Some of the better thai in Flagstaff which is why I gave 4 stars. Unfortunately the staff is pretty bad. My husband and I sat at a table close to the bar/carryout area and the staff particularly a taller women with shorter black hair and a nose ring as well as mam with black curly hair and glasses spent the whole time complaining about patrons and having to work. They were making fun of people who had come in to drop of resumes as well as talking about previous guests from the day. Do yourself a favor an get your order to-go!

One of the worst thai foods I have had honestly. Not only the taste was bland or outright bad for all meals for our group of 6, this is totally un authentic thai food. I've had chicken coconut soup 100 times but this was 1 star. Perhaps the chef may Google some thai recipes and consider learning how to cook and then we will be back. Not to mention not cheap.

No thanks. Skip this place and head to Red Curry instead. Gluten-free, vegan/vegetarian options are very limited. (UPDATE: after my review, Ewa's contacted me and said they are working on more options for gluten-free/vegan diners.) Management seems pretentious and douchy. (UPDATE: after my review, Ewa's contacted me and apologized.) I tried the only curry that can be made vegan, the yellow curry. You have to ask for the fish sauce to be removed. There is fish sauce in all their curries, so watch out, veggie folks! And apparently, fish sauce must be the ONLY thing this restaurant uses to flavor their curries, because without it the yellow curry tasted like spicy water. Not good. The wait staff seemed pleasant, and the #5 spice I asked for was legit. Here's my other problem with this place: One day while I was walking around downtown in the horrific heat, I ducked into their patio for a quick moment of shade. Some owner-type guy drove up and asked nicely if I'd been helped. When I smiled and told him no, I'm just taking a shade break, his face turned upside down and he rudely told me I couldn't stand there. Now, I understand that a restaurant owner is at liberty to make and enforce their own rules about their space, but 1. Do you have to be a douche about it? and 2. What kind of community member are you if you kick me off your EMPTY shaded patio when it's blazing hot outside? I just find this treatment about as good as the food, of which I am not a fan.

So as to not pick on Flag, between Sedona and Cottonwood combined, there is not one decent Chinese restaurant. Let's be honest, there are no Good (capital G) Thai joints in Flag. I travel around and have eaten at the best and worst and the in between. You can judge a Thai place on two items, Pad Thai and Panang. Not 1 place in Flag has decent Panang. (Ewa's curries taste weird to me, the other Thai joints in town curries are just mehhh) One positive is that Ewa's has the best Pad Thai in town. Your best option is to order a curry at Pato Thai and Pad Thai at Ewa's...... BY ALL MEANS....DO NOT EAT AT DARA THAI....ONE OF THE WORST THAI RESTAURANTS IVE EVER EATEN AT.

Went again tonight and wasn't disappointed! The green curry was the bomb.com !!! Wow, just as good as my favorite thai restaurant of all time! :-) the noodles, however, left something to be desired, but I grade my food mostly on how well they can do curry, because curry is the hardest to get right , in my opinion. Can't wait to return. I'm a thai food fanatic, like I read the menu at night and daydream of the next time I'll be able to go! So when I say it's good, I mean it :-)

The food and service were great! We had the Drunken Noodles, Spicy Thai Basil Leaves, and the Penang Curry. Everything was wonderful and the server's recommendations were spot-on. Definitely coming back :)

Love this place! After a horrible experience at Dara Thai this place saved the night. We came in 20 minutes before closing, they were more than nice about it. Restaurant looked great, food was awesome, staff was very attentive and couldn't have been better. My friend even left his phone and our waitress texted us to come get it! This is definitely my new Thai place!

For being a new and competing Thai restaurant in town, and certainly not the best in town, it would be expected that the servers would be very warm and friendly. This is not the case for when this particular server is working. She would not give a name, but she is very tall and has brunette hair in a pony tail. She walks around eating and was the most rude server I have ever had. I am very understanding of the hardships of serving, but there was zero reason to be treated the way I was. Sometimes restaurants get busy (it was not even that busy during my visit), but that's the name of the game, so if this person cannot handle being professional in this atmosphere, she should not work there. Because of this terribly unfriendly server, I will not be giving this restaurant anymore of my business.

In reading the other reviews, it appears that service here seems to vary by the staff that's on shift. Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive on a Monday for an early lunch. She recommended the Pad Ew See with beef which was very good. Not the best I've tasted, but definitely good. She gave us the option of a heat scale from 0 to 5. I ordered it as a 3 and could see the red peppers in the food, but it didn't have a whole lot of kick. I'd probably up the ante next time. There are some other good Thai restaurants in Flagstaff as well, but I will be back here next time I'm in town to try some of the other dishes.

I am absolutely in love! A true Flagstaff gem! I order the yellow curry, drunken noodle, tom ka soup, or mussaman curry when I go in. With each experience I enjoy my meal more and more. The portions are gracious. Level of service has increased significantly since opening. I'd recommend visiting during lunch time as they serve a side salad and puff with the lunch options and not with the dinner options. The dinner servings are plentiful for leftovers; who doesn't enjoy Thai left-overs? The atmosphere is amazingly fresh, clean, and comfortable. I especially enjoy the Thai cover-songs softly playing in the dinning area.

The interior design of this restaurant is beautiful! Very clean and modern. The service was some of the worst service ever received. We felt like we were inconveniencing them to be there even though the restaurant was empty. My husband ordered orange chicken and it was very plain. He substituted fried rice for the regular rice it normally comes with. We overheard the server telling the cook not to add any veggies since it was a substitution. Fried rice was served without any veggies or flavorings and tasted simply like rice cooked in oil. It wasn't until after the meal that the server announced the fried rice was $3 extra. Pad See Ew was okay.

I ordered pad Woon sen wif chicken, cu Dara Thai was closed. Next time, I'll wait for DT. My to-go order had way tooooo much fish oil. It was made wif vermicelli noodle also, and stunk. I also tried the drunken noodle-ugh...guess I could've made it myself. Not sure who made the food for dinner on Sunday evening but the tofo was deep fried and hard-it was supposed to be fried. One table of 8 was dining at the time. She also said that DT customers were coming down to eat there instead. I'll stick with their bad service for their good food. Happy huntin for some good Thai food.

With so many great Thai options in flagstaff, this place just doesn't measure up. Had a meal a few days ago, and we were the only table in the restaurant. Our waitress was apathetic, and I had to go up to her at the bar and ask for a beer because she just stood there and stared at our table instead of coming over. We all love spicy and requested 5/5 spice level......only to douse all our food in condiments because it was maybe a 2/5 at the most....not sure what happened there. Spent over $20 for an entree and a beer and left feeling unwanted and unsatisfied.

Head to Red Curry for much better prices and MUCH better food. Tried Ewa's a few months ago and was not at all impressed or did I have intentions to come back. However I received a gift card so I decided to give it another try. I wish I hadn't wasted my time. The veggie chow mein was absolutely horrible and was overwhelmed with eggs. I felt I could have easily whipped up a better version myself in 10 minutes. The Tom yum (hot and sour) soup was bland and was much too chunky for the broth quantity. This same soup at Red Curry is phenomenal. The girl that served us was very rude and it was easy to see she could not stand being there and had a look of hatred on her face when a table walked in. Good thing we took our mediocre food To-go. Again do yourself a favor and skip this place. Ewa's Thai is probably among the worst, if not the worst Thai in Flagstaff.

This place was recommended to us as a local favorite. It did not disappoint. We ordered the Thai tea which came in a huge glass and was delicious. For dinner we ordered Thai fried rice with beef and Hawaiian fried rice with chicken at heat level 0. Both were flavorful and delicious in their own ways and our server brought us the spice tray so we could play with adding just a little bit of spice. The service was friendly and quick. There is an adjacent parking lot that belongs to the restaurant so parking was easy. Overall a great experience and we would come back!

The actual entree was alright (pad thai) but we bought the crispy spring roll appetizer and the rolls were still frozen in the middle!! Plus the service was not great, especially for the price of the food. I wouldn't spend my money here again.

Had dinner here with some friends in December and I was disappointed. The cheese puffs were good, the dipping sauce good. I always love Tom Ka Gai soup and it was SO disappointing! It was not even what I expected...it lacked flavor and even color! It was all white.. and just blah! I did not taste anyone else's meals but from what they said they were not impressed. There is A LOT of thai food in this small town and I know what I like...this was not it. Decor is gorgeous, service was great. Food sad.

Bad management!!! Supposedly Ewa didn't want her restaurant present in the Dining Club (Food Bank support) offering. Her restaurant was listed anyhow. So we were told, "yes, we will honor this," on the first day of the program. Then when paying for our lunch, the offer was retracted. Seems that she should have honored the deal until she had a chance to put a sign in the window. No matter how good or bad the food and service, we won't EVER go back!!!!

What a delightful AUTHENTIC Thai Restaurant. A friend if mine had gone to eat here when it first opened and said she loved it so we went for a nice lunch. The facility is NEW, clean and open. Parking to the north makes it easy in this part of town where it is difficult to find a space on the street. Nice outside dining area when the weather gets warmer. Many Thai restaurants in Flagstaff are in older strip centers and not so clean. Ewa's sparkles so makes you feel good just walking in. The ginger tea is a MUST to try. IT is spicy, tangy and has a bite. Delightful color and taste that made me go home and try to replicate. Still working on it but definitely something you should try with your meal. Photo posted. We started off with the incredible spring rolls! On the menu they are "Homemade fresh Vegetable Wrap in Rice Paper" served with sweet-and_sour sauce. One order is plenty for two. The fresh vegetable temptation was like eating a work of art. See the photos you will not believe how crisp and fresh these wraps are. Defiantly something you will come back to enjoy as a 5 STAR delicacy not often found in a smaller city. Pad Thai noodles with chicken were delicious with a light feeling. #3 heat was very hot and I like it that way #4 would have been way too warm. Ask for additional seasonings and you can always make your dish hotter if you like. My friend had the Green Curry chicken which she had for the second time. Fun place to go and be sure to meet Ewa, the owner. She creates masterpieces with her culinary skills and you will love every minute of your dining experience.

I have been here twice and both times were great. The papaya salad is a must have. I love Thai restaurants that understand how to incorporate spice. It's not just about the heat, but how to incorporate subtle spicy flavors. Ewa's does it perfect. This is the best Thai restaurant in flagstaff.

  • Heather L.

The yellow curry here is so good! The portions are pretty big which is awesome. I also like the fresh spring rolls. Probably my favorite Thai place in Flagstaff. The service can sometimes be slow but the curry is worth the wait

The best and most flavorful thai food in Flagstaff. The decor is very attractive. What makes this restaurant one of my FAVORITE are the wait staff. They greet you upon arrival, quickly attend to your needs and are very knowledgable and FRIENDLY. Not a common experience at the other Thai restaurants in Flagstaff. There is ample parking in the lot next door. All of these factors are what make this a weekly destination.

  • Ingrid P.

One of the worst curries I have ever eaten! It was nothing more than tiny pieces of tofu and bell pepper floating in an insipid sea of liquid. If Ewa's goal is to serve flavorless, ill-prepared Thai food and make the customer sick, as well, they have succeeded.

Hubby and I went for lunch today, let me say I really wanted to like it, but I was very disappointed. We started with chicken wings and they were very good, fried crisp and served with a nice sweet chile sauce. Then came the entrees and things started to go down hill. My husband had the noodle soup, to say the broth lacked flavor would be an understatement. It was like they boiled the rice noodles in unsalted water and then added a little chile. I really don't know what they were thinking but the broth lacked flavor and seasoning. There were also supposed to be meatballs in the soup but hubby never did find any. He left 3/4ths of it...There really was no hope for it, he even tried adding some soy sauce, but it just ended up tasting like watered down soy sauce...a complete disaster. I had drunken noodles, now I know that recipes can vary, but this was unlike any version I have ever seen or tasted. The noodles and chicken along with a couple of pieces of broccoli, bell pepper, and carrots...and when I say a couple I mean 2 pieces of each...anyway...they were stir fried with just chile oil. The whole dish was just orangish and too greasy for my taste. There was no basil, no garlic, no fish sauce, no oyster sauce nothing that makes up the basics of what I know as drunken noodles. Also the menu said wide noodles...which it should have been but I was served the regular thinner noodles...I don't know what that dish was...but it sure wasn't drunken noodles. I will say our server was very good and attentive, she really earned the 2 stars because the food did not. I really hate giving bad reviews, I want places to succeed, but I can not in good conscience recommend the food here. Maybe it was an off day, and they will get better, if I see good reviews that seem reliable from others I may give it a second chance.

Loved the food!! Has a fairly nice GF Menu! Had the GFF Pad Thai pretty good! Atmosphere was modern and clean!' Staff was busy but was pleasantly nice.

So why does yelp even publish reviews who's main complaint is "there are too many Thai restaurants"- and that type of thing. Just stupid. This place serves the best Thai food in town, hands down. Curries are authentic and pay attention to their spice recommendations. I'll be in town again next week and will definitely visit!

Food was decent but the service was terrible. I waited over an hour for my food. The waitress came to the table to apologize for the wait and offered me a free drink. When the bill came I was charged for the drink. Not a great experience and I don't plan on going back.

I really liked this place. I was in the mood for something light, but wanted more than a salad or sushi. There are about 20 tables inside, but we opted to sit outside as they have 6 of so patio tables on the side. Our server came right out. They had 4 beers on draft and the typical Japanese / Thai beers in bottles. I went with the Lumberyard IPA. As it was my first time here, I asked the waitress a few questions, which she happily answered. We started with the papaya salad, at a spice level of 4/5. Ewa's is know to be spicy, but we like spice so it was just right. The salad was delicious, but very small for $8.95. I also ordered the fresh spring rolls, which were all cut in quarters so the portion size was huge, see other yelpers pictures! This was the first time I have had celery in my spring roll, so that was a little annoying. My husband also ordered the basil leaf chicken dish from the entree side of the menu. I had a few bites and it was good. Overall, good tastes but a little pricey for the portion size.

I love Pad Thai and I was very impressed that they had a gluten free option and menu and they weren't kidding about the spice! 2 shots was perfect for me, it was so flavorful! And I was so impressed by their huge menu selection! I can't wait to go back to try the coconut curry!!! Great job with the food and the remodel Ewa!!!

    (5)
  • Jay S.

Best Pad Thai in town. The gluten free version was full of flavor and a portion size that is unseen at other places in the area. And while I am not typically a Yellow Curry fan, I may have to convert.

Had a late lunch there today. Have been longing to try Ewa's, as I love Thai food. Theirs did not disappoint! I had the Pad Thai and some great-quality Jasmine tea. The veggies and tofu in my entree were diced with care, and delightfully bite-sized. The flavor of the dish was excellent! I'd ordered heat level 3 which turned out to be very hot indeed, so be forewarned that this place takes its spice seriously. There are several Thai places in Flagstaff, each a little different, and some of them are excellent. Ewa's is making an effort to serve this cuisine as authentically Thai as possible, and it shows. Service was friendly, attentive, and informative. The Lunch Special menu (7.25) is served until 3pm. I can't wait to go back and try the Papaya Salad, the Calamari, and the Roasted Duck. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

We are not crazy "Thai food aficionados" like some of the reviewers picking apart incorrectly made dishes, but I do know good food and we were not dissapointed with Ewa Thai. Ordered orange chicken and cashew chicken, level 0 (as we don't like anything spicy) and it was very good and not bland! Next time we'll try a 1. Nice decor, great service, dinner was about $11 a plate, tasty, gets a thumbs up and will be back!!

  • Frannie S.

We were visiting town and sick of low quality food (salsa brava, lumberyard). Place looks very nice and clean. We checked it out when we were walking the area and waitress promised us it was good. There were Thais in the kitchen so we ate here. Affordable, great service, tasty and fresh food! We ordered ginger tea to find it was pre-sweetened. No problem exchanging it for jasmine tea.

  • Kurt T.

Never got to actually order. Entered restaurant, waited to be seated as sign instructed and a waitress told us to take a seat. Asked if we could sit outside, she sneered and agreed. We sat outside for 10 minutes and no one came outside at all, despite us going inside to see if they were aware of our presence. Maybe the food is great, but I will sure never find out.

  • Nicolas M.

If you're like the ninth Thai place within a six-block radius, you got to give folks a pretty good reason to show up and spend money. Charging $20 for a mediocre take-out pad thai and large spring roll isn't really enough reason. Maybe try being some other kind of (and far less redundant) cuisine. **shrug**

    (2)
  • Becky D.

I've eaten here three times now and each time, my food was perfect. I've eaten at every Thai restaurant in Flagstaff multiple times and currently, this is my favorite. The flavor was spot on. I've had Pad Thai twice and also tried the spicy cashew dish with tofu. The decor is nice and they have a great patio. This is a gem on the southside of Flagstaff.

Ewas is probably the best Thai food in flagstaff however the service is terrible! I was served by sami and sauna some of most incompetent servers. All I can say is before sami served my water she whipped her snotty nose and that was just the beginning! If you want some authentic Thai cuisine get some ewasTo Go to avoid any negativity from their trashy staff.

  • Chris L.

Good food! Prices were a little high for the portion/amount of meat in dish. Also pick one level spicier than you typically would. I selected a "3" and barely noticed any heat. Great service! Wait staff was very friendly and attentive. All in all a great addition to the flagstaff food scene. Would really love the place if it were just a tad less expensive. Expect to spend approx $10-12 per person at least.

We had a great dine-in meal at Ewa's, and also have had a great experience with the take-out menu for lunch. Pad Thai with shrimp, Drunken noodles, Orange Chicken, Chicken noodle, and Thai omelet were all really good. I get a medium spice, then ask more more spice on the side if I need to add, but I have not needed to add any spice. The flavors are great! You can do lunch for less than $10 and the service is fast and friendly. Easy parking, and really nice decor.

I love thai food. So when I heard a new Thai food place was opening I was very excited. There are a few in town but this is one of my 2 favorites. Definitely a place I will visit again and bring my friends and family.

So far so good, but I could do without the Whitney Houston ballads and a more authentic soundtrack. The staff is green, our server didn't have a lot of experience serving tables. Friday night with many empty tables, took quite some time to get our spring rolls. My lady and I ordered the "Pat Thai", decent but nothing to write home about. Friendly service and decent food, but won't visit again.

  • D W.

I'm sorry, authentic...not really. Service was sub-par and it took forever to get drinks. I wasn't a fan of the food, my significant other and I had completely separate dishes yet they look the same, I was watching the kitchen through the window and they were just throwing ingredients in a wok and serving it on a plate. Way way too expensive for quality, go to Dara Thai or swaddee Thai.... All on the same street. Subpar Thai food.

Mostly I just don't understand why anyone in their right mind would open up yet another Thai joint in downtown Flagstaff, which is already saturated with Thai restaurants. I have been in here twice now. The first time was when they first opened. Food and service were great. The dining room was clean and nicely decorated. The second time, I was not impressed. We came in with a party of 5 around 5:00 PM and it was not busy. However, our waitress really seemed to be struggling. I felt badly for her. The last entree to hit the table came out about 30 minutes after the first, and the food was mediocre. The only logical reason I can think of for this is that maybe they don't have space or heat lamps to hold the food in the kitchen until everything is ready. I had curry, the other people in my party had pad thai, fried rice, or the dinner special (which was Thai BBQ chicken). All dished were "meh". We did not order appetizers or dessert, so there is no reason why our meal should have taken 2 hours from start to finish. I always wish the best for new, local restaurants but this place seems to have some polishing to do or I'm afraid they won't be around long.

  • Tami V.

The food was good, but now I'm a little worried about getting sick. I saw the waitress open up a bag of romaine and cut it for a salad for a to go order, right after handling cash. Right in the front by the kitchen window. And no, she did not wash her hands. Then, another waitress was pouring a Thai iced tea and the pitcher lid fell into the glass. She reached in with her fingers, pulled it out and then proceeded to serve the drink. They seem to have good food, but this is disturbing. More training is required, and apparently better management of the staff.

Great food, service, and atmosphere. You must go check this place out! Their flavor and portion sizes are perfect. I had the green curry and my wife had the orange chicken. Both were very satisfying.

  • Sarah E.

This new spot looks great, but a friend and I stopped into for lunch and experienced slow, inaccurate service (nice people, though), food came out fast, food was just ok- not the best in town, and my friend and I spent the rest of the day with unhappy tummies. So... Probably won't be back.
