We were looking for another road food kinda place on our list and couldn't find it so we stopped here because we were starving. They saw us coming and rolled out the red carpet. Friendly, huge portions, hot food. Chef's Salad for me again!! But others got: Red Beans and Rice! Macaroni and cheese done right! Blackened catfish! Corn Bread! Turtle Cheesecake! Hungry yet?! Wish we had this up north cause we'd be here every week. Thank you to the crew at Dixie Cafe! We really enjoyed our meal.

Oh My GAWD was the food at this place awful!!!! The worst food I have EVER had anywhere (and I eat out a lot!). We ordered simply. My husband ordered the shrimp with rice and I got the chicken with pasta. The rice was over salted and they poured seasoned salt over the shrimp to the point it was inedible. My pasta was just spaghetti with ( i swear!) untouched tomatoes straight out of the can with sliced chicken breast put on top then over sprinkled with seasoned salt. It was inedible. each came with two sides and they weren't good either (The green beans were so cooked that they were falling apart and mushy), the only thing that was OK was the cole slaw and I suspect that it was purchased by this restaurant prepared. We had had no interaction with the staff other than to place our order and so it couldn't have been retaliation for anything but It sure felt like it. We spoke with the manager and she said that it just how they make things there. We didn't eat the food or take it with us. The waitress was really sweet and felt awful and the manager was inept but at least she's employed. It is hard to believe that this place is still in business, but it is right on a major interstate highway so like a well placed web it catches flies. I would bet NO ONE ever goes there a second time or if it's a franchise, I bet they never eat at another one. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !!! Even McDonalds is better!

I've read a lot of bad reviews of this place but my girlfriend and I stopped in here during a cross-country drive and the food was fantastic. Not exactly health food, but the price wasn't bad at all and the food was great. I recommend getting a pulled pork sandwich with a side of macaroni and cheese and a side of cole slaw. Then put the macaroni and cheese and cole slaw and some of your girlfriend's salad on your sandwich and go to town. If I wasn't living half a dozen states away now I may become a regular.

Light portion very light... Vegies over cooked to mush but the grilled cajun catfish was great and i noticed the rolls never stopped going to the table next to mine. If you are looking for a healthy american classic - look else where... But fried with gravy appears to be their speciality

Stopped here for dinner last evening. The place was not busy. My husband ordered Chicken Tenders and I ordered Chicken Fried Chicken. It must have taken 40 minutes to get our food and when it arrived it was horrible. My Chicken Fried Chicken looked like it had been around for awhile and was about 1/32 of an inch thick and way overcooked. When waitress finally came back I told her that I couldn't cut it let along eat it. She took it back and after about 15 minutes she brought me another piece.out. It was a bit bigger, but it was about 1/64th of an inch thick. When I cut into it there was no meat. Unbelievable. It was also as hard as a rock. I again told the waitress that I couldn't eat it and she said, "I know what happened....we have a new cook back there and he flattened the chicken out too thin". If she knew this why did she bring it back out that way? I was not happy and expressed my concern to both her and the "manager", and I use that term very loosely. They did take the cost of the chicken off my bill, but charged me $2.99 for the soup which I had substituted for a side order. This was also nasty. I don't know who owns this franchise, but he/she had better fire that damn manager and get him/herself in there and see what is going on. Never again will I eat at another Dixie Cafe. Marylou Wright

If I could give this place a Zero, I would. One of the worst restaurants in Benton. I hadn't been in a few years and hoped that It had turned itself around, but I was wrong. Service was awful, one of the worst I'd ever seen (orders messed up several times, rudeness, inattentive, etc.) Food was bland and unappealing. I'm not sure how this place stays in business. Just say no.

I had almost given up on this place... But tonight was good! Got the chicken tenders w/ honey mustard dip, fried okra, black eyed peas. All good! Father in law's pot roast and carrots were over cooked, but hey, that's his problem. Roll/corn muffins were good. Waitress=good. 20 minute wait time on food. He sure to get your soft drink w/o ice. Benton water is bad and so is the ice. I think they may have this place fixed. Btw- I have tried everything DC offers... Stick to chicken tenders, okra, black eyed peas, fried mushrooms, rolls. Don't waste your time on the other items.

My Daughter and I went there to eat Sunday. This is a not good place. The food was mediocre. I had the chicken Fried Steak, red beans and rice, small salad. She had Cheeseburger-ketchup only and fries. We both tried the appetizer sampler. It consisted of fried mushrooms, fried cheese sticks, fried chicken tenders, and fried something else. The point is it really didn't matter it was all fried and fried poorly. The appetizers all tasted exactly the same. It was crowded and I understand so I wasn't upset about the after church crowd. In fact, I bet much to the chagrin of all the other people sitting around and waiting to be seated, I walked in and told them how many was in our party and was sat immediately. Mind you there was like 20 people in front of me waiting. We were brought to the front of the line! (I think it made a few folks unhappy) I even told them that I didn't mind waiting since we really would prefer a table over a booth anyway. Funny-the greeter turned us down and said that I could either have this seat or leave. I thought "well this many people waiting to eat I better take it since it must really be good." Word to the wise-never say that to yourself. I suspect that everyone else was waiting to see if we survived the food before they sat down to eat. We got to our booth and the waitress was pleasant. Ok...no problem then. Wrong...We were given a menu and she took our drink orders. Upon return, we told her we decided to try the sampler appetizer. She took the order and came back to take our entree' orders. We made those order about 15 minutes after the appetizer order. At which time she asked if we would like warm bread and cornbread as well. Sure! 10 minutes later, she returns....we only have this...she sat a basket of bread in front of us that the dough had not been allowed to rise and it was burnt. "We ran out of cornbread so this is all you get"......ummm...this bread isn't fit to eat so what was the point? 20 minutes later, she brings the appetizers-cold....immediately behind her another lady has all of the rest of our order and plops all of it at the same time on the table. "Is everything alright?" she asked. "Not really," I said, "we just got our appetizers cold and haven't even had time to enjoy them and now you bring us our entrees" She said well sir, all of it has been sitting up there for a while and I am too busy to worry about you cant you see how full we are? I don't have time to worry about it! And then she walked away. We couldn't eat our food! It tasted bad the food was all cold etc. Further, the food was all WAY over priced! After things slowed down (maybe 30 minutes later) the original waitress came and asked if everything was OK. I told her that the food wasn't good and she said well I am sorry let me see what I can do. Fair enough I though, so she brought out the other lady who told me that that was as good as she has time to do and I would just to live with it. She did offer to take it back there and stick it in the microwave. Oh I forgot to mention, they didn't even get my daughters cheeseburger right. It had no ketchup-that was all she asked for! The woman refused to take anything off the ticket so we had to pay full price for food that could not be eaten...I think the Red Beans were still frozen even! Not a good experience for an enjoyable dinner.
