I'm from California and was in town for business. I checked out this place after reading some of the reviews on here. I must say I'm disappointed! I ordered a two item combo - the kalua pork and coconut shrimp. The kalua pork was dry and it's not flavorful. I was hoping it would melt in my mouth. I've had a lot of hawaiian food in the past and this is the worst. The rice is really dry like it's been sitting in the rice cooker all day - and it was only 1215pm when I came in. They served the plate with a macaroni and potato salad - did not like this at all! Every Hawaiian place I've ever been to only has macaroni - so to have potato with it is unheard of. And it was bland - no flavor at all. The cabbage ramen was flavorless as well. overall, for the remainder of my stay in town - i will not be returning.

Hapa's Hawaiian Grill is only open during lunch hours (11-2) on weekdays. It's a small place next to the Sears and across from the Gusano's Pizza off of Walton. The menu is simple: Rice, Meat (Kalibi Ribs, Char-siu, beef teriyaki, kalua pork, chicken teriyaki), and Vegetables (if you want the vege bowl). You can get a bowl, combo, or even a salad. This place is a good Asian alternative to Shogun or PF Chang. I'm a huge fan of this place and I go at least once a week with a bunch of my co-workers. They have daily specials, and Tuesdays is "Pick 3". You get to pick 3 types of meat along with a large serving of rice and a side of ramen salad and macaroni salad in a Styrofoam to go tray. I am pretty small person, but I usually eat all of the rice and the meat in one sitting. Their teriyaki sauce is the best! I crave and look forward to Tuesdays every Monday!

I guess I just don't get it. My food was bland and dry. Major disappointment. Not like a good Hawaiin truck at all.

One of my frequent lunch stops and a favorite for small lunch meeting. Best dish is kalua pork. Really tasty food and decent prices.

Good. I am not Hawaiian, and do not pretend to be an expert on this style of cuisine. That being said, it is good. I love the fatty little "ribs" My wife hates them. They keep short hours and commonly run out of inventory before they close. If you are hungry for Teriaki and most local Asian places scare you, this is your spot. They also have a really good burger with a fried egg on it. Ambiance and lack of convenience is the only reason this place gets 3 stars, otherwise I'd happily rate the food alone at 4 stars.

Just like the plates lunches I had in Hawaii!! All food is served in the traditional styrofoam containers, and with rice and macaroni salad like they do in Hawaii. For $8.99, I got the Kahlua Pork entree; it is moist shredded pork drizzled with teriyaki sauce on a bed of rice and accompanied by a light, vinegar-based cabbage salad and the macaroni salad. Food is fresh and fast, and the staff are even Hawaiian themselves.

This place was a disappointment. We were visiting the area and thought we would try this place since it had 3 1/2 stars. When we drove up there were no cars in front of it and we were hesitant to go in. We decided to try the place and six out of the seven of us ordered the Kahlua pork, since that was supposedly their most popular dish. So gross!! The rice was dry, hard and cold like it was a day old and the pork was dried out. We'll never go back!!

Wow, the Kalua Pork plate is wonderful. The pork is so moist, tender, and flavorful. The sauce is very tangy -- I typically ask for extra. I'm not usually a pasta salad fan but the macaroni /potato salad is also very good. The meal is a little pricey though for a plate of this size.

Lunchtime gem Hapa's Hawaiian Grill is, like everything else good, here one minute, and then gone the next. What I mean by that is that Hapa's is only open for a short time during lunch, from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m. During that time they quickly sell through everything they've prepared for their lunch regulars. The Kalbi ribs, kalua pork and char-siu go first, so you've got to get in while the getting's good. Don't be surprised to see people waiting outside before they open the doors. It's that good. It's a small place in a strip mall, and the food is served in styrofoam, with plastic utensils, but you won't care about any of that. This is great Hawaiian food that will keep you coming back again and again. I am in love with the kalua pork, which is served on a huge bed (about 3 cups!) of rice, and sided by a ramen/cabbage salad and a macaroni salad, which sits on a pineapple ring. All items are fantastic. You'll leave full and happy. [Edit: June 1, 2013: They've now expanded their location to double its seating. And now the place is open for lunch and dinner! Keep it up, Hapa's!]

The chicken teriyaki was delicious. It's kind of hidden away off of walton my in laws had a little trouble finding it. The only problem we had was person 1,2,3,4 ordered and 124 all got their food before person 3 and several other customers after 4 received their food before person 3 I believe it was something to do with the veggies she ordered not being ready. Other than that. I got my food quickly the waitress brought it out to me and was super helpful since it was our first time there. We will be back

Not overly enthused. Food was good but I'm Leaving here now, not stuffed, feeling hustled, and my pockets a lot lighter. First off, I love me some Hawaiian food. Probably my favorite food. But for almost $20 for a lunch plate, I think I'll pass the next time I'm In town. Their menu says a pick 3 plate is 11.99. (See pictures. Middle menu, all the way at bottom) menu does say substitute fried rice for an additional charge, which I did. As you can see from the pictures, I was charged 12.99 for the pick 3 and then an additional charge for extra ribs which is not what I ordered. If it's $2 to substitute the rice then folks, SAVE YOUR MONEY as I got there at 1:30 and after lunch rush and the fried rice was old and hard. So for a pick 3 and substituting rice for fried rice, it was almost $17 and I had a water to drink! If I would of gotten a fountain drink it would have been almost $20 for a lunch. I could have went and got a nice steak dinner for that. Don't get me wrong, the entrees were good. That's they were. Pulled pork was amazing, ribs good, and teriyaki steak ehhh..... Maybe they will do well because it's a small town and the likes of haven't seen Hawaiian food before but I'll certainly eat at a get more for $20 kinda place next time I'm in town.

Great food, but they are never open when they should be. Been there multiple times before 8 pm (their scheduled time to close) and they were closed. More specifically, closed before 3 pm. Very inconsistent and disappointing because I like the food and want to eat there.

A friend/co-worker took me here for lunch. Since I'm from the west coast I was skeptical about a Hawaiian place in the Heartland. It was Tuesday so we both went for the Tuesday 3 item special. One word tastieee! Right up there with my favorite Hawaiian place back home in SoCal. Side note: heard from the owner that they will be opening up on Sundays for the NFL and church crowds. So locals, enjoy and pretend you are a million miles away in the Islands! Mahalo!

A very good lunchtime place. Very good barbeque. Be sure to check out the daily specials on the big whiteboard next to the register. The pork and chicken are standouts. My coworkers also like the Teriyaki bowls. The Pick 3 (meats) special on Tuesday's is my favorite. Almost too much food!

Really simple a great good. I tried the pick 3 combo: Kalua Pork, chicken teriyaki, and char-siu

I was really excited to try the food here so I went out of my way to drive there after work. Come to find out that they close at 3pm on Mondays. This is funny because it says 11-8pm Monday through Sunday on Yelp! Waste of time, gas and a huge let down to my appetite. People like to eat dinner on Mondays, I promise.

If you like Dry meat, Dry Rice and small portions, this is the place to go. I ordered a rice bowl and I thought I ordered a kids meal. The meat was dry and the rice was super dry, like it was left in the rice cooker for 5 hours.
