I'd give them five stars based on the service alone. Marion, our regular server, is awesome and always treats us like family when we stop by. And someone from the management staff always visits our table to make sure everything is up to par. The food is excellent as well. The steaks are cooked perfectly to order and the sides are well portioned and flavorful. I recommend the homemade potato chips and, if it is available, the prime rib. The price is on the high end but you get what you pay for. Our usual tab for two with appetizer, steaks, and beer is usually around $50-60 before tip. With great food, exceptional service, and the assurance that I'll always leave satisfied, I'd consider that a bargain. You should definitely give them a try!

I thought this place was really good. It's about a 35-40 minute drive from Gadsden area....and well worth it. Go early enough so you'll have time after eating to visit the butcher shop & store. Steaks were nice and specials are good too. Must try.

Great food, great friendly staff and owners! Been several times and food is always great. Nice to have butcher shop attached, they also have wonderful cuts of different kinds of meat, last time we visited they had bison. Family owned and very friendly. You owe it to yourself to try this great restaurant!

Salad brown and hair on it.. second one sent back was too old and limp.catfish sandwich was unfit to eat.. even the bread was bad.. lettuce too shredded and limp and the sauce was soured.. left on the plate. po' boy shrimp was hard fried shrimp and you could not bite through them. tasted like old oil.. Horrible service.. awkward guy never brought refills and checked on us. Twice bad food.. never again. the definitely need new management! People work too hard to throw away their money on food like this.

The Choppin Block is a want to be expensive steak house with mediocre food and a small selection. We ate there on July 6, 2013 and although our food was decent, I guess it is what it is for Springville, Alabama. First off, the menu is very small with only a few choices of steak, three if I remember correctly two of which are served in two different sizes. The had a fillet mignon that was served in two sizes and was rather expensive and another steak that was the same way and broke $30.00 just for the steak. If you want to add shrimp you get 6 and that's another $5.00.. plus your drink and dessert if you want that.. and yes, you see how the bill racks up? Our bill broke $60.00 for mediocre food, it wasn't worth that much to me, the rice pilaf was way over spiced, and the sautéed vegetables we had very very hard and crunchy; although they were suppose to be cooked. The steak was mildly flavorful and was ordered medium well and was cooked correctly. The shrimp was overcooked (and forgotten about, as in the waitress brought us our food and I had to remind her that I ordered shrimp, it wasn't cooked so it was delivered at a later time). My girlfriend had some kind of chicken, and although I don't usually order chicken, having hindsight I would probably order that if I ever return. Adding this, my water slightly tasted like milk, don't know if thats the restaurant, the glass or just the water in the area but it did not taste like water. The coconut pie was lovely though, I would actually recommend you to try this. As for its location it may be the best around but definitely not the best for its price.
