Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

On a busy day you'll wait on a slow day you'll wait. One time it was 45 min+. Free pie wed is a scam. Not a fan at all.

Everyone recommends the pie but it really isn't all that great. Don't order off the early-bird menu that they push unless you are a senior and don't want much food. They don't tell you it is a senior portion. They say it is a great deal and you get free pie. The smothered chicken was moist and had good toppings. The gravy was bland and needed LOTS of salt and pepper just so it had some taste. The traditional turkey meal had turkey that was processed, not carved off the turkey like advertised. The mashed potatoes were so bland and gritty that they had to be made from potato flakes. Yuck! There was very little gravy. The cranberry sauce was obviously straight from the can. The only highlight of the meal was the Texas toast. We had asked for another piece of toast as the meal was so small. The cook came out to our table and told the server that she was leaving for the day and he would have to make it himself. HOW RUDE! In the time it took to come out and embarrass the server she could have popped in a couple pieces of toast. Also, she was extremely unkempt. I cringed thinking about eating food she prepared. Everyone brags about the pie. We don't agree at all. The pecan pie was okay but was served chilled. It seemed to be straight from the frozen section of the grocery store. The caramel pecan silk supreme was SUPER sweet. The cake layer was pressed down in to the pie crust and was so crunchy that I could not eat it. I only ate the silk part with the whipped cream and toffee sprinkles. Left the rest. Horrible food, misleading early-bird menu that was pushed on us, and unimpressive pies have left us knowing we will never return.

I can honestly say that before this visit, I had never been chastised by a waitress for leaving something behind on my plate. I ordered a side salad and forgot to ask for no croutons. When the waitress picked up my plate, she said "if you didn't want the croutons you could have ordered without and not been wasteful." Honestly I just forgot to ask for no croutons. I didn't think it was a big deal. But she made it out to be one. So I guess I won't forget if there's a next time.

We went in a group of 10 to this restaurant and ended up having different opinions on the meals we had. I had the grilled fish of the day which was good. The fish wasn't as well seasoned as I hoped but it was tasty. My wife had a burger which wasn't seasoned at all. 3 of my friends had chicken sandwiches with flat bread and called it the worst they have ever had. The service was excellent though and the waitresses/waiters were very attentive and patient. We went on a Wednesday so they had some kind of a free pie slice thing going on and this was good. We took those back to our hotel and found them pretty tasty. In fact, the staff at our hotel actually said that this place is very good for pies and desserts in general so maybe that is something to keep in mind.

QFor breakfast this place is great. Service is on par but the kitchen can get a little slow during peak times. The management had been consistant and always seem to remember me. Food selection is pretty good but remember very Americana. Try the pies! They do seem to boast having great pies and they're right. They seem to have several different types and sell whole pies right from the counter.

Different experience for me at Village Inn. Our server, Rhonda, was an experienced waitress who clearly knew her work and wanted to make sure that we enjoyed our meal. Refilling the coffee pot, grabbing creamers from the neighboring table, excellent service. For the food, I went with their 'pick four breakfast.' I told Rhonda that I wanted -exactly- what was pictured on the menu, home fries, two-egg cheese omelet, french toast and a strawberry crepe. The only thing I didn't care for was the overload of powdered sugar, but that's just me. Good service, good meal. No complaints at all!

Waited 30 minutes for food . not what was ordered. Didn't want the free pie on Wednesday night. Manager taking pies out of kitchen to display case was holding then on the sheet pan with his hand and fingers...easily the worst meal I have had in eight years of traveling for business.

The Village Inn is a great place to eat. It's clean, great service, wonderful pies and always great food so it should get a five. That is, as long as you don't order the chef salad. The lettuce has recently been replaced something that resembles leaves from weeds. Even drown in dressing it is still dull, dry and unappetizing. I'm not sure this salad even rates a one.

We were absolutely dissatisfied with our visit to this location. Our server was inattentive, and greeted us with "What can I get you to drink" instead of introducing herself. One of the guests in my party received (and was charged for) something completely different from what she ordered. Another one of my guests' food came out cold and undercooked. When our server offered to redo the meal, I asked that she take it off the bill instead (which she did). The manager checked us out and didn't even ask how our visit was. Maybe they were having an "off" night because it was Sunday, but we will not be returning to this establishment in the future.

As someone said in another review, you wait if its busy and you wait if its empty. We went for a late dinner after on Saturday (8/15). Minimal staff was there and there was one big group of kids sitting and waiting for their food and a family of 8 also waiting in line in front of us to get in. Waited for 5 mins and then the Manager (I think) comes and talks to the family and tells them that it will take at least 15 mins to seat them. Completely ignores us (I guess he thinks we were part of the family). After another 5 mins I manage to catch his attention and beckon him over to ask if we can get a table for 2 (not 8). He just brushes me aside saying 'Yeah yeah. As I said earlier, it will take time' and then walks away. I guess he still thought we were part of that family (I am sure in his mind, my wife and I were adopted!!). At least have the basic courtesy of telling us how much time it will take to seat a party of 2 (which almost always is less than the time for seating 8). We walked out immediately and went to Denny's where we were courteously seated and our order was quickly brought to us. 2 customers lost. Will not be going back again. Ever.

My Beau and I got the pick four for $7.19. Everything was very good. They also have a showcase full of all sorts of pies. If I came during lunch time I would've definitely got a slice of pie. FYI-They serve breakfast all day!!

Food okay, but overpriced for the quality and quantity. Service is always fine. Overall, I prefer Cracker Barrel across the street.

So after reading the reviews I was a little hesitant, but the Denny and IHOP are horrible in this town. We walked in and were seated immediately. It took a little longer than expected to get the good but that's probably because they use real food not facon or egg whites. Everything tasted fresh and good. Upon receiving our check we were asked if we wanted our free piece of pie. Despite the reviews FREE PIE WEDNESDAY IS REAL!!! The food was awesome. Service was amazing. Everyone is sooooo sweet and hospitable. Def hometown feel. Might eat here again before we leave. My opinion I'd steer clear of Denny's. This place is right across the street.

Perfect spot to stop during rush hour traffic. The Roast Beef Shepherds pie is the best. A good portion. It stays hot cuz of the baked dish it's served in. Large carrots and good potatoes with a side salad for under 10.00. Marsha my server is super sweet and fast fast service

The food was good the pies we tried six were good although strawberry rhubarb was my fave right next to the blackberry Bavarian bliss. Our server was a trainer but seem to deem us not worth her time all drink refills were only made because I flagged her down. Of course she repeatedly gave me unsweetened tea although I asked for sweet. I have had much worse service else where. Overall good food service not horrible I actually got to see her work several tables.
