We found this out-of-the way place via Travel Advisor, and were absolutely impressed beyond expectations. Our waitperson was attentive and fun; she didn't have a beer list on her, so we asked for something hoppy like an IPA or a pale ale, and she returned with two ice-cold New Belgium Rangers -- just what we wanted! The shrimp & grits are fantastic. Nicely prepared and plated, with a generous portion of eight large shrimp, bread for sopping, and perfectly-cooked grits. My wife's gumbo was rich and hearty, full of all the usual ingredients and delicious spices. We each had salads beforehand that were crisp and fresh. Really, we were blown away by the food quality, and stuffed to the gills when we were finished. Add the sunset view over the lake, the small beach area for strolling after dinner, and the off-the-beaten-path location, and you've got one of the best-kept secrets in the South. Worth finding!

This place is fine. Nice view of the lake, entertainment at night, great dessert. The waitress was a sweetheart but she was so slow. I'm sure it wasn't her fault though. The food was fine. I had boiled shrimp and it Was good. I tried their tilepa, it was ok. Also tried gumbo, I thought it was ok. Menu was pretty pricey. If you want a place to relax, enjoy good music and chill by the lake and get a bite to eat in this Alabama town I would recommend it.

Not the same place it used to be. Waited over an hour on our food when they were not busy at all. Maybe 10 tables in the place had people. Biggest party was 4. Our appetizer of the coconut shrimp was decent, but it took over an hour from the time our app was brought to us for our mains to be brought out. Shrimp and grits were lumpy. Fish tacos were cold. And service over all was terrible. Had to take my water glass up to the bar for it to be filled because the waitress had disappeared for about 35 minutes.

We decided to try this place based on a local recommendation. We ordered the grouper fingers appetizer and they were okay. My husband and I each ordered one of their fresh specials. He got the blackened snapper and I had the Greek chicken. The snapper was okay-nothing special but the chicken was terrible. Nothing Greek about it. No seasoning at all, greasy outside and terribly dry and tough inside. So bad I only ate the side dishes and not the chicken. Would have complained but was never asked if the food was good. The one redeeming feature was I had their sautéed spinach as a side and it was delicious. Since my chicken was almost $16 it ended up being expensive spinach! Place was packed so either we ordered the wrong thing or there's just not a lot of decent restaurants in the area. So disappointed!

I was very disappointed. I wanted to like this restaurant. Nice setup. Live music (that was too loud). Our waitress was slow & somewhat inattentive. One dinner companion ordered a cocktail and was brought the wrong drink. I ordered a simple burger & fries (nothing more than frozen crinkle cut potatoes). The fries were room temp, as was the burger, and the bun was hard. My friend ordered one of the specials (after asking how much it was and never getting an answer). It came w/ 4-5 asparagus spears & mashed potatoes and cost nearly $40. Our bill was around $70 and because we were w/ a group, the waitress got a 20% tip from all the checks. The waitress had to have made more than $50 in tips from our table. I don't mind tipping when the food & service are good but I resent being forced to leave a 20% tip for what we had. It was my first trip to 'The Docks' and probably the last.

Our second trip to this restaurant wasn't consistent with the first. The service was SLOW SLOW SLOW. The cheese balls were still excellent. The salad was meh. Was very disappointed with the chicken fettuccini alfredo this time. It had an odd taste to the meat, but not necessarily a ruined taste. I would've sent it back, but our server seemed nonexistent. I just ate more mediocre bread to get full. A friend of ours that dined with us got the all you can eat catfish. It was raw in the middle. Not just undercooked, but ready to swim again raw. That nasty taste killed his appetite. Can't say I won't go back, since they are local, but I would like some consistency. Either good or bad, I want to know what to expect.

I had the pleasure of dining here often when I worked in Scottsboro. The menu isn't large, but honestly everything on it is good to really good. If you are only going once, get a cup of gumbo and the shrimp n grits. Sit on the deck, have a beer and watch the sunset over the river. They used to have a seafood special on Thursday nights that I enjoyed very much, probably still do. Every time I had the crab legs they were cooked perfect. Only thing I wish they had was draft beer.

These folks prepared a lunch buffet for our group of boaters from TN. The breading on the fried fish was perfect. I particularly enjoyed the homemade remoulade. But..... the desserts are simply to die for. Bread pudding, chocolate pie, key lime pie and strawberry cake are all made on site. I can spot a mass produced dessert a mile away and these are the real deal. In addition they hve a great bar with a plentiful beer selection. And.... they give uou cocktail napkins which is more than I can say for most hippster haunts in Nashy.

I have been to the Docks a number of times the food has always been superior. I have ordered pork tenderloin (best I've ever had) Tilapia and their special Shrimp and Grits. The owners have a heart of gold - I encourage everyone to visit the Docks especially if the weather is nice so you can enjoy the view. Brooke H. I am in full agreement with you about the desserts - they are to die for!

I ate here last week and the food was great. It was so good that I decided to come back and try the catfish "all you can eat" special. I really can't give it a proper review because I never received the catfish. The restaurant was nowhere near half full and it took 10 minutes to be seated. After the waitress finally came to take our order she had to come back to tell me they were out of the liquor used to make a house specialty drink. During the time we spent waiting on an appetizer and gumbo, which was good, a group of 5 was seated nearby. After an hour of waiting for the 'all you can eat catfish' the party of 5 next to us received their cooked to order sandwiches and we were still without the first fish. There was no explanation by the waitress nor any attempt to offer a suggestion for another entree. While I do not want my food cooked hours ahead of time and sitting under heat lamps I would expect to get the night's special in a relatively short amount of time. We decided to just pay our bill for the appetizer, soup and salad and leave. I heard the cook yelling at the waitress, "what do you mean they're leaving?! The food is almost ready!" Really? That may benefit someone else who is still waiting, but it won't be us.

Great for what they aim to do. Casual. Unpretentious. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 pm until whenever. Inside bar and dining. Deck dining is best, weather petting. Drive to Goose Pond Colony or pull up to the dock in your boat. Deck overlooks Lake Guntersville, perhaps 40 feet away. Gumbo and clam chowder are terrific! Fried green tomatoes wee okay. Lots of dishes, mostly seafood. Several grilled or blackened options, not just fried. We had the blackened fish tacos which were fantastic.

Awesome place, the view is great and the food is as well. Make sure to try the cheese fritters!

This is one of the two nicest places in Scottsboro (Salt International Bistro on S. Broad St. being the other), and it's the best spot to relax and unwind for dinner and drinks in town. Located at Goosepond Colony (golf course) with great views of Guntersville Lake (dock access for boats), it's definitely got a small-town bar and restaurant feel, and everyone is friendly. Although there are entrees of steak, chicken, pork, and pasta, the menu has an emphasis on seafood - crab, fish, oysters, etc. - mostly fried though. There are weeknight specials. I had the crab claw appetizers and catfish plate with fries and hushpuppies - deep fried goodness. The drinks were decent - beer and mixed drinks - just don't expect any ultra fancy cocktails.
