I got the cup of soup and 1/2 sandwich. The French onion soup was tasty and the sandwich was ok. I gave it such a low rating because the half sandwich was ridiculously small. Like maybe 3-4 bites and it was done. Pretty disheartening considering the price!Wanted to try a new place since I am new working in the area. Probably won't come back again. Too expensive for what you get. Service was good though.

Great food, nice atmosphere, prices are a higher than they should be for food. I would go here more often if the prices weren't so inflated, food is great but not worth what they charge. I like to go here when it's just me and my wife, they are not anti-children, but don't offer much for kids like crayons or a kids menu to color on. Location hurts this place, but I am glad to have it close to my house. Like I said, just a "tad" pricey. The bar manager Logan is a cool guy too.

My wife and I stopped here (first time) for a beer and some pub food. We sat at the bar, and never made it past the first beer. The bartender was as negative as any we've ever seen. She had a running commentary going with anyone who would listen to her about all of her complaints, and soon she had all of the staff around her complaining as well. We didn't come in to hear lots of employees gripe about their problems, so we left. We have no idea how the food is, and we won't be back to find out.

This is so sad as Mac's Pub has been one of our favorite places to dine in Green Valley but our experience on St Patrick's Day left much to be desired. In fact, if this would have been our first visit it would have been our last. We had made reservations earlier in the day, which they couldn't find at first......off to a bad start. Service was terrible! Had to wait a half an hour to get a pre dinner drink and our dinner took almost an hour. I had the Corn Beef and Cabbage. Carrots, potatoes were good but the corn beef was more like ham! My wife ordered a Rubin, which she has enjoyed there in the past. This time the sandwich was about half the size of other time and the French fries were almost non-existent! Of did I say my meal was not hot.....just warm. We finally finished and attempted to get our bill but the computer was down!!!!! That took another 15 minutes to figure out. Now if this wasn't enough the owner of the place was there and he appeared to be drunk. He sure didn't help his staff. Bottom line is we will try Mac's Pub again only because it has been good other times. Mac hope your read this review and make the necessary changes!!!!

Excellent service, food and drinks. Love the friendly atmosphere, the entertainment and the fact that when you get up and sing your favorite karaoke song, the folks there (guests and employees) make you feel welcome and don't seem to mind if you can't carry a tune. After all-it's about having fun and enjoying yourself.

Mac's is a nice addition to the Green Valley/Sahuarita area which is definitely lacking in dining choices. My concern is whether there will enough customers interested in traditional British pub food & quality imported beer on tap; they've already replaced Amstel Light w/Bud Lite (horrible). I've traveled to Britain & Ireland several times & I can vouch for the authtentecity of (& portion size & quality) of their savory pies, Scotch eggs and Cornish Pasties - the Reuben sandwich & the French Onion & seafood (soups) are top notch; even the fried calamari (squid) was lightly battered (including tenticles) was tasty & not greasy. I would have given Mac's 4 stars, but I've seen some service issues: Twice the bar tender went on a cigarette break w/.o anyone covering the bar & I was also there when a barkeep & the kitchen mgr argued about her hours & # of days. A thank you & good-bye from the hostess would have been a nice gesture upon leaving. I do hope that Mac's finds it's niche & is a success!

I come to Mac's quite often. I love the coupon in the Sahuarita News. I recently moved to Rancho Sahuarita and have lived in Southern California, Tucson and close to Seattle. I have been to some very nice restaurants over the years so not many restaurants can make me go "Wow!" especially over a hamburger, but I found myself going "Wow! and devouring it. Since I have visited more than a few times, I feel my review is not flattery but a true sense of the Mac's Pub & Patio experience. First, In Green Valley there are very few restaurants. The restaurant owners here know there is not much competition and most of them take advantage because of it. They overcharge, nickel and dime and downsize the portions. On top of that, because they exist in a retirement community, they don't bother seasoning anything. This is NOT the case with Mac's Pub and Patio. The portions are good, the food is flavorful and the prices range from $8-$13 a plate. So, let me break down the different dishes I've eaten. The Cottage Pie - similar to the shepherd's pie but made with hamburger in a nice pot roast tasting gravy, topped with mashed potatoes and cheese. A side of vegetables makes this pretty well rounded although I would love to have a little more vegetables. The whole dish is very good and filling. I took some home and my son inhaled it. I give this a 3.5 out of 5 because it is not their best pie but it is still worth the price and very tasty. The Savory Steak and Guinness Pie - This is by far their best pie!! I love steak and this pie is out of this world. The gravy is unique and has a distinct flavor ( probably from the beer flavoring). The pieces of steak were the right size and the pastry top was flaky. This is not your ordinary pie crust. It's a square pastry top. The side of vegetables complete your meal. Yum! Yum! Yum! A big 5 out 5 for this outstanding pie! The Chicken Wrap with pasta salad - How can I express the love I had for this happy mouth special. It was so delicious I would have sang for joy but my mouth was full of delectable goodness so instead I just happily munched along. 5 out of 5 The Cheeseburger - This is the BEST restaurant cheeseburger in the state and it's even more awesome because the fries just send the whole thing over the top. Now, I'm not a batter dipped fry fan but these are no ordinary batter dipped fries. They are crispy and seasoned on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. PERFECT BATTER DIPPED FRIES! The burger is big and juicy and seasoned just right. I usually get it with crisp bacon and that just makes the harmony of pig and cow dance together in a perfect unison on your taste buds. Happy Times! Humming while you eat is in order. 5 out 5 and I don't think this burger can get any more perfect!!

This restaurant made me say "Wow", but not in a good way. I have been here 5 or 6 times. Only one of those times did I get edible food, and I have never had good service. I don't understand how they stay in business. It's always empty, and after tasting the food I know why. Also, when the food is bad and I send it back, there is not even an apology or an offer of compensation. They need a new cook and new servers. I have crossed this place off my list. It's on the skids.

We have eaten here a few times with friends the food has always been good, great atmosphere.

Good service. Gluten free Fish and Chips were good. Cottage pie was good. If you're in Green Valley try it.

It sounded like a great place to go for St. Patrick's Day. NOT!! We made a reservation and took two friends, it was the first time for all of us; the only good thing was there wasn't any problem getting seated at 5:30. The waiter was obviously overloaded with too many people to care for timely. When we got our meal it was a disaster; it was cold, there was hardly any cabbage on two of three plates for those of us that ordered corned beef and cabbage, and the corned beef was the toughest I had ever had. The waiter, Max, did everything he could to make it right; he got us more cabbage and fresh cuts of corned beef which was tender. All this took a long time; we were there one and half hours then the computer went down and we waited another half hour just to pay the bill and, I was paying cash. The manager was working the bar and couldn't address any issues and the owner, Chris, spent the evening "in the kitchen" instead of making things right with deducting some of the cost or giving free meals. Lousy PR! First and last time!!

When they first opened they has awesome fresh potato skins. Now they are so-so. They offer gluten-free and I like the fish. But the fries are not GF so it doesn't give you many options for a food side. Per other diners the fries aren't good so maybe they should go back to the original fresh cut fries. Also they don't keep GF beer in cooler. What!! If I want a GF dinner I want GF beer to go with it! No need to serve it with ice because it's warm! And the bar tender is very rude!!

We wanted some comfort food so headed to Mac's. Greeted by the friendly bartender and took a seat in a booth. Our drink order was taken quickly and served just as quickly. Great martini! The live entertainment was very good and the sound level did not overwhelm the room. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. They were out of bangers and mash so I had the fish and chips which were very good. Scott had a shepherds pie, big chunks of tender meat with a flaky crust on top. The steamed veggies were good also. We didn't see any of the slowness other reviewers talked about. Definitely will go back and hope others retry this Pub.

We had heard alot about this restaurant and decided to try it. My husband and I both ordered the fish and chips---which is the most popular item. I don't eat coleslaw so I asked if there were any substitutions. There were but only if I paid extra. The meal was already pricey for a lunch. I told them just forget the coleslaw and bring the fish and chips. The meal arrived. The fish portion was nice sized. The french fries were good. The fish had no flavor. The entire meal was swimming in grease. I ate the french fries on top and peeled the batter off the fish and ate the top part of that. I didn't eat most of it. My husband also peeled off the batter and tried to avoid eating the grease. No one asked if we enjoyed our meal. What makes me mad, at myself, is that we paid and left without telling the manager, who never stopped at our table. Would we eat there again. Maybe, if friends want to go, but will try the hamburger. We won't take clients there. Eat somewhere else if you want good fish and chips. Just didn't like the place.

Went for late lunch at 2:50 today. Disaster! One bartender/waiter for 20 people. It took 25 minutes for our Fish & Chips to arrive and I wish it hadn't. Fish was overcooked and dry. I peeled of the crust and ate the dry fish. Yep, I ate it because I was there and "IT" was there. I've been to the place many times and the only complaint was slow service at times but the food had been great. Not so today. Our bartender/waiter also asked my wife "how's it going Sweetheart". He called me Boss, Bud, and Guy. ZERO class. I had heard that Mac's was kind of going down hill and with this kind of service and presentation of food I fear Mac's won't be long for Green Valley. It's a shame as I really liked the place.

I have to admit I was impressed. Rarely does a place manage to fail on every level so... yay, Mac's, you exceeded my expectations tonight. In all fairness, this is not my first visit. the first being for a beer on a Friday night. There were maybe 8 people in the building including the bartender and another, I presume, was the off-duty bartender. In a nearly empty bar it took 20 minutes to receive improperly poured Guinness. Still, in the spirit of optimism, we decided to give it another go. I have to congratulate the consistency in service. Our waitress graciously asked us, "Whaddya want to drink?" After waiting 20 minutes for our drinks, and another 10 minutes to place an order, we sat with one setting on the table (consisting of a knife rolled in a napkin) for another 20 minutes while we waited for our food. Our waitress finally returned to the table only to inform us that they were out of the steak and Guinness pie and did my husband want to order something else.... while informing me that my food was ready. Would I like to eat it now or have it held under the heat lamp while they fixed my husband's plate. In what universe do you wait to advise your customer that the kitchen is out of a menu item until the remaining item on the ticket is ready to be served.... with no apology? At the rate the service was progressing, my husband suggested I go ahead and eat it while it was still hot. It was not. Aside from being lukewarm, after dousing it with malt vinegar, a generous amount of salt, and having to request a lemon, it was flavorless. I will admit when the burger my husband ordered arrived, it was not bad. Or maybe it was the hour he had to wait for food to finally appear. They generously deducted $1.10 from our $35 bill.... for what we don't know. And we probably never will as we have no intention of ever returning.

So much potential...it just had the feel of a place that hasn't figured it out yet. The beer was warm, the service was chaotic, and the food was bland. I like the feel, style, and authenticity, but it needs some work. The owner was very involved, and I could tell he has passion...I'll try again next time we're out in GV.
(2)Phil W.
Great food, and inexpensive beer. We had the fish and chips and ruben, both were very good. Service was great, and the beers on tap were extensive.

Average bar food, but good service.

Slow is an understatement! Reservations are not required but necessary. After waiting over an hour, we get seated and then we're asked to move to accommodate a party that is handicapped. That party gets immediate attention and we are ignored and left without a menu. Excuse, we ran out! Half hour later server comes back and says he lost our order. As for food, it was hot, tasteless and bland but that is typical of English pub food. Would we come back...no!

This is a great restaurant. The British pub menu and wide selection of beers are great, as is the staff, particularly Mac, the owner. They had a bit of a learning curve just after they opened in November 2012 due to being overwhelmed with business, but are well past that now. We live nearby and go there frequently. Highly recommend the Shepherd's Pie.

Mac has done a great job with this place. Good English pub food, great bar. My wife Jeanne had the hamburger. It was one of the best she's ever had, We like our burgers rare, and this one was cooked to perfection. The beef in the burger was high quality and the bun was good. The only complaint was that the bun wasn't grilled, which is a must for a great burger. I had the Reubin Sandwich. It was great also. The atmosphere is nice and the service is excellent. Seniors frequent the pub, but are usually all gone by 5:30. Happy hour is from 2-6.

Good service , not so good food. Had a Ruben sandwich, not very good. Atmosphere was old, musty, needs a facelift.
(1)Amber S.
I walked in and thought oh, quiet. It was a good atmosphere and the wait staff was promt. The fish and chips was huge and very tasty. Wanted bangers and mash and they were out, boo. I will come back for it. Beer selection good, foreign and domestic, but why would one order domestic at a british style pub anyway. Had the London pride. Good combo
(3)Millie R.
We had the fish and chips. It was very good and the staff were efficient and friendly. We will go back the next time we are in Green Valley AZ.
(5)Connie C.
Unlike the previous owners, under a different name, the food is not very good. The atmosphere is what you would expect for a pub. The furnishings are OK. The owner is not very friendly and doesn't appreciate regulars the way he should. They should receive special perks: AND THE HAPPY HOURS ARE RIDICULOUS! NEVER HEARD OF A HAPPY HOUR ENDING AT 4 O'CLOCK IN THE AFTERNOON EXCEPT IN GREEN VALLEY. AND THE PRICES ARE HIGH FOR WHAT YOU GET.
(2)Sheila L.
Overdue review! Stopped in for a bite with my dad while visiting from California in late January, and was not disappointed! I ordered the delicious mushroom pie without cheese as recommended by Jess our adorable waitress. It was outstanding, as was our service. Jess is personable, fun and really made our visit worthwhile. Stop in if you get a chance, best pub in Green Valley.

Living in Sahuarita there aren't many dining options nearby. My fiancé and I tried this place to stay closer to home. Normally we go into Tucson for a good dining experience. Seems to be a popular place for the 50+ crowd. The interior is rustic and a little outdated. Service was very slow! The waitress was very pleasant but the appetizer and drinks took a long time. Our waitress checked in on us very frequently so I think it had more to do with the kitchen and bartender filling our order. An hour after we had ordered our dinner entree we realized she had never even put the order in with the kitchen. So we finished our drinks and left. I cannot say that we will be back here. Even if the service and food would have been better I still would not return as I was not thrilled with the layout and feel of the place in general.

Area: The area is not bad. It is located at the corner of the Safeway shopping center in Green Valley. The food: The food was just okay. I felt that it was overpriced for what it was but its not bad if you are looking for a place to drink and just have some food on the side. Families: Not really a great place to take your young kids to eat. The MacNCheese alone was more than $5/bowl just to have Kraft MacNCheese. If I were to go again, it would be without them. Overall: I am indifferent about this place. I am not excited to go back but will go back with a group of friends if this is where the consensus lies. If you go, go as a couple or with a few friends and not with a family of young kids.

Love love love this place! Family friendly. Great food at a nice price. Patio outback. Gluten free options. Friendly service too.

Greasy fish swimming up an oil river... nice setting, not too noisy. Good wait staff. Try a meat dish ... forget the fish.
(2)Dusty R.
Went there twice and both times had a good meal. Tuna on marble rye at lunch was really good. Rib eye with vegies at dinner was excellent.. My friend also enjoyed both of her meals there. Next time I'm in Green Valley, I'll definitely give it another try. Hope they stay in business.

I don't get it that people give Mac's Pub less than a 5* rating. This place is AWESOME!! They have an authentic British pub menu. They offer gluten fish & chips, GF onion rings that are off the chart good. The food and service are excellent and Mac is always around to greet and ask how your dining experience is going. It is a pub and NOT a place to bring children, which is a super super plus for us +++. Take the kiddies to MacDonalds. We go here at least twice a month, year round. LOVE IT!!!
