Dandy little diner off the beaten path. Stopped here for a quick early breakfast after seeing the other reviews. Place is small and charming. It was full of farmers having their morning coffee. Food was very good for a roadside diner and the service was excellent. I would definitely dine at the Hurley House again and would recommend it to anyone else.

If it's a trendy atmosphere or stylish decor you're looking for, avoid Hurley House Cafe. However, if it's good home-style cooking, paired with friendly service, then this is the place to go. I had been craving a juicy cheeseburger & fries for several days & opted to order that instead of breakfast on our late-morning stop. It was delicious, & instead of the usual frozen burgers most establishments prepare, this was a hand-formed patty of fresh ground beef like my mom used to make. The breakfast my husband chose was good, as well. Yes, we would certainly drive the four miles off of I-40 to visit Hurley House Cafe on our next trip through. If you choose to follow suit, I don't thInk you'll be disappointed.

I read the reviews and thought my wife and I should stop and give it a try. Horrible! Everything in there is nasty! Peek into the kitchen when you go inside. Nothing and I mean NOTHING is clean or sanitized. The fridge has rust all over it. The salad bar is not covered. The dessert counter has uncovered cakes and there is a dirt filled oscillating fan blowing over both. (See pictures I posted) The girl stocking the salad bar was handling the vegetables bare handed. There is nothing fresh about the place. We ask questions about food when we stop places. When they claim fresh we inquire how. They have bagged hash browns, processed cheese, canned mushrooms. Their grits and oatmeal are instant. No fresh fruit or even Apple sauce. Tables are not wiped, floors are not mopped. Sticky jelly blob on salt shaker. We were even afraid to drink the water for fear the ice may be moldy since they do not clean their kitchen. This place is a dump! Keep driving!!!

My family and I was completing the last leg of an 8 state road trip, when our hunger pains hit us in the middle of nowhere. The GPS indicated there was a Subway on the route but unfortunately it was closed leaving no restaurant in site. Luckily YELP directed us the Hurley House Cafe. I seriously think this is the only restaurant in the area unless you want some chicken from the gas station. We arrived too late for the daily buffet, but we did enjoy a great homemade hamburger, fried catfish, and great sweet tea. The staff was friendly, fast, and our food was delivered hot. I would recommend arriving when the lunch buffet is available, 11-2; the daily selections are posted on chalkboards.

Absolutely marvelous. Just what I'd hoped for when my family & I jumped off I-40 & looked for a local cafe. Everything is so fresh... we all agreed that we wanted to keep eating but hurt too badly! In addition to excellent southern cooking, hospitality was in keeping with a southern small town, which is to say warm & welcoming. Places like these are such a more unique & personal experience than any chain restaurant could ever be.

Me and my wife happened to find this hole in the wall while we were driving our rental car from Little Rock to Memphis. We were on vacation to make our first visit to Graceland during Elvis' annual January birthday celebration. We were hungry and it was pouring rain. We saw The Hurley House Cafe sign along the side of road, and even though we couldn't even see the building from the highway, we decided to stop there and eat. It was in the middle of nowhere, and with the rain and all it seemed like a scene from a creepy movie. In fact, we thought for sure we were going to hear Dueling Banjos from Deliverance at any moment! Once we finally got there, we were happy to find out that our waitress was very friendly. And when we both had cheeseburgers and found out they were very tasty and the price was right, our good dining experience was complete. We liked the place so much that we even bought a coffee mug! I don't know if we'll ever be back in Hazen, Arkansas, but if we are we just might have to stop by The Hurley House Cafe again!

We make it a point to stop at Hurley House on our yearly trip between Texas and West Virginia. We discovered it quite by accident while looking for a breakfast locale after leaving a motel in N. Little Rock one year. The staff is friendly and the food is down-home delicious.

A local favorite restaurant this is a great place for a meal. Breakfast is usually to order but lunch and dinner you can order from the menu or enjoy the delicious buffet which consists of a salad bar and selection of the day. That selection is posted on chalkboards in several locations throughout the restaurant or you can merely walk over and take a peak at the buffetline. It generally consist of southern comfort food excellently prepared and frequently resupplied. There are 3 different rooms to dine in so if you are in a group feel free to ask the waitress to push some tables together. In the main room you will see a large table generally referred to as the "liars table". If you don't know what that is, it is a local gathering table where "lies" are generally told, usually about the size of the latest catch or deer that happened to get away. If dining alone, don't be shy, introduce yourself to the gentlemen sitting there and saddle up, it will help if you are dressing in camo or blaze orange and are wearing a hat advertising a truck or tractor. Having had several meals here I have not had anything that wasn't great. If you are having a burger or sandwich be sure and try the sweet potato fries. They recently got a credit card machine as they usually only accepted cash. I actually just went back for lunch and they happened to have fried pork chops on the buffet. Now there are probably half a dozen people in town you don't want to offer all you can eat pork chops and I'm one of them. Already feeling guilty about the greasy goodness I was about to devour, I started with a small salad. The quality of greens left a little to be desired as I like a little more salad than the carrots-lettuce-radish-in-a-bag salad. There were other goodies to add to it so I'm not complaining that much. I do like the fact they had pickled green tomato's on the salad bar and made 2 trips for them. The porkchops were fried perfectly and there were a couple of tasty sides, rolls and even dessert.
