Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Perfectly serviceable as far as Mexican restaurants go. Margarita was decent, food was decent, chips & salsa were actually above average. I had the "healthy options" chicken tostada, which was small but fresh and filling. My friend had a chicken burrito....same deal, smallish portion (but actually SANE compared to the monstrosities at other restaurants, so not complaining). Cheap and convenient, typical mid-scale Mexican restaurant ambiance.

Spare yourselves the time and money! This has to be the worst Mexican restaurant in town (I am a local) though the server was rude the busser was friendly....I got a pina colada...presentation was beautiful but it tasted like an old shoe...this place used to be a good restaurant back in the day but it obviously went down hill the decore is about the same as when they opened in 1972 (real divey atmosphere) I would not recommend this place to ANYONE! BEWARE MY FELLOW YELPERS! !!

I feel that I have to write a review because I got sick from the food. I had the Mexican pizza, and got very sick 1 hour after eating it. My husband had indigestion from his burrito but didn't get sick. This restaurant is best avoided.

Food was Delicious, But the service was bad. It took a while to get our food. To even get refills on drinks we had to flag them down a couple times.

There's definitely WAY better Mexican food joints in town. Try Juanita's down the street, seriously. Don't waste your money here.

I didn't get what I ordered, they then acted like I should still pay for it even though it was more than double the price of what I originally ordered, I payed for it anyways and it was disgusting, ah never again, DON'T go there, food is horrible and they're rude. I'm muy triste now thx for nothing hacienda):

I don't get it. This place is where all the locals go for Mexican food. I think it's just like a social thing, because their food is one of the worst around. I would much rather El Toreo, Juanita's, etc. Guess the only good thing is the prices are pretty low.

I wanted to like this place because there were quite a few people inside so I thought it had to be good. That being said, the food was very ordinary, very forgettable. The other reviews complained about the service, but at 1:30 on a Saturday, we experienced pretty good service. The waitress was very attentive and prompt. In conclusion, there are most definitely better options around, but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if you gave this place a shot.

WORST SERVICE EVER. The server couldn't care less about our table and said three words to us the entire time. She was slow, didn't say hi and didn't check on us one time. All she did was take our order and drop the check. We got the taco plate which was horrible and a Mexican pizza which was delicious. We live right down the street but will never return. Even when we settled the check the cashiers only words were "$24.83". Everyone seemed to be in a funk in that place and we left feeling the same. If we weren't past restaurant managers, servers and bartenders ourselves we would have completely stiffed that server on the tip. WILL NOT RETURN.

My 6-year old son and I accidentally ran into this place while looking for a seafood restaurant in an unfamiliar town. It was past 8pm but Hacienda was still crowded. We ordered the Spicy Garlic Shrimp Dinner, the Carne Asada Tacos, and the Fried Ice Cream. Everything was so good. I had never had sopapilla (so sort of thicker flat bread) it was very tasty. My son said we should come back and he'd eat "thousands of" sopapilla.

Truly the most awful food! I ordered a chili releno, it came out cold, and swimming in greese. That waitress did not give a crap, let alone offer to get me something els. What a dump!!

Not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but tasty none the less. Chips and salsa brought to our table right when we sat down. The salsa was OK. I ordered a cheese enchilada, and a side of beans. Both were good, not excellent. I would eat them again. Friendly staff. Brought me a little pitcher of water, which I liked.

My husband and I are on vacation in Arizona and went here based on a recommendation. We were very impressed with the food. I had chicken soft tacos and a bean and guacamole tostada. The chicken was melt in your mouth goodness! My husband thought the beef in the beef taco was very tasty. The wait staff was very attentive and worked hard. This place was decently priced, too.

I would have been happier at Taco Bell. :( I'm new to Cottonwood and trying to find which restaurants should be on my "Go To" list. This one is NOT. Waitress didn't wait on any of the 5 tables in the back room where we sat, until she could take all of our orders at the same time. I wondered why, but then....I found out! She brings the food out (all 5 orders at the same time) on a rolling cart, for convenience sake! Food had obviously sit under a heat lamp for a long enough time to have a dried out top and edge. This food was the ONLY bland Mexican food I've ever had. No taste whatsoever! Hubby had an enchilada dinner, and I had a combo plate with a taco and a tamale. Yuk. Tasteless. We put salsa on everything very heavily so we could at least taste something! Even the rice and beans had no flavor! Chips and salsa were cold and when we ran out, the service was slow to get us more. The best tasting thing in this restaurant was the after dinner mint, so I took three!! So far, I've found Casa Bonita in Cottonwood to be the best Mexican food and I'm sorry I wasted $25 (not cheap) on lunch at Hacienda Inn. :( At Casa Bonita there is good flavor and excellent service. This place had neither.
