Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I've tried this place several times, hoping I'd find a dish I liked. Never did. The "beef" dishes have unseasoned, gray, ground beef. I tried a beef tamale with a beef taco. All of my plate was filled with ugly, tasteless ground meat. The cheese enchiladas were not so great, either. Place was "almost" dirty feeling. Service wasn't great. Disappointed. Oh, and look at the unappealing photo of their food. iiiiick!

Being from southern California, I've tried to lower my standards on what Mexican food is so i came into tks restaurant with an unbiased mind set. What ruined this restaurant fo me was the fact that my party's food arrived within five minutes. Sure that might sound like fast and great service, however the food was extremely hot on the outside, yet very cold on the inside, it was clear the food had been microwaved. My enchilada was pretty much a tortilla wrapped around pepper jack cheese and the chimichanga was a tiny little burrito. The prices are overpriced for what the food is worth and i will certainly not suggest eating here considering the stomach ache i had after the meal. Avoid!!!!

Excellent service! They really treat you like family. Good food and cheap margaritas!

I got reaaaally bad food poisoning here. My husband has also had food poisoning from this location on a separate occasion. Avoid!

Probably a 2-3 star restaurant for me in the past, but lately I've come to really like the place (we live near). A newer item, "ghost pepper fajitas" set this joint apart from other local Mexican cuisine. They also have great homemade chips and salsa, made the way I prefer. If you are a drinker, the cold beer and margaritas are priced right and are satisfying. Sometimes the service is slower than I like, but this is a true local restaurant with long term staff you get to know a bit and that makes a difference for me.

Still very bad. Had Togo From here via a friend. Un edible. Still great drink value but not fit for human consumption

Have loved this place in the past but have gotten sick the last 2 times I've eaten there - and I didn't even get any meat either time. Might try again later but will be a while. Would rather be on the patio at the La Huerta at Mission and Crossover during these Summer evenings anyways.

We went here because we had heard the food was good. Guess we were told wrong! Chips and Salsa is pretty good, but everything else was gak! Everything had a funny flavor to it. The enchilada sauce tasted like it was from a can and the order was made completely wrong. No apology from our waiter. Will not go back! Why is it we have all these illegal Mexicans here in our country but can't get a decent Mexican restaurant anywhere!

Reasonable prices, all the cars in the parking lot must be for strip joint next door. Not busy inside.

Haven't been here in a while, however last night our meal was a nice surprise. The Carne Asada tacos, and Carnitas Diabla were both very good. Service with a smile, fresh tortilla chips, and great salsa verde (which we asked for). From years with family and friends in NM and AZ, this location of La Huerta was worthy...

This place really blows. I don't even know where to start to give my reasons. Margaritas tasted like lime flavored Mexican tap water, food was terribly greasy and unflavorful and it was (much to my surprise after eating) crowded and terribly noisy. Located in the classiest block on College Ave, next to the Platinum strip club. Avoid. Acambaro (although I haven't been there since the reopening) and El Camino Real on South School are far superior, in my opinion.

Large quantities of boring food. Cheap (heartburn laced) margueritas. Maybe if you have a bunch of kids??? Elanitas Chicken Tortilla soup puts them to shame.

We love this place and eat here once a week. Their veggie fajita platter is just the BEST! I can only eat half of it and always take the rest home for lunch or dinner the next day. They have super salsa that gets hotter as you eat more of it. My husband loves their pork dishes too. They always know exactly what we want and the staff is so friendly.

This restaurant set my standard for Mexican food and while there were some worthy competitors, no other Mexican restaurant has ever measured up to La Huerta, en mi corazon. Their pollo fundido, chimichangas, beans and rice, salsa, guacamole and cheese dip (OMG, THE CHEESE DIP!) were my reasons for going to the gym weeks ahead of time to lose some extra weight so that I could eat at La Huerta every day over breaks. I would actually eat the large platter of cheese dip by myself over the course of twelve hours whenever I got it. I'm still amazed at how good the restaurant was for vegetarians as well. I still dream of that cheese dip and miss La Huerta so, so much. I wish they would expand nationally.

I've eaten here at least three times in the last couple of months with friends. I don't understand why it's so popular!? The service is ok. They are almost always busy. The food is unsatisfactory...the salsa's not all that great, the queso is runny like water, and that's just what you start off with. They always seem to mess my order up somehow, and then they give you a blank stare like they don't speak english anymore! Ugh! Plus, if you eat here, be sure to take some tums or pepto if you know what I mean. Oh, and the parking sucks!!!

The best CHEAP Mexican food in town. Grant it we aren't going for top quality... it freaking Mexican food. Even Abuelo's food is roughly the same. The staff is usually pretty friendly and the serve BIG BEERS all the time and two for the price of one margaritas on Tuesdays!!! This place is better than Acambaro's, El Chico's, Abuelo's (unless you like the high class type atmosphere), Elinita's, and most other cheap Mexican places around.

Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God! I have never experienced a moment at a restaurant like the one that I had at my last visit to La Huerta on north College here in Fayetteville. It all started with me looking for a convenient and inexpensive place to eat. Ok, I am going to say cheap place to eat. A brother is unemployed and on a budget right now. Well anyway, I had a choice between my soon to be favorite Mediterranean restaurant on College, Tangiers, or the old stand by La Huerta. Now I've had some harrowing gastronomic experiences at La Squirtcha but I've somehow held a soft spot in my gut for them. Not any more! So because it was hot as sin outside and I was too lazy to trek .5 miles to Tangiers, I settled on La Squirtcha. As usual I was greeted with the standard hellos and welcomes and shown to my table. The service I have to admit is extraordinary. I haven't had a bad service experience in all the times I've ventured there. Moving along. I was handed the menu and my drink order was taken. No margaritas for me today. They're not that great there anyway. My drinks arrived and I then I placed my food order. I settled on the steak fajitas. It's difficult to decide what to eat at a restaurant when everything there pretty much looks and tastes the same. My food arrived in less than 5 minutes. Which is typical for any dish that you order there. It doesn't matter how small or large your party is they are FAST when it comes to preparing your food. My serving was pretty big. I could have shared it with at least one more person but I would not have wanted to experience the guilt of doing so. There was pico de gallo, refried beans, spanish rice, salad, a scary looking toxic green colored guacamole, and a huge dollop of sour cream to accompany the entree. I ate a forkful of beans. . .what is that strange feeling in the back of my throat. I tried the rice. . .there it is again. Now, I've been through this before at La Squirtcha but I've always ignored it and covered it up with a swig of whatever beverage I was having at the time. I decided that I didn't want to venture in that realm anymore because I am very familiar with the three strike rule. So no more rice and beans this trip. I had already written off the toxic guac and the sour cream. Been there, done that. Now on to the entree. I made my first fajita, I added the juice of a lemon to the meat in an effort to change things up a bit and a little pico. I was thinking as I was eating it. Just two more tortillas and you will be done. I fixed the second fajita. By this time I'd called my server over to bring more lemon and drink refills. Things weren't going so well at this point and I actually began to regret my decision to eat there. As I was making my third fajita, I'm hurrying along because I was anxious to leave, that same feeling from that I got from the rice and beans returned. I ignored it once more. I took a loooong swig of Coke and proceeded with making my fajita. I took one bite. I began to chew and all of a sudden my mouth started to water and I felt the contents of my stomach trying to escape. No not here, not now! I was saying this to myself in the split second this all took place. I let out a barely audible gag but I was able to control my breathing and eased my tortured stomach. As soon as I saw my server I requested the bill. I felt embarrassed and ashamed but soon got over it since there was no one there to witness what could have happened. I left the table with a good portion of my meal untouched and I thought. Wow, there are kids starving in America and I'm leaving all of this food. Trust me kids you wouldn't want to eat that shit either. Never again!!! Lesson(s) to be learned: Cheap is not always good and ALWAYS listen to your GUT!

The best cheese dip in NWA, hands down (runners up- the yellow stuff at Acambaro, El Camino Real, and, surprisingly, Jose's). The rest of the menu is pretty great, and they have decent amount of dishes that appeal to vegetarians like myself. Maybe not the best Mexican food in Fayetteville (that honor probably goes to El Camino Real), but completely awesome in its own cheap, greasy way. Side note- They have 2 other locations I know of, one of which goes by a different name. Even though they have identical menus, somehow they just aren't as good.

What can I say.... very cheap Mexican food, in large portions, for a very low price. The salsa is pretty good, although I have had better. The menu has a wide range of options to choose from.

Best Mexican in town! Love the food, prices, and servers here! I will recommend this to anyone that asks!

Chips and salsa were ok. However, everything else was not. Margarita tasted like sugar mixed with lime. Cheese dip was eh. My boyfriend had trash in his drink. The staff was friendly.
