Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Poor food & taste quality. I know they've been around forever, but their sauce is overcooked and tasteless, chicken tough, and shredded lettuce salad an overall inexcusable let down. And I've been to the location in Tontitown - 3 years ago and it unmemorable at best. Nice execution of ambiance and service, however. Just don't expect a whole lot here past a decent Italian wine.

After over eight decades in Tontitown NWA landmark restaurant Mary Maestri's closed. My family was disappointed and I thought I would never enjoy their signature house salad or tortellini soup again. Back in the 1980's you coud even buy Mary Maestri's frozen spaghetti at Harps and other local grocers. It sold in Chinese take-out style cardboard containers and they made it in the white building that sat in the front and to the left of the Tontitown restaurant. In the fall of 2012 Mary Maestri's reopened in Springdale in the location of the old Catfish John's restaurant. The good news is that the food tastes the same as it did in the Tontitown era. For this, and the fact that it is only one of a few restaurants that have been in NWA since I was a kid, I'm giving it four stars. Great memories and food aside, there are some negatives about this place I'll share. In my opinion the interior is often too dark and well beyond romantic or relaxing. It's so dark I sometimes wonder if it's clean - what can't I see? Also, it is sill expensive for the NWA market. Many of my friend prefer Joe's in Springdale and believe the food is as good and the prices much, much better. The grandson of the founders, Danny Maestri, is still the front man and resident "Kissing Bandit". I think he's a nice enough guy and I compliment him on keeping the standards of the food high. However, if you ever watched the old Family Feud game show back when it was hosted by Richard Dawson you might catch this reference. Remember how Richard Dawson would kiss all of the female contestants? I always thought the women looked uncomfortable and it was a bit creepy even by mid-1970's to mid 1980's standards. Danny has a tendency to do this as well when he checks in on tables and I find it awkward and really wish he would knock it off.

After discovering that Danny had reopened, my sister and I had lunch at Mary's. I was pleased that many of the same items from their previous restaurant were still on the menu. The first item I looked for and was pleased to find was their house salad. I've never figured out how the Italians from Tontitown make these salads, but they are good, basic lettuce salads with great dressing. Our server was very good with just the right amount of attentiveness. We decided to take 4 entrees home and our server plus one helped us get these to our car. I am just happy that Mary Maestri's is back. We have been fortunate to

Mary Maeistri's is one of the oldest family owned restaurants in the US having been in business for almost 100 years. The filets are as tasty and tender as you'll find in the country. It also comes with a side of delicious spaghetti that uses thin flat noodles. The seafood dishes are also excellent. Heck, everything is yummy there! I love to eat and I highly recommend this place. The place also has a nice ambience with relaxing lighting. You will like the food for sure!!

Let me give a review of this place from a non orange head, with one review, point of view. My first experience with Mary Maestri's was at their original location in Tontitown back in the mid 90s. They went out of business for a while but have now returned. Same owner and with many of the same items from the original menu. They change locations and are now located in Springdale. Bottom line is their food is really good. I have eaten at the old location many times and had the pleasure to visit their new location during my trip to see the Bama\Ark game. Please don't ask me how the game turned out. At least I can say my dinner was great. The bread is homemade, the toasted ravioli rocks, and I am a fan of their salad. The salad is simple but is very good. I always get the filet mignon and it never disappoints. My wife and son swear by the lasagna. Lastly, do not pass up the homemade ice cream for dessert. I will admit that I believe they are experiencing "operational growing pains" with some of the new staff. My waitress was overwhelmed at times with the crowd she had to serve. I'm still giving this place 5 stars based on past experience, the food, and with confidence that the owner will work out the kinks with his new staff. My last advice is to be sure to make a reservation. This place is very popular.

Ugh. Was hoping for a yummy italian meal. What I got was a dimly lit restaurant with soggy salad and horrible chicken parmesan. The bread was good, the waitress nice, but that pretty much sums up my nice words about my visit. I ordered chicken parmesan (if you are looking for veal parmesan on the menu, don't look here), and what I got was a slab of chicken breast in red sauce. Thinly sliced chicken with a nice breading? Nope. Beautiful house salad? Nope. Will I be eating here again? Nope.

Nice folks, lovely place with music at lower level. Plenty of items on menu at a little higher than normal Italian restaurant.prices. Highly recommend the angel hair pompadori. No idea why the served whole wheat biscuits for bread or why the salad was shredded iceberg in a soup of dressing. The staff has been perfect, but the food has been average at best.

I'm giving this 2 stars for many reasons. Reason 1: We had to wait 45 minutes for us to get our food on just an average Wednesday night. Reason 2: The bread was thick, whole grain bread and was served to us without butter. But butter aside, good Italian restaurants should always serve they're WARM bread with oil. I couldn't believe they didn't do this! Also, the salad was a pitiful mix of soggy, chopped iceberg lettuce, drowned in vinaigrette with an olive in the middle...Horrible. Reason 3: the waitress and the staff were awkward and dysfunctional. Our waitress hit my head once with a platter of plates and I felt more than a handful of butts brush against my back during our stay because the tight quarters. Reason 4: The atmosphere wasn't warm and welcoming. As you enter the room of eaters, it's like a big eating fest. No privacy, if you don't talk, you can hear clearly what 3 other tables are talking about. No solitude and really bright lights to match. A "top of the line" restaurant needs to have the lights more dimmed to make for a more romantic, and intimate experience. You are completely exposed in every way at Maestri's. For a dinner of two, we were at this restaurant for over an hour and we didn't even get dessert. I may be only 17 years old, but I know what a good restaurant is, and it definitely is not Mary Maestri's.

Amazing job recreating the magic of the old standard we all grew up with in NWA. People complaining about the salad just don't get it. This Is simple, straightforward yet exceptionally prepared food. Savor it!

Service is slow, slow, and slower. Food is decent, but not worth the wait in my opinion. If you like waiting while you are hungry with the tease of freshly cooked fare wafting all around, then this is the place for you. I miss the old location....
