Grandpa's Kitchen for some of their yummy food. I always get their breakfast whatever time I get there. You can never go wrong with hash with gravy and chicken fried steak! The portions are HUGE! Tip: They only take cash.

When I travel, I am always in the look out for hole in the wall place that serves good food especially breakfast. This place came up on the top of search results for breakfast places around kingman,AZ. It definitely looked like small neighborhood breakfast place with funny quotes on the wall, paintings of farms, family pictures of the owners. The food was decent, large portions and the price was right.

Really great biscuits and gravy..country fried chicken and gravy. Dirty place but good food and good customer service.

Old fashioned diner filled with locals...great service, old styled comfort food. Reasonable portions for the price. Would return...

I am so happy to report that my first experience here was a smash hit. the chicken fried steak is outstanding and so are the home fries. the atmosphere is quaint and unpretentious, not to mention kid friendly. I believe that the diner experience can not be overlooked because it is a quintessential American tradition and Grandpa's Kitchen carries the tradition very well. i will certainly be back

Came here based on the yelp reviews and sadly I was very disappointed. Food was not good! Portions are big and prices are decent but food is not good. I got the country fried steak and left it all on the plate. Another thing I didn't like is they don't offer a kids menu. French toast was the best thing we ordered.

If you enjoy the small town diner experience, you need to check this place out. Yeah, it won't look like your commercial chains like IHOP because it's a local diner with yummy food. You wouldn't eat these types of meals every day as they are a bit greasy with gernerous toppings of butter, but they can fry up some food like a southerner. The prices are almost too low for the portions, but after seeing the price of gas in Kingman, it seems to line up with the cost of living. Three of us ladies had breakfast there when stopping through on a road trip; we left full and happy.

A delicious, "greasy spoon". We ordered the Club Sandwich and Patty Melt for lunch on a Friday afternoon. There were a fair number of people and the food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. The fries were crispy, the bread was fresh and everything was truly delicious. Can't wait to come back and try breakfast!

Stopped by here on the way to the Grand Canyon from Vegas. Very satisfied - this place is the real deal. Even the mugs were all different, just like at home. There's a lot of meat on the menu, but a handful of vegetarian dishes too. We had delicious home fries and hot cakes (pancakes). Coffee was great, and Price is good too.

If only I could add more stars...... let me tell you something, their cornbeef hash is SO GOOD!!! I'd take a picture, but my plate is empty. The hasbrowns....bacon. (Homer Simpson drool) and when you get an OJ..they don't give you one of those little sissy glasses...you get one of them grown folks glasses!! I found my new fix. And I must say..aside from the Apple pancakes at Crackle Barrel, this is the best place for breakfast. Come with an appetite. They don't mess around.

Are you on your way to Vegas or Laughlin and find yourself in Kingman, I have a restaurant suggestion for you. It's only about 2 miles off the beaten path and it's Grandpa's Kitchen. The pancakes are the best thing on the menu, I think. The day we went, there was a blueberry pancake special and I went with it and was very happy. It isn't much to look at, but the food is great and worth stopping and trying it. Wish my grandpa cooked this well!

I had read reviews on Yelp prior to coming here and they sounded great. It was a little in the opposite way of which we were going, but it was worth it. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the mismatched coffee cups and I loved it. We sat down and noticed the pictures of cars and various other pictures which were interesting. We were handed menus and the selection is a standard breakfast place. I ordered the french toast with ham and my boyfriend ordered the breakfast burrito, half an order of biscuits and gravy, and toast. He was clearly unaware of the portion sizes at the time. The french toast was delicious. It was smothered in butter so if you aren't a fan of butter, I suggest getting it on the side. I am like Paula Deen when it comes to butter so I was stoked. The breakfast burrito was huge. I have a photo, but it does not do it justice at all. This item can easily be shared because it is so big, it is cut into two different pieces. The biscuits and gravy was huge and this was only a half order. After I ate the french toast, I was full so I could only pick at the biscuits and gravy and we didn't even finish it. Toast is toast. Also, cash only. The bill came out to be less than $20 bucks total excluding tip and he took the other half of the burrito plus the other biscuit with gravy. I didn't even finish my meal so it's a really good value for the amount of food you get. The service is great and you can tell a lot of locals go there. The interior isn't anything crazy, but the food is delicious and that's what matters. I would go back if I am ever in the area.

You would never guess from the curb side, you would never guess as you walk in.. But this place has the best hash I have had in years.. I have looked high and low and east to west.. For just plain down home good corn beef hash.. One would not think the sh*t on a shingle would be hard to find well it is not hard to find, just hard to find done right not spruced up with a bunch of stuff that's not suppose to be in there.. Classic yummy grub at grandpas.. Friendly staff that's never lets the coffee cup run dry.. For surely a good joint to stop at..

  • Kathy B.

I have to admit the service is great! But its an old time coffee shop, I would never have coffee here...yuck...but a greasy spoon diner it is for sure..if you like that sort of thing.

Good food, big portions, friendly people lots of locals. We ordered chicken fried steak, chorizo and pancakes. Was happy, but food was a little greasy.

Mismatched coffee cups. I loved that about this place. Their inexpensive breakfast was very filling, comforting and freshly prepared. The staff was attentive, friendly and efficient. If you are in the Arizona area and need to take a rest stop for food, this is your go to place. You get a lot for your money! Would recommend this to friends and family :)

Okay this place has daily specials that are awesome, but today they really went to the top of my favorite sandwich list. Cuban melt with pork roast , ham , Swiss and American cheese on a toasted roll similar to a panini. Very flavorful Sammy .

We didn't feel like making a mess in the in-laws kitchen, so my son and I went to check this place out. They Yelp reviews were promising. We walked in and were told to sit wherever. We also weren't looking for big breakfasts because we were going out to lunch. The menu is small and has a perfect breakfast selection. We both decided to get the 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy. I added a scrambled egg to mine. Service was quick and we dug in. The biscuit was a little dry, but they give you enough gravy to soak it up. I am a sausage gravy snob (my mother-in-law gave me her recipe and I compare everything to it). The gravy was flavorful and nice pieces of sausage in it. Not my mother-in-laws, but good enough I would return for it again. My son and I ate about 1/2 our orders (we could have split an order) and took the rest to go. I will definitely be back to try their regular breakfast plates and am guessing that my star review will increase. If your traveling this is definitely worth the stop! Oh and like a few other Yelpers have reviewed it is CASH ONLY.

My Dad would've loved this place--good food for a good price. Check that, GREAT price. My wife and I had breakfast for $15 out the door. The biscuits and gravy side was enormous...and delicious. The diner has very dated decor but that's as much nostalgia as anything else.

Great little "mom and pop" place! The staff was so happy and made you feel as though you really were in "Grandpa's" kitchen! They knew many of the customers by name but treated the "new comers" as though they were still part of their family. The food was real home cooked comfort food. My husband and I got burgers, the meat tasted fresh (not frozen) and like they had just pulled it off a BBQ! My son (1 1/2 years) got Micky Mouse pancakes (which were free!) and he cleared off his whole plate! We will defiantly be going here again!

We were on our way to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas and got hungry. So we stopped and wanted to try a local place rather than the tourist spots. It was a nice hometown feel, with Christmas cups and all. The food was excellent everything you would expect from your favorite diner. Highly suggest this place for all your breakfast needs!

I make it a point to come here every time I come home. Excellent food, great service, and ideal prices make this mom and pop restaurant a must if you're on your way through town!

Biscuits are huge and hand made every morning. Portions are plentiful, prices are very easy on the wallet. This will be our regular breakfast/ lunch spot in Kingman. CASH only!!

We are taking Route 66 and have been traveling from Michigan. This was the best breakfast we've had since we left home!!

  • Scott K.

This place is great! It really is a greasy spoon diner, but that's ok. The food is filling and cheap. This is one of my new favorite stops!

    (4)
  • Nick S.

This place has the best breakfast. They give you huge portions. They could easily charge double or give you half of what they give you and you'd be totally satisfied. For example, their half biscuit comes on a plate by itself. They also have the best hashbrowns I've ever tasted.

The special today was a Philly Cheesesteak. Most primo, excellante, bueno, good!!!

  • Amanda L.

We are taking a quick bite on our way to grand canyon. Searched on yelp and found this place with good reviews. In general, it's ok for breakfast, usual American style. I don't see anything special. The portion is not big at all. I'm not a big eater but really, the portion is not good enough for a guy. Code is way too diluted so I'll say it's like a coffee flavored water. This place doesn't take credit cards so prepare your cash.

  • Rachele R.

Wow...old hometown breakfast! Feel like I'm back in Iowa at a local diner. Everything was hot..buttery and delicious. Best chicken fried steak and gravy. Well worth the side trip away from the chains.

  • Kit K.

Great portions, large selection and they even have grits!! The food was good and the service was great. The only thing that would make this 5 stars would be A/C - there isn't any and the flies are annoying. Other than that, great breakfast!

  • Lindsey R.

LOVED this place. The food was fantastic and the service was wonderful and quick. They did everything they could to make us happy. We were recently on a road trip driving along the first part of Route 66. This was a wonderful spot to have breakfast. The only weird thing is it was cash only. Thankfully we had cash and were able to enjoy this little spot.

Delicious and hearty breakfast! Tasty home fries, eggs, bacon and homemade biscuit. Large portions, excellent service and the right price. Friendly atmosphere. All locals.

The atmosphere is a little on the divey side but the wait staff and the food make you completely forget where you are at! My neice was shivering and blurted out, "don't the believe in warm air around here" and next thing you know the waitress offered to turn down the air. Are you serious? Awesome attention to their diners! The same neice ordered biscuits and gravy and feel apart when the gravy was all over the biscuit. Before you knew out came a HUGE plain biscuit with a variety of jams. The servings are epic. The biscuits perfect, the hashbrowns perfectly browned on both sides and an amazing garlicky chicken fried steak. The food is delecious! Grandpa can cook!!

We ate here the other morning and were quite pleased. From friends I have heard about how big their portions are. I had the special, chorizo and eggs, great flavor and a healthy portion with hash browns, that were nice and moist, and a tortilla. My wife had a cheese omelet with hash browns and biscuit and gravy. You can choose how many eggs you want in your omelet. Omelet was good, and again a generous portion of great hash browns. The biscuit and gravy was over the top, A tall fluffy soft biscuit and great tasting gravy.I would have given it 5 stars but I want to try a few more selections first. Wait staff was good and my coffee cup was kept full. We will return!!

After a bad experience during our vacation with a breakfast chain in Flagstaff, we bypassed that city altogether on the way back to California and ended up stopping in Kingman, AZ for a local breakfast place. Grandpa's Kitchen is the way breakfast should be all the time! Not only large portions, but TASTY FOOD as well. Don't know how they make any money as the prices are so low... Next time we travel to New Mexico, this will be a "must stop" on the way. Victor

A great place for an off the beaten path breakfast or lunch in Kingman. The waitstaff were friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious and hearty. It's kind of dumpy, but that's what gives it character and why we like places like this. It's not all cookie cutter decor/food. Worth the stop for a good meal served with a smile. Bring cash as they do not accept credit/debit cards.

Saw the great reviews on yelp. Passing through Kingman on the way to climbing in NV, we decided to give it a try. A bit off the main hiway, but worth hunting down. Great value for the low price, food fixed just right. Fluffy flapjacks, tasty sausage, and a great place for people-watching. And apple butter, too! The owner, Cathy, waits tables and took great care of us. One of the high points of the trip.

We stayed the night in Kingman during a cross country road trip. Breakfast here was great! We had the griddle cakes & hash browns - the cakes were just right and the 'browns were deliciously crisp. They even gave our little one a Mickey mouse pancake for free! If we ever come through Kingman again, we're definitely eating breakfast at Grandpas Kitchen again!

Despite the fact that Grandpa doesn't take credit cards and we had to go down to the Schlump and Pump to use the ATM machine, the man does know how to slam together a breakfast. For $3.99 you can get six hotcakes, and egg, and a piece of breakfast meat, which ain't too shabby. I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs. The hash browns were done, the toast was toasted, the eggs were a little under-cooked, but the corned beef hash was good. Waitress kept the coffee-cup full. Nothing spectacular in the coffee department, but it was hot and contained caffeine, which is all that was required this particular morning. The lad's usual (breakfast bacon cheeseburger) looked good. Someone else at the table ordered a sweet roll which was glazed in something which made the whole thing off-the-scale ring-your-molars sweet. Hate to come down off THAT sugar high.

I love this place. My husband and I try to get here once a week. It reminds me of diners we would go to when I was a kid. Awesome hash browns.

  • Ali B.

The food is really good here. Portion is very large though, so gotta make sure you have enough room in your stomach. Their chicken friend steak and pork are awesome. Their corned beef hash are also pretty good, although there are better beef hash somewhere else.

  • Nick C.

Great breakfast. Cash only. The portions are huge. Ordered a breakfast and two sides for two people. Could have easily fed 4 people. And I am a big guy.

I really appreciate a cook who knows how to make eggs. So often I go out for breakfast and whoever is in the kitchen has no respect for eggs, overcooking them, or using too high heat. The cook here at Grandpa's Kitchen understands food and uses a gentle touch. The eggs were delicious, as were the hash browns. Doug had the pancakes and I tried a few bites, as there was just too much on the plate for him to finish, and they were wonderfully light and tasty. Service is friendly and professional. If you're driving through Kingman and staying the night, this is the place to come for breakfast.

Simple neighborhood restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Huge portions of American comfort food. Reminds me a bit of a throwback to the 60s. Dont expect anything fancy but if you want a good solid meal this is the place. NO A/C...NO CREDIT CARDS.

Fantastic food, great price, and cool atmosphere. We were passing through and wanted to try something other than a chain. If you're looking for Denny's, don't come here. Highly recommend!

We have passed through Kingman dozens of times and just found this place. If you are looking for a "real" breakfast - NOT barrel or evans, this is the place. I could go on about how good the presentation on the plate or how the ham was or it tasted like home but I think you should give them a try on your next trip and find out for your self. O and by the way, my wife just mentioned the great Music they play.

Looked this up on Yelp and found what most had to say was consistent with my experience here. Fast and friendly service. The breakfast I ordered could be shared between not only 2 but actually 3 people. Excellent quality and value for the money. The Free WIFI worked wonderfully. Am thinking of relocating here to Kingman and so far this seems like this will be my breakfast hangout. Keep up the good work !.
