This had to be one of the worst experiences I've had. We were seated quickly. Drinks ordered, but took a long time to come. My friends milk had somethings floating in it. Told the waitress and she just said ok. Took another 20 minutes to take our order. We waited over an hour for our food. There menu is very simple so why it took so long I have no idea. My son's breakfast burrito was decent, but the rest wasn't good at all. Cold pancakes, still frozen hash browns which there still remaking and just leaving. Never a mention of why they never came. The rudest service. I will not mention her name, but it was horrible. We will not be back.

Shrimp Scampi is very good..very light for the hot weather. Great views! Service was prompt. Others had the ribeye which was very good. Solid food for the price!

First impressions can be tough! Our greeter was curt and insulting. We came in without a reservation and when being seated my boyfriend asked if we could have a seat with a window view. She asked if we had a reservation - and we did not. Her immediate response was to point to the table she started to seat us at and asked him " please sit down here" as she pointed to his exact spot she wanted him in. Her tone was the problem--- she talked to him like a bratty kid who was misbehaving. Was not making a reservation cause for this attitude? Or did she take a personal insult that a patron under 60 chose to eat here?

Depends on dish. Excellent burgers. Smoked fish is a slimy joke ... it never saw a smoker. Nice wait staff. Mellow setting. Soup of the day was superb.

Holy cow!!! This place is amazing and it's only steps from my parents house...are you kidding me. I was blown away by the presentations of each of the meals at our table. The Bruschetta, the crab cakes, and the Thai Chicken Pasta were all incredible. It is a little on the pricey side, but heck it is worth it for a great meal like this. The taste was delectable, the service was fast and friendly, and the experience was a delight. I suggest anyone that is in the Green Valley area for some reason to head to this great little restaurant you won't be disappointed.

The biggest complaint is that the places closes at 8pm and not a minute after. We were with a pretty big group, that was spending money that weekend and it really felt like we were being pushed out as it was getting close to 8pm. The food was good. The sampler was average, the strip steak was really good and the desserts were a-ok. I guess you shouldn't expect late nights in Green Valley, AZ.

Food: 4.75 Service: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Atmosphere: 5 New owners, new menu. Great food. I can usually withstand the bread rolls, but theirs were warm and super fresh.. I had to indulge. For serving a party of eleven, these people made it look easy, moving tactfully with calm and ease. This woman was smooth, perfect timing, genuinely friendly face and attitude and stayed on top of each and every one of our needs. Good job! I started out with a Shrimptini-- Reminded me of a Bloody Mary minus the Vodka it was so fancy! Bulging shrimps filled my mouth. I almost forgot to chew-- those shrimps were sooo fantastic. Then my hungry brother (he's always hungry and you would never guess because he's so thin) ordered chips, salsa and guac for the table- AHHmazing guacamole--- was so fresh and thick-- with chips that tasted like they were just made. Salsa was all right, but guac was off the charts. Our table ordered a variety of dishes...too many to cover them all- you'll have to go try for yourself. One minor complaint out of eleven people ain't bad-- You can't please them all, no matter how hard you try! My main dish was the Grilled Romaine Hearts with... more shrimp! The shrimp was breaded, so I wasn't jumping for joy, because I do my best to avoid all the fried stuff as much as possible-- but those big beautiful shrimps were so tasty, the crust was easy to accept the way it was. The romaine lettuce hearts slightly grilled on the edge was something I have never had before. Yum! They have that charred taste to them with Parmesan and balsamic dressing smothered on top... Delicious! The view of the greens and the mountain cascades are breathtaking. Sometimes I don't think I could ever live in the desert, then I see that dreamy purple sky, dark blue mountain ranges and silhouettes of saguaros in the distance -- and I think maybe so.. This restaurant has taken a turn for the best! Enjoy!

Quaint and casual. This restaurant serves as a clubhouse for the residents if the surrounding Canoa Ranch area. Separate from Green Valley, many of the residents play golf regularly on the course nearby. However, there are many people who play here so, I wasn't be surprised to see duffers of all ages popping in for to-go items. Other than that I saw mostly retirees entertaining family. True to its demographic, WiFi here is awful so don't plan any meetings or work here. I actually had to switch my network to 2G to get a mild signal. I sat by myself in the lounge area while I waited to pick my daughter up from a play date nearby. I had a little time to kill so I ordered and iced tea, a Cesar salad and the firecracker shrimp off of the appetizer menu. It was all passable. The service was good and the atmosphere quiet. Everything I tried on the menu was good. The waitress was nice and cheerful. Don't expect any avant-garde dining here or nouveau cuisine. It's menu features fan favorites and plays it safe. If you're staying at the hotel nearby or live in the area you are sure to find something you will like.

I wasn't expecting much from this restaurant and I was still disappointed. My quesadilla was lukewarm and tasted nasty. The tortellini was filled with cheese and little of it was tortellini Also the bread was to small the salmon was just a small strip and wasn't anything special. The Caesar salad was caked with dressing and made me feel sick so ask for it on the side. The wine was not great. There's not great places to go in green valley but try to avoid this place.

Without a doubt the best burger in Green Valley! Their Abrego Burger with cheese and roasted green chile is simply wonderful. Today I had tortilla soup and the ckicken skewer with Thai peanut sauce. The soup was hot, mildly spicy and very tasty. The chicken was juicy, tender and while not a very authentic Thai peanut sauce, it was nonetheless very good. A friend had the sesame salad with tuna. She said the tuna was cooked perfectly but needed a bit more "zip" with some wasabi. Other times I've been there I have had the chopped salad - very good and the always wonderful burgers. The Grill on the Green is a bit off the beaten track, but is tasty and reasonably priced. Service can very, but the food is uniformly good!

I only ate here for breakfast, and it was thoroughly underwhelming. Now I'm not usually one for breakfast, but breakfast here was included as part of our hotel stay across the street. My wife, however, is all about breakfast, brunch, and brinner ... and even she didn't want to come back the next day, even though it was free! It was just a tiny buffet, not very many options to choose from. There were very few other people here for breakfast, so new food wasn't being added to the buffet regularly. That being said, I'm sure that lunch or dinner here would be much better. The ambiance is really nice, and there's nice views of the golf course (though it should really be called "Grill on the Practice Green," hahaha!), and the waitress was friendly and helpful.

Don't bother! As guests of the Wyndham Canoa Ranch, we received complimentary breakfasts at the Grill on the Green. You get what you pay for! We had the absolute worst service we've ever had in any of our trips to Arizona... It took over 10 minutes to be seated, another 10 to take our drink order (we also ordered or breakfast then), over half an hour for the food to come out and then it was cold on top even after it has clearly been microwaved... Microwaved pancakes are just rubber frisbees! Of course, nobody asked how it was (nobody bothered to come back!), but maybe they already knew? Everyone around us was saying the same thing and just leaving...

Had a fantastic meal and dinner on Father's Day just forgot to add review. I normally am not the person to have the special but they had a choice of either surf & turf or chicken cordon blue three course meal. All four of us had the special! It was flawless. Food was amazing, the steak seasoned beautifully and the vegetable medley too. The dessert was an Oreo Trifle of some sort, very fun. The service was fast and they had inly a few tables at 5p! Great experience, happy Father's Day!

Eaten here three times on this visit...lunch mainly. The burgers are good served on a quality bun. Happy hour is a good time to try the Firecracker Shrimp. Dinner finds the place a little too dark for me so have not gone there for that recently. That meal generally was the rack of lamb. Their zucchini bread is something we always enjoy at dinner. They sell a loaf to take home so we'll probably get one to take on the plane and have that in lieu of the yummy snacks on the flight. :p P.S. I forgot to comment about the wait staff...EXCELLENT, especially Shanon. I like when people know their product and keep their promises to bring something you requested.

Surprisingly Good! I stayed at the hotel that is linked onto this restaurant. I was in town for a family reunion. This was the most convenient & easiest place to get 12 of my family members to sit down & eat with each other without being too stressful... The lunch menu was pretty big & had lots of yummy looking selections from salads, sandwiches & wraps to more formal lunch plates. I ended up choosing the grilled salmon lunch plate which came with mashed potatoes & roasted vegetables. When it arrived, I was surprised about how much salmon they gave me & how beautiful the plate looked. All the food was arranged very nicely on the plate and everything tasted great. The salmon was grilled and crispy on the outside but juicy & tender on the inside. The veggies and mashed potatoes were fine, nothing too special. Overall I enjoyed my food & all of my family enjoyed their food very much. The service was friendly & I thought the price was fair for what we got... FYI it closes at 8PM, soo plan for an EARLY evening. Like I said early -- a surprising treat! Especially for the area where not much is around. If you are staying here or in the area & want a more upscale feeling meal definitely stop in for lunch or dinner.

The lamb chops were great, prepared perfect! The mashed potatoes need to be replaced with roasted potatoes or similar. The mixed veggies need some help as well, maybe some spices added. Roger, the waiter, needs a new job, he hates this one. The lady greeting folks at the door was super nice and welcoming. And the waitress serving the next table seemed to be very nice as well. My second beer showed up in a plastic cup. We sat outside and it was beautiful. Great views, birds resting on chairs, and rabbits all over the putting green.

The experience begins when the friendly gatekeeper waves you on to the beautifully landscaped, winding drive through the Quail Creek resort community. I have eaten at The Grill on the Green at least half a dozen times and I never tire of walking up to the front door, which is flanked by a huge outdoor fireplace. Stepping into the expansive dining room, the first thing you see is a wall of windows overlooking the Santa Rita Mountains. With its slate, stone and deco touches, the dining room feels like a grand lodge at Yosemite. It has an airy, but cozy, feeling that makes every meal feeling like a special event. I've had lunch here several times. And dinner, too. It's a wonderful place -- probably the best in Green Valley -- to celebrate special occasions. Last weekend was my Mom's birthday. We were seated in a large banquette on the rear wall facing the stunning view. Perfect. The wait staff (and they were legion) were welcoming. The live guitar: spot on. (I could have listened to the guitarist play all night.) The only thing that made me pluck one star back from the five I was going to award was ... the food. We ordered from a special menu of three course dinners -- an okay salad to begin, a set dessert and choice of four or five entrees. We both chose the Tilapia. Ick. It was disappointingly tasteless and (for lack of a better word) "mooshy" sitting on heavy lump of rice. I know I should have sent it back, but I hate how that ruins an otherwise happy occasion. And it was edible. The food is typically very good! I look forward to giving that star back after my next meal, because I know I will be back.

I stayed at the Wyndham Canoa Resort Hotel for a week while I was canvassing the Green Valley area. Grill on the Green was across the street. The place opened early for breakfast and the breakfast menu had a wide variety to choose from. Great views of the golf course with sunny or non-sunny preferences. The waitstaff and bartenders are friendly and helpful. The chef and his staff are quite impressive for an area I didn't expect to find good cuisine. The dinner menu also has a wide variety of selections ranging from burgers to steaks and seafood specialties. Wonderful appetizers to choose from. The morning crowd consists of golfers, mostly men. But the dinner crowd is comprised of all ages of men and women. While I visited Quail Creek one day, a representative there said Grill on the Green was her favorite place to have dinner with friends in the valley. Lots of windows, clean and immaculate, and situated smack dab in the middle of a golf course.

I've have now given this restaurant 4 chances - won't be happening again. We had reservations for dinner with a request for a window table. We arrived about 10 mins. before our reservation, to find at least 10 people waiting for the hostess to show up. After waiting for about 5 mins, she rushed in from the diningroom - clearly stressed. She began seating people and when she got to us, found that the table with the window was not ready for us...not a big deal...we took another table. It was St. Patricks Day so there was a special menu on the tables with the special entree being corned beef - since none of us wanted corned beef, the hostess said she would come back with regular menus. She did come back only to tell us that she only had two menus to give us???...while she held 3 in her hands. We took the 2 and shared one between us. As always, the drinks took forever to come. Obviously, having just one bartender is not enough for the entire restaurant. Our waitress was attentative and kept apologizing but it really was not her fault. Our entrees arrived with problems: Salad with steak - steak was ordered medium rare but came rare. Sea Bass - out of 2 dinners, one arrived with underdone fish that had to be sent back to the kitchen. I had the other sea bass dinner and although it was cooked properly, there was absolutely no flavor. It was supposed to have been served with a lemon/caper sauce - I counted 3 capers on the entire plate and could taste no lemon at all. After sending one sea bass back to the kitchen, another was brought quickly and it was cooked better - but again, no flavor. The last time we had dinner at this restaurant, there were 4 of us. Our friend's food arrived quickly but ours took forever - they were finished eating when our food was finally brought to the table. The only thing that I can figure out about why this place continues to get people to eat there is that there just isn't much down in Green Valley when it comes to fine dining - there is no competition. If there was, The Grill on The Green would not make it. We certainly will not be going back. Hard to think that this is a Metro Restaurant.

Wait...Green Valley? Where the heck is Green Valley? What's someone (under 50) doing in a retirement community, close to the Mexico border eating at a Golf Club? Well, you see my parents live there and you gotta see the folks! They don't usually like to eat out, but I convinced them otherwise. We decided on The Grill on the Green since it was close to the house. Ever since they moved to Green Valley I've sampled many of the restaurants. Unfortunately there haven't been too many stars in Green Valley's dining scene. But then, what can I expect the early bird specials are usually from 2-4 and most restaurants are locked up tighter than a drum by 8:00 PM...because it's a retirement community. But I digress. The Grill on the Green is a standout in Green Valley. We each ordered some manner of sandwich. Grilled Chicken, French Dip, Burger and a Patty Melt. They were all great and a good value for the money. So the moral of the story is if you have to venture out to Green Valley, eat at The Grill on the Green.

The only reason that this is not a 1 was that the wait staff (IKaren) was great with the table and was honestly trying to do a great job with the limited value of the food. 5 (ages 30 - 60) decided to end a long seminar prep week by going to an upscale restaurant. Yelp had good reviews, (mostly) and another work associate had thought the restaurant was ok. Arrival was good with smiles and professionalism as was the waitress. Let's start and go from the drinks to appetizers to meals. 1. drinks - margaritas - prickly pear and regular $7.95 - very watered down. (all agreed) 2. appetizers / soups - onion rings, tomato with veggies and pasta soup, crab bisque. Onion rings clearly out of a box and fried hard, crab bisque was watered down with little crab and taste, the two of us who had the tomato soup thought it was well worth it. 3. Main meals - 2 Salmon, 1 Pork Chop, 1 pasta, 1 salad w/ chicken. Both guys who had the salmon said it was a C+ at best. My pork chop was over done and very tough / hard to cut and chew, no complaints about the pasta and salad.. .but no good discussion other than they were adequate. 4. Mashed potatoes and veggies with the meals. Potatoes were ice cream scooped on to the plate and veggies were mixed with mostly zuchinni / squash, etc. One of our guys said he hadn't seen that potatoe type of presentation since his mom's nursing home, (at least do something with them to show you didn't scoop them on to the plate with an ice cream scoop) and this type of presentation with the veggies tells me that it's quick and cheap. Karen, our waitress, did take the soup off the bill when she asked our friend why he didn't even hardly start eating it and he said it was bad. (this from a guy who is like the commercial "hey give it to Mikey, Mikey will eat anything!") We had eaten several places during the week that were adequate to good. We have 3 more weeks of traveling to and from Green Valley for seminars till the last of Feb., We will NOT return. Green Valley - you are paying too much for what you get.

My Aunt and uncle live up the road from this standout in Green Valley as Roland W says. We dined here twice, the first night we got into town and the day we left to visit my great aunt in Phoenix (Pioria-Sun City.) The night we got into town, we spent so much time talking that we lost track of time. My aunt forgot that everything closes up between 8-00 p.m. and 10-00 p.m. Having gotten here late, one waitress said they were closed and apologized and just as we walked away, another waitress or maybe the manager (I believe her name was Angela,) came out and let us in. The bar was still open and we could have anything except fried food as they had already drained their deep frier. Our server, Dan, was very nice, making suggestions and explaining the dishes to us. We decided to go the appetizer route. The burger skewers are excellent, big, not entree big burgers with fresh patties, cheese, onions, and so forth on fresh buns. The crab cakes are to die for with a crispy exterior and meaty, moist interior of fresh crab meat. The dish of fresh salmon, cucumbers, lavash crackers, and dil is rich and sinful. The chicken cassadillas are also excellent with fresh flour tortillas, tender chicken breast, and caso cheese; the salsa, sour cream, and guacamole fresh. Round it off with a couple Amstel Lites and you will not be disappointed. Our last visit was on the day we were leaving for Phoenix. The place was bustling before we knew it with people of all ages, including golfers as it is on a gulf course. Our waitress was very nice, as was the hostis in putting two tables together for our party of five as they only had them for four or less as they were using some bigger tables for a large party or two. I decided on the green chili chicken sandwich with tender marinaded chicken breast with spicy green chili's, monterey jack cheese, Romain, and tomatoes on a fresh ciabatta roll. I had asked for onion rings, but had accidently gotten fruit; our waitress apologized and bought onion ring s a few minutes later, telling me to enjoy them both. The fruit consisted of grapes, canalope, honeydew, and strawberries. The onion rings were a little greasy, yet excellent with a crispy exterior and fresh onion inside. The Siarra Mist was a refreshing way to round it all off. So, for excellent American fare at reasonable prices in a friendly, lively, casual atmosphere with friendly service, The Grill On The Green cannot be beat. I loved the the different types of music playing (a great variety of soft rock, classic rock, and oldies. Keep up the good work guys.!

Food is average, service is poor. Your best bet is to avoid the dining room and eat in the bar area.
