After 18 holes of golf, this is a great place to come if you want some really good hickory smoked turkey or ham..or, in our case, cheeseburgers. Burge's has been open since 1962 and has an extensive menu served in ala deli. They have a huge smoked meat menu for things like sandwiches, BBQ plates and Po Boys. You ordr at the counter, pay and give them your name and they bring the food out to you. We watched the Razorback football game on the big flatscreen, sipping our teas. The burgers are small but meaty, coming with American cheese, lettuce, pickle and jalapenos . My son and his friends got onion rings/fries which were quite good. For $4.39 it was good but didn't fill me up. So I tried one of their famous Southern Fried Pies (peach)..a hot, tasty turnover filled with sweet peach chunks. I had wanted the chocolate pie but they were out of them. Burge's does catering as well with sandwich trays ($6.99/person) Snack Trays ($4.99/person) and Meat Trays ($3.99/person) They have a whole bunch of sides to choose from. Staff are friendly and efficient, the bathroom is located behind the counter just right of the kitchen. It was clean but a little dark.

Now I know what I am going to say is going to sound like blasphemy and I might get hunted down by the local posse and lynched. I think they still do that in these parts but here goes...After seeing all the high ratings and rave reviews I was expecting one helluva smoked turkey salad. Something cosmic and en lighting, causing me to make a pilgrimage here from my home up north every year like a quest with my friends and family in tow. Sorry this was not the case. I mean I could make a better turkey salad at home, sorry. The texture of the salad was so pureed that I thought that I was eating cat food. The flavor had a bit of smoke to it but also a taste of left over turkey from Thanksgiving dinner...a little old. But don't let me stop you cause the locals were buying this stuff in mass and it was flying off the shelf. Not for me, sorry and I had to give it away. So please All you die hards don't try to track me down because i have moved far away, very far away to another place on the continent. Happy yelping!

Get the turkey salad. Get it as a sandwich. Get a quart to take home and eat it with crackers while watching your favorite movie. The taste will make your brain melt out of your ears with joy.

The smoked turkey here is awemazing! The cherry limeade is homemade and delicious too! Home town feel in the city! Great place for families! This isn't mcds so it takes a little while for them to cook your burger but they are very good. Service is always friendly and helpful!

Having only lived in the little rock area for only 2 years I am still searching out various lunch and dinner locales. This lunch/smoked meat spot came highly recommended and the recommendation was spot on! I had the turkey melt sandwich which was tasty with a side of small fries. I left satisfied wanting to go back and try a few more sandwich and burger options. I will be back soon with some family and friends who have yet to discover this gem in Hillcrest!

Excellent fish and sides. Everything I have ever bought here is delicious and the portions are generous. The fried pies are wonderful and you can't find a better milk shake. Very consistent and priced right.

Turkey salad (turkey crack) is simply delicious...Jeff, the owner, is a great guy and is ever present to see that all goes as it should/and does. Employees are very kind and pleasant, and the catfish is really good. Of course, the turkey/ham fare are also everything they're purported to be. Go, it's a great place to eat.

Ordered a smoked turkey plate expecting pieces or chunks of turkey since this place is known for smoking whole turkeys. Instead what I got was a few cold slices of deli meat with small sides of beans and slaw, both of which tasted cheap. I couldn't taste any smoke. The quality of the meat was comparable to any other higher end deli meat from any store. Definitely overpriced and not worth the money AT ALL. Go the deli counter at Wal Mart instead.

Yummy McYum! (Yeah, I said that.) Came here for lunch. Tried the turkey salad sandwich with a side of onion rings. Both were fresh and delicious! It's a little pricey, but it is local. You order at the counter, so there isn't a tip to pay. Simple concept - great food!

The Smoked Turkey Salad should be renamed "Turkey Crack". It's amazing and addictive. I get a pint of it to go and just eat it with a spoon right out of the container. The Reubens are also very good! Usually swamped at lunch time, best to go at 1pm or after!

I grew up about 2 miles from Burge's, and let me tell you, it has ALWAYS been my absolute favorite place to get a smoked turkey sandwich. Before I moved to California, I used to eat there every single day. I seriously crave a smoked turkey sandwich and some fries from Burge's at least 5 times a week. I wish so bad I could still get one whenever I wanted. If you're in Little Rock, do not miss out on Burge's!
