Wonderful atmosphere. Friendly owner Nori along with her son and daughter-in-law. Super food. They seated our large party with no problem. Food was spectacular. Definitely will go back.

Great food, great environment. The Eggplant Parm and bread pudding are top notch. I would also recommend the spinach manicotti and the chicken parmesan....but you honestly cannot go wrong with your selection.

We love Zaffino's! It truly is a little slice of Italy right in Sherwood. The menu is not extensive. That said, it doesn't need to be. The food: The calamari is by far our favorite appetizer and comes with an aioli that is bursting with flavor; however, it is well seasoned on its own. My husband's favorite entrees are the chicken parmesan and the chicken cacciatore. I order the lasagna every time simply because it is spectacular. Our favorite soup is the minestrone and the garlic bread pairs with it perfectly. Until recently, this was our date night restaurant of choice. Last week we brought along our 5 year old and made reservations so that she would feel extra special. Nori, the owner, set her seat at the table with a child's size water goblet. Our daughter was over the moon! It was such a sweet gesture. She ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and had more calamari than I did! It was a family outing for the books. We will be returning forever!

Quiet, fantastic atmosphere that really lets you relax. The food is fantastic and the service is so personal and welcoming. Very simple, straight forward menu that let's the kitchens work speak for itself. I would highly recommend the eggplant!

I've eaten here numerous times and have enjoyed it thoroughly each time. The food is great though the portions are smallish- but they are always of superiror quality to anything you might find in any other italian restaurant. The price is a little on the high side but again you are getting the quality you would normally miss out on at a typical olive garden or carino's. Nori is always very happy to chat with you and make sure that you have a great experience. I have no idea why it gets such low reviews on yelp... Unless you are a true connesiuer you will find nothing wrong with you experience- and if you ARE a connesuier- why are you reviewing on yelp?

Zaffinos is a wonderful local Italian establishment. For those of you looking at old reviews, keep in mind that the owners have made significant improvements and changes over the last two years and it seems like more and more of the family is getting in onthe restaurant. Each time I come back it seems like it only gets better. The pros: THE SERVICE! This is truly a family-run operation and the most personal service I have received. I once made a comment to our waiter about not being able to find a good fresh romano cheese at the grocery store, only to be handed a take-out container of shredded romano with my check. I ate here yesterday and the place was packed! There was a birthday party table of about 12 and less than 3 empty tables and I immediately feared the wait time. However I received such efficient service that I was never waiting to put in an order, my water and wine glass never emptied, and even when there was a delay not-worth-mentioning to us the staff let us know exactly where our food was. THE FOOD: Their soups here are some of the best I've had. Both the cream of potato and cream of asparagus are my favorites. The entree list is extensive enough and tough to choose between. Lasagna is definitely one of my favorites and I've heard that if you're coming with a group that preordering a vegetarian lasagna the day before is the way to go. The spaghetti is just average, The chicken parmesan is incredibly flavorful, chicken cannolinis are handmade and the veal is a must-try. THE DESSERT: In a world a pre-manufactured desserts ordered out of a catalog, finding some home made desserts from scratch is a wonderful touch. Make sure you save room because they blow olive garden out of the water. The cons: The wine and beer list isn't extensive. There are about 5 whites and 5 reds plus house wines. There are some Italian beers on the menu but this definitely isn't the draw. On cold days I prefer to get a table in the bar room, as the front door opens directly into the main dining area.

I've only gotten take out from here once. The food was delicious! My husband picked up the food and said the atmosphere there was nice! We will definitely dine-in next time!

Beware of Friday nights. I was hoping to experience their fare, but a sign out front indicated they were completely closed for a wedding. A few lucky patrons were allowed to dine on the patio, and invitation I would have liked to have tonight since they had open tables outside. I did set up an account to write this review so that other travelers would not be disappointed as well. They didn't answer the phone so I guessed they were busy, just not serving the public.

The best Italian food in Arkansas! The food is wonder, a little expensive but totally worth it. My favorite is the chicken parmigiana. The waiters are very friendly and so is Nori, the owner. The atmosphere of the place is great.

Zaffino's was truly "a-okay". Not great, not terrible. A little bland and lukewarm, to be honest. I was excited to try this place, despite the average/below average reviews here on Yelp. However, I love local Italian joints and the pictures on their Facebook page looked great! Unfortunately, they didn't impress. First, for the positives: -Nice, clean, spacious restaurant. -The owner was friendly and checked on us during our meal. -Our waitress was efficient, although a little dry. -You can purchase a gift card through Restaurant.com and save $$$ on your meal. -The bread pudding was ridiculously good. For the negatives: -Lukewarm, mediocre tastes. My husband and I split a couple's dish that came with lasagna, cannelloni, and manicotti (if I am remembering correctly.) They just weren't hot (temperature wise) or spicy enough. -The bread basket is just okay. But is is free, and honestly, similar to the plain bread you get in Italy. (It's not the focus, obviously) -If not for our coupon, our bill would have been pretty ridiculous. And all we had was a dish meant for two, as well as dessert. No wine, no drinks, no appetizer - just water. Nothing left me wanting more, and it's not anywhere near where I live - so I don't see myself being a repeat customer. However, I will point out that I think they have a loyal following - it seemed that everyone in the restaurant were regulars - which says a lot.

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The service was so bad, we literally added up the total of our food and left cash on the table after waiiting, waiting, waiting. Right before we left, the owner, who was also cooking, came out to a large table who had been there, waiting, for hours. She yelled at them. Also, the food wasn't good. My chicken marsala was flavored with soy sauce, not wine. Don't go.

Cozy date spot with friendly, fast servers, great, crispy calamari, delicious fresh sauces and a kick ass dark chocolate creme brûlée. Being in Sherwood means it likely won't get it's deserved recognition from the snotty LR crowd, but better for those who currently enjoy it!

Ate there the other day right before dinner rush. Our appetizer was stale (bread with dip), and I had ordered the veal. It was about two bites of food. The only good part was the creme brulee. The table next to us was raving about how great this place was, to me with their enthusiasm it seemed the establishment had to slip them money under the table to give such high praise. Will not waste my money there again!

AWESOME italian food! Hubby & I read a review for Zaffino's in a local paper and it was given a superb review so we had to try it. I was disappointed when I check it out on Yelp (as I do all our restaurant choices) to find only a 3 star rating but decided to go anyway as the review we read was so convincing. SO glad we did! As soon as we walked in it just felt homey and nice, a host greeted us and seated us immediately and I was so excited to see that a picture that hangs in my Grandma's kitchen to this day was on the wall! My grandma lived in Sicily for years when my Grandpa was in the Navy and that picture brought me right back to her kitchen :) Our server (Jesse, ask for him hes great) brought us water right away and took our drink order. I had the prosecco and it was fab, hubby had an Italian beer that I can't remember the name of. On to the best part- THE FOOD- I ordered the spinach manicotti and hubby ordered the Veal Valdastano. Both were served with fabulous garlic bread (Just garlicky enough and a little crispy- yummm) and hubby's came with a house salad which was fresh and the dressing was delicious. My manicotti was perfection, cheesy, spinachy, and the pomidoro sauce it was served over was delicious. I only wished there was more! My husband who usually scarfs down his food treated his veal so gingerly- I looked over at one point and he was just smiling so big. I dont eat veal so I cant comment on his dish but in his words it was "the best". Nori herself came out and made sure our meal was fantastic, which it was, and chatted with us about the time my grandparents spent in Italy. She was warm and friendly and knew nearly everone in the restaurant's name. We were torn on whether to order dessert or not- I wanted the creme brulee but my husband is not a fan (texture person) but Jesse steered us towards the cheesecake- not just any cheesecake, chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. OMG there are not words. I have never had such a cheesecake before- which is not to say I've never had a chocolate peanut butter cheesecake before because I have, I've just never had anything remotely close to this. It was light and fluffy, not heavy and rich like most cheesecakes and the perfect ratio of chocolate to peanut butter to cheese. Ugh my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Jesse did tell us that the sous chef from Brave New Restaurant works there part time and makes those cheesecakes, he should be a FULL TIME cheesecake maker lol. Overall a fantastic dinner, it isn't cheap- total for 2 entrees, 2 glasses of prosecco, a beer, and dessert ran us about $70 but it was definitely worth it. GO forth and eat you some Zaffino's, I know we will be back soon:)

Note - I set up an account specifically for writing a review on this particular restaurant. We just ate here tonight after getting a room (just traveling through). It had a nice, quite, romantic atmosphere. We did get there just before 9PM with a closing time of 10PM so we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. We had Moscato, Bruschetta, Chicken Parmesan and Shrimp Alfredo which were all excellent. We were greeted by the owner of the restaurant who is Italian and she personally seated us. They even had a table reserved for Memorial Day which I have never seen before in a restaurant which was a major plus. All in all, it was a great experience. Would eat there again if I ever travel back through.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
