The place is brand new and trying to make it in a location where other have failed. I hope it does! The portions are huge! I had the four-piece fish with red beans and rice and fried okra. I could've shared my lunch order with two other people and still gotten full. My colleagues were just as surprised with the quantity of food their orders had too. The shrimp and chicken wings are massive! The fish is NOT catfish, though. The place was packed tight because it's new, so it was easy to excuse the wait staff running a little behind during the lunch rush. I'd say they did a decent job in the face of that rush. The place isn't that big, which I think adds to the mom-and-pop local eatery atmosphere. I would probably go to an early lunch or wait until after the noon hour lunch rush from now on, or at least until the curious crowds die down after the newness wears off.

This is a newer place in Jonesboro and I am very disappointed in the service we received tonight. We visited previously and the service was okay. This time around however there was room for drastic improvement. First, we arrived and were seated by a gentleman. He took our order and said our server will be with us shortly. Then another couple arrived behind us and their order was taken almost immediately. I wanted to leave at this point but I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. After about 10 minutes someone finally came and took our order. My fiance and I decided on sandwiches. One with mayo and the other without mayo. The food came out pretty quickly but of course the order was incorrect. The put the mayo on the wrong sandwich. So naturally I asked could they give us a new sandwich. The server told us if we sent the sandwich back the amount of the sandwich would be taken out of his pay. Him saying that really disturbed me. It was unprofessional of him to say that but on the other hand I felt sorry for him. Servers only get paid $2.50/hour and the sandwich was $10. That would have took all his pay for the evening. What kind of company does their employees this way. I asked another waitress was he telling the truth and she confirmed that this restaurant does deduct from their pay if they wrongly put in an order. So after all this back and forth I just asked the waitress can she bring us a new bun. They brought the bun but they have the nerve to charge us for the bun after they made the mistake. The server bought us the ticket and stood over us awkwardly as we were signing the ticket. In most instances I have been in the server simply leaves the ticket. Him doing that really made my fiance and I extremely uncomfortable. All in all there are better places in the city. When I left I was secretly wishing I had just went to Burger King.

First time here. We asked if they sold beer, they don't. Host said owners are against alcohol. No problem... nice selection. Good seasonings, I got the beans (no bacon) gizzards were chewy the way they should be (NOT pre-boiled) Livers were cooked all the way through. Wife got a shrimp po-boy and they tossed in a piece of fried catfish, just because :-) nice touch The no alcohol, no bacon had me curious so I went to Google. Sam's is Muslim owned and are certified Halal according to muslim websites... whoda thunk it!

The portions here are huge and super tasty! I've been twice and so far had the fried catfish and the chicken strips. Both of which were great. They definitely do not skimp on their plates, so I feel that the prices at Sam's are more than fair. The service is good, my drink was never empty, and the waitstaff is very friendly. I would highly recommend this place.

I have eaten at Sam's several times since their opening. I have not been able to eat what was served, not because of the flavor but because of the size of the portion. Great food, I will be going back..

This restaurant has been opened 2months. It had an extensive menu of fried and grill fish, oysters, and shrimp. I ordered the #32- fried fish, shrimp, and oyster (3 each) with two sides, fried okra and sweet slaw. The seafood portions were ample sized. Our order arrived promptly and very hot! The oysters were flour battered rather than cornmeal battered as they truly are in the south. Otherwise, the fried White fish, and jumbo shrimp (also flour battered) were nicely prepared. My okra was the standard frozen, packaged, pre-battered okra that is served in most restaurants today. Mine was over cooked and was hard. The cold slaw was a sweet mayonnaise based dish. It was a little heavy on the mayonnaise, however. Our server was friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. She was also very attentive in re-filling our drinks. Overall, we had a good experience and felt we had good value for the money.

Our friends in Tyler took us to this place for lunch. I had the seafood combo with cole slaw and corn, and the others had the fish combo. The portions were big; good value for money definitely. The fish and shrimp were beautifully seasoned, I have honestly never enjoyed fish that much in a restaurant. The setting was informal which I liked and the waitress was very kind and attentive. I can't wait to eat here again when I'm in Tyler next time.
