The steaks here are actually pretty fantastic. This is one of the best restaurants to order a steak in Trussville. I've been here about 8 times or so over the past 3 years, and usually I'm pretty happy. Its located next to a motel along the interstate so you get a lot of travelers. Most locals are usually on the older side based on observations. Its never that busy. Its not empty because its not good, its just located a little bit further off the road than most restaurants in Trussville. Lone Star is a mostly Texas themed place, which I think is pretty awesome. Unfortunately, Lone Star Beer has no distributors in Birmingham, and can't be ordered at this location. The service is usually fabulous. The prices are fairly reasonable. They also have a day every week with a military discount which I love. If I'm in the mood for steaks or burgers in Trussville, this is usually where I end up.

Extremely disappointing. Dirty restrooms. Bland steak. High prices. Go to Logan's or Outback.

Don't get the ribeye. It's the worst steak I've had in a while and I was really hungry following the long wait. The potatoes were good. The sweet potatoes had too much sugar on them. Avoid this Lone Star.

Okay food for a chain steakhouse. Service is hit or miss. Sat without a drink for the last ten minutes of my meal. Didn't offer a box for my leftovers just dropped the bill and moved on.

Been here a couple of times in the past and have not been happy but I thought why not give them another chance. It took a while for our waitress to get to us and there was only a few people in at the time. Waitress came and was very nice, apologized about the wait and then proceeded to tell us about tonight's specials. The appetizer and salads came out fairly quickly. The waitress mentioned they were short staffed but I think everything came out in a timely manner. Quality was a major improvement since my visit several months ago; everything was at the right temperature, the staff was very friendly, the food tasted very good, the manager was walking around and checking on the customers, it was very clean and even being short staffed they seemed better organized. All in all it was a pretty good experience. I would have rated it higher but there were no real menu updates or any new meal options and the length of time it took for someone to get to our table when we sat down. Drinks were very good and priced reasonable. (Many options that were not on the menu but the waitress did tell us about.

Wow!!! They have really let this place run down. Nasty restrooms and in terrible disrepair. The whole restaurant smells unclean when you walk in the front door. I should have left at that moment of realization. I am ashamed that Lone Star management has allowed such a decline of this establishment over the past 2 years. On arrival there was a 20+ person b'day party and no one else in the dining room. ALL of the staff was consumed with this event. Service was unsatisfactory, at best. We had to ask 3 times to have a beer delivered. We had ASK for bread. We had to ask for all refills and then they were wrong on delivery. Instead of apology, you get excuses. Fortunately, the steak was decent in texture and flavor. One meal was served on a dirty plate however. The romaine in the Caesar salad was wilted and bruised or rotten. The loaded baked potato soup had excellent flavor but was so tepid that it would not even melt the shredded cheddar piled on it. We paid $25 each. Will NOT be returning as I can get much better and more consistent for that price! Sad to see them go, but I predict they won't survive another year even. Gross.

We were in Alabama to visit family, and one night while driving by - and hungry - we spotted the Lone Star Steakhouse and decided to give it a try. Keep in mind, we're talking about Texans, in Alabama, evaluating a steakhouse named after our good ol' home state. Anyway, to cut to the chase, we were surprised to say we loved the place. The two for $20 deal is fantastic. Where else can you get two steaks with two sides each plus an appetizer for $10 a head? The service was very good. And the food was cooked perfectly and tasted good. What more can you ask?

Bad service and so-so food. There are better places surrounding the area.
