We've heard some really great things about this place so we decided to make the drive and check it out. We had a great time, enjoyed the food and were treated like family. So much so that a group of "bikers" (complete with matching leather skull covered vests) stopped and talked to us for a while in the parking lot. We even met some really nice horseback riders that were camping there. Things I will tell you to keep in mind: -It's really in the middle of nowhere! -2 huge groups of 20+ people showed up while we were there, so if you have to wait to get a seat or service slows, keep in mind that it's not the restaurant's fault, nobody can deal with 40 guests showing up or 40 orders all coming in the kitchen at once! -The place is really beautiful and you should plan to stay a while and enjoy it (and the band) rather than plan a quick meal here. -Portions are HUGE, splitting is a great idea. -Even though the name says "Saloon" they only serve beer, and only after 4pm (the day we were there). -You can't see this place from the road, it's actually below ground. So park and take the "Saloon Taxi", which is a pick up truck that you ride in the back of to the restaurant. -Be nice. Everyone was so sweet to us, I can't imagine some of the other reviews being true (unless the person writing is was a jerk first) -This is a family run business and the owners even came and chatted with us at our table for a while.

The food is pretty standard (average to below average bar food), but the location is so unique that it turned out being a really fun experience.Don't come here for the food and expect something amazing, but for a fun family outing or date. How often do you get to eat at a restaurant outdoors, nestled under a cave?

The atmosphere and experience is great. Awful food. I had the hamburger and it was awful tasting. Would not recommend for eating, but neat place to go see.

Arrived to a ranch atmosphere and rode the "saloon taxi". Fun ride down the hill to see a small saloon and nestled under a cave opening. Tables were available inside and out. After getting off the taxi we were "greeted" by security who asked if we would be drinking and placed an X on our hand. He did not take us to our table or provide any type of direction about where we should sit or information about the saloon. After seating ourselves and looking over the minimal menu items, we ordered two appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and chicken. I was surprised to see our food arrive 10 minutes after ordering, only to be terribly disappointed by the food quality. Most of the food was inedible and cooked from frozen or right out of the can. The waitress said the beef was 100% angus but seemed to be some mystery/soy non-existent patty. Would not recommend the food, but one star for cool atmosphere and beautiful location.

Went to this very interesting Saloon last night. We are going back for lunch and taking the camera! They are only open Thurs., Fri., & Sat. The Saloon had some food, mostly hamburgers and appetizers. Beer and soft drinks.. I had a chicken salad. I wouldn't consider the food "the best I ever had", but it was good. They have Karaoke on Thurs. night. The place wasn't very busy, but there was 1 or 2 ladies that were very good singers. If you want to take the kids go before 5:00, they start serving the beer and the kids can't go in the Saloon.. They ask EVERYBODY for ID. Even the 92 year old woman that was with our group. They have horse stalls and camping with hookups, also have apartments made out of water tanks. Hard to describe. It's built down in a huge rock. You can take the pickup taxi or walk. 3,000 acres of trails. I didn't give it five stars because like I said the food was good and had some "different" items I gave it 4 stars, but not the best I ever had. If it were a review on the Saloon and the property and personality of the employees and owners it would be a five star for sure. They also have a gift shop. Watch out for possible speed trap! LOL!

Good idea but terrible execution. They have no organization what so ever. First of all it's first come first serve when it comes to seating. We waited an hour and a half for our food that was below average. I would have rather had a McDonald's burger. The only positive is the atmosphere which is the only reason I'm giving it one star.

I had heard of this place from a friend. Took the family out here and some friends. First service was excellent. Place is beautiful. You can eat inside or outside. The appetizers are wonderful here!!! Fried jalapeños are great. The duke is the hamburger that all the guys got and it was awesome. They also have a challenge that is eating around four pounds of food. It is 40 to take the challenge! If you can eat it all you get it for free. My wife grabbed the chicken fingers. She did not like them at all. So suggest if you come get burgers and appetizers. This place is designed for beauty and uniqueness. It would be five stars if all food was great. My wife is not picky so it must not have been good!

Wonderful ambiance and unique. Some of the worst food we've eaten. Onion Rings were not hot. Hamburger is the worst tasting meat I've ever eaten. Even the wife (and she is NOT a picky eater!) couldn't stand the taste. I won't go back and waste my money. 2 stars for uniqueness and 1 for food. Sorry folks; that's just the way it was.

My friend and I visited Florence, AL for my 24th birthday, and we unexpectedly came across Rattlesnake Saloon in Tuscumbia. It was a unique dining experience with really great food. We had the fried jalapeno bites and fried green beans, both of which were really great. I had the bacon cheeseburger and french fries and the portion was really large. The people were friendly, service was good and gave great suggestions for things to do in the area. I would recommend this restaurant.

I can't really say that this is a 5-star restaurant, but in terms of experience, I found the Rattlesnake Saloon to be quite special. The location is out of the way, but the outdoor dining ambiance is outstanding. One sits under a massive limestone overhang complete with a bit of what appears to be a natural waterfall (and who would rig up a 80 ft pump?). The trip down to the saloon was a complete hoot and not to be missed. The service is quick and cheerful. The food itself is solid grill fare, though I did quite enjoy the fried pickles (only my second time eating them so I'm not really a judge), and the fries, onion rings & burgers were very good. Beer selection and salad options were disappointing. If you happen to find yourself in northern Alabama, it's definitely worth a 20+ mile ride to go here.
